The race ended with Lando finished in 6th and Daniel in 16th, and as you all already know, Max got first as always.
Once Lando got out of the car he headed straight to a briefing with the engineers and strategy people. Meanwhile I was still in his drivers room, because I wanted to avoid people asking about our relationship now that it was officially out.
When Lando was finally done for the day he came to get me and we headed back to the hotel. At the hotel we both took a shower and ordered in food, to avoid any press, because everywhere we went people took pictures.
We started talking about the next race, which was the Italian GP. I told Lando that McLaren hadn't arranged an airplane ticket for me yet, "Don't worry about that Bri if anything you'll just hop on Max's jet with us, I'd rather you be there with me honestly." "I'm just worried about the reason why they haven't gotten me one. I think I'm getting fired" "I'll talk to them Bri, they can't fire you for that, we'll figure something out," "I know I just don't know how'd I'd be able to travel around with y'all if I do get fired"
"Bria if you get fired It won't be the end of the world think about it for a moment, me and you really only need one hotel room, which McLaren already provides me, you'd need a flight, which we can thank Max's private jet for, and that's it really. I want you to travel with me no matter what, we'll always figure something out, and do so in a way that respects your want to be financially independent."
The next morning when we got to "work" we
got called down to someone from HR's office. "Lando, Bria please take a seat" we did as they'd said and sat down in their office. I was impatiently waiting for the words, you're fired , to come only I wasn't hearing them.
"McLaren has come to the conclusion that they can't have both of you working here and dating at the same time, now you have one of two options Bria. The McLaren team has talked to Red Bull and have found you a spot to work on their social media managing team, or you can continue working for McLaren, only you can't be dating Lando. I feel like we can all agree the best option here is Red Bull, yes?" Lando and I looked at each other in unison understanding that Red Bull really was the best offer for me at the moment , "I agree, too send I'll start filling out my letter of resignation" "sounds great, the McLaren team will truly miss having you here" Lando leaned in and whispered "I know at least I will" while the lady was typing up something on the computer.
By the time we got out of earshot Lando and I started to speak, "guess I'm going back to wearing Red Bull" "At least you still have a job that lets you travel around with me" "You're absolutely right love, I'm gonna go over to RB's office today and figure everything out in time for the Italian Grand Prix since everyone's leaving tomorrow." "Ok good luck there love, I'll see you later at lunch still right?" "You bet"
When I went down to Red Bull I saw Daniel and Max "Bria what are you doing here?" "Oh come one Max I think we're close enough for you to call me Bri, and uh I'm going to be working for RN now" "Did McLaren fire you because of your relationship with Lando?" "You guessed it" "It's honestly funny your coming here when you your brother's going to McLaren" "Ya, very funny Max, can you see how amused a look" "Sorry guess it's a sore spot" I rolled my eyes at him and walked on.
I went into Red Bull's management office and figured everything out, it was too late for a plane ticket since the flight was tomorrow night, but I told them not to worry, since I'd do what Lando said and take Max's private jet with him.
After that I went out to catch up with Lando so we could go "home." When I found him, we were walking to his car then told me there was going to some drivers dinner, " Do you think you'd want to go with me? It'll be when we get to Italy after the gp I think, and it's not anything too crazy it's only semi-formal" "In that case Lando, you need to take me dress shopping soon" "Gladly, just let me know when you wanna go love" "ok" "Actually Bri, you wanna go right now?" "Right now, right now?!" "Ya, that's typically what now means" "but it's 6pm the stores are going to close soon, do you know how long dress shopping takes?" "You'll have enough time trust me, I know about this dress boutique near by" "alrighty then let's get going I guess" we went to his car and he started to drive, he reached out and put his hand on my thigh keeping it there until we reached the boutique. It's funny to think he still gives me butterflies even though we're dating.
