CHAPTER FORTY EIGHT - PART TWO
Jiyong's POV
Paige and I watched as the van disappeared from our sight. She heaved a sigh once they were gone.
"Shall we?" I asked her.
"Are we taking a cab?" She asked.
"I have a car, come on." she nodded before walking next to me.
"This is too sudden, are you sure it's okay for me to stay over?" She asked. "You can just drop me off at a hotel to check-in."
"It's okay, I live alone anyway. It's not a problem at all. Besides, they'd kill me if I leave you. You're my responsibility right now." I told her.
We stopped when we reached my car. "Meet my baby," I chuckled.
She shook her head before we entered the car. I started the engine and began driving.
"It's been so long since I've seen the city. There are so many lights."
She kept looking around happily. "Don't you ever go out?"
"I've only been going to the school and back. I hardly look outside, I haven't seen the night life here in the city for so long." she said excitedly.
"You know for someone who just got temporarily kicked out of the house, you seem pretty enthusiastic." I chuckled.
"Hey, I was not kicked out. If that's what they think is the best decision then it's alright." she countered.
We stopped over a convenience store. I got off first and Paige followed.
"What are we doing here?" She asked.
"Well you're my guest, go ahead and take whatever you need." I told her.
"I don't have money," she said.
"And you wanted to check in a hotel instead," I teased. "I'll pay, just take everything you need."
She didn't move at first. Don't tell me she's too shy for that now?
"Paige, just take whatever you want. Food, drinks... Girl stuff in case it's that time of the month." I ended up getting pinched.
"I'll just be over for one night, I'll be okay." she said.
I just took some chips and biscuits. I don't have that much food in my house. After buying what we need, I drove into my place.
Paige looked nervous while we were in the elevator. Some of my neighbors gave us confused looks. I shrugged it off. I entered my pass code and I let her in first.
"You have a sports car and a huge condo unit, lucky you." she said as she looked around.
"Says the girl who's living in a huge mansion." I retorted.
"Well I don't own the place. I'm just a freeloader there." she giggled.
"You're not freeloading when you're dating one of them." I corrected.
"I'm not dating anyone," she shot me a look.
"Huh?" My brows raised in confusion. "I'm pretty sure you're dating Sehun." I said.
Her face turned red in an instant. "We're not... I mean, he never asked me." she scratched her head. "We're sort of there but it isn't official?"
"Paige, Sehun doesn't have to ask you. You can call him your boyfriend and he won't mind. Besides, you're practically married since he claimed you anyways. Not to mention that you've done lots of stuff together." I wiggled my eyebrows at her.
"Knock it off," she playfully pushed me away. "By the way, is it safe to call you by your name?" She asked.
"Of course it is,"
"You sure?" She gave me a doubtful look.
"I won't try to feed off you unless you want to. Just go, Jiyong Jiyong Jiyong then we're cool."
She narrowed her eyes at me.
"Ah, dear innocent Paige... I'm just kidding." I placed an arm around her shoulder. "You know I joke a lot,"
"You remind me of someone," she said.
"Who?"
"Kai, but your mischief is on a different level"
"I'll take that as a compliment," she rolled her eyes at me. "By the way, this is my room," I said as I opened a door. 'There's a drawer in there, go and take my clothes to change."
"Is it okay to use your shower as well?" She asked. I nodded as a reply. She's probably uncomfortable in her uniform, plus her blouse has some traces of blood on it... It must be Sehun's.
I took one towel from my closet and handed it to her. "I'll be outside," I told her.
I changed into more comfortable clothes. I sat on the couch and switched on the TV. After a short while, I heard a knock on my door.
"What are you doing here?!" I exclaimed.
They all looked confused. "You're acting as if we don't usually go here," Seunghyun said before he went in with the others.
"At least tell me if you're coming over." I groaned.
"Jiyong, we only live a few floors away from you. Besides, it's the first time that you complained." Taeyang said.
Daesung eyed me. "He must be hiding something," he began.
As if on cue, the door to my room opened. "Jiyong, I used up all of the shampoo I hope you don't--" her eyes widened when she saw the other three with me.
"Excuse me," she closed the door and went back in.
I think I turned pale with that. They all suddenly had wide grins on their faces.
"Oh I see," Seunghyun chuckled.
It didn't help that she just showered and that she came out wearing my clothes.
I groaned inwardly. "It isn't what it looks like." I said.
"A girl that just showered came out your room, how will you explain it?" Seunghyun raised an eyebrow.
"She's just going to spend the night with me," I immediately covered my face in dismay. That didn't help. I think the situation got worse.
The other guys snickered. "Then I guess we should leave," Taeyang said.
"Too bad we have to go, we ordered pizza." Daesung added.
"Will you all calm down and shut up for a while?!" I exclaimed.
I heard another knock on my door. "Must be the pizza," Taeyang shrugged. The others were still looking at me as if they're expecting an explanation.
I let out a frustrated groan as I went to my room. I saw Paige sitting on my bed as she's fiddling with her fingers. "Sorry Jiyong," she said softly.
I shook my head, no way am I blaming this girl. I sat beside her. "Come out with me, let's explain to those idiots why you're here." I said. "They'll just think of more pointless stuff if you stay in here."
Paige did a half-smile and nodded. "I'll explain for you,"
We both left the room and as I expected they're all in front of the TV while eating pizza. "I hope you don't mind if we started eating without you." Seunghyun said as he took a bite of the pizza slice he's holding.
We walked over to them. This is normal for me though, these guys barge in my place all the time. It just so happens that this is the first time that someone else is with me in here.
"Hi," Paige shyly greeted.
The guys looked towards her and greeted her as well. "I just want to say that I'm here for a reason, please don't think of anything else. I just came over as a friend." she began explaining.
Taeyang snorted immediately. "Shoot, we all know that something happened between you two before."
Paige pulled me by my shirt towards her. "You never cleared up the misunderstanding back then, did you?" She whispered.
"You told me that I'll just make things worse so I made sure to shut up." I shrugged.
Paige looked really annoyed at the moment and I found it really amusing.
"That was a misunderstanding guys," she explained but the others look like they weren't going to buy her explanation anyways so she sighed in defeat. "I give up, I'm done explaining."
"There's really no need to explain. Jiyong sure is a lucky bastard to have you though." Daesung said as he chewed.
Paige and I exchanged looks and she's close to getting pissed. I secretly grinned. As much as I want to see her getting pissed off at these guys, I'd rather calm her down since her demon form might appear.
"Think whatever you want to think but Paige and I are just friends... Really close friends." I nudged her arm. "Right?"
"Yeah, it's cool to have someone else to talk to other than the guys at home." Paige said with a nod.
They all nodded. "If you say so," Taeyang shrugged. "By the way, come on and join us." he said as they moved to make some space on the floor for Paige and I.
About time they invited us, the pizza's almost gone.
I began eating with them but I noticed that Paige was just looking at the TV.
"Hey Paige, aren't you eating?" I asked. She suddenly looked startled.
"What?"
"You should eat. I only brought junk food at the store earlier, this is better... well it's not really healthy either but you get the point." I said.
She only shook her head. I scooted closer and faced her. "What's wrong with you?" I asked.
She scratched her head. "I'm just worried for the boys. I hope Suho, Luhan, and Sehun are okay now." she sighed. "I think I hurt them pretty badly."
"Oh right!" Taeyang snapped his fingers. "You were a demon earlier. What the hell happened? Weren't you a normal human?" He asked loudly. Daesung jabbed him in the ribs and made a gesture to keep his voice low since I have neighbors here. It's nearly midnight and I don't want to disturb anyone.
"Taeyang is right though, were you secretly a demon in the beginning? But wait, there was a change in her since last week right?" Seunghyun asked.
Paige shook her head. "I turned into a demon but... I don't know if it's okay to explain." she said uneasily.
Now that they mentioned it, I never really found out the specific reason as well. All I know is that Paige is claimed by Sehun and that they have an uncle who's just basically trying to ruin everything for them.
"Just tell us, you can trust us," Daesung smiled. "Please? I'm just dead curious since this is the first time I encountered such a thing."
Paige eyed me as if she's expecting me to stop them from asking. I shook my head. Even I am curious. Once curiosity kicks in our group, nothing's stopping us.
So Paige told us about that uncle. Everything is more messed up than I thought. She didn't tell about Sehun claiming her and that Sehun has two sides like her as well.
"That's really messed up, I feel sorry for you Paige. You shouldn't have been involved." Taeyang frowned.
"It's really complicated. The boys are always there for me though, I trust them enough." she smiled.
"But what will you do once everything takes full effect. Will you be able to control yourself? You know what happened earlier." Seunghyun asked.
"I honestly don't know. I'm really scared. I feel like I'm losing myself, I'm afraid that time will come and I'll be completely different."
"Hey," I nudged her. "Don't worry too much okay?" I smiled. "You have the guys to protect you, plus you're still everyone's favorite classmate. We'll be there for you."
Paige smiled back. We were just looking at each other when I suddenly heard snickering.
"That was so damn cheesy, Jiyong." Daesung snorted.
"This guy probably likes Paige," Seunghyun added.
I hit them with one of the cushions in the sofa. Seriously, these guys. Paige only giggled as she looked at us.
"What's so funny?" I asked.
"Seeing you guys like that just reminded me of home." she replied.
"You really miss them don't you?" Daesung asked and Paige nodded.
"But it's also fun here. I just hope they're okay. I hope Sehun recovers, he's badly hurt."
There's a spark of emotions in her eyes whenever she says Sehun's name. It's something I noticed since we've grown close. I think I was the only one that noticed that.
We stayed up the whole night watching movies and playing video game. The snacks I bought for Paige ended up getting eaten by the others. Good thing I have some popcorn, Paige even volunteered to make it.
"It's nearly four," Paige yawned.
"I told you that you can just sleep and leave us if you get drowsy." I said.
"I can't just leave you guys here," she told us.
"It's okay Paige, go to sleep. You need it." Taeyang said.
"Wait for a while," I told the guys. I pulled Paige upwards and led her to my room.
"I'll sleep on the couch." she groaned.
"No way, the guys are still there. Just sleep here, it looks like I'm not getting any sleep anyways." I chuckled.
"Is it really fine?"
"Of course it is, " I answered.
"Thanks," she muttered. She basically slumped herself onto my bed since she's really tired. I got out my room to join the guys again.
"You lucky bastard, what did you do to get a girl like Paige?" I nearly choked when Seunghyun asked.
"What the hell? I told you that we're just friends. You saw what happened at school earlier, she's too dangerous for Sehun and his brothers so she had to stay with me until they recover." I explained.
"But still... That's still Paige," Taeyang chuckled. "You tried feeding off her back then right? You have the chance now."
I shook my head. "I can't treat Paige like a toy,"
"Seems like you have a soft spot for her, huh?" Daesung raised one eyebrow. "Those brothers first and now even you, don't forget to include Taehyung."
"There's just something about her that makes you want to take care of her," I said.
They grinned. "Take care? Nice try Jiyong. By the way, we brought drinks but we weren't able to drink because of Paige." I saw that they actually brought cans of beer into my place.
"Are you planning on getting drunk at four in the morning?" I deadpanned.
"No, we're just leaving it with you. Perhaps, you'd find good use for it." Seunghyun smirked.
"Try to know what kind of drunk a good girl like Paige will be." Taeyang added.
I narrowed my eyes at them. "Hell no,"
They left at around six, I was really sleepy by then. I thought I'd have a hard time sleeping on the couch but I guess was too tired for that.
When I woke up, I was covered with a blanket. I stretched for a bit before walking into the kitchen.
"Hey," she greeted.
"Eh?"
"It's already noon, I woke up late as well so I couldn't prepare something better. I hope you don't mind that I used up what's in your fridge." Paige said.
"Thanks Paige," I told her.
"It's nothing, it's payment for letting me stay--though these are still your ingredients."
After eating, I helped her clean up. I took a shower and got changed, once I was back in the living room she was looking at my notebooks for class.
"You don't really take notes," she said as she flipped through the pages.
"You'll get nothing there, I don't need notes. It's all in here." I pointed my head.
She shook her head. "I wish I didn't need to take notes too. Anyway, I'll use the shower again. The guys might come to pick me up anytime, and I still smell like pizza and popcorn." she giggled.
"Go ahead, you know where to take my clothes from," I reminded.
While she was gone I looked at the plastic bag near the couch.
"Try to find out what kind of drunk a good girl like Paige would be."
Now I'm curious. I took one can and began drinking. After a while, Paige came out.
"Wanna drink?" I asked.
"You're drinking beer at noon, what are you thinking?" She frowned.
"Try it, let loose. The guys are strict towards you right?" I waved a can in front of her.
"I don't drink, alcohol tastes bad." she said.
"Give it a try, this is the only time you'll get to do this. Make most of it." I opened a can and handed it to her. "It's not like your underage,"
"You're up to something," she eyed me.
"I'm always up to something," I chuckled.
She rolled her eyes before taking a sip. "It's bitter, how do you drink this?"
"Drink large amounts, it's better that way." I told her.
She sat next to me and drank again. "Is there no particular reason why we're drinking?"
"They guys left that, we were supposed to drink last night. It'd be a waste."
"Jiyong, beer doesn't expire within a day." she deadpanned.
"But this is the only time that you're here. Plus, we can also get to know each other truthfully." I told her.
Surprisingly Paige joined me. Minutes later we found ourselves talking about our personal lives.
"I tell you Jiyong, I'll give my stepfather a beating once I see him." she groaned.
I shook my head as I drank once again. I looked at her. No wonder guys like it when their girls wear their clothes, Paige looked ridiculously adorable in my clothes.
I must be drunk.
"Jiyong," Paige said and I faced her. Her eyes were red. Damn, am I going to get beaten as well?
I flinched when her hand suddenly caressed my face. "Don't tell them," she playfully smiled.
I couldn't even process the moment. Our lips were about to touch when she suddenly began laughing.
"Oh my gosh, you were expecting it!" I looked at her in disbelief.
"What?!" Indeed I was. No lie there.
"Payback for trying to feed off me in the clinic. Now we're even!" She laughed loudly.
At least we're both drunk.
"What a tease," I grumbled as I drank more beer. She did the same and gave me a teasing smile.
I shot her a look and she suddenly narrowed her eyes at me. "Don't make any attempts."
I leaned towards her. "Like what?" I smirked.
She playfully pushed me away. "I am only Sehun's. You can't do anything to me."
I laughed. I don't know if I should be annoyed with what she said or not, I just found it cute.
I looked at the clock and it was already five. The hell? How long were we drinking?!
"Paige," I called her. "Paige, you need to stop drinking." I told her.
"Eh? But you said I should let loose." she pouted.
Darn it I don't have time for this!
"Paige, stay here. I'm going to buy some coffee in the lobby." I was about to leave but she clung onto my arm.
"Coffee? Why would you need coffee?" She groaned.
I suddenly heard a knock on my door. Oh darn. I slightly opened it and wished that it wasn't Baekhyun or the others but apparently luck isn't on my side since I saw Xiumin.
"Where's Paige?"
"Well... She's..." How do I tell him?
"Present!" I rolled my eyes when Paige opened the door fully to reveal herself. "I missed you," she hugged him.
Xiumin was so calm that it was scaring me. I explained everything and of course I got scolded for it. In the end he still thanked me.
"We'll be going then, go and drink some coffee too. Good thing your alcohol tolerance is high." he said as he looked at Paige. "We're leaving Paige,"
I handed Paige's bag to Xiumin. Before they left, Paige approached me.
"Thanks Jiyong, you're like... A really really really cool guy." she grinned.
"You're welcome anytime," I ruffled her hair.
"Thanks," she kissed my cheek before waving goodbye. Xiumin gave me one last look before they left.
I expected a punch from Xiumin but I guess he's one of the calmer ones.
I recalled everything that happened since last night and I couldn't help but smile to myself.
Paige Dee sure is one heck of an interesting girl.
