Lillian's POV
I hesitated to knock on Nora's door.
My mother?
I thought my mother was Cora but it must be her sister Nora. But why are both their names on my birth certificate?
"Coming." she called out.
She opens the doors and she looks at me wide eyed.
"Hello mother." I say.
"Lillian, how do you know?" Nora asks pulling me in the door.
"Daniel, he uh left a file that had my real parent's names in it."
"I am guessing you want the whole story?" she eyes me wearily.
"Yes please." I nodded.
"Cora is my sister. Since I was living in the castle, I could not take care of a child, so I gave Cora you because she could not have any children. We visited you when you were a few years old but did not after we found out you were a witch. We destroyed any files here in the castle that you were a witch so know no one would find out. Then, I found out you were taken and became a servant here. I always watched you and I put you in the library position because I wanted to see you again but I guess it did not exactly go as planned." she said.
"Who is my father?" I ask.
"He was a one night stand, his name was William. He was my um, mate." Nor-my mother said the last part I could barely hear it.
"William? King Jackson's best fighter who died saving Jessalyn?" I ask.
"Yes. I was stupid back then and I got pregnant with you and I was eight-teen then but that was nineteen years ago." she smiles
So my father's name is William, my real mother is my fake mother's sister. My real mother is thirty-seven years old.
"Are you married?" I ask.
"Yes, to your step father, Quincy and we had your half-sister, Layla."
"Wait? Layla?" I asked, wide eyed.
"Yes, Layla, she is your little sister. One and a half years younger." my mother smiles.
"Layla?" I ask again.
"Yes, Layla." she frowns.
"Why are both of your names on my birth certificate?" I ask.
"If one of us died, when you were little, they would know who to contact."
"Why would one of you die?"
"Cora, she had cancer. Brain tumor and was not going to live that long so she called me and told me she was going to turn you in."
"She turned me in?"
"She did not know what else to do, she wanted what was best for you."
"What is best for me? Turning me in so they can teach me to clean, that is a good idea?" I practically yelled.
She nodded, "It was the only way to keep you off of people's radar. Obviously it did not work but we kept you safe. We only wanted what was best for you. We wanted you to be safe". We both stayed silent for a few minutes.
"Is she dead?"
"Yes,"
I held back my tears, blinking them away.
"I better get going. Zachary told me I could talk to you for a short while." I say standing up.
"Okay dear, goodbye." she wraps her arms around me, hugging me.
I walk out the door and a very angry Daniel stands right in front of me.
"You told them." he yells.
"Y-Y-Y-Yes." I stutter.
"Do not scream, or I will shoot." he says pointing the gun at my head.
"Okay, Daniel, you do not know what you are doing." I said putting my hands up in surrender.
"You told Zachary I was going to kill him! I heard you."
"What? How?" I asked.
"You may want to watch your back, Luna Queen." he whispered then inhumanly sped out of sight.
I screamed, he knew everything. I feel to the floor, pulled my knees into my chest, rocked myself back and forth crying. What did he mean by watch your back? Does he have people with him that are against Zachary and trying to kill him?
"Lillian! Darling what is wrong?" my mother said holding my face in her hands.
"Daniel." I breathed, at least tried to, I think I could feel a panic attack coming.
She looked at me wide eyed and shouted for a guard to find Zachary.
"Are you okay? Did he hurt you? God, I leave you alone for thirty seconds and he finds you" my mom starts to apologize.
"Where is Lillian?" a familiar voice yells.
Zachary appears in the doorway.
"He came again?" he sighs walking towards me.
"He comes every time you are alone. I am assigning you a body guard." he embraced me.
"He had a gun this time Zach." I said and I feel him stiffen.
"Two bodyguards it is." he dug his face in my neck.
"What time is it?" I ask.
"It is almost twelve at night. C'mon we need to get you to bed, you will get sick." he said picking me up like a toddler and I wrapped my legs around his torso and he carried me upstairs to his room.
"Can one of them at least be a girl?" I asked Zachary as he took off my shoes and placed them on the ground.
"Yes, but she has to be a good fighter. I already know the man, his name is Maxton." Zachary said taking off his shirt and throwing it in his dirty clothes hamper.
"What is the girl's name?" I asked when he climbed into his bed with me and pulled me into his chest.
"Either Annora or Clio, I am not sure yet but they are my cousins, good fighters." he says into my hair.
"Which one is older?" I asking laying my head on the pillow.
"Clio, Lily go to bed. Goodnight." Zachary says, with his voice as hard.
"Okay, okay, sorry I am going to bed. Goodnight Zach." I say closing my eyes.
Soon, I drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

I woke up the next morning to an empty bed. I opened the curtains to the window and a balcony door was there. I unlocked the glass door and stepped out and the morning air nipped my arms. Goosebumps started forming on my arms because of the short sleeved shirt I was wearing. My jeans from yesterday were still on. My cold feet were frozen on the cement's cold floor and I shivered. I rubbed my arms with my hands and looked over the courtyard. A fountain was in the middle spewing water. A garden was surrounding it red, pink, orange, yellow, green, and blue vibrant colors everywhere.
I watched the people scurry around the path that led to the castle doors.
I walked back inside Zachary's room and locked the door, then walked towards the bathroom and shut the door, stripped out of my clothes and turned on the shower. I jumped in and looked to see my cinnamon shampoo and conditioner that I bought at the store yesterday. I washed my hair and smoothed in the conditioner. Then, used the lemon body wash that Jessalyn gave me. I turned off the water and jumped out, grabbed a white towel and wrapped it around my body. I walk out and towards Zachary's closet, hoping to find the clothes I bought yesterday. Luck is on my side today, my clothes, accessories, and shoes were neatly hung and put in the right places.
I pick out a pair of black and white polka dotted leggings, a green-blue shirt from a store called 'Victoria's Secret'.
I grab a white scarf and put it around my neck like Jessalyn showed me. I put on a pair of black converse. I attempt to blow dry my hair, after succeeding I put it into a messy bun and sprayed the PINK perfume in front of me and shimmer into it, remembering Jessalyn's attempt to show me, then knocking over a display of bras. I laugh at the thought, I go back into the bathroom and brush my teeth with my new toothbrush.
"Lillian?" I hear Zach call from his bedroom.
"In the bathroom." I call back.
"Clio is going to be your girl bodyguard, Maxton is the boy and also one of my best fighters. Clio has a mate named Gavin, Maxton's mate is Keira. They will be with you when I am not around. Which will be a lot, sadly." he says, kissing my forehead.
"Okay. Gavin? Where have I heard that name before?" I ask.
"Gavin is a prison guard, three years ago he tracked down a runaway rogue and I guess word got around." he shrugs and grabs my hand.
We walk out of the bathroom and down to the kitchen. I remember where it is because I had to fill in for Emily once because she was sick. Thinking of Emily gives me a sick feeling. She never got married. She never had kids, it was not fair for her life to be taken away from her so early.
"What would you like?" Zach asks me.
"I'm not really sure, I have not really had much of a say in what I eat in a while," I say sitting at the bar.
"Excuse me, Alpha, Luna, you may want to come and see this." Lucas says fear in his eyes.
We follow him to the courtyard and where the water fountain with the clear, blue water was this morning, is full of blood and a body. I gasp. It is the rest of Emily's body. I stifle a cry. What heartless monster would do this?
