CHRISTMAS WAS upon them. It was now Christmas Eve and Blue was so happy. After Vance had told her about his dad coming back she told him it was his decision if he really wanted to give him another chance.

Vance still wasn't sure about it and stayed over at Blues most of the time. He was spending Christmas with them since it just felt right.
No one saw a problem with it and considered him apart of the family.

Blue's family was over. That included her little cousins, her aunts and uncles, her grandparents, and of course the other four.

"Why do you have so many cousins?" Vance asked, almost disgusted as he watched them run around, screaming and shouting. "Because my aunts and uncles can't keep it in their pants." Blue stated, not being sarcastic.

Vance laughed a bit as they made it down stairs. Good thing Mason was keeping them occupied so Vance wouldn't be to annoyed.
Blue wore a red cardigan with flare jeans. During holidays, she never really dressed up unless it was Halloween. Her hair was half up half down and she wore light makeup.

"Hey Sadie." Blue smiled as she walked up to the blonde. "Hey Blue. Ooh, try my home-made apple pie!" She shouted excitedly, putting a bite onto the fork.
Blue ate it, the cinnamon apple flavor hitting her tongue. "That's really good." She mumbled before swallowing completely. Sadie smiled before returning back to cooking.

"Help!" Mason shouted, walking in with at least five kids hanging onto him. Blue laughed so loud it could probably be heard from across the street. It was the funniest sight she had ever seen.

Blue put her hands on the counter, trying to keep herself standing since she was laughing so hard. Mason stood there dumbly as the little children kept hanging onto him.
There was one on his shoulder, one on his back, two on his legs, and somehow one was clinging to his arm.

Blue had tears streaming down her face as the adults laughed at both Mason and Blue.
Sadie couldn't help but get baby fever at the sight. Her big surprise tomorrow was so hard to wait for.

Vance walked in, letting out a laugh at Mason struggling to even walk. "Vance, man, help." Mason said before letting out a yelp. A kid had bit his back.

That just caused Blue to laugh even harder. Her stomach hurt so badly and her jaw hurt from smiling so much. Vance immediately started grabbing the kids off of him.
He wanted to drop them onto the floor but he had to have Blues family like him. He wouldn't mess that up.

He carefully set them on the ground before Mason let out a sigh. Blue wiped her eyes before letting out a breath but laughing a bit. "How about we move out of the kitchen." Mandy suggested so no one would get hurt.

"Good idea." One of the kids said, grabbing Masons hand and dragging him to the living room. "Blue?" A little girl named Lizzy asked her older cousin.
"Yeah Liz?" She asked, looking down at her. "Where's Baylen?" Blues heart sank so low. Vance noticed the switch in her eyes.

She immediately tried to look happier for Lizzys sake. "Well if I told you, you wouldn't understand." Blue smiled, picking her up. "No, tell me." Lizzy pleaded, putting her small head on Blues shoulder.

Blue sighed, looking at Vance. "Baylen isn't with us anymore, Liz. He's in here." She said, pointing to her heart. Lizzy didn't get it. "Baylens in my heart?!" She asked worriedly.
Blue laughed a bit. "Yes Lizzy." The little girl gasped. Vance put a hand over his mouth so she didn't see him smiling.

"Vance!" The little girl shouted, looking at him. "Baylens in my heart!" She shouted happily. "Dam- dang right he is." Vance quickly changed his words, realizing he was talking to five year old.

"Mommy!" Lizzy shouted as Blue put her down. The little girl ran to go tell her mom. Blue laughed sadly, watching her.
The girl turned to Vance. "You need to watch your mouth." She told him with a smile. "It slipped out!" He defended himself but Blue just let out a small laugh.

"I'm kidding." She said, wrapping her arms around him. He kissed the top of her head, returning the hug. Blue sighed when she saw one of her aunts come over with the camera. Blue had a total of three aunts. Two of them were her mom's sisters. The other one was her uncle's wife.

Colby did invite his sister. At this point, Blue considered her as her step-aunt. So technically she had four.

"Photo?" She grinned. "Sure." The two smiled, still hugging. Once it was over, her aunt went to rant to Mandy about how cute they were.
"We're famous." Vance joked. "You wish."

Dinner was finally served. The family sat down at the dining table, digging into their food while sharing small talk. Blue was sat in the middle of Vance and another one of her little cousins.

Christmas Eve dinner didn't feel the same without Baylen. It felt weird. Not to mention the new house. Blue hated that she'd have to get used to it.
Vance nudged her leg under the table. She looked at him. "You okay?" He asked, biting into his bread roll. "Yeah." She nodded, looking back at her food.

Vance knew she was lying but let it go for later. "Blue help me." Elliot whined from the other side of her. She looked over, watching him struggle to grab his sippy cup.
She reached over, handing it to the little boy. "So Blue, I heard about what happened." One of her uncles spoke up.

"What part? A lot happened." She answered, eating her mashed potatoes. Mandy looked at the two, not knowing if Blue was feeling uncomfortable with this.
"How about the part where you got shot." He suggested, wanting to hear the story.

"Oh." She said, looking at her family. They were all looking at her as they ate. Vance grabbed her hand, resting it on his thigh, giving it a few squeezes. "What do you want to know about it?"

"How bad did it hurt?" His wife asked, her aunt Laura. "Oh man, I can't explain it. The feeling of your skin being ripped apart is not exactly a great feeling." She said, thinking back to when it happened.

Both Sadie and Mason realized how tense she was. "Ew." Some of the little ones said, making grossed out faces. "Where did you get shot?" He uncle Randy asked again.
"Below my abdomen and my shoulder." She answered. Some of the adults starting talking about it, making Blue feel small.

"Can you show us the scars?" One of her cousins asked. He was the oldest besides her. His name was Ruben and was 11 years old. "Um... not right now." Blue wanted to say not now and not ever.

His mom smacked his arm. "Ruben." She warned. "Sorry! I'm just curious." "Laura, it's fine." Blue smiled. It wasn't fine. The girl was still very insecure about the scars.
Not to mention the fact she never wanted to talk about the whole incident ever again.

"Who saved you?" "How quick did you heal?" "Were you scared?" Questions were being thrown left and right and she didn't know what to answer. "Hey, can we all let her breath?" Mandy chimed in.

"Mason saved me." Blue answered with a nod. Everyone looked at him. "Is it true?" He nodded with a proud smile. "Vance, how was it for you?" The boy didn't know what to say. Even though he wasn't the one to get shot, it was still a terrifying experience for him.

'Aren't they nosy.' He thought. "Horrifying." He replied, not wanting to relive that moment. Blue sank in her seat, trying to eat her food without thinking about the traumatic event.
Suddenly, she wasn't hungry anymore. She remembered all the blood and how her body felt like it was going to die any minute. The tremendous amount of pain she had felt and the fear of never opening her eyes again.

Colby and Mandy noticed this. "Ooh, what about the fire?" Ruben asked, eager to hear this. Another really harsh memory. "All I can say is it felt like our lungs were on fire." "Didn't you hold a gun on someone?" Karen asked.

Blue heard everyone throwing questions at her and she couldn't do it anymore. The girl stood up, placing her napkin on the table. "I'm going to use the restroom." She gave a sarcastic smile before hurrying off.
Vance looked down, not knowing if he should follow her or not. He was about to stand up before Colby placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'll go talk to her."

The man got up, going to the bathroom Blue was in. The girl stood in front of the mirror, taking deep breaths so she didn't break out into tears.
She jumped at the small knock. "It's Colby." She sighed, unlocking the door. "You good?" He asked although he already knew that answer.

Blue shook her head. Colby wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a hug. She immediately returned it, really trying to hold back tears now.

"Why're they so nosy?" Blue asked, her voice cracking. "I wish I knew that answer." He replied. The two stood there for a few minutes before returning to the table.

"Blue, sweetheart, would you want to help me serve dessert?" Her grandma asked, standing up to go get the pies. "Sure." She smiled, going to help.
The two grabbed plates, putting a slice on each. It was only the two of them in the kitchen which was peaceful.

"You know duckie, I'm really sorry for everyone interrogating you." Carla said, using the old nickname from back when Blue was just a little girl.
"It's okay grandma." "No it's not. Is there anything I can do?" Blue shook her head. "I'll be okay." Carla hugged her grand daughter and Blue returned it.

"I love you, my little duckie." Carla kissed her cheek before pulling away and going to give everyone their desserts.

Blue smiled, following her with her plates. Finally, everyone was having their own conversations. Vance put his arm on the back of Blues chair, leaning back.

He leaned over to her ear. "You okay now?" He whispered. She nodded. Blue turned to look at him, their faces only inches apart.
"Thank you for asking." She smiled. "Of course." She pecked his lips before hearing the little kids say 'ew.' They both laughed.

Once dinner was over completely, everyone went to the living room, spending time together. "Can you show us now?" Ruben begged, wanting to see the scars for some reason.

Blue felt peer pressured and gave in.

"Fine. There's the shoulder one." She said, pulling down the sleeve of her cardigan. The whole family got a good look at it. Some gasped and some just stared.
"And the other one." She lifted her cardigan just bit, folding the top of her pants down. "Wow." Most of them said, for some reason finding this entertaining.

She folded the top back up, dropping her cardigan. "But yeah, those are my battle scars." The girl said, sitting next to Vance on the couch.
Unfortunately, her sleeve rolled up a bit. "Where did you get those?" Ruben asked again.

Blue immediately pulled her sleeve back down. "Sometimes it's better to just keep wondering." She answered. The night was finally peaceful when everyone left.

"Oh my lord that was exhausting." Sadie complained after doing all the dishes. "Tell me about it." Mandy replied, throwing herself onto the couch.

"I'm going to bed. Night." Blue yawned, standing up. She grabbed Vance's hand as they walked upstairs.

"Merry Christmas Eve." Blue smiled as they laid down. He said the same thing before they were knocked out cold.
