Marinette's friends mourning her death
For better clarification, this starts around the beginning of December and ends around Christmas
Let me tell you what I wish I'd known
When I was young and dreamed of glory
You have no control
Who lives, who dies, who tells your story?
The world was silent to Luka, which was something he had never experienced before. The winter was cold, colder than usual, and his heart was empty.
The one girl he loved more than anything in the world was now gone. And she took his soul with her.
President Jefferson
I'll give him this, his financial system is a work of genius
I couldn't undo it if I tried
And I've tried
Who lives, who dies, who tells your story?
Mrs. Bustier sniffed as she multitasked. Her star pupil was now gone, and it took some of the life out of the classroom.
Marinette had also been filling out class representative work at the time as well, so when she died Alya refused to do it and left Mrs. Bustier to do it.
Every question or idea that came to mind made the teacher think of her student. She didn't know how she managed it.
Then she recalled the girl looking stressed and asking Alya for help. Her response? She said she wasn't going to help until she was better to Lila. The teacher said no prior because she was busy grading papers, so Marinette had to do it all on her own.
That explains why she continuously fell asleep in class. Everything made so much more sense as the teacher broke down.
Her sobs echoed throughout the school.
President Madison
He took our country from bankruptcy to prosperity
I hate to admit it
But he doesn't get enough credit for all the credit he gave us
Who lives, who dies, who tells your story
Marinette's friends and parents suffered more than everyone else. Her friends were the ones that found her. It was all an accident.
Before that, Marinette said she was going to take a nap, then they could watch Christmas movies all night. But when they came over to get her, she was unresponsive, pale, and had an almost empty bottle of sleeping pills next to her.
The pills were prescribed to her, because her parents noticed she lacked sleep. The surprise was that there were so many missing, because the bottle was over halfway full earlier that day. And Marinette was responsible enough to not overdose, and she would tell someone if she was feeling lower lately.
Sabrina had a gut feeling something was horribly wrong here. She asked her dad to investigate her suspicions.
Based on the information and how she acted before, Marinette didn't commit suicide.
This was a murder.
Every other founding fathers' story gets told
Every other founding father gets to grow old
And when you're gone, who remembers your name?
Who keeps your flame?
Who tells your story?
Who tells your story?
Who tells your story?
Eliza
I put myself back in the narrative
Eliza
I stop wasting time on tears
I live another 50 years
It's not enough
Eliza
Luka was heartbroken, but he nearly shut down completely when his girlfriend's case was now seen as a murder. It did make sense, but he couldn't fathom who would possibly want to kill Marinette.
Except maybe two people.
Alya and Lila did seem to be annoyed by Marinette, but surely they wouldn't go as far as to kill Marinette right?
Wrong. And it was all Alya's fault.
I interview every soldier who fought by your side
(She tells our story)
I try to make sense of your thousands of pages of writings
You really do write like you're running out of time
I rely on Angelica
While she's alive, we tell your story
She is buried in Trinity Church near you
When I needed her most, she was right on time
Without Chloe, Kagami, his sister, or his mom, Luka would have fallen deep into depression. It was finally processing that his melody was truly gone and the funeral was the next week. He hasn't played a note since she died.
And I'm still not through
I ask myself, what would you do if you had more time
The Lord, in his kindness
He gives me what you always wanted
He gives me more time
I raise funds in D.C. for the Washington Monument
(She tells my story)
I speak out against slavery
You could have done so much more if you only had time
And when my time is up, have I done enough?
Will they tell your story?
Oh, can I show you what I'm proudest of?
Marinette's parents donated the money people gave them for a burial to create a memorial for their daughter. It wasn't much, but it was a bench with Marinette's name engraved in it by a wall. On that wall, there were flowers watered and taken care of every day. That bench was visited frequently, and Luka was always spotted there.
(The orphanage)
I established the first private orphanage in New York City
(The orphanage)
I help to raise hundreds of children
I get to see them growing up
(The orphanage)
In their eyes I see you, Alexander
I see you every time
And when my time is up
Have I done enough?
Will they tell your story?
Oh, I can't wait to see you again
It's only a matter of time
The funeral was open casket. As the Dupain-Chengs and Marinette's friends walked up, they started breaking down. That's when a freak earthquake happened.
There was a swirl of black and red, and then it stopped. The ground stopped shaking, and the first thing people heard was a supposedly dead girl say "What happened?"
Everyone was crying and called it a "Christmas Miracle". They didn't need to know Tikki was mad and refused to sit there and let her chosen face this injustice.
She felt herself use this power several times before, but she didn't care.
So the funeral was of course, cancelled, and they all went home. Luka refused to let Marinette go as the others complained that he was hogging her.
That's when Sabrina's dad put everything into perspective.
Apparently, Alya was indeed at fault for Marinette's death. She wanted to play a prank, because she saw her constantly dozing off in class. So she broke into Marinette's room and switched the medication with her sister's stronger ones, and left.
Because Marinette had a different build and didn't need that strong of a medication, it knocked her out within a few minutes of taking it. Her heart also stopped because of a sudden advance in the dose.
Turns out, Marinette also sensed something was wrong after she took it. She tried sending texts to her friends that she was concerned and that she was going to inform her parents, but her phone died and her vision darkened before she could grab a charger.
And that's how her friends found her.
Alya was found guilty of course, and had to spend Christmas in jail being shunned by everybody there because she nearly killed off one of the brightest girls in the city. Lila was caught later and even though she had no part in this event, she was tracked down from her previous lies and faced a slightly longer sentence than her companion.
Plagg told Tikki that they had to keep the universe in balance, so that night Alya was found unresponsive and never woke up. Marinette's friends called it karma but did feel bad for her parents. It was declared that she died from a sudden heart attack, but Marinette knew there was more to it. But she wasn't going to question it.
She was just going to spend Christmas Day and New Years with her friends and family, not worrying about the past.
Will they tell your story? (Time)
Who lives, who dies, who tells your story? (Time)
Will they tell your story? (Time)
Who lives, who dies, who tells your story?
