"Amelia, i'm freaking out over here" Madelyn says
"Oh for goodness sakes, put the stupid book down" Amelia replies
"Is April even pregnant yet?" Maggie asks
"Potentially" Madelyn replies
"Potentially- So why are you reading that book already?" Maggie asks
Before Madelyn had the chance to reply Amelia asks "Haven't you already read that anyway?"
"Technically, but that time of my life i've decided to block out of my memories, so I need a refresher" she replies
"So, I'm just wondering if maybe we should rethink the resident-rotation system. I mean, make sure that our residents get an equal opportunity on every specialty" Callie says leading Richard into the attending's lounge
"Isn't that happening?" he replies
Callie sighs "Well, there's a danger that our residents are being monopolized by a single attending"
"She's talking about Blake" Amelia says
"You know what?" Callie says to Amelia
"Isn't Blake with Grey?" Richard asks
Callie nods "Yes, and she has been since she got here. I worry she's not getting a full education. And Grey is... She's... she's running her ragged"
"Residency runs you ragged. We've all been there, Torres. You know this as well as anyone" Richard says
"No, but this is different. This is different. I think it's personal" Callie says
"Is it that you want to spend more time with your girlfriend?" Amelia asks
"Amelia come on" Madelyn sighs
"Amelia, could you please..."
"I mean, you are saying that it's personal" Amelia says
"Hey, hey... all right. All right. Has Blake expressed this concern or just you?" Richard asks
Callie stumbles on her words "Okay. She's..."
"Blake stays with Grey. We don't have a policy to move around residents to accommodate your personal lives" Richard says
"No, that's not what I was saying" Callie says
"If Blake has a problem, she comes to me" Richard replies
"Hey, all" Nathan says walking into the attending's lounge "Uh, I was just wondering if someone could tell me where I can get some scrubs"
Madelyn looks at the man in confusion, what the hell is he doing here
"Uh... Third floor by the dispensary" Maggie replies
"Cheers. You're, uh, Dr. Pierce, right?" Nathan says
"Mm-hmm"
"Yeah, I-I just wanted to say I'm super excited, and I can't wait to get started"
"Great" Maggie replies awkwardly
Nathan nods slowly "Okeydokey. Yep. Hi Dr. Shepherd" he says sending a small wave to the brunette
"Hey" Madelyn toeless with her nose still in her book
When Nathan leaves, Amelia asks "Who was that?"
"I don't know" Maggie replies
"Maddy?" Amelia asks
"Huh?"
"Nothing" Amelia replies

"Finally. God, what took so long?" Maggie asks walking into the kitchen
"Whoa, relax. This was nice of me, remember?" Madelyn replies
"I didn't know you were gonna make the food" Maggie says
"She's cranky" Amelia says "Bailey hired a new cardio guy without telling her"
"Oh Riggs, yeah he's Aprils friend from Jordan" Madelyn says
"So that's how you know him" Amelia says
"It just means I'm gonna have to train another alpha male not to pee all over the place" Maggie says
"Mnh. I hate it when they pee" Meredith says
"Derek peed a lot" Madelyn says
"Oh, come on. We're not like that" Alex says through a mouthful of food
"When you got here, you peed everywhere. It was disgusting. You had to be trained" Madelyn says
Alex frowns at her "Nobody trained me"
"We trained you. It was subtle. You didn't notice" Meredith says
"Not even that" Maggie says "It's the patients. It's the way that they always look to the man in the room first no matter who is talking to them"
"Yes" Amelia says in agreement
"That's a thing?" Alex questions
"Not for you" Amelia says
"And then there's the whole other thing. You know, I just... I thought I was done with that here. This guy just comes in. He's taking consults without even talking to me about it..." Maggie says
"What whole other thing?" Amelia asks "That? Come on, is that a thing?"
"Of course it is" Maggie says
"Here?" Amelia questions
"Yeah, here. Anywhere. Ask Edwards. Ask Bailey" Maggie says
"I can't believe that" Amelia says
Maggie sighs "That's 'cause it's not your thing"
Madelyn looks down at her phone "Shit" she says
"What?" Amelia questions
"It's date night" Madelyn says "A date that I planned, and forgot"
"You're a terrible person" Alex mutters
"Oh yeah and you're just perfect"
"Exactly" he replies
"Yeah, when I say Jo tells me everything, I mean everything" Madelyn says "What do I do?" she asks putting her phone away
"Well, first don't ignore her messages" Maggie says
"Right"
"Just apologise" Amelia says
"Very helpful" Madelyn replies
"It doesn't matter what you do" Meredith says "Just go do it with her"
"Or I could pretend i've got a deadly disease-"
"Madelyn" Maggie and Meredith scold
"Get outta here" Amelia says as she hides her laugh

As Madelyn gets into her car she sends April a message telling her to stay at the restaurant and that she be there in a minute
As soon as she arrives she rushes in, slowing down once she catches a glimpse of the redhead "Hi honey" she says taking a seat
"Don't 'hi honey' me" April says "40 minutes i've been sat here waiting"
"Shit" Madelyn says
"Shit? Really? Is that all you have to contribute?"
"I mean- I'm sorry- I forgot. I'm sorry" Madelyn apologies
"I don't care!" April snaps making everyone look over at them
"April, what- what's going on?" Madelyn asks knowing this isn't just about her
"Three times, Madelyn" April says "We've tried three times, and its not working"
"It wasn't po-"
"No" April says "It was negative. Again. I'm not pregnant. Again"
"Well- let's not give up just yet" Madelyn says "Sometimes these things just take time"
"What if it's me?" April asks
"What?"
"What if my body just isn't made for having babies- what if- what if it was my fault with Samuel-"
"April that's not how that works" Madelyn says "There's nothing wrong with you. I promise" she says sympathetically "I think we should go home sweetheart"
April slowly nods "Yeah"
