Y/N waltzed around her home as she decorated, while singing the lyrics to different Christmas songs. It was still November but that didn't matter to the festive girl.

She had always loved Christmas. Ever since she was a little girl and she would eagerly wait in the hallway for Santa to come tumbling out of her chimney. Constantly hoping to catch a glimpse of a red suit or a reindeer.

She no longer believed in the myth of Santa Claus, but that didn't take away the magic of Christmas for her, unlike most adults. She had other things to look forward to now. Like, drinking yummy peppermint coffee with too much sugar. Buying or making gifts for her family and friends. Watching classic Christmas movies, while cuddled up on her couch with a fuzzy blanket. And, of course, seeing her family.

None of her family members lived in the same town as her. So, they only ever got to see each other on holidays. And, it was only certain holidays. Like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Y/N had just spent a Halloween by herself because her friends were all out of town to see their families. So, it was an understatement to say that Y/N was excited for the next three holidays to come.

Y/N's thoughts were interrupted by a cheerful holiday ring tone coming from her phone. She placed the piece of mistletoe she was holding onto the counter and picked her phone up off the couch.

Mama <3

Y/N smiled when she saw the contact name. She put the phone to her ear after answering it and was immediately met with what sounded like arguing.

"I told you to bring the extra blankets!" Y/N's Mom, Tiana, said.

"I thought I did," Henry, Y/N's dad, snapped back. "I must've forgotten"

"Forgotten?" Tiana asked. "That's not enough! How do you think your grandkids will feel when they're freezing at night? You think they'll be just fine because you "forgot"? You think that forgetting makes everything all right?"

"I'm sure Y/N has plenty of blankets at her home," Henry stated. "Besides, if our kids were smart they would've packed their own blankets for their own kids. There's no need for us to pack extra."

"You-"

"Mom?" Y/N piped up.

"Oh, Y/N!" Tiana beamed, her voice changing from frustration to adoration in a heartbeat. "How have you been, honey?"

"Um, good!" Y/N answered. "I'm putting up Christmas decorations, right now."

"Christmas decorations?" Tiana asked. "Honey, it isn't even Thanksgiving, yet."

"I know," Y/N nodded. "I just like Christmas."

"You always have," Tiana chuckled. "Well, we're on our way. We've been driving for a few hours now. So, we should be there by tomorrow."

"That's great!" Y/N exclaimed. "How long are you guys staying?"

"We're going to be leaving a week after New Years," Tiana answered.

"Yup! You're stuck with us!" Henry shouted into the phone.

Y/N giggled at the familiar sound of her dad's voice. "So, who's all coming? Is it just you guys?"

"Well, it's actually the whole family," Tiana said. "It's going to be me, your father, Aunt Raven, Uncle JB, and their kids, Aunt Jenny, Uncle Ace, and their kids, all four of your siblings and their family, and your grandparents!"

Y/N's smile slightly fell. "O-Oh! That's...awesome."

"Is everything all right, sweetie?" Tiana asked.

"Yup!" Y/N lied. "I just realized that I left the cookies in the oven for too long. I've gotta go, Mom. Bye!"

"Oh, okay," Tiana said. "Bye, Honey-"

Y/N hung up the phone and dropped it onto the couch next to her. She placed her face in her hands as she let out a groan.

She loved her family. She really did. But, she had a pretty big family. And, she didn't think she had enough rooms for her entire family to stay in her house. I mean, that was 32 people! In one home.

Granted, Y/N had quite a nice house for someone that was so young. And, some people could share rooms, of course. She was sure her family would understand. It was either that or exiling some of her family to a cheap motel. And, Y/N couldn't bring herself to do that.

So, she picked up her purse and headed out the door. She would need to go shopping if she planned on housing 32 people. She surely needed more food, more beds, and she needed to get some fun activities to entertain her nieces and nephews. Things like coloring books and board games. And, maybe some Christmas movies!

Y/N found herself smiling brightly at the idea of being with her family for the first time in a whole year. She couldn't wait to see her parents, her grandparents, her siblings. And, of course, everyone else.

Y/N got into her car and turned on the heat to help warm her up. She grabbed her phone and scrolled through some of her social media while she waited for the cold to be replaced with warmth.

She sighed as she came across a picture of her two friends in Hawaii. Krystal Walsh and Mikayla Balboa. Krystal was a pale skinned girl with reddish brown hair and green eyes. Mikayla was a girl with peach skin. Her hair was a ginger color that she always hated and her eyes were as brown as a walnut.

She had met both of them in high-school, during a Christmas party. Y/N had a little too much to drink and began to panic, when two strangers appeared at her side and kept her out of danger for the whole night. Krystal, Mikayla, and Y/N had been friends ever since.

Y/N had hoped to spend time with them during Christmas, or at least New Years Eve, but they were on vacation. Y/N always found it ridiculous to go on tropical vacations during the cold, holiday season. Who wouldn't want to look out their window and see the comforting image of snow falling? Y/N couldn't fathom it. But, her friends were pretty excited about it, so they went.

Y/N liked the picture and decided to leave a jokingly salty comment. She thought for a moment before typing out a clever comment.

HollyDay13: I'd rather feel snow underneath me than itchy sand, but you do you.
KrystalWalsh69: Yeah, have fun getting frostbite.
MikaylaBalboa420: We can still roll mistletoe blunts no matter where we are, so jokes on youuu

Y/N rolled her eyes at the responses her friends had given her. Mikayla was probably high and if she had to take a guess, Krystal was too. Mistletoe blunts, that's ridiculous...could that work?

Y/N was snapped out of her thoughts by her phone buzzing. She looked down to see a message from her best friend, Casey Robinson.

Casey: Hey, can you meet me at McDonalds, real quick?
Y/N: Uh, yeah, sure. Why?
Casey: I just wanna talk.
Y/N: Okay, I'll be there in like 5-10 minutes.

Y/N put her phone back in her purse and began to drive. She couldn't help but ponder what Casey wanted to talk to her about. Was it something important? Something random? Or did he just want to eat McDonalds, but was too scared to eat alone? The possibilities were endless, especially with Casey.

Y/N and Casey ordered their food and sat down at a booth off in the corner. "Okay, so, what's up?"

"Oh, right!" Casey said. "So, remember that girl I was talking to?"

"Yeah," Y/N nodded. "Macy?"

"Uh-huh," Casey nodded. "So, turns out, you were right. She's a walking red flag. Only wanted me for weed. Unbelievable , isn't it?"

"Yeah, unbelievable," Y/N nodded. "It's not like I told you or anything."

"Yeah, yeah," Casey rolled his eyes. "But, I met this new person! His name is Jake and he has a huge di-"

"Okay, okay!" Y/N cut him off quickly. "I like girls, I don't want to hear about the genitals of men."

"I know," Casey rolled his eyes. "But, you're the only one I can talk about this stuff with!"

"What about Krystal and Mikayla?" Y/N suggested.

"Mikayla doesn't like hearing about that, either!" Casey sighed. "You know that she's a lesbian. And, Krystal is asexual."

"Kind of ironic, huh?" Y/N said with a chuckle. "She's ace, but the dirtiest jokes I've ever heard have come from her."

Casey nodded. "Yeah. Especially that one joke she made about scissors."

Y/N couldn't help but laugh at the remembrance of her friends raunchy jokes. Krystal and Mikayla were handfuls. So, was Casey. But, she loved all three of them. And, she felt extremely lucky that she was able to meet them and form a bond this great.

"So, is that all you wanted to talk about?" Y/N asked. "Your new fling?"

"Yeah, pretty much," Casey shrugged. "And, it's not a fling! This could really turn into something! He's a stoner, just like me."

"Yeah," Y/N scoffed. "And, so was that one chick. The walking red flag, remember? And, she was just using you."

"Not all stoners are like that," Casey stated. "Stop stereotyping."

Y/N gave him a look. "You're so kidding, right? I know they're not all like that. My only three friends are stoners. Heck, I used to be one. Trust me, I'm not stereotyping."

"Yeah, well-"

"Number 182!" A voice called. "Your order is ready."

"That's us," Y/N smirked.

(Hope you enjoyed it! As always have a good day/night! TOODLES!!!)
