Pigs could fly, hell experienced its first snowfall, and Evan's parents let him go to the party. Only one of those was true. Apparently, Evan could play the dutiful son so well that his parents actually believed it.

Right now, he was at Lola's house, since she lived closest to the Depot and also had a special guest at her house for the weekend.

"I wonder whose phone will ring more during the night," Evan chuckled as Rory handed him the charger. They still had plenty of time before they had to leave for the party, so they were filling it with preparations. One of them was charging their phones.

"I was going to say mine, but your folks are inscrutable," he immediately replied. Even though they hadn't seen each other for a long time, some things simply didn't change.

"Trust me, you don't even know half of it." Despite his words, Evan was not in a good mood. He never thought he would be able to spend the night in Marwell, but now he was here, and he couldn't be happier. Plus, he still hadn't decided where exactly he would sleep, although he always had a place at Lola's.

Rory's phone buzzed with an incoming message. They both looked at it with amused expressions. Apparently, it was Rory's parents who started the phone bombing this early. At least that's what Evan thought until he saw Rory's expression when he picked up the phone. Brunet stared at the display, and it was easy to tell from his look that it wasn't his parents who were texting him. Also, the blush on his face hinted at that, too.

"Is little Rory in love?" Of course, Evan couldn't pass up the chance to pry. When he was Rory's age, everyone asked him about Kieran all the time, and now he had the opportunity to do the same. His friend, however, seemed not to hear his words, still looking at his phone.

"Are you guys having fun?" It was at that moment that the householder chose to return to the living room. Her pink hair was tied on top of her head in curlers, and she wore a cropped shirt. She looked like the stereotypical teen movie mom trying to keep up with her teenage popular daughter.

"Don't know what you're laughing at." she reacted the moment Evan burst into laughter. The sound finally made Rory snap out of his little moment.

"Why do you look like Regina George's mom?"

Evan laughed even more and Lola, though she tried to look offended for a moment, immediately joined him. The three of them were panting from lack of air and one look at the red face of one of them was enough to make them laugh again. Luckily for them, Angie decided to break that cycle.

"Do I wanna know why it sounds like a zoo with sea lions in here?"

Lola was the first to come to her senses to answer her. "They decided to bully me."

Although her answer was absurd, Angie just shook her head and sat down on the couch with them. Lola, who had fallen to the ground laughing, also stood up and sat next to her best friend.

"It's so weird that everyone's in such a good mood," Angie commented. Evan knew that her remark was directed at him in particular but he decided not to deal with it.

"That's because there are no rules in this house. I'm not like a regular mom, I'm a cool mom," the pink-haired girl quoted, receiving a loud cackle from everyone else in response.

"Okay, back on topic," Evan said turning to Rory, "who's the secret crush?" The addressed boy looked at him like he was a fool as if he hadn't seen him blushing over the phone before.

"There's no way. Who haven't you told us about?" The girls immediately focused on the subject as well and all three surrounded the boy waiting for a response.

"About no one, since I have no secret crush," he immediately denied it, but even though they hadn't seen each other for a long time, his friends knew right away that it wasn't entirely true.

"Oh, please. We went through this with Evan and Kieran, do you really think we won't recognize it?" Angie didn't give him the slightest chance to think they believed him. Evan wanted to pitch in that they weren't that obvious, but he knew that wasn't true. He and Kieran flirted with each other in plain sight from the very beginning. He was surprised that everyone at school didn't put two and two together. Although, they weren't that interesting to be noticed by everyone.

"Seriously, there's no one," Rory tried to interject again, though both girls were looking at him knowingly. He humphed as their attention still lingered on him, his eyes searching for the only other boy in the room.

"Don't look at me. Like they said, I had to go through it too." Evan shrugged, to which Rory responded with an eye roll. He was obviously expecting more support.

"Can you at least give us a name?" Lola tried. She and Angie were just putting on their best puppy dog eyes, looking eagerly at Rory. Of course, they broke him in the end, and he told them what they wanted to hear.

"Alex," he drawled through gritted teeth. There was a sudden silence in the room as the three of them began to think hard, upon hearing the gender-neutral name. Rory's secret crush could literally be anyone.

"Alex as in?" Evan decided to be the one to say it out loud. In theory, it was still the same question that Rory allowed, meaning he wasn't doing anything over the line.

The brown-haired boy sighed loudly, leaned his head back against the couch, and closed his eyes. Evan thought he'd had enough and decided to ignore his question, but eventually, the answer slipped out of him. "Alexander."

The girls let out a loud squeal, and Evan's eyes automatically did a 360. He never understood girls' obsession with gay couples but so be it. It was better than his friends being homophobic.

"Kill me please." Rory gave him a pleading sideways glance, and Evan returned it this time. He sympathized with him, knowing that the girls would not give him a break with this. Plus, as he knew them, it would hardly take them a few minutes if they decided to find him on social media. Teenage girls really were better than the FBI.

"Oh, come on, we're just happy for you," Lola protested, and Angie immediately nodded in agreement. Both were oozing over-the-top enthusiasm.

"In a creepy way," Evan immediately added, earning a slap on the shoulder from both of them.

"Shut up. Without us you would never get off with Kieran," Angie couldn't miss the chance to comment.

"That's not true," he immediately countered. Angie's eyes seared him, burning an imaginary hole in his head where the given memory of her help was hiding. He admitted that she gave him the courage, but he was the one who had volunteered to talk to Kieran from the start. And so he was going to stand by his words.

"You were panicking for real," she deadpanned.

"I was not," he responded right away.

"Right." Her short laugh was ironic, and it earned her a nasty look from Evan.

"Can we refocus on Rory?" Lola intervened in their little argument, and this time it was she who someone tried to burn with a look. That someone was Rory, who didn't like changing the subject back to him.

"Can we not?" he replied to her with a question.

"Or we can talk about you and Aaron?" Evan suggested, knowing the girls would catch on right away. Of course, as soon as he said his name, both of his friends let out a loud squeal. Even if he wanted to, he couldn't be bothered because he hadn't seen Lola this happy in a long time. She's always been a bundle of joy, but ever since this Aaron came into her life, she's literally been glowing. Evan just hoped the boy was decent and didn't plan to hurt her.

...

It was finally party time (or rather it was an hour ago, but they decided to arrive fashionably late), and Evan was beyond excited. Everyone was wearing their best outfits, and he was finally wearing something other than his usual black hoodie. His jeans were slightly tighter than usual, ripped at the knees, and had a chain hanging from his waist. Of course, they were black. He couldn't step completely out of his comfort zone.

Instead of his usual t-shirt, he was wearing a black shirt with vertical white stripes, leaving most of the buttons undone at the girls' advice. He had it tucked into his pants, so it accentuated his lean figure, and he also added a plain black belt with a silver buckle. Silver was the colour of all his accessories, as after persuasion from the girls, he also wore a narrow silver chain around his neck and simple rings on his fingers.

And of course, before they left the house, Angie managed to quickly paint his nails black.

He almost didn't recognize himself when he looked in the mirror, but on the other side, he finally felt like himself. It finally looked like he was trying and not just surviving his life. Perhaps because of this thought, a faint smile played on his lips that he couldn't shake.

"I'm so ready to get hammered," Lola laughed and hopped forward a few steps.

"Find Aaron first," Angie advised her immediately, hanging on to her arm and lining up at her side.

They were walking together to the Depot where they were supposed to meet Aiden, Josh, Kieran, Millie, and possibly Clara. No one knew if she would show up since none of them had really seen her since they found out that she had finally dumped Jacob. Everyone assumed she was faking being sick so she wouldn't have to meet him at school, but Jacob surprisingly didn't show up half the time either. It was only thanks to Millie that they knew it wasn't related and that she didn't give him another chance.

"What about you guys? Are you ready to remember nothing after tonight?" Lola turned and continued walking backward. Luckily, Angie stayed focused on the sidewalk in front of them and held her so she wouldn't get hurt.

"I don't know if it's a good idea for us all to get wasted," Rory reasoned and at that moment no one would believe that he was the youngest of them.

"Not sure if I wanna make good decisions today," Evan was the first to answer him and with his answer, he earned enthusiastic shouts from the girls who more than agreed with him. He was finally free, if only for one night, and he planned to make the most of it. Even if it meant he wasn't supposed to remember.

After tripping over practically nothing for the second time, Lola spun back forward and added speed. Of course, her best friend didn't hesitate and immediately joined her, leaving both boys behind. Evan and Rory turned to each other and simultaneously shrugged their shoulders. They both kinda knew where to go and so had no real reason to run after them. They knew how to take care of themselves and in case of an accident, they had a phone with them. Plus, Evan knew Angie had another advantage over anyone who decided to stop them.

"Do you really want to get drunk today?" Rory broke the silence.

"Don't know," he answered truthfully. On the one hand, he wanted to fully enjoy his first party, but on the other hand, he didn't have much experience with alcohol and didn't want to spend the whole night over the toilet bowl.

"You don't have to drink if you don't want to," he added after wondering why Rory had even asked him.

"I just don't think it's a good idea for us all to be out of our senses." He shrugged. Evan gave him a look, but Rory didn't notice him, staring ahead. He looked quite stiff as if he wasn't even going to have fun, and Evan wondered if it wouldn't be better to turn around and go home after all. Not that they had that option since only Lola had the keys to the house.

"If anything, we can always ask Lola for the keys and go home early," he tried to reassure him, though he wasn't sure exactly what was bothering him. Rory was quite quiet today and often lost in his own thoughts. Evan didn't like it, but he wasn't going to say it out loud. He was excited that Rory was even here to spend time with them live and he didn't want to ruin it. If Rory wanted to talk about it, he would have said something by now.

"Maybe," Rory muttered, lost in his own thoughts again.

Evan decided to stop talking and let the silence of the night consume them. They were only a few meters away and they were there, so at least they could prepare their eardrums for all the loud music. Evan had never been to a party, or at least not one that wasn't organized by wolves, so he had no idea how his wolf would react to all the loud music. He had no problem controlling him, so he was not afraid that he might be aggressive. Rather, he assumed that his head would hurt for a long time after this night and that he might be overstimulated. Either way, it was worth it.
