I let the water run down my face in the shower i looked at my body the bruises had begun to fade and cuts have become less raw i looked above my breast where i had been stabbed was a horrible fresh scar. I turned off the shower angrily and grabbed a towel wrapping round my body. I walked down the corridor dropping water on the wooden floor. I got into my room to see Dee lighting up a cigarette.
"Smoking kills" I muttered
She stared at me incredulously "Have you seen the hell hole were in smoking is the least of my worries"
"Your right" I laughed
I shook my head about trying to dry my hair. I went over to the mirror what was i going to do with myself thats when i noticed it the dress a long flowing gown,one shouldered white and gold grecian dress I ran over too it and scooped it up into my hands twirling it around, finally something in this place had made me happy.
Dee laughed at my reaction "Your dress is a lot nicer then mine or anyone elses i have seen everyone usually gets a plain black or navy dress yours is certainly something"
"Thank you" i smiled
"Well i am going to give you the room to yourself i'm going to the common room get yourself all beautified and make sure your ready for lady lila at 8:30 and when i get back you can tell me everything" She smiled as she left the room then stopped in the doorway "Oh and be careful his beauty will get to you it gets to everyone but he is not a nice person don't forget that when you start to feel maybe he isn't a bad guy think of the girl that was killed today" she gave me one more reassuring smile and left closing the door behind her.
I stood motionless then sat on my bed putting my head between my legs and breathing unevenly I hadn't really had a moment alone since i got here and it had finally just kicked in that i was going to dinner with the Master Callum the man feared by everyone in this building, I started trying to convince myself i would be fine its not like anyone was killed from these dinners with Callum
"Shit" i cursed at myself i hadn't asked if it was a regular occurance. I began hyperventilatiing then peeked over at the clock on Dees side dresser 45 minutes to get ready i groaned so much for looking my best there was no point avoiding this i wasn't getting out of it
"Don't lie to yourself Kit death is another option" I pursed my lips in thought not even caring i was literally talking to myself could i just kill myself. No Kit your strong you stayed with your mother and sister when you could have and should have run away and who am i kidding i faced death the other night and i don't think i could do it again. A tear rolled down my face i wiped it away fiercely.
"Thats it Kit" i said confidently "No more being pushed around and timid only way you are gonna survive this place"
I grabbed the make-up bag that had been left on the bed emptying it all over the dresser. I looked at my choices i wasn't much of a cake on make-up person. I started dragging the foundation brush along my face it was oddly relaxing. I picked up the mascara
"Great" i muttered this was the second ever time i was going to put on mascara my first time hadn't worked out so well i had poked myself in the eye. I raised the mascara stick to my eyelashes slowly brushing them. I breathed a sigh of relief as i blinked looking at my newly illuminated eyes wow that works wonders i got the gold eyeshadow painting my eyelids the gold matching my dress. I pouted my lips at the mirror and put on my lip gloss I smiled i looked ok scared as hell but ok the smile on my scared face quickly faded when i realized how messy my hair was. I had let my hair dry naturally which was never good my hair was a half curly half straight mess i groaned.I pulled back the mess into a bun letting two curly pieces hang to the front.
I fell onto my bed relief washing over me i looked presentable at least. I picked up the dress gently taking it off the hanger i unzipped the side and stepped into it. I zipped it back up and shoved on the gold stripy heels that had been left out.I looked in the mirror for one last time the dress hung on me perfectly around my bust and curves. I twirled around excitedly i had never owned make-up, heels or this dress this dress probably cost what my father drank in alcohol, which was a lot.I looked over at the clock 8:29 i headed over to the door pulled down the handle to see Lady Lila leaning against the wall she looked me over twice
"You will do" she lifted herself up from the wall "Follow me" she said with a sigh
"Do this a lot" i asked trying to get off on the right foot with her
She looked at me incredulously "Your confident you think you can just talk to the higher ranks not only that but the institutes second in command"
I wasn't backing down easily but i didn't want to get killed "I guess i am"
She shrugged "Yes i do do this a lot overtime a new student comes along Callum has to have dinner with them I don't see why he has me" she muttered then shook her head dismissing her thoughts and narrowed her eyes "Say anything to anyone i won't think twice about killing you"
"I won't" I promised
She nodded "You would do well not to talk as much as soon as you have this dinner do not i repeat do not speak unless spoken to do you understand"
I nodded "Sure" pfft i was gonna say what i wanted.
I kept following her we reached a spiral staircase she began ascending the steps,I looked up the staircase and then at my shoes. I sighed i was clumsy enough as it was adding heels and a staircase would be stupid.I grumbled and took off my heels walking up the staircase bare foot. Lila looked back at me and at the heels now held in my hands and smirked.
When we reached the top of the staircase i shoved the heels back on, and tried to catch up with Lila who was storming ahead of me.
"Hurry up" she said demandingly and then she groaned "Your gonna be late and i'm gonna get the end of it"
"I was ready for 8:30" I said defensively
"Such insolence don't dare talk back to me" she screeched through gritted teeth
"I was merely stating a valid point"
"He had to pick you we had an agreement no more of them for now" she muttered under her breath
"I didn't ask to be saved he could have just let me die" i screamed
She slapped me square across the face i fell back a few steps my hand clinging to my face. My face stung. I looked at Lila seeing her looking furious "HOW DARE YOU" she said through gritted teeth "Master Callum save your life you will do well to know your place if i hear anything other then praise and respect about him i will personally kill you myself and i don't care about the repercussions" she started down the corridor. I stood in silence for a moment hand still clung to my face but began to walk whatever nice impression i had off her just went out the window. I could feel myself building with anger when she stopped in front of two huge gold double doors it was only then that i realized we were on a different level of the building an unlike the level where my room was this level furnished with plush carpet, lavish wallpaper, statues plants and pictures everywhere and a lot of gold.
She began to twist the handle of the doors then stopped bent down to my ear and whispered "Just remember your life is hanging by a thread" and with a smirk she pushed me into the room "She's here" she shouted in gave me one last look over then left.
I looked around the room there roof was windows the night sky above me, there were paintings off whom i recognized as Callum wow somebody loved themselves like the hallway everything was furnished to the highest standards looking around i realized this was only a dining room then thinking of the size of this level i concluded Callum had a lot of free space and rooms. I stared at the large oak table placed in the middle of the room cutlery set on it.
He stepped out from a door on my right he stopped in his tracks his eyes widened then he slowly looked me up and down i smile crossing his face.
"Stunning" he murmured then he snapped back into reality he smiled a huge grin bearing his teeth i shuddered he noticed this which made his smile grow even wider a small laugh passing his lips
He walked over to me putting his hand on the small of my back it was electrifying i gasped quietly the smile would not leave his face i would love to wipe it off him. He sat me in the chair next to the head of the table he didn't pull out my chair just pointed to it then took his own seat PIG i thought.
He picked up a small bell that sat beside his plate and began to ring it quite fiercely i looked from the bell and trailed my eyes up his muscular arms to his chiseled face slight stubble around his jaw, beautiful full lips, messy dark hair, and smoldering bluish grey eyes. He didn't wear a suit as i expected a tight jumper that showed off every ab he had with jeans and army boots. God Dee was right how can you look at him and think bad things he was just so god damn drop dead gorgeous with that his eyes caught mine and i knew just knew this night would be a disaster.
