Chapter 15

"Rate his butt from one to ten."

I scrunched up my nose. "Um...a six?" I suggested halfheartedly, staring at the iPad's screen.

Delina emitted a loud gasp. "His butt is a freaking eleven!" Then, she turned to Jasmine and delved into a conversation about how his butt cheeks were the perfect size.

Rolling my eyes, I turned over on my side and stared up at the ceiling of my room. "You're just being stupid!" Jasmine spat, narrowing her eyes.

"Oh, shut up. It's probably because you're too infatuated in Adam's pale, flat arse to even notice how perfect his butt is," Delina rejoined, shovelling a few chips into her mouth.

Jasmine shot her a wide-eyed look. "I-I don't like Adam." Delina snorted, sending a few chips from her mouth to land on my shirt.

"Sure," I mumbled, clutching a pillow to my chest.

Jasmine gave out a groan. "You too?" I nodded and she bit her lip. "I don't know...I guess I do like him," she confessed shyly.

Delina began clapping slowly. "Thanks for that observation, Captain Obvious." Jasmine flashed her a death glare while I dragged myself out of bed.

"I'm going to get more food. Be right back." They nodded and launched into a conversation about Jasmine's crush on Adam while I slipped out of the room and climbed down the stairs.

Smiling faintly, I headed to the kitchen and grabbed a few packets of chips as well as a few bottles of water. Slamming the cabinet shut, I deemed the food to my chest and climbed up the stairs.

"Guys, let's go downstairs," I told them while attempting not to drop the food. Jasmine and Delina nodded in unison, each one grabbing a chip packet and a water bottle as they walked past me. Sighing in relief, I closed the door behind me and descended the stairs.

As soon as we reached the living room, Jasmine shot Delina an urgent look, as if she were ordering her not to mention anything.

Delina airily waved a hand and opened her water bottle, guzzling some water. "Ooh, I'll be right back," I told them, walking past Mason.

I promptly climbed up towards my room and opened the drawer to reveal tickets to Chris Brown's concert. Grinning, I clutched them in my hand and bounded down the stairs. Will Delina like my present? She better; it took me forever to find them online. And my mother practically cut my allowance off for spending so much money, so she better like them.

Sitting cross legged beside Adam on the couch, I cleared my throat as silence fell upon our group, excluding Christopher, who had work. He only worked on weekends. "Delina, this is incredibly late seeing as your birthday was about a week ago," I mentioned. "But I bought you a birthday present."

As I brought the tickets from behind my back, I handed them over to Delina, who skimmed the ticket with furrowed eyebrows. Slowly, ever so slowly, a grin made its way into her face and she let out a loud shriek. "Oh my god!" she shrilled, jumping up from her seat and dancing around. "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!"

Adam shook his head. "Fangirls," he muttered under his breath.

I shrugged and smiled sheepishly. "I didn't bother wrapping it."

Adam glared at me. "And you call yourself a friend?" I weakly punched his upper arm and he chuckled, ruffling my hair.

All of a sudden, Bill jumped into the room with a bat in his hands. "Who died?" His eyes fell over our group and he sighed tiredly, rubbing his temples. "Guys, keep it down."

We all nodded.

"Oh my god!" Delina squealed for the last time before falling back on the couch. "I think I'm dead." I chuckled and wrung my hands together.

"So who're you going to take with you?" I inquired.

"I love you all but...I'm probably going to take Mason because he got me the best birthday present," Delina decided.

Jasmine let out a massive gasp. "What could possibly beat my birthday present?"

"Birthday sex," Adam muttered.

Mason's cheeks turned light pink as he averted his gaze. "I'm still a virgin," he muttered.

Adam gazed at him in horror. "You're a virgin?" Mason nodded, staring down at the ground.

"I'm saving it until marriage."

"Aw!" I cooed loudly, pressing my hands to my cheeks.

Jasmine whistled. "It's rare that you find a guy like this. He's a keeper," she joked, ruffling Mason's hair.

Adam groaned. "I feel like such a sinner. Right, see you guys in hell."

Jasmine turned to him with narrowed eyes, ignoring Delina beside her who began singing along to a Chris Brown song. "Why do you feel like a sinner?"

"Because I'm not a virgin," he groaned, covering his face with his hands. I felt the urge to groan with him. Why do these kind of conversations always find their way into a regular teenagers life?

"You're not?" Jasmine asked quietly.

He nodded. "Andrea and I lost it to each other," he told her. Jasmine just nodded in response and averted her gaze to Delina.

"And you," Adam turned to me with a smirk. "You're such a virgin."

I rolled my eyes. "How would you know that?"

"You talk, breath, and look like a virgin," he nodded.

I stared back at him in disbelief. "What the hell?" I muttered, turning to stare at Delina.

"Why are you guys speaking about each other's virginities?" a voice joined us. My heart sank to my stomach as I spotted Christopher shedding his coat off. I shot Adam a death glare, but he just ignored me and waved at Christopher.

"Don't act like a saint. You're not a virgin either," Adam pointed out and I almost gasped. Christopher's not a virgin? I wonder who he lost it to.

"Shut up," Christopher muttered with a scowl.

"Who'd he lose it to?" I blurted.

"His ex," Adam answered, examining his socks. I nodded in response and wiped my palms on my leggings.

As a silence fell over our group, Adam spoke up again. "Alright, so you guys are all virgins," he pointed to Jasmine, Mason, Delina and me.

"Who is Einstien?" Delina muttered dryly.

Adam held his hands up in mock surrender. "Just saying," he chirped.

"Let's quit talking about sex like a bunch of horn dogs and start talking about how hot Chris Brown is," Delina sighed dreamily, staring into space.

"She's totally thinking about his dick, dude," Adam whispered, jabbing an elbow into Mason's side. "She's got that perverted glint in her eyes."

I groaned. "You guys are such perverts."

"What would you do if I weren't a virgin?" Winter piped in, removing her headphones. She tagged along with Adam since both her parents were at work.

Adam's jaw dropped. "I'll kill you and him. Him first," he grounded out between gritted teeth.

Winter nodded. "Noted."

Adam narrowed his eyes. "You are a virgin...right?"

Winter nodded, again. "I'm only fifteen."

Her step brother stood up from his seat and rolled his sleeves to his elbows. "You're lying, Winter. I know you're lying," he stated urgently. Winter blew out a frustrated breath and jumped up from the couch. Adam stood up and followed suit, arguing with her.

An awkward silence fell over our group until Delina let out one last squeal. "Oh my god," she whispered.

+ + +

"Okay, so should I say 'hey, come pick me up,' or 'hi Christopher, can you please pick me up'?"

Delina and Jasmine stared at each other for a moment. "She so likes him," they whispered in unison.

I groaned. "I don't like him," I snapped. "Since the incident at the mall, we haven't spoken to each other, and I feel awkward sending him a text."

Delina scoffed. "Keep telling yourself that. Just text him to come pick you up," she grumbled.

I struggled to form a reply. "Okay, I'm going to text him saying 'pick me up'."

Delina snatched the phone from me, her fingers flying over the keyboard. "There." She handed me the phone and I felt my eyes grow larger than their regular size as I skimmed the message.

'Bitch, come pick me up.'

"Delina!" I groaned. "I hate you so much."

A small grin played on her lips. "Thanks, I try."

"Why can't you just drive me back?"

She flourished a hand around in a breezy manner. "Can't be bothered. Besides, this will give you guys some quality time."

"Oh, yes, Delina," I nodded. "Christopher and I will definitely bond over a ten minute car ride back to his house. You're so right."

"Sarcasm is a form of low wit," Jasmine chimed in.

"Your face is a form of low wit," I muttered, slumping down on Delina's bed.

"Oh, yeah." Delina sat up straighter. "I forgot to tell you. Mason's throwing his eighteenth birthday in two days and you're invited."

My jaw dropped. "You tell me this now? And how come everyone's birthday is in June?" I exclaimed, sitting up.

Jasmine shrugged. "Ask our parents."

I shot her a withering look. "Do you guys have dresses yet?" I demanded.

They both shook their heads. "Nope, we're going shopping tomorrow. You should come." I nodded at Delina's offer and sat back in my bed.

"What are you guys going to get him?" I inquired.

"I don't know yet. I'll think about it," Delina muttered lowly with a shrug.

I struggled to conjure up an idea. "What does Mason like?"

Jasmine gave me a confused stare. "Girls?"

"No!" I groaned. "I mean, as in things. What do you think he'd like as a birthday present?"

Jasmine blinked as a response. "He likes...stuff."

I rolled my eyes. "Well, that was helpful." This time, I'd have to beg my father for money rather than my mother. After all, I was kind of a daddy's girl.

The sound of the doorbell ringing cut us off. I stood up from Delina's bed and grabbed my phone. "Wish me luck," I mumbled dejectedly as I trudged over towards the door.

"Have fun!" Delina blew me a kiss.

Rolling my eyes, I climbed down the stairs and approached the front door. Swinging it open, I came face to face with Christopher, who barely gave me enough time to create a sentence before turning on his heels and nearing his car. Heaving a sigh, I abided him towards his car and mounted into the passenger seat. I buckled my self and then turned to acknowledge him.

"I discovered that it's Mason's birthday in a couple of days."

Christopher handed me an imperceptible nod in response. "What are you going to get him as a birthday present?"

"None of your business."

"That sounds nice," I nodded awkwardly. Hey, at least he spoke to me. "Where's the party held at?"

"Up your arse."

I compressed my lips together. "Okay then," I muttered, staring out the window. I could only hope that his attitude would change towards me on the night of the party.

Fingers crossed.

+ + +

"Guys, I can't feel my face," I croaked out as a gust of cold wind blew.

"If Adam can stop being such a dumb arse, we would've already been there!" Delina snapped while glaring at Adam.

"I swear, all you girls do is shop, talk about boys, and shop!" he retorted, frustration seeping through his tone.

"You always gossip about Megan Fox, but do I ever complain?" Delina rejoined breezily, heading towards her car. "We'll meet you guys there." And with that, she rose into her car with Jasmine in tow. I resolved to go with Delina and Jasmine rather than with Christopher, so I mounted into her car and put my seatbelt on.

"Dick," Delina mumbled, pressing her foot down on the gas pedal.

Jasmine let out a low whistle. "You guys are so..."

"Frustrating," I finished for her with an artificial smile. Though, I had to agree with Adam; as a matter of fact, all the girls did was shop and talk about boys, therefore, in conclusion, he was right.

"Whatever," Delina muttered, squirming in her seat and adjusting the rearview mirror. Sighing at their antics, I leaned back in my seat and folded my arms across my chest. I couldn't believe that it will be Mason's birthday tomorrow, and I hadn't bought him a birthday present yet.

Before long, we reached the mall and I climbed out of the car, walking behind Delina and Jasmine. We entered the mall and waited around for a while until Christopher and Adam came into sight with scowls on their faces. I genuinely feel sorry for them sometimes. "Why am I friends with you guys?"

Jasmine caught up to Adam and slung an arm over his shoulder. "Because I gave you my crayons in kindergarten," she grinned, and as they delved into their childhood together, I felt so out of place. Clearing my throat awkwardly, I fell into place with Christopher, but didn't say a word.

"Hey, let's check this shop out," Delina waved us over impatiently. I followed her into a clothing store and observed as she looked through the clothes rack. "Why are you standing there? Come and find a dress!" I shuffled over towards her and kept one hand in my pocket while looking through the dresses.

"See anything you like?" Jasmine piped in. I shook my head as a response and continued looking through the dresses. In all honesty, almost each one looked hideous. Some of them were pretty, but every time I'd imagine the dress on me, I'd quickly push the thought to the back of my mind and persist in looking through the dresses.

"Where'd Delina go?" I asked after a while.

"To play Cupid," Jasmine mumbled. I fed her a confused stare, but before Jasmine could elaborate, Delina returned, her face etched with urgency.

"Okay, you get a blue dress, and you get a red one."

"Why should I get a red one?" I inquired with narrowed eyes.

"Because Christopher's going to wear red, duh," she replied.

I stared at Jasmine, who shrugged and muttered 'told you so'. "I'm not buying a red dress, don't be stupid," I snapped, thumbing through the dresses. "In fact..." I plucked out a dress. "I'm going to buy this one."

Huffing, I turned on my heels with the dress in my hands. "You're wearing red shoes with that!" Delina called after me and I scoffed. Stepping into a changing room, I shimmied out of my clothes and switched into the dress. It was a hem dress that contained a sequinned cream, chiffon bodice and a tight black skirt. Gazing into the mirror, I nodded in appreciation and smoothed out the dress.

"I'm coming out," I joked, though I doubt anybody heard me. Stepping out of the stall, I placed my hands on my hips and raised my head to stare at Delina and Jasmine. They were assessing the dress with narrowed eyes, lifting my hands up and touching me in intimate places. "Is it nice?"

Jasmine nodded. "It's really pretty; I'm jealous," she remarked. The corner of my lips twitched upward, resembling a coy smile.

"You look sexy," Delina commented from beside her, squinting.

"Thanks," I grinned. Entering the stall once again, I carefully removed off the dress and changed back into my old clothes. I took it in my hands as I opened the door and headed towards the cashier. After purchasing the dress, I clutched the bag in my hand and paced out of the store.

"Did you guys buy anything yet?" I asked Adam and Christopher. Adam nodded and held up the bag in his hands as well as Christopher. "Cool," I nodded.

"Poor Mason," I frowned. "He must feel so left out."

Adam just rolled his eyes. "He can't possibly come with us while we're trying to buy him birthday presents."

I pursed my lips. "Yeah, you have a point," I muttered, kicking the floor with my foot. A while later, Jasmine and Delina walked out of the store with grins decorating their features.

"We bought our dresses!" they squealed, holding up their bags in the air.

"Congrats, do you want a standing ovation?" Adam rolled his eyes, walking ahead of us.

"What's up his arse?" Delina sneered.

"A stick," Jasmine mumbled. "Let's go buy Mason birthday gifts!" With a sigh, I travelled along with the group while they walked through the mall, the sound of their frivolous laughter reaching my ears. They entered a store and I gazed around with a wrinkled nose, feeling so lost and dumbfounded. What should I buy for Mason?

My shoulders sagged as I attempted to conjure up an idea. I sought for clothes, gadgets, and anything that teenage guys like. I made the mistake of asking Adam, "What do teenage guys like?"

Needless to say, my response was, "Sex."

Adam even went as far as to intimate that I purchase some lingerie and pole dance for him, earning a smack upside the head.

With my face still burning, I turned away from the group and began aimlessly wandering around K-Mart. I managed to spot Christopher and I promptly approached him with my hands immersed in my pockets. "Hey, Christina."

On cue, a Christina Aguilera song began playing through the store and I smirked at Christopher's annoyed reaction. "What's up?"

"Nothing," he muttered.

"Sounds fun."

He simply shrugged in response. I was actually surprised that we were maintaining a conversation, hence why I quickly spoke up again in order to save the conversation from dying. "What're you getting Mason?"

"God, you're so nosy," he muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Do I annoy you?" I inquired. Christopher nodded vigorously in agreement. "When was the exact moment I started annoying you?"

"When you popped out of your mothers vagina."

I gasped and then choked, hunching over. As soon as I regained my breathing, I felt my face burn as I looked up at Christopher with an icy glare. He continued casually walking towards the shoe department and I sighed before hurrying after him. "You're so crude."

Christopher lifted one of his shoulders as a response while looking through the combat boots. "Don't you have, like, a million of those?"

He offered an annoyed sigh. "Don't you have someone else to annoy?"

My shoulders slumped a little. "Okay, I'll just...go." Christopher nodded and stared at me expectantly, raising an eyebrow.

"Is this the part where you piss off or...?"

I snorted. "I wasn't actually going to go. I'll never leave," I joked.

"Don't make a promise you can't keep," he mumbled. I furrowed my eyebrows, but didn't say anything else.

"Hey!" I snapped my fingers in his face, and he gave me an annoyed stare. "I need to buy some heels. Come with me." I began walking to the heel section and was surprised to see Christopher actually following me, albeit begrudgingly.

With a smile, I twisted to face the heels and started looking through them. I pulled out a black one with gold studs and nodded in admiration. Sitting along a bench, I shoved my feet into them and stood up, wobbling my way towards Christopher. Although, considering this is me we're talking about, I ended up tripping and falling onto Christopher, who promptly pushed me away with a disgusted face, sending me to topple over to the ground.

Sprawled on the ground, I propped myself on my elbows and glared at Christopher, who began chuckling to himself. "I could've sprained my ankle!" I spat.

He began laughing aloud, his shoulders shaking at the picture of me ungracefully sprawled across the ground. I couldn't bring it in me to yell at him from laughing at me, since the image of him laughing was a rare thing. So I watched him laugh at my ungraceful fall, until he finally gave up laughing and sighed.

"I should've recorded you. It'd would've gone viral in a matter of seconds."

"Yeah, yeah," I grumbled, taking off the heels and then hauling myself up. Snatching the heels, I pushed past Christopher, who was still chuckling to himself.

Bastard.

But he was kind of a cute bastard.
