CHAPTER FORTY-ONE
Baekhyun's POV
Paige has been gone for quite a while now. I would've excused myself and went out but our teacher at this subject is very strict. She won't allow us to leave unless it's an emergency.
I just listened to the teacher since worrying won't get me anywhere. After a short while the door suddenly opened and I saw Paige...and she's with Jiyong.
Looking at both of them right now, I couldn't help but get confused. Paige looks like a complete mess. Her hair, her clothes and she looks flustered. Meanwhile Jiyong looks calm and composed but I know he's mentally smirking upon seeing everyone's reaction.
Just by looking at them, anyone could tell that something happened but I won't jump to conclusions yet.
Our teacher told the two to take their seats. Even our teacher is thinking the same, that's why she's so flustered.
I took a closer look at Paige as she took her seat. My doubts increased since she really looked like a mess right now.
"I didn't know that you're the naughty type Paige." my ears perked up when I heard Taehyung talking to Paige.
My eyebrows scrunched up in annoyance. This guy... you're not supposed to tell that to a girl as if it's the most casual thing in the world.
"Didn't think you'd be the type to sneak out for quickies," I nearly choked upon hearing Taehyung saying that.
I looked behind to shoot him a glare but Paige was currently looking at Jiyong who simply smirked at her.
I looked in front once again. She wouldn't fool around with Jiyong, right? It's impossible.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
I flinched when I heard Suho's voice in my head. "Nothing, just bothered by Paige."
"Heck, we all are. I wonder what she's been up to."
"We can talk to her later," I said.
I looked around the room and everyone is either looking at Paige or at Jiyong. This is so damn confusing.
"Class dismissed,"
I immediately turned to Paige once our teacher left but to my surprise, I wasn't the only one who wanted to talk to her at the moment.
"Paige, my girl. I didn't think you'd be this bold and daring. You have to tell us the details, naughty girl." my eyes widened at what Hwasa said.
"W-what?!" Paige exclaimed as her cheeks turned pink.
"Seriously, what did you and Jiyong do?" Jimin asked as he sat on Paige's desk.
"What? Him?!" Paige looked at Jiyong who was currently approaching Paige.
"What do you think?" Jiyong chuckled as he placed his hand on Paige's shoulder.
Paige looked at him questioningly. "What are you talking about?!"
"Was it a quick game of seven minutes in heaven?" Seunghyun asked and the class erupted in laughter.
"Can you all please just leave Paige alone?!" Suho yelled. Uh oh.
"Why Suho? We're just asking Paige" Mingyu explained.
"Just leave and go home," Suho said then he looked at Jiyong. "Except you because we still have stuff to talk about."
"It would be best if you'd all leave... please?" Paige said as she shyly looked up to them.
"Fine we'll go, killjoys." Hoseok groaned.
"Jiyong is going to get the talk with the elder brothers," Suzy teased.
Everyone did leave and Suho ordered Tao and Chanyeol to make sure that everyone is gone.
Meanwhile we're still here at the classroom with Jiyong. "What did you two do?" Luhan asked.
"Nothing," Paige answered.
"You came here looking like that then you're going to say nothing?" Xiumin asked.
Paige then looked at Jiyong. "Tell them! We just met outside!" she said desperately.
"Paige is right, we met outside." Jiyong said with a nod.
"See?" Paige sighed. "Can we please go home now? You all misunderstood."
"It still doesn't explain why you're looking like that Paige. I heard everything that Taehyung told you and you didn't deny his last sentence." I said and Paige looked like she wanted to slam her head on the desk.
"Oh you mean that she snuck out for a qui--ouch!" Paige suddenly pinched Chen before he could even continue.
"How can you even tell that?! That's not even supposed to be discussed at all!" Paige groaned.
Jiyong then leaned down near Paige and closed his eyes. "Her scent is different. She has a trail of someone left on her."
"It's not you?" Chanyeol asked.
"No," Jiyong chuckled as he shook his head. "Who else isn't around?" he asked.
We all looked around and my eyes widened in realization. "Sehun?! He's not in the room!" I gasped.
"You didn't know?!" Paige shouted as she stood up.
We all looked at her and she sat back down. Based on her actions, it was indeed Sehun again. Why did I even think it's Jiyong?
"I didn't attend the previous class and I saw Paige heading to the faculty. I also happen to see Sehun outside but he looked different." Jiyong explained.
I winced when I suddenly recalled that Sehun left to go to the washroom earlier. Damn, how can we not notice that he didn't come back?!
"We were too busy paying attention to class," Kyungsoo scratched his head. "We were stupid to not have noticed that."
"So you knew? You didn't even try approaching Sehun?" Chanyeol asked.
Jiyong thought for a moment. "I actually tried calling Sehun but he suddenly disappeared. I just shrugged it off and went out to the garden then I heard Paige's voice. It sounded like she's having an argument with someone so I looked for her. I looked through the gap of the door of the classroom and I thought I shouldn't have disturbed them so I left and just pretended to come across Paige afterwards."
Our mouths hung open after Jiyong's explanation. He knew. He knew this whole time.
"What?! Why didn't you barge in then?! I wouldn't have cared at all. You could have stopped him!" Paige stood up and shook his shoulders.
"Look, you're claimed by him right? I thought it was a normal thing that you'd do. Sehun would've punched me in the face if I interrupted him." Jiyong shrugged.
"You knew, Jiyong? Yet you brought Paige to the classroom and made it look like you had sex with her?" I asked.
Paige instantly turned red while Jiyong laughed. "Well at least it raised more questions. People might think differently if Paige came here alone looking like that so I made it look like we're together."
Paige looked at him in disbelief. "You do realize that you made things more embarrassing for me, right?"
"You'll get over it,"
Paige's jaw dropped while the other guys shot Jiyong a glare. Just like last time, he's just in it for the fun.
"Jiyong," Xiumin said as a warning.
"I'm kidding! Fine, tomorrow I'll explain to everyone that she did it with Sehun and they misunderstood that it's me." he said.
"No! It'll make things worse!" she snapped. "I-I didn't even..."
"Then what the hell did you two do in that classroom? Play charades?" Jiyong laughed.
"Please just shut up," Paige whined in frustration.
"Jiyong, you're not helping. Just spare Paige from the embarrassment," I told him. I do tease Sehun about stuff like these but it's different when it comes to Paige.
"Let's all just go home," Paige sighed. "You should head home too. Please forget about everything that happened."
"Of course Paige, anything for you." Jiyong teases.
"Where's Paige?!"
Silence lingered for a bit when Sehun entered the classroom in a hurry. His eyes land on Paige and he grimaces.
"Where were you?" Lay asked.
Sehun looked at each of us but his eyes stopped on Jiyong and Paige. "Why is he with you?" he asked.
"Why can't I?" I narrowed my eyes at Jiyong. He'll just end up provoking Sehun at this rate.
Sehun shook his head and looked returned his attention to Paige. "Paige, I'm... I'm sorry," Sehun looked down and he looked pretty mad at himself. "I just don't have any control of myself and...I," Suho made a gesture for Sehun to stop.
"Forget it. I don't want to recall it anymore anyways," I was a bit surprised at how cold Paige said it.
"But--"
"Please, it's okay. Just drop it." Paige said with a sigh.
We all looked at Paige in confusion. She's hiding something. I just know it.
"Well can I at least know why Jiyong is here?" Sehun asked.
"The whole class misunderstood something between me and Paige. But don't worry, it'll be fine," Jiyong replied.
Sehun still looked like he had doubts on Jiyong. "Is it okay for me to be close to Paige?" Sehun asked.
"Just keep the distance," Luhan answered.
"Let's head home then," Chen said. We all left the room together with Jiyong and we met up with Tao and Chanyeol outside.
"Sorry for the trouble," Xiumin said as we got near our van.
"Why are you apologizing? It's nothing," he chuckled. "It's fine with me."
I've been exchanging glances from both Sehun and Paige and I could tell that something else is bothering these two.
"I guess I actually owe you a thank you," Paige muttered as she scratched the back of her head.
"I thought I just made things worse?" Jiyong grinned in amusement.
"Well... whatever. Just, thank you." she smiled.
"Anytime," he suddenly leaned down and kissed Paige on the forehead.
"Hey!" Paige gasped in surprise.
"Hey! She's off limits." Kai pulled Paige away.
"It's just a kiss," Jiyong shrugged as if it's nothing.
"You just kissed her in front of all of us," Suho said. "And Sehun,"
I turned to Sehun and he's giving Jiyong a piercing stare. He must be pissed. Jiyong sure has guts, I'd give him credit for that.
"Why would you do that?!" Paige whined.
"I couldn't resist," Jiyong adds with a wink.
Paige shoots him a glare but her cheeks were pink. "Don't do that again."
"This?" he kisses her again.
"Okay, that's it! You've done too much." Chanyeol said.
"Will you just please stop it?!" Paige yelled. Her eyes glowed red for a moment but she looked surprised.
"Paige is a demon?"
Damn. Why is everything such a mess?
"No wonder her scent is changing. She's turning into a demon." Jiyong said as he looked at Paige from head to toe.
"Paige, get in the van." Xiumin said. "Now," he sounded so serious that Paige just followed him.
"Jiyong, I know time will come and everyone in class will find out but can we keep it among ourselves for now?" Luhan asked.
"But how did it happen?" he asked.
"It's a long story, but we can trust you right?" I answered.
"Sure, you can trust me." he said with a nod.
"We'll see you tomorrow then." Luhan said. The others entered the van but Sehun stopped as he was about to enter.
"Don't get too close with Paige," he said.
"Isn't that something that your brothers should say to you?" Jiyong chuckled and Sehun narrowed his eyes at him.
"Sehun, just get in." I interrupted. It'd be bad if these two get in an argument. Sehun gave one last annoyed glance to Jiyong before entering the van.
"Don't provoke Sehun and it'd be best if you don't get too close with Paige." I told him.
He smiles mysteriously before turning around and walking away. I entered the van as well and we headed home. Everyone just kept quiet the whole time.
Once we got home, Paige hurriedly went to her room. She said she needed to take a shower. Meanwhile the rest of us stayed at the living room.
"Why was Paige with Jiyong?" Sehun asked. "What happened between them?"
"Sehun, you can't just go asking that when you know what you just did to Paige earlier." Chen said.
"I'm just wondering why she's suddenly touchy with Jiyong," he averted his gaze.
He's jealous already just because of a kiss?
"You're bothered by that kiss aren't you?" Tao laughed.
"Sehun listen, don't get too possessive. Jiyong might have been too overboard earlier but you did do some messed up things." Kyungsoo said as he crossed his arms.
"I'm just worried," Sehun explained. "I said some bad things while I was in my demon form and Paige might hate me for it."
"What did you say? And why are you worrying so much? Paige never hated you, so why worry now?" I asked.
"Forget it, forget what I said." and with that he left.
We all exchanged looks when he left. He's too obvious. "Even Paige looked bothered by something," Kai said.
"Let's not probe in. Both of them seem like they don't want to talk about it anyway. One of them will tell us eventually once they're ready." Xiumin told us. "Get some rest," he ordered.
Everyone headed to their own rooms, I stayed in the living room for a while since I wasn't tired yet.
"Baekhyun?" I turned and I saw Paige.
"Why are you still up?" I asked her. She just took a seat beside me.
"I'm not yet sleepy," she grumbled. "I was going to get something to drink but I saw you."
"Do you want to talk about something? You look bothered." I pointed out.
She hugged her knees and sighed. "I don't know anymore Baekhyun. I'm so confused." she said.
I looked at her in confusion. She's not going to say that she likes Jiyong right?
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"It's Sehun," she replied. What was I thinking? Of course it's Sehun.
"Is it about earlier?" I asked her.
"He said some things that confused me. His demon form knows that I love him."
I wasn't surprised though. I know he's bound to find out one of these days.
"And he said I'll just get hurt," she continued. "Because I'm nothing to him."
"Paige, that's his demon form." I explained.
It's impossible for Sehun to intentionally say that to Paige. Sehun is obviously IN LOVE with her. He even got jealous of Jiyong.
"But still... it hurt when he said that," she covered her face with her hands.
"Paige," I called as I scooted near her.
"Sometimes I just think that Sehun and I just aren't meant for each other. We might be stuck together and we are living together but the closer we get something just keeps separating us." I saw tears forming in her eyes but she kept looking at the ceiling to prevent them from falling.
"I mean look at how low I've gotten? I let him use me once again. I just feel like I'm nothing but his slut." she suddenly ended up breaking into tears.
"No Paige, you're not. Don't think that way," I patted her back to calm her down.
"One moment he makes me feel like I'm special then next thing I know, I'm just something to satisfy his craving," she sobbed.
She got this affected because of something that Sehun said. Knowing that she's this affected just proves how much she really loves him.
"Listen to me Paige," I made her look at me. "Sehun and his demon form are different. We both know that right? He may be physically the same but they are different personalities. You mean a lot to Sehun and I'm sure he'd never say something like that to you intentionally. Paige he--" I stopped myself before I could blurt out that Sehun loves her.
"What? He's what?" Paige snivelled.
"He's my brother, I know he won't say such a thing especially to you." I said as an excuse.
"But did you forget that he hurt you too back then? He hurt us." she asked.
"He's family. No matter what he does, I'd always forgive him. I can never hate him." I said with a smile.
Family will always be my priority. That's why I managed to let go of my feelings for Paige for Sehun's sake.
"But what about me? I'm just a stranger right? It's different in my case." Paige asked.
"But you love him, right?" I moved the strands of hair that were covering her face. "I'm sure you'll be able to forgive him,"
"Did you ever regret having feelings for me? I just caused a stir between you and Sehun." she looked down.
"I didn't... Paige until now you've always been special to me but I trust Sehun. If I didn't like you, I never would've gotten back the bond that Sehun and I used to have when we were younger," I answered.
"Thanks for being with me Baekhyun, sorry for bringing that up again."
"Come over here," I opened my arms and smiled. Paige scooted closer and I wrapped my arms around her. "Don't think about that okay? Sehun cares for you, that's something everyone knows." I said.
I would've told her that Sehun loves her as well but that's something he needs to do on his own.
I waited for Paige to calm down before releasing my hold. I froze when our eyes met because I noticed that they were red.
"You're a sweet guy Baekhyun, it's such a shame that we had to let each other go." I moved away from her. Is this the other form that Sehun told us about?
"I believe I don't have any business with you," I gulped as she moved nearer.
I was going to stand up but she jumped on me causing me to land my back onto the couch.
"Weren't you curious if I would do to any of you whatever I did to Sehun?"
I was about to answer when she suddenly cupped my face and kissed me. "Paige, no." I pushed her off and I stood up.
She suddenly appeared in front of me. "I know you want this," she kissed me once again and this time I couldn't push her away anymore.
"Paige?"
I suddenly broke the kiss and my eyes widened in shock when I saw Sehun standing across the room.
He looked angry and pissed but I can see hurt in his eyes. "Sehun, I can explain." I said but without any words he left the room.
