"Tell me if you're ready. Baby come and get it. Try a new thing. And let's spark a new flame."- Chris Brown

Kyrie- "I still can't believe your gonna be Chris Brown's personal assistant!" squealed my best friend Jaylon. We were chilling at Starbucks, sipping our caramel frappé's and taking full advantage of the free Wi-Fi.

"It's just temporary, until I get a job I actually want." I sighed as I scrolled through my Instagram feed.

Jaylon looked at me like I was stuck on stupid. "So your telling me that your not happy you got the job?" She questioned, raising her freshly waxed brows at me.

I took another sip of my frappé. "No... I'm happy. I'm just not excited." I answered honestly.

"Any girl would be excited to be in your shoes right now." Jaylon spat as she focused her attention on her Apple Laptop.

"I thought things would've been so different by now for me..." I sighed.

"What you mean?" Jaylon asked, still staring at her laptop screen.

"You know what I'm talking about Jay. I'm a UCLA graduate. I got my Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism. After all those internships I did in college, I thought at least one of them would have called me and offered me a full-time job. It's been 7 months after graduation and still no job offers." I said rolling my eyes.

"It takes time Ky. Just be patient." Jaylon replied looking up at me.

"That's easy for you to say. You got your fashion marketing job in no time." I smirked rolling my eyes.

Me and Jaylon had met freshman year during college. Turns out, we grew up in the same neighborhood back in Houston. We were both trying out for the basketball dance team. We became close after finding out that we were both being played by the same dude. Ironic I know. Jaylon was my ninja for life. We had went through a lot during college, both hustling to work part time, keep good grades, and stay active on campus. Our bond only got tighter after graduation. We currently shared a two bedroom apartment in the suburbs of L.A. Living in Los Angeles was expensive and we vowed to go through the struggle together than alone. My life changed completely after moving to California. I was completely on my own and a sistah had to hustle hard to get it, and make connections. It wasn't easy but I've come a long way since then.

"Don't get mad at me because fashion marketing is in a higher demand than broadcast journalism." Jaylon shot back.

"And let's not forget that I still owe 2k in student loans." I whined taking a bite of my blueberry muffin.

Jaylon rolled her eyes. "And I owe 3k. Now shut up and stop complaining. Besides this job is a wonderful opportunity. You get to see up close how a celebrity lives and you know Chris got connections. He might be able to hook you up."

"Woah slow down girl. I'm not about to use that man to my advantage." I said, frowning.

"Whatever." Jaylon said in a sing-song song voice.

"I hate you." I laughed looking back at my iPhone 6.

"I love you too."

We remained silent for the remainder of our time at Starbucks. I had to admit, I was nervous as hell about starting this job tomorrow. Not knowing what to expect was what made it even worse. I was a Chris Brown fan ever since his Run It and Say Goodbye days. But I knew that Chris Brown didn't exist anymore. From all the drama that started back in 2009 with him assaulting Rihanna to now, that nigga was a changed man for sure. He was a father now, had some crazy love triangle going on with Karrueche and Rihanna and baby mama drama. Anything was liable to go down tomorrow. I guess I'd just have to wait and see...

The Next Day...

Chris- "Aye ma!! Come here and tell me what you think?" I called out in the hallway. I had just put the finishing touches of my graffiti art in Royalty's play room. I decided to do a Disney outerspace theme with all the classic characters like Minnie and Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy riding on spaceships. My mom appeared from the hallway and stepped in the room.

"Ooh cut the fan on, that spray paint smell is really strong." mom said, scrunching her face.

"Oh my bad." I quickly turned the fan on and pointed to the wall. "You like?" I couldn't help but smile at my artwork. I hadn't been this happy in years.

Mom looked at the wall, nodding in approval. "I like. Royalty is gonna love this. Speaking of Royalty, have you talked to Nia about her coming this weekend?"

I rolled my eyes. "I did. She bringing her Friday night." I answered clenching my jaw. Me and my baby mama Nia wasn't on the best of terms right now. But that was a whole 'nother story.

"Well you need to get cleaned up like right now. Your meeting your newly hired personal assistant today. She's gonna be here soon." Mom said changing the subject.

I squinted my eyes at her. "I hired a new personal assistant? What happened to Monica?" I asked. I was so confused right now. I had been so focused on Royalty these past couple of months, that other stuff in my life had been neglected.

"Monica got pregnant with twins Chris, remember?" Mom smirked putting her hands on her hips.

I looked at the ceiling trying to remember but nothing came to mind.

Mom shook her head. "Sometimes I worry about you. Your memory bad these days, but anyways I took it upon myself to hire a new girl. She's a recent college graduate from UCLA and has been looking for work the past few months."

"What's her name?"

"Kyrie Taylor."

"OK. Cool."

"When she gets here just ask her a few questions about herself. Get to know her. Cause lord knows helping to manage your life can be overwhelming." Mom replied leaning against the door.

I sucked my teeth. "It's not that bad."

"That's what I said but I'm getting older Chris. I just want you to be happy and find peace. I know Royalty is the first step to that peace. After this mess gets settled with her, I'm going back to Virginia, ok?"

I nodded. "I hear you Ma." My mom had moved in temporarily to help me out with Royalty, once I discovered I was a father. I ain't know shit about changing baby diapers and making formula so my mama was by my side to help me along the way. If there was one person I knew would never turn their back on me, it was my mama. She was by my side through everything and I loved and appreciated her for that.

Mom smiled at me. "Now go get cleaned up. Your covered in spray paint!" She laughed walking down the hall.

I let out a deep breathe before running to my bathroom. I turned on the shower, stripped out of my spray paint covered clothes and hopped in the shower. I didn't know what this girl was gonna be like, but she needed to hop on board real quick to keep up with my crazy life. All these thoughts ran through my mind as the hot water hit my body.

30 minutes later...

Kyrie: "Well this is it." I looked at my phone checking the GPS location and sure enough I was in front of Chris Brown's house. It was huge. I was still nervous and the fact that I had to go through three series of gate entrances didn't make it any better. I got out of my car and clicked the speaker by the gate. A few moments later someone answered.

"Joyce Hawkins speaking. Are you Kyrie Taylor, the young lady here for the personal assistant job?"

I looked up and saw a camera not too far away from my face. It had only been five minutes and already I was getting a taste of how a celebrity lived.

"Y-yes ma'am. This is she." I stammered. I hated that I was so nervous.

"Ok hold on just a sec, I'll open the gate."

A few seconds later, the gate started to open and I got inside my car and drove past the gates. Man his house was beautiful. I shook my head at the six luxury cars parked in the driveway. Like why the fuck did this nigga need six cars?? My 2008 Honda Accord looked like trash compared to his 2016 models.

"Just be yourself Ky. You got this." I took a deep breathe and checked my appearance in the mirror. I wore my hair down with loose curls at the ends. My makeup was natural with a bold cateye, and nude lip. I wore a ocean blue Chanel two piece, slightly showing my mid section and nude colored Christian Louboutin high heels. I stepped out of the car, making my way to the door. I closed my eyes before ringing the doorbell. A few seconds later, Joyce Hawkins, Chris's mother, answered the door.

"You look so cute!" She said, opening the door wider.

"Thank you." I smiled.

"Please come in."

I stepped inside the house, not hesitating to admire the beautiful place. I scrunched my nose up at the strong spray paint smell.

"I apologize for the spray paint smell. Chris has many projects going on around the house at the moment." Joyce said leading me to the dining room.

"It's okay. I don't mind." I said, trying my best to calm my nerves.

"You can sit down if you want. Please don't hesitate to make yourself comfortable. Chris would say the same." Joyce chuckled sitting down.

I nodded and took a seat, admiring the house.

"So you graduated from UCLA right?" Joyce asked, breaking the silence.

"Yeah. Bachelor's in Broadcast Journalism. I thought that by now I would've been on a major or at least a local TV station doing reports, but I guess God has other plans for me." I sighed, getting mad all over again.

Joyce nodded. " You're right. Don't get discouraged. It's just a matter of time. Sometimes the plan we have for ourselves is different than what God has in mind. Just keep ya head up sweetie."

"Thank you. I needed that." I replied smiling. Joyce made me very comfortable with her and she seemed very easy to talk too.

"Chris should be down here any minute now. He been getting ready for the past 40 minutes." Joyce chuckled.

I ran my fingers through my hair. "I'm not in a rush or anything so it's no big deal." I shrugged.

"What's up?"

I recognized that deep husky voice.

"Oh there he is." Joyce said looking up. "Bout time you came down."

I looked up and sure enough it was Chris Brown in the flesh. My heart pounded in my chest from excitement and nervousness. "Hi."
