"That's means, HOLD ON!"

Hugging the pole as close to your as possible, your ears flattened at your felt the wind of the jet as it whizzed passed. The plane spun on its side, dodging the mini jet at it attempted to strike from behind. Your feet slid against the metal surface causing your fur to stand on end. Feet scrambling in panic to stay afoot, you desperately held to the pole.

Heart racing, your gravity spun as the plane dived down. The engine roared in your ears, eyes filling with tears at the sharp breeze scratched your eyes. Jet spinning and flying at you like an arrow, tails pulled on his controls, suddenly lifting the plane up to avoid the jet. Knees bending under the pressure, your stomach dropped to your feet. Your face was green, everything feeling queasy and upside-down.

Groaning at the gross feeling, your hands slowly lost their grip on your only support.

That was a major regret.

The plane was thrusted into a sharp angle, flying straight up while spinning. Feet flying from under you, your hands grappled onto the pole. Closing your eyes, you let out a scream as the world spun. You could hear the jet zoom around, missing the plane by milometers.

With a backwards loop, your gravity finally returned. Landing harshly on your chest, you let out a pained huff. Squinting open your eyes, you watched the jet circle you and Tails.

"I can't lose it," Tails cried out, head following the jet in its ominous circle. It was like a vulture, waiting. Waiting for its chance to pierce its beak and claws into the flesh of its food. Facing Tails, you both stared at each other. For the first time his eyes were uncertain.

He was scared.

Worried.

CRASH!

The world froze.

Shards of metal flying passed your eyes, widening in realization. Gritting your teeth, you felt the metal wing from below you break apart. The metal pole you held so desperately onto flung from your grasp. As the metal of the wing fell under you, gravity began pulling you down too. Clawing at the air, you tried to grab onto the bottom of the plane but failed.

Your fur and tail rushed upwards, the opposite direction of how your fell. Your (E/C) eyes stared up at the plane that continued to fly wonkily on. You were screaming but heard nothing. The wind cogged your ears. Heart second away from imploding, you watch the plane move further and further away from you.

Curling up in a ball, you held yourself close. You couldn't think. No thoughts came. It was blank. Everything felt blank as you felt.

It was numbing.

"(Y/N)!"

Lifting your head up, your heart re-sparked. Tails was mere meters away from you, hands extended. His eyes shone with a resolution to save you. Stretching up to the fox, he pulled you closer to him. His arms wrapped around your cold body.

They wanted to protect you.

Your head rested on his shoulder, watching his beloved plane get destroyed by the jet. The explosion was bright and orange, blinding you. The loud boom and the rushing wind of the explosion hitting the both of you seconds after the collisions. Once the strong breeze dissipated, Tails opened his twin tails in opposite directions and began spinning them rapidly. Blurring together, they slowly stopped the falling of you and Tails, leaving you both in a comforting hover.

Glancing down you could see the greedy ocean waves crash into each other, angry at the loss of its meal. Ears perking up, you could hear the waves grumble.

"Told you I would catch you," Tails lightheartedly chuckled, exhausted. You could feel his chest rumble with his laughs. It made you smile with a blush, knowing that he did catch you as he promised. As he began to carry you both to safety you noticed a piece of debris falling towards you both, aiming directly for Tails.

"Tails! Behind you!" You yelled, alarmed.

But it was too late.

By the time you managed to finish your sentence, the debris collided with the foxes head. The long piece of metal wrapped around his tails, resulting in you both falling. His eyes began to close, droplets of blood drizzling down his head. His arms fell limp, unintentionally letting you go.

Freezing water rushed around you, digging its icy claws into your skin. Fur dragging you down, you managed to swim to the surface of the ocean. Gasping for air, water splashed into your face, trying to drown your lungs in its salty water. Despite the sun having risen and shining its bright light down onto the earth, the sky appeared dark with impending doom.

Coughing, your head searches, gravely searching for the twin tailed fox. When he didn't appear, you took one last gulp of sour air before diving under the waves. It was pitch black. Your eyes stung as they explored under the sea for the yellow and orange fox. Your heart began to hurt, lungs scorching aflame while your eyes began to tear up.

You couldn't see him.

You gasped in a needing breath of oxygen.

He wasn't anywhere.

Another gulp of air.

You stared hopelessly into the abyss.

He saved you but you failed him.

Effortlessly you floated on the surface, starring into the darkness of the ocean. Your ears flattened, your eyes crying unseen tears. Your arms hung in front of your face, your tail flowing with the current.

And that's when you saw him.

His yellow fur glowing through the blue darkness. he was sinking, unconscious. Trickles of blood floated from his head, his eyes shut tight. Raking at the water, you dragged yourself towards him. You didn't bother to take another breath, afraid that if you did you would lose him.

Legs kicking franticly, arms dragging water passed you, you drew closer to the fox. Outstretching your hand, you grabbed his wrist. You attempted to pull him to the surface but failed. Growling at yourself, you swam towards his twisted tails. Grabbing onto them, you began to franticly untwine them from the chunk of metal. Your vision began to back out from the lack of air, but you shook it off, focusing on freeing Tails's tails.

Ripping his tails free, you hooked your arms underneath his. With strong kicks, you tugged his limp body towards the surface. Hailing his head above the water, he took in a struggled breath. He coughed, the raging waved not helping him to breathe. Swimming next to him, you kept his head above the water as you slowly made your way to shore. The beach a shining beacon in the awful ocean.

Tails's eyes opened slightly, unable to comprehend anything happening around him. Keeping a firm grip on Tails, you swam to the shore, drinking gallons of sea water.

It felt like years passed by the time you could place your feet on the uneven sand that hid under the water. Taking shaky steps, you hauled yourself and Tails onto the dry sand of the shore. The second you felt dry sand on your tail, you gently placed Tails down before collapsing next to him. Your chest raised rapidly as your lungs attempted to hack up all the sea water you inhaled. Your eyes rested halfway, wanting to close and do nothing more than sleep.

The dry sand stuck to your wet fur, finding its way through your fur. You hated the feeling but were too tired to do anything about it. Glancing down to check up on Tails, you watched him cough up water, arms shakily holding him up. His jacket collected buckets worth of sand, its leather appearing darker due to the water.

Plopping his head onto the sand, he tiredly looked up to you.

"I don't know about you, but I'm all adventured out for today," you halved chuckled half coughed. Giving him a small smile, he returned the gesture. Dragging up next to you, he rolled onto his back. His chest was covered in sand.

"Agreed," he sighed. He winced as he spoke, his head aching with a powerful pain causing him to sit up. Scratching the back of his head he saw blood on his glove. Scrunching his nose in annoyance, he proceeded to investigate his tails, noticing the missing patches of fur. Small freckles of blood began to appear on the furless patches.

"Sorry about that," you mention, sitting up. His ear twitched as you apologised. Lifting his head towards you, his mouth was agape in confusion. Pulling his tails from his hands, they sat behind him, covering themselves in sand.

"Are you kidding? If you weren't there I would have been fish food!" He exclaimed.

"Yeah, But I ripped half your tail fur off!"

"You saved my life! And... I thank you for that," he smiled at you, eyes shining with admiration. Returning his smile, you both sat in silence for a few moments, catching your breath. As a gentle wind blew past, you shivered. With an exhausted puff, Tails got to his feet. Holding his hands out for you, he helped you onto yours. "Let's get back to mine. My adventured out butt wants a hot shower, a cup of coffee, and to rebuild my plane... again." Tails's planned, his ears flattening as having to rebuild his plane.

Giggling, you both begin the long walk back, occasionally leaning on each other for support. With your tail wagging alongside his, you smiled.

"Maybe fourth times the charm," you joked, altering his own words and using it against him.

"Shut up," he replied, rolling his eyes with a dramatic exhale.
