Listen to: I Don't Wanna Live Forever - ZAYN and Taylor Swift

In which you're put together for another mission (1)

You and Jenna worked for two different agencies, you two always found each other at different missions, with the same goal. You were the top of your agency, you were respected and a force to be reckoned with. You were funny, charming, and confident. Jenna was calculated, smooth, and intoxicating. When the two of you, begrudgingly, work together, you make it work better than anyone can expect. Both agencies needed to work together, to merge, but it wouldn't work if their top agents refuse to get along.

She didn't like how you could be immature and a jokester at the worst times. You didn't like how she was serious and uptight. Sure, she was undeniably beautiful, her voice smooth like satin, but it annoyed you when she'd scold you for doing something that was potentially risky.

Over the missions that you've done with her, you've noticed how she hated putting her hair up, but it wasn't like her hair was always messy and unkempt, nor was it slicked and strict, it was just down, it was so natural on her. You never usually made her laugh, but when you did it was alluring, it made you laugh as well, you don't know how she always manages to make you laugh, but she just does. You would notice when she smiled, even when it was just a quirk in the lips. You enjoyed seeing her smile, seeing her dimples show, it gave you one of the greatest feelings that you can't compare to anything else.

But you shut down any sort of feelings that could arise. You two can't be together, you were from different agencies.

Yet here you are, sitting across from your boss, who just told you that you were going on another mission with Jenna. "Sorry, what?"

"You're completing this mission with Agent Ortega." He repeated, confused because he knew you heard.

"I heard that, but why?" You were slouched in the seat, your legs comfortably apart, your arms crossed. They had been pairing you up with Jenna quite often now, and it was setting you off, why would two rival agencies put two of their best together. "They're a completely different place."

He sighed in frustration and pinched the bridge of his nose, you still weren't getting it. "For being the top agent here, you really are stupid." You feigned offense as you pulled your arms closer to you. "Just get on with it, please, y/n."  He slid the file towards you, looking at you with hope.

You clicked your tongue, getting up. "Fine." You mumbled as you picked up the file and went to head out.

"And please wear something more appropriate." He called out, causing you to look down at your clothes. You were wearing a band t-shirt and a corduroy jacket. You looked at him over your shoulder. "Maybe not a band that has a naked baby as the album cover." You giggled, nodding as you headed towards the garage.

You kept your head in the file, reading over everything. It felt weird, fake? You adjusted your headphones, the music slightly distracting you from the words. You knocked your shoulder against someone else. "I'm so sorry." You apologized, but they weren't there when you turned, you felt around, seeing if something was missing, but everything was fine. You looked around once again, shrugging it off and getting into your car.

You were drinking with a few of your friends from the agency, it was Florence's birthday, you all decided to celebrate. You raised your drinks as you all cheered. "Happy birthday!" You threw your head back as you felt the liquid burn down the back of your throat. You made a small face before grabbing your other cup and downing more liquid.

"Any new missions for you, y/n?" Florence's sister, Raffie, asked, directing the conversation to you. You grimaced, drinking your chaser. They all laughed, knowing what you're talking about. "You have to work with Jenna again?"

You nodded, pouring yourself another shot. "Don't get why, but I can do that mission perfectly on my own."

"Is working with Jenna really that bad?" Florence piped in, taking the bottle from you. "I worked with her, she's really nice." You scoffed.

"Ohh right, we did that sting operation with her!"  Timothee hollered, his smiled plastered on his face. "She was really nice, she got me that girls number." You scoffed, bringing your cup to your lips. "What? y/n, tell us about your terrible moments with her."

You rolled your eyes. "I guess she just hates me," You shrugged, drinking more. "She always calls me childish and stupid."

"I'm pretty sure those weren't the words she used to us." Your head drunkenly snapped towards Zendaya, who just innocently shrugged as she sipped her drink. "I think she actually likes you. Maybe you two can have that little rivals to lovers thing." She teased, poking you. You rolled your eyes, shaking her off.

"Nah, I don't think so. She's real cool and stuff, but I'm not worth that." You cleared your throat, feeling the tables attention on you. "Okay, stop looking at me, let's just drink again." You grabbed your shot glass, raising it up. They all followed, but slowly, as if they were being cautious. You took the shot, feeling yourself slip away slowly.

"Tell us more about that mission!"  You raised your hands, shaking your head.

"No! Flo, it's your birthday, it's about you!" You protested, trying to divert the attention from you.

"And I want to know what's going on." She smirked. "Come on, it's the best thing to go around the agency, we're all dying to know."

You rolled your eyes, giving into their antics. "Fine. It's really not much, there's this guy, he's wanted for arson, kidnapping, all the shit. They want him in 'cause he's got some top secret info. So, they got me and her running around chasing him."

"Do you never look more into the cases?" Raffie questioned, making you shrug. "Oh come on! You're the nosiest person I know. The fact that you haven't looked into it is weird."

You nodded slowly, a pursed smile on your lips. "I did look into it. Nothing, nada, couldn't find anything." You gave them a knowing look as their jaws slacked. "So, what I'm gonna do, is ask Jenna. At the house."

"You're going to stay in a house with her?" They all yelled, some hitting their hands on the table.

"We're tracking him down, they say they've got a location, so we're staying at a house pretty damn close to him. Should take a few days." You motioned for them to lean closer. "Look, I'm gonna be honest, this whole operation seems a little weird. I got this off feeling when I was reading the file."

"Wait, are you going undercover?" Timothee perked up, seeing you nod.

_____

"I'm gonna need your keys." Jenna held out her hand. The two of you were in your office, you were discussing details before the two of you headed towards the place. You were leaning on your desk, looking at her confused. "To your car? I got dropped off."

"Okay first, why would I let you drive my car? I made a lot of changes to it, it's not easy to adapt to if you aren't me." You explained, your arms crossed, not budging.

"Shouldn't be that difficult, knowing you." She teased, making you huff and shake your head. "What's second?"

Your lips formed into a thin line. "I didn't bring my car today."

"What?" She was certainly not happy. "How did you get here?"

You shrugged, a small smirk playing on your lips. "My motorcycle." You giggled as you listened to Jenna's protests.

"We are not taking your fucking motorcycle, that shit is a death trap." She was glaring at you, but you knew you didn't need to take it to heart.

"It's either you ride with me, princess, or you find your own fuckin' way." You pulled out your keys, grabbing your bag and slung it on your shoulder. "Love ya, see you at the house!" You jokingly called out, heading down. She had no other option than to follow you.

"Y/n, is that the only ride you have left." She asked you, finally catching up to you. You just glanced at her, nodding. "Dude, we have so much stuff to bring." The two of you entered an elevator, which gave you time to look at her with so much confusion. "I feel like that's the only face you can make."

"I'll just have them send it over, plus we don't technically start until friday, so relax." You refused to make eye contact with her. How the hell were you going to make it through without doing something to her. You knew your friends had bets on what would happen by the end, either someone dies or someone gets fucked. A question that you've been wanting an answer for popped into your head. "Do you know why we keep getting paired? We don't work in the same place, so why constantly pair us up?"

Jenna gave you a look, as if she didn't notice. "I don't know, I just get the cases done." The elevator dinged, signaling that the two of you were able to get to your motorcycle. You just nodded, walking with her. Once you got to the bike, there was only one helmet, you internally cursed for not asking.

You grabbed the helmet off the bike and held it out for Jenna to wear. She stared at your hand as if it was foreign. "Jenna, you need wear this."

"You're the one who's driving." She retorted, making you roll your eyes.

"Have you ridden with me?" You were quick. You weren't going to risk Jenna getting hurt if it was her first time riding with you.

"No." You gave her a look, putting the helmet into her hands and getting on the bike.

Once she had the helmet on and was seated behind you, you revved the engine. "Ready?" You felt the helmet nod against your back. "Hold tight."

Right before you go, she stopped you. "Wait!" You put your foot back down. "Are we riding a motorcycle the whole way?" You shrugged, going off without warning her. A lot of the ride was her yelling at you to slow down.

You found the diner that your boss told you to meet him at, he had a car for you. You pulled into the parking lot, feeling Jenna's hands go lower on your abdomen. "Jenna, what are you doing?" You felt her grab the gun that was in your waist band.

"Why the fuck do you have your gun?" She pulled it out, getting off the motorcycle to look at you. She removed the helmet and looked pissed.

"We're spies, Jenna." You hushed out, grabbing the gun from her hand as you got off as well. "I don't know when I'm gonna need it, but I know I will." You put it back in your waistband, covering it with your shirt and hoodie. "Now, let's go." She just huffed, shoving the helmet into your hands and walking off towards the entrance. You rolled your eyes, holding the helmet under one arm as you chased after her.

Once you caught up to her, you made eye contact with your boss, nodding at him. You grabbed Jenna's wrist, taking her with you to sit with him. Once you sat down beside Jenna, you slid the helmet and your keys to your boss. "I ordered for all of us already, if you two don't mind."

"y/n, what is going on?" Jenna asked as the lady put down a few plates. You thanked her with a small smile.

"Did you think we were going to ride a motorcycle the whole time?" You asked, shoving some food into your mouth.

"It seemed like it." You chuckled, your mouth still filled with food.

"We have clothes for the two of you there, with all the information and everything you could possibly need." He slid a file towards the two of you. "Your aliases, ladies."

You looked over her shoulder as she opened it. "Married couple?" You read out, biting your lip and trying not to laugh. "Seriously?"

He shrugged. "Wasn't my decision." You shook your head in amusement.

"I thought this would take only a few days?" Jenna asked, her eyes still on the file.

"Well, you can get it done in a few days, but we're giving you two a few months, just in case." He reached into his pocket, pulling out car keys. "Here are the keys to the car and house, there's two copies just in case. Have fun ladies." He winked before sliding out of the booth and out of the restaurant.

She looked at you, wanting to leave. You nodded, leaving a bill on the tabled and grabbing the keys. She trailed behind you as you looked around for a car. It wasn't luxurious, but it was pretty nice. You noticed how your phone connected, you handed it to Jenna. "Play something."

You pulled out of the parking lot, bopping along to the music that she played from your phone. The car ride was easy going, the two of you didn't talk much, but it was comfortable. The music eased any tension between you two.

Looking over beside you, you noticed that Jenna fell asleep. You grabbed the jacket you brought, placing it over her to the best of your ability. You leaned into your seat, your head hitting the head rest, you let out a quiet sigh. You put your elbow right next to the window, rubbing your eyes. You were exhausted.

You managed to find the house that you were going to stay at. You pulled into the driveway, pressing the garage opener that came with the car. The house was beautiful, it was finished and had two floors. You tapped Jenna. "We're here."

She grumbled something, making you chuckle. You got out of the car, leaving her inside, still half asleep. You entered, exploring around the house. It was clean, nice. You heard steps, which caught you off guard. You pulled out the gun from your waistband, holding it out as you went around. You turned the corner, pointing your gun at the intruder. When you realized that it was Jenna, you huffed and put down the gun.

"Warn someone, Jesus." You muttered, putting the gun back to your waistband.

"Who else would be here?" Jenna asked, watching you as you stepped into the conversation pit and turned on the television. "Plus, your gun isn't even loaded." She followed you, sitting a few seats away from you.

You let out a breathy laugh. "Yes it is." You turned on Netflix, finding a show to watch.

"Y/n, I thought you promised that it wouldn't be loaded." You felt her eyes on you, there was a feeling that arose in your stomach from her gaze.

"Only for this mission." Suddenly, you weren't in the mood for watching TV. You got up, wanting to go find the armory. You saw a bunch of photos, it was either real photos of you and Jenna, or photoshopped ones. Either way, it really did look like the two of you were married, it scared you.

Eventually, you did find it, after playing around with some books, there was a doorway that opened, leading to a room with any computers and rows and rows of guns. You were toying around with the guns, loading and unloading them. You heard someone enter, you didn't turn to face them, you just kept your eyes on the guns.

"I don't wanna talk about it." You mumbled, feeling her presence behind you.

"Did that night mean something to you?" Jenna asked. Your stomach churned.
