Chapter 25:-Suspicion

"What?!" I yelled as I turned to face Colton. He looked distraught at the news he had just received; I couldn't help but feel angry at his reaction. Why did he look so concerned about Gina? But I couldn't forget the fact that she is still a part of his pack which would obviously affect him.
"Are you sure?" I asked Kyle sceptically as he nodded.
"Yes Luna, I just received the news from one of the guards, she was carrying silver in her back pocket which we didn't pick up on. She consumed it" the chances of survival after consuming silver or getting harmed by silver were slim. Even strong alpha wolfs can only survive a few hours after consumption.
"Have you called the pack doctor to tend to her?" Colton asked using his Alpha tone, his eyes were furrowed as the look of concern etched on his face. What I would do to know what he was thinking right now.
"Yes Alpha, I called him as soon as I heard the news" Kyle said as I looked at Colton.
I didn't have a good feeling about this. Maybe Alpha Herald told her to consume the silver if she was caught, that's the only valid reason I could think of. Unless she wanted Colton to visit her and this was her attempt to make that happen.
"I'm going to go to the pack prison to see what's going on, you stay here" he commanded as I frowned at his demand. There was no way in hell he was going there without taking me, I didn't trust Gina one bit and I was afraid she was doing this for my mates attention.
I already know he has a soft spot for her and I didn't want him to do anything rash.
"No way, I am coming with you" I said walking towards our room door so I could go and see what was going on with Gina. Before I could reach the handle Colton grabbed onto my arm and pulled me into his chest.
"You're not changing my mind by hugging me, I'm still coming" I said trying to push myself away from him but he only hugged me tighter.
He obviously didn't want me to go for god knows what reason, but when has that ever stopped. I was sure as hell going and I don't care if I have to throw a tantrum to do it.
"Please baby" Colton whispered in my ear as I shivered lightly.
"No baby" I replied sarcastically finally pushing myself of him. If he thinks a few sweet words are going to sway me, then he thought wrong. I am going even if it's the last thing I do.
"But-" I cut him off before he could continue.
"No buts" I said as I grabbed a coat of my dressing table and slung it over my shoulder, this time Colton didn't stop me. Instead I heard Kyle's and Colton's footsteps follow after me. I could hear my mate complaining lowly in the background about how I was a 'stubborn little mate' and why 'I couldn't just listen'.
"I can hear you" I said loudly looking at him over my shoulder as he rolled his eyes and Kyle sniggered beside him. The whole walk to the pack prison Colton and Kyle mumbled lowly behind me about some dumb basketball game. Apparently it was a big match and both of them were excited, I was disinterested so tried to blank out most of their conversation.
Instead I worried about my own problems. The fact that Alpha Herald could have told her to ingest silver just so she wouldn't reveal anything didn't sit well with me, I couldn't help but feel this was her way of getting Colton to come beside her. What if she didn't even have the silver? What if she's just doing this to gain our attention. Something is up, my wolf was feeling uneasy and restless.
Shit was about to hit the fan.
I prepared myself for anything as we entered the pack prison and went over to one of the guard.
Colton had pushed me behind him as he stood overprotectively over me.
Alpha males.
"What exactly happened?" Colton asked the guard as he began to explain what he saw.
"After the Luna told us to lock up Gina, she looked rather upset and kept mumbling about something. I couldn't fully understand what she was saying but I remember she mentioned something about a silver back wolf and how she had to do something to stop him" I frowned at his words.
Was Gina a silver back wolf? She couldn't be I'm sure someone in the pack would have realised if she was, her wolf wasn't pure white. Who was she trying to stop?
"She refused to eat anything, then today suddenly I went to go check up on her and she was lying unconscious, she had silver dripping out of her mouth and there was some in her hand. She had eaten it" he said as Colton shook his head in disapproval.
"Why was she not checked on arrival to the pack prison?" Colton asked angrily as the guard looked frightened by his alpha.
"One of the other guards had checked her, he didn't report anything" the guy said as he looked away from his Alpha in utter fear.
"Who?" Colton asked in his alpha tone as the poor soul looked like he was going to break down into tears any second.
"It was Daniel" he simply stated as my heart beat out of my chest. Daniel? Could he be Gina's accompanier? My heart hurt at the thought, I had actually began to get really close to him so the thought of him betraying me and helping Gina really broke me.
I didn't want to jump to conclusions and accuse him of anything because it could be he genuinely missed it, but I found that hard to believe. If he was checking her, he could probably feel the heat from the silver.
"Bring him here now" Colton demanded as the guard bowed and summoned Daniel.
"Alpha" he said bowing and gave a light smile in my direction. Colton growled loudly and grabbed onto Daniels collar roughly.
"You frisked Gina, why the fuck did you not find the silver on her?!" Colton yelled as I bit down on my lip, I wanted to make Colton let go of Daniels shirt because I could tell he was clearly afraid but I didn't. I wanted an answer.
"I did frisk her, but didn't find anything on her possession apart from her mobile phone. I took it from her straight away" Daniel genuinely replied as I walked from behind Colton and made him loosen his grip on Daniels shirt.
"Colton maybe we should go and see what the doctor has to say" I said lowly as Colton finally let go of his shirt.
"Julian keep Daniel here, I want to have a word with him after I'm done here" Colton said as the guard Julian nodded and Daniel gulped and shut his eyes tightly. He knew he was in trouble.
I grabbed onto Colton's arm as he led me towards a room. I could see Gina inside as the pack doctor stood beside her reading some notes and frowning slightly. Something was wrong.
Colton stayed outside as the pack doctor sensed his alphas presence and put the notes down walking out the room and closing the door behind him.
"Alpha he said bowing towards Colton.
"Luna" he said again bowing as I smiled at him.
I could sense the doctor seemed slightly tense as he looked over his shoulder and into the room at Gina.
"Anything to report?" Colton said getting straight to business as the pack doctor nodded.
"There is slight confusion from my side Alpha, I have done all tests and everything seems normal, heart rate, blood pressure, sugar levels. Her wolf is even present. I don't understand how she is completely unaffected even though she ingested the silver" the doctor said as I furrowed my eyebrows.
Did she even take the silver? But why would she pretend she didn't? My mind just couldn't comprehend what was going on.
"Has she even ate the silver?" I couldn't help but question him as he nodded his head.
"After finding everything normal I checked her brain activity, it seemed she was in a sleep like coma. I took her blood test to check for any traces of silver, there were still small amounts present in her blood. She definitely took something, but I don't know if it was silver" he said as Colton nodded.
"Can I show you something Alpha, it's important" the doctor said as Colton nodded.
"Luna do you mind staying here, please just keep an eye on her heart rate while I'm gone. But do not enter the room" he stated firmly as I nodded.
The doctor lead Colton out into another room and before he shut the door Colton turned and looked at me.
"Do not go in the room" he said sternly as I nodded, I wasn't planning to.
I usually would have argued and said I want to go with them, but I didn't think it was worth the effort. I knew everything I wanted to. I looked through the large window and watched Gina lying on the bed peacefully.
Her complexion seemed oddly pale as I thought about what could possibly be the cause of her being in a coma.
At Least half an hour had passed and there was no sign of Colton or the doctor, I was still looking through the window at Gina when I noticed something odd. Her heart rate was going at such a fast pace and her body was convulsing. Was she having some sort of attack?
"Doctor! Colton!" I yelled but no one came out the room. What is going on? Why are they not listening.
"Doctor! Colton!" I yelled again but there was no reply again. I decided to walk into the room to let them know something odd was happening to Gina but when I went into the room it was empty. They had left through the back door.
"Is anyone here?!" After waiting a long time and getting no response from anyone in the pack I made a decision.
At this point I had no other choice but to go into the room. Without thinking twice I ran into the room and shut the door behind me.
I didn't know what to do so decided to read her reports and make my decision after. I began to read the report and try to make sense of it, however her heart rate went back to normal by the time I was done. That was odd. Her heart was out of control literally 5 minutes ago how is that possible.
I was about to turn around and check if her body was ok but before I could I felt something hot burn the skin at my neck and someone's arm wrap around me tightly.
"Don't say a word" Gina said as my knees grew weak and my hands shook. I tried to shift into my wolf but couldn't because of the silver pressed against my throat. It was making me weak and was burning the skin of my throat.
I tried to elbow Gina in the rib, but she simply laughed and dug the silver into my skin more. It was sharp, one wrong move and my throat would be slit open.
"They told you not to come into the room" she chuckled lowly as I clenched my teeth and shut my eyes tightly.
"You planned this?" I asked lowly as she sniggered.
"Every last bit" I could practically feel her smirking. She wanted me to find out she was working with Alpha Herald, she wanted to be thrown into the pack prison. I just wasn't understanding anything.
"CASEY!!" I looked up to see Colton standing at the door fists clenched and eyes completely blacked out. Why couldn't he come when I was calling him?
"Get the fuck away from her!" Colton yelled as I felt Gina flinch.
"I'm sorry I have to do this" she said before I felt the sharp silver slide across my throat. A scream escaped my lips as I fell to the ground limply. My vision blurred as I gently touched my throat looking at the red hot liquid seeping out of it.
The last thing I saw was Colton shifting into his wolf and Gina being torn apart limb for limb. After that darkness encased me.
