Himiko was waiting outside her math class for Kokichi to come pick her up. She smiled and sighed in relief when she saw him.
"Nyeh...thank goodness, you're here!" she said, walking up to him.
"Why?" Kokichi asked, smiling and raising his brow curiously.
"There was a weird girl in there who wouldn't leave me alone," Himiko replied.
"What was her name?" Kokichi asked. Himiko opened her mouth to respond, but immediately shut it.
"Um...I forgot," she admitted. "I think it was something like...Trinket?"
"Trinket?? " Kokichi repeated, squinting in confusion. "I don't know anybody with that name."
"Nyeh...or was it Tulip? Turnip? Tinkle? Trombone? Tampon?" Himiko mumbled. Kokichi snorted and shook his head, chuckling.
"What did she look like?" he asked.
"She was wearing blue, and she had this big, green flower on the back of her head," Himiko answered.
"Oohhh...hahaha, you mean Tenko," Kokichi laughed.
"Yeah, that's it! Tenko!" Himiko said. "Oh, my! Now I understand why you can't get my name right. Remembering names is hard."
"Hm? Nee-heehee...oh, I know your name, I just say it wrong on purpose," Kokichi said with a cheeky grin. Himiko crossed her arms and gave him her angry, pouty stare. "Whaaaat?" Kokichi asked, shrugging his shoulders. Himiko continued to pout. Kokichi sighed. "Okaaay, okay, I'll say your name right from now on, Himiko." Himiko smiled happily at him.
"Eeeee! You said my name!" She threw her arms around him and kissed him on the cheek, causing Kokichi to blush.
"Whoa! Kokichi, who's your friend?" asked Kaito, who walked up to them with curiosity. Kokichi gave him a smug grin.
"Remember when you said that nobody would wanna be friends with me? Welp, looks like you were wrong, Kaito, cuz this is my girlfriend, Himiko!" he replied. Kaito raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"Hey! Good for you, man!" he exclaimed with a big smile. He reached out his hand to Himiko. "Nice to meet you, Himiko!" Himiko looked at Kaito with uncertainty.
"Um...sorry, I can't touch you. I already have a boyfriend," she apologized.
"Huh? But I'm only askin' you to shake my hand," Kaito said. "There's nothin' wrong with that, right, Kokichi?" Kokichi shrugged.
"What can I say? She's very loyal," he replied with a smirk. "She's unlike Maaaaki. If Killer Girl was ordered to, she'd kill you in a heartbeat!"
"You take that back about Maki!" Kaito boomed. "Don't make her out to be some heartless, cold-blooded killer!"
"But that's exactly what she is," Kokichi sneered.
"SHUT UP!!!" Kaito roared. Kokichi wrapped his arms around Himiko and pulled her back.
"Ssshhh...don't make any sudden movements, Himiko," he said in a low, mocking voice as he continued to smirk at Kaito. "The Kaitosaurus Rex can't see you if you don't move."
"Ugghhh...whatever, Kokichi," Kaito growled. "Good luck keeping a girlfriend, because you sure as hell are gonna need it." He then stomped off, leaving Kokichi and Himiko alone in the hall with other lingering students.
"Nyeh...who was that guy?" Himiko asked.
"You don't need to know," Kokichi replied, waving his hand dismissively. "What's important now is the plan."
"What plan?" growled a voice from behind them. They turned to see Tenko, glaring daggers at Kokichi with suspicion. Himiko gasped, then leaned to the side to whisper in Kokichi's ear.
"That's the craaaazy girl," she said.
"I knoooow," Kokichi whispered back playfully. Then, he flashed Tenko a cheeky grin. "Nee-heehee...why so angry, Tenko? Do you need to get laid?"
"I'll show you who needs to get laid!!" Tenko roared, grabbing Kokichi's arm.
"HEY!! YOU LET HIM GO RIGHT NOW!!" Himiko ordered. Tenko instantly relinquished Kokichi's arm. Himiko pointed down the hallway. "Nyeh! You are considered a threat to my boyfriend and me. You need to leave the premises immediately!"
"H-Himiko, I...I..." Tenko stuttered.
"Now!" Himiko demanded, looking Tenko in the eye. With a timid and shameful squeak, Tenko scurried away.
"Woooow, Himiko! That was pretty impressive!" Kokichi marveled.
"Nyeh...it's a fairy god girlfriend's duty to also protect her boyfriend," Himiko explained.
"I see!" Kokichi replied, smiling deviously. I'll keep that in mind, just in case! he thought to himself. Or maybe you should be thinking about protecting her yourself, another thought popped into his head. He blinked, surprised at himself for thinking that particular thought. Where did it come from? Perhaps it came from his feelings that seemed to be growing for her. He shook his head to clear his thoughts.
"Um...anyway, we should get to third period, Himiko," Kokichi said, grabbing her hand and pulling her along. "You remember our prank for Hiyoko, right?"
"Nyeeeh...about that, Kokichi," Himiko began. Kokichi stopped walking and stared at her.
"You don't wanna do it anymore?" he asked.
"It's not that," Himiko replied shyly. "It's just...well, remember when you wished for a chocolate cake, and I messed everything up? Well, what if everything goes wrong again?"
"Well, did you fix your wand? You did say it might have been malfunctioning," Kokichi pointed out. Himiko hung her head.
"It wasn't the wand," she mumbled sadly.
"So, then you don't know how to use it, like I said before," Kokichi confirmed. Himiko nodded. "Why don't you know how to use your own wand?"
"I...I failed wand training," Himiko replied abashedly.
"Wand training?!" Kokichi repeated incredulously. "Fairy godgirlfriends have to be trained to use their wands?! Can't you just...wave it?!"
"Granting wishes isn't as easy as it seems," Himiko explained. "It takes concentration and confidence. Without those two things, you can't channel your magic properly. And because of that, the magic becomes all wonky." Kokichi thought back to when Himiko's magic was going haywire.
"Hey, you kept saying something about not listening to them, and that they're wrong about you," he said. "Who were you referring to?"
"The fairy godmother, and even the other fairy godgirlfriends," Himiko replied. "They don't really think I have what it takes to be a fairy godgirlfriend, but I begged the fairy godmother to give me a chance." Kokichi felt a slight pang of sympathy rise in his chest. "Remember the fairy godgirlfriend I told you about? The one who slept in the same bed with her boyfriend?" Kokichi nodded. "Everyone had confidence in her because she was beautiful and had the 'perfect body.' Because of that, she was confident in herself, and not only could she wave her wand and grant wishes correctly, she ended up with a permanent boyfriend."
"Is that a fairy godgirlfriend's goal?" Kokichi asked. "To have a permanent boyfriend?" Himiko nodded. "How does that happen?"
"The boyfriend has to make the most important wish," Himiko replied.
"You mentioned that before, but...what is that?" Kokichi pressed. "What's the most important wish?"
"Like I said before, you'll know it when you feel it," Himiko answered. Kokichi stared at her intently, trying to think of what the wish could be.
"Hmm, well...I don't know what that is, but for now, let's focus on Hiyoko, okay?" he finally said. Himiko nodded with uncertainty. Kokich smiled at her, this time, genuinely. "Come on. You can do it. I mean, you chased away Tenko. That was pretty cool. If you can do that, I'm sure you can grant a wish. You are a fairy godgirlfriend, after all, riiiight?" Himiko smiled shyly, and nodded.
"Okay," she replied. Smiling, Kokichi took his hand in hers and led her to History class.
