Once again, she stood before the mirror. This time dressed casually, sexy, but still casual. Happy looked good on her – she certainly hadn’t felt the emotion since she started tackling her demons by herself. However, this week had been one of her best in quite a long time.

High Spirits. Since her run with Hendrichs she’d been in high spirits. She was smiling a whole lot more, and the auto shop had become a place of solace as well. She’d been enjoying work, the passing banter she’d hold with Logan during work hours, and the passing gazes between her and the boss man himself. The thrill of wanting, but not having, had her at an all-time high.

She’d tried so hard not to think about the date he had asked her on, but it had been so hard considering how her feelings towards him had somehow found themselves escalating. It didn’t help that each day he’d text, just to find out how she was doing – all the ‘allys’ included. He’d really taken up the role of being a friend quite seriously, and though she was not used to it, though it felt foreign – she liked this vibe he was introducing her to.

When this would fail, he certainly was making it hard for the very next guy. Not that Hendrichs himself had started doing anything to impress her – he’d just chosen to be present.

Nonetheless, today was Saturday – the day she’d be risking her life, right alongside Logan. She was going to meet him at his place – because she’d never been to his place, which she had mentioned to him, and he’d invited her over. They would then drive to Tandem together in Logan’s car and cross off the item from both their bucket lists.

Like déjà vu, her phone vibrated against her chest of drawers. She smiled because it was her dad calling, and she hadn’t spoken to him since the Sunday she left Boston for Chicago. She missed him, but her mind hadn’t gotten around to actually allowing her to call him normally. She had become so used to calling him when she needed something, or when he wanted to know that she was okay. Now, things were so different.

“My guy!” She immediately answered, her pitch high and a grin growing on her face.

“Heyy! She is in good spirits; dare I say happy!” He cheered, and she laughed at his remark.

“You have no idea how happy I am to hear your voice, let alone that you called me.” She connected her AirPods to her phone, placing it in her pocket so she could move around and finish up with her look. She couldn’t believe that she used to dislike them, but now she just loved the convenience of them.

“And you have no idea how happy I am to hear you like this. To hear a hint that my girl is coming back to me, this just makes me the happiest man on this planet.” It was tone. His damn tone of sincerity that tugged at her heart.

“Dad.” She pouted. She liked that she was rising a good emotion within him – anything that was not hurt, disappointment, or anger.

“I’m being for real. Even just to call you when I feel like it, I appreciate that so much. Shows me that you are putting in the work.”

She closed her eyes, a mixture of being content, and feeling guilty welling up inside her. “I derailed sometime this week. Got myself pissy drunk dad. I know that’s not what you taught me. Then some punk nigga thought it would be wise to spike my drink.” Her nose flared as she relayed the message to her dad.

“Shanae.” He reprimanded.

“I know dad. I know. I should have never gotten past the point of tipsy. Should have known better. I know.” She sighed.

“Are you okay?” His concern. It made all the anger that was stored in her heart, towards herself and the attempted perpetrator, fade away.

“Thank God for Marie. And Hendrichs. I’m good.”

“You’re just gonna slip his name right in there?” He teased, and she chuckled in response.

“I wasn’t out with him. However, that’s who Marie decided to call. Then he made sure I recovered well.” Her voice faded as she ended her sentence, she was quite embarrassed by herself for it.

“You pressing charges on this perp?”

His question was met with silence. A few seconds of silence as Shane tried to put her words together.

“I don’t see the need to. The police in this city aren’t my friends. Plus, he didn’t actually rape me. Honestly starting to feel like I’m attracting sexual harassment hey. No hate to you dad, but men are horrible.” She shook her head and picked up her black clutch with a golden chain – then proceeded to place her essentials in it, just a few anyway, before closing it.

“I’m honestly so sorry that this is happening to you. In no way, or form is it your fault either. You just have to know that this is an evil world we live in. You’ve got to protect yourself as a woman – in as much as we’d all like for men to have control over their own urges.”

“Definitely is an evil world. In other news, I’m visiting Jesus tomorrow. Please tell mom, I know she’ll be ecstatic.” A small smile climbed onto her face as she placed her favorite golden watch onto her wrist.

He laughed, and so did Shane eventually – her dad made her so happy.

“We both are glad to hear that. They say raise a child in a certain way, and they will never depart from it.” She could hear this gladness he spoke of in his voice; hence she shook her head.

“Chill out. Never said I’m returning to him faithfully, just said I’m visiting him.” Shane casually responded.

“Hey! All He needs is that visitation, and He could completely change your life. This therapy thing would go so much more easier for you.”

“What? He’s gonna be my therapist now?” She scoffed, quickly scanning the room before walking down the stairs to her kitchen.

“More than that. Your healer, and your peace.”

“Aha. I’ll be reporting back Monday morning and letting you know that these are all lies.” She smiled, picking her keys, and her helmet. She was ready to leave as soon as she wrapped up her call with her dad.

He laughed, truly enjoying this banter he had going on with his daughter.

“I’ll be waiting for that call too. I’d just called to check on my baby girl. Don’t go too silent on me now.”

“I’m trying. This communication thing is very foreign to me. I haven’t even spoken to Luke in a minute.” She bit the bottom of her lip, taking a seat on the bar stool.

“Call your mom too. Can’t believe you left her on read.”

“I reacted to the message!” She tried to plead her case, but a laugh escaped her lips.

“You know better than to make my wife sad.”

“I’ll send a voice message as soon as I get back in. I gotta run.”

“Who are you going to see? Hendrichs?” He sounded so serious. She laughed because he sounded so serious.

“Dad please! No I am not. I see Hendrichs tomorrow, he’s taking me to church. Right now I’m going to sky dive.” She was always open with her dad, and she liked that a lot.

“Who you going with? I’m pinning that Hendrichs conversation, out here going on dates with your boss.”

“Oh my gosh! Stop! I’m going with a friend. His name is Logan. He works at the AutoShop. No I am not juggling anybody here. I am not going on dates with my boss too!” She softly chuckled at the lie she told at the end. A half lie really since she wasn’t going on this date for two and a half more weeks.

“Hmm. Come back alive please. I’m too young to arrange a funeral.” She rolled her eyes at his response, a permanent smile on her face because her father was so damn extra – but she liked it like that.

“I’ll text you too when I get back to my place.”

“Nah Uh. I need a voice message as well. Matter of fact, let me create a family group chat after this call. It’s time we all stay connected.”

“You’re so extra! I will voice message you. I love you, bye.” She didn’t immediately hang up because she wanted to hear his response.

“I love you more baby girl.” He then did the honors of ending the call, which left her heart smiling as she pulled up Logan’s contact and sent him a text letting him know that she was on her way.

Before she pulled up the pin location he’d sent her, she went over to Hendrichs’ chat. Her thumb hovered over it. They hadn’t really gotten into on the surface texting which she wanted, outside of checking on each other’s allys. She wanted him to be the one to initiate that, however, maybe it would be a vibe she’d be introducing to him.

It was a tug of war between her pride and her desire that caused her to stare at her phone for some time. She didn’t even bother to look at Logan’s response, until she decided. She tapped on his chat and started typing out a cute little message. Hopefully he’d be receptive to it. Who was this hopeful girl, this girl with feelings for another human being, and what had she done with Shane? That was the question she asked herself.

going skydiving.
if I die – it was good knowing you

She locked her screen and placed her phone in her bag as she walked out of her apartment, locking up. She walked towards the elevators, helmet in hand, then pressed the down arrow.

Taking a step back, she glanced up at the floor counter, and saw that the elevator was approaching her floor. She took a step back just in case someone was inside – then waited.

Sure enough, someone was inside as the doors opened. They crossed eyes, and a small smile climbed onto Annalise’s face. She had a bunch of boxes in her hands – that meant that she was telling the truth when she said she was leaving.

“Hi.” Shane surprisingly greeted first because Annalise had no plan to.

“Oh wow. You’re greeting me?” Annalise looked so taken aback as she walked out of the elevator.

“Surprising I know. Especially with my recent attitude towards you.” She cracked a small smile and let the elevator doors closed.

“Heavy on that attitude.” She put weight on her back leg, “I heard you got caught up in an incident at the club, I’m really sorry about that by the way.”

“Yeah. Thanks. You’re moving out?” Shane shifted on her feet, looking at her – but not directly at her.

“Preparing to. You’re happy about that, right?”

“Listen Annalise. I was such a crappy human being to you about Logan. I should have never thrown that in your face – despite my feelings on what you’d done.” She didn’t dare to meet Annalise’s eyes; she didn’t want to. She just wanted to close this chapter on a good note.

“No, I really should have taken you seriously when you said you are a blunt person.” Liz cracked a smile, “We both were found in the wrong. Don’t worry about it.”

“Why are you moving then?”

“It seems this is not my place. I should just go back to what I’m used to. Though the people in the upper class are fake as hell, at least they are nice.” She shrugged, “Thank you for apologizing.”

“Best of luck then Annalise.” She bit her lip, moving to press the down arrow, “Also, you shouldn’t leave just because of a little bit of adversity – and that’s rich, coming from me, the nomad.”

“I just want peace, and to be some place I’m wanted.” She responded with a small voice.

“Breaking news Anna, you’re not gonna find it on planet earth. So just make the best out of every situation.” Again, the corner of the lip tugged up – cracking a tiny smile of sympathy towards her.

“Liz.” Annalise corrected.

To which Shane chuckled. “Good talking to you ‘Liz’.” She air quoted, and the doors opened, then she walked in.

“Shane.” Annalise called out.

“Yes Annalise?” She held onto the door, just so she could hear what she had to say. She’d already selected the basement parking on the buttons.

“Take care of yourself. And if we organically bump into each other, I’d really like to be friends with you, the right way this time.” A shy smile etched onto her face before she turned around and walked towards her apartment.

Shane sighed. Then she let the doors close, and the elevator descend. She took her phone out and searched for Annalise’s contact – then she unblocked it. Her kindness, it completely broke all the ice Shane had built up against her.

She then typed out a message to Annalise – hoping that she was making the right decision, and not an impulsive one based on her current emotions.

if you are keen, I’m open to
helping you pack when I come back.
Or unpack?

She left Annalise’s chat, heading to her settings so she could find another blocked number that she’d long deleted. She unblocked it, Siri suggesting to her that it was an old number she once had. That she could save it under Nadia yet again. But she didn’t. She just opened the chat, not sure if the number still worked. However, knowing Nadia – she hadn’t changed her number since high school.

She typed out another message. Today she was doing a lot of texting, and when she was satisfied – she pressed send, as she did not want to change her mind.

pick a date.
I’ll pick the place. let’s talk

She walked towards her Cruiser. Before she could pocket her phone, it vibrated, a response coming in from Annalise.

Annalise
Packing for now. But sure.

Not knowing what to say, Shane reacted to the message with a heart before finally placing her phone in her pocket. Then she got on her bike and brought it to life. Annalise was just too kind, way too soft-hearted. She honestly felt like she was walking all over her, and she didn’t know how to feel about that.

“Shane darling, you are literally leaving nothing to imagination.” Logan shook his head, a smile on his face as he went in for a hug.

“You should know this is me by now Lo.” She responded into his neck. He was referring to her white seamless crop that was pretty much see through, and she had no bra underneath to mask her bosom. However, she did have on a pair of mom jeans – so that was modest enough, at least in her eyes.

“I’m just telling it like it is. Lowkey feel like you’re trying to seduce me though.” He laughed as he let her go, extending his hand behind him, so she could walk in front of him.

“Is it working?” She smirked as she led the way to his house, not apartment like he’d implied before, but a house.

“Naah. Need a little more than a peek into the chest of a woman to be seduced.” He slightly shook his head, a hint of teasing audible in his voice. His truth honestly made her smile, she liked that he was not like most men. It wasn’t just his word, but his actions stood right by his word.

“I’m really excited to meet the woman who’s gonna catch your heart.” She smiled, glancing back at him.

“You should take a look in the mirror Shane. I don’t know why you’re making this difficult.” He playfully rolled his eyes.

“So corny, expected a way better line from you Lo. And I’m being forreal.” Shane led the way into his house before he closed the door behind them.

“What do you wanna see first?” he asked, “Also, don’t know if I should offer you food or not?”

“Just give me a tour. Don’t worry about food.”

And so he complied, taking her around the house – showing her his place of rest. He had so much art on display, mostly from African artists. She loved that, and the aesthetic of the place. He had a lot of neutral colors in the place, and he was most definitely a plant dad. It was as though she was discovering a new side to him – one that added so much more richness to his personality.

“Shane.” He called her name, standing a few feet away from her.

“Hmm.” She answered, her eyes still on the art that was on display before her. It was the side profile of an elephant’s head. It was massive, it held so much color – each stroke was beautifully visible. Some color was dripping down from the elephant, such a strong and massive creature – but when you looked at his eye, you could see the sorrow buried in it. The sadness, the brokenness. She didn’t know how this artist had portrayed all this in a single eye, but she was in love with the painting.

Logan wanted to ask her a question but gazing at her looking at the art – he decided to leave it alone.

“Lo, may I please have this one? I can pay?” She spun around, looking at him – so much emotion evident on her face. More than he’d ever seen.

“I would love to give it to you, but this one represents me so perfectly.” Logan opened up to her, letting his strength go, just so she could see that aside from the jokes and good energy – he felt so purposeless.

Shane’s shoulders sagged in realization. “Damn Logan. It’s a lot of us out here?” Her voice was shaky, but her tears were locked within a vault, “I was hoping it wasn’t a lot of us out here.”

He cracked a tiny smile. “I think that’s why I’m so drawn to you. Because I see you. I wanted you to see me too. Beyond the flirting, and the laughs, and jokes. Beyond my energy.”

“How do you cope?” She moved closer to him, touching his arm.

“Honestly?”

“Yeah.”

“I go to work. I take myself out of the emotion. I run. I talk to my boy Hendrichs. I try to live life on the edge. Meet new people. I don’t know.”

“I’m so sorry Logan. You of all people deserve to be happy.” She rubbed his arm slowly, a small smile of sympathy on her face. “We can totally cancel skydiving if you don’t want to.”

“I actually want to go skydiving with you.” He placed his hand over hers, stopping her hand from moving. “And honestly Shane, I believe it’s just me feeling like I don’t know my purpose that has me on my knees. Once I figure that out, I think I’ll be good to go.”

“Okay, we’ll go skydiving then. Maybe as you’re plummeting to your potential death – you’ll find purpose.” She smiled, widely at that and he chuckled at her statement.

“I don’t think it works like that, but gee, thanks.”

“You’re welcome!” she cheered, “Still really want that painting though.”

“I know.” He smirked, “However, I want to know why you won’t tell me about you being friends with Hendrichs now? I had to find out from him? I thought we were better than that.”

“Because its not your business Lo. I don’t see how it adds or takes away from your life.” She doubled her arms, one over the other.

“Well damn. Hows about we’re friends and friends give each other heads ups. Like Hendrichs did.” A little smirk surfaced on his face, “It’s probably because you knew I’d forever tease you about it. Considering you despised the man. Is this a little enemies to lovers trope going on right now?”

“Bro. Get out.” She rolled her eyes, her acting top tier in that moment. She absolutely had no idea why Hendrichs thought it would be wise to give Logan, who holds no water, a heads up – it was none of his business at all.

“It’s okay. I totally won’t be teasing you about this.” He flashed her an over-the-top wink, “But I have to say I called this. I just saw it coming – it’s always guaranteed when tensions are high.”

Again she rolled her eyes, “What did that man say to you?”

“Business. Get you some.” He spoke to sassily that she couldn’t help but to laugh.

“You know what? Let’s go, before I cancel this activity and do it by myself – some other day.” She was fighting a smile, and he caught that, but he kept his words to himself. He wanted her to get to a point where she would eventually open up about herself to him. He didn’t just want an on the surface kind of friendship with her, but a meaningful one as well.

One thing he lacked in this lifetime he was living was friendship. He had found it in Hendrichs, and in Amaru – and superficially with Michael too. However, he wanted more friends – more people to care for, and more people to care about him.

What attracted him to Shane was her energy to just bulldoze through life and get what she wanted – despite the obstacles she often would meet. He wanted people like her in his life and he couldn’t begin to comprehend why.

“Let’s goo!” He rubbed his hands before allowing her to leave his place first – just so he could lock up behind her.

As she was stepping out, her phone buzzed against her hip – and she took it out. She had texted too many people, and she needed to see who had responded, and what that person had said.

This time around, it was Mr. Hayes, and his response simply brought a smile to her face – subconsciously so.

Mr. Hayes💛
There are so many perks to
having you RIP, but I’d still
like for you to come back in
one piece. You going alone?

She immediately typed up a response. Though her head was in the phone, and a smile remained etched on her lips – she managed to keep herself upright, not tripping on anything as she made her way to Logan’s car.

Shut up, lmao.
Can’t believe you told Logan we’re friends.
No I’m not going alone. Jealous?

The delivered note immediately turned to read, which made her happy. He was on her chat – watching for a response. That became evident when he immediately started typing and soon after, his message appeared.

Mr. Hayes💛
Not jealous. Honestly love
my life here on planet earth.
About Logan, you tryna keep us
a secret Ms. Daniels?

She bit her lip, stopping right in front of Logan’s car as she thought of a response. It came immediately too.

I’d prefer to keep you a secret lol.
Too many perks to having you all
to myself Mr. Hayes.

●●●

He leaned against the side of his Jeep – he was dressed in all black and wore his black glasses to add an edge to his look. She’d chosen to have him wait in the parking lot of her apartment building instead of coming up and meeting her at her door.

Apparently, she wanted to hit him with the element of surprise when it came to her outfit since she’d put a lot of effort into it – and according to her word, that was something she didn’t often do.

He mindlessly scrolled on his Instagram feed, double tapping on the picture that Logan had posted of himself and Shane in the air. It was extremely wild to him how one could think to possibly live that recklessly, but power to them who chose to live life on the edge.

He was a very much by the rules kind of guy, and someone who liked to have control over his life, and the choices he made. Therefore, he was glad that he hadn’t gotten that request to go skydiving. He did, however, get quite the picture of the type of dates Shane could possibly find herself enjoying.

His phone pinged, a text message pushing to his notifications. The name simply brought a smile to his face, and the content of the message itself – made him feel bad, but he felt so much joy, that despite it all, she’d still managed to text him.

The Fav Cuzzo🧸
It’s the fact that you blatantly
chose to forget my birthday.
Months passed. No sign of a gift.
It’s giving you don’t love me anymore.
It’s giving I’m not your fav. Yet, I still
think of you. Send a dot to show
you’re alive.
Yours, G.

He quickly went to his calendar, not sure why it hadn’t reminded him of her birthday. Gianna always made a big deal about birthdays being missed, even though she tried not to make it seem like that.

Usually, each year – he’d send a bookstore gift coupon her way or get her a six-month subscription to Netflix or Spotify. Just to seem like he hadn’t forgotten, but he needed to do better.

He felt as though the distance, in terms of the places they lived, put that stretch in their relationship which has always been rock solid. With Seattle being a good 30 hour plus drive, and approximately 7 hours away by flight – it had been hard for them to actually see each other.

And since this holiday that Shane had suggested, became so much more appealing after having a chat with his mother and Lena – he was leaning towards having it soon, rather than later. He was worried that once he left, a lot of chaos would happen. Nonetheless, he was still going to consider leaving, especially since Haines City didn’t burn down when he spent quite some time in Baltimore with Logan.

He began constructing his response in his head before he moved his fingers across the screen, typing his thoughts into digital words.

G! I feel so guilty – also can’t believe
that I forgot your birthday. You’re
still my fav. That’s never going to
change. Listen, I’m going to fly into Seattle
in the coming week.

Let me know if
you’re free to do a lunch, catch
up, and get a free shopping spree? Does
that author you like so much have a new book out? Maybe I can sponsor that one too.
Yours, xx.

Now he certainly had to make that seven-hour flight, just so he could show her that she still meant the most to him. Lately, he’d been busy with the business, Shane, Amaru – and a whole lot more, that he’d become just satisfied with following her life through Instagram posts and stories. It wasn’t hard to do that when this generation never kept anything a mystery.

He heard the elevator ping, and his eyes moved from his screen to the elevator which Shane was walking out of. What his eyes  found was breath-taking, she looked stunning in every way possible. As though somehow, they’d planned it, she was also in a full black outfit. She moved the one loc that swayed in her face to the back of her ear, as she made her way to him.

Black leather pants. Black nylon turtleneck. Black Stiletto Heeled Boots on. She had added sexy to modest, and he was honestly surprised that she’d gone for this look. He expected a somewhat rebellious Shane – but this Shane seemed so keen to follow a bit of some unspoken rules.

“Okay Shane!” He cheered her on, folding his arms as he kept his sights on her. She had her signature hoops on, and a black clutch as accessory.

A smile came forth on her face, "You like?"

"I wasn't expecting this look at all. I love." He openly complimented her, and she twirled immediately — just so he could get a 360° view of how good she looked. She felt good as well — and this was a look she never explored before.

Annalise had lent her the pants and the turtle neck —saving her from going on a shopping trip to buy an outfit for church, since she had none. And she'd looked. All her 'modest' clothing had been way too formal for the occasion, and she didn't want to be overdressed.

"You must really like me to match my steeze though." He added, and she paused — rolling her eyes at him.

"You just had to take the fun out of everything. I didn't even know you'd be wearing black."

He chuckled. "Let's go Shane. We're gonna be late."

He moved around the car, opening Shane's door for her. "Why are you calling me Shane? You never call me Shane." She paused before him, locking her eyes on him.

"Is it not your name?"

"Okay, but Shanae is what you always choose to call me." She blinked.

"Oh boy. Get in the car Shane." He honestly liked that she was beginning to show her feelings towards him, and that they were not hidden behind their banter.

"So irritating." She huffed, and he smiled as she climbed in, and he closed the door behind her.

It didn't take long before they got to the church, and they'd kept their silence —letting music be their company, as it had always been with the two. He parked his car with ease, despite the security trying to help him park.

He glanced over at her, watching her side profile as she was deep within her phone.

"You nervous?"

She looked up, softly biting her lip, and slowly nodded her head which was followed with a nervous chuckle.

"Yeah."

"Don't be."

"Gee, thanks Sarah. Totally didn't think about that." She responded, sarcasm drenched within her voice.

"I'm being forreal. There's no need to be nervous. This is God's house, and He says come as you are. You'll be fine. Besides, I'm right there besides you." He took her hand in his, and squeezed it. For a moment their hands remained like that, until she squeezed back.

"I guess I'm just scared because church hurt is real. As much as it's God's house, His people aren't so Jesus-like." She leaned back into her seat, turning her face so she could look at him.

Again, their eyes met. "I know. However, I really like the vibe I get from this church — hence I'm still there. It's where I got the idea to start the culture I have at work — men walking together to better themselves. Empowering one another."

"Ain't a lot of bettering going on with Michael though." She cracked a smile, and he shook his head at her.

"Don't be that person." He almost chuckled, but he held it in.

"Hey. I'm not lying though, am I? You were about to fire the whole man just now."

"I didn't though, did I? No I didn't. Stop delaying, let's go inside." He smiled, unbuckling his seat belt. Then he watched her hesitantly taking off hers.

"Okay. Wish me luck." She breathed through her sentence.

"I don't need to. Out." He demanded, to which she rolled her eyes, and opened her door. "Oh, and just a heads up that you might bump into Lena. My family comes to this church."

"Oh wow. Such a heads up, right before I step into the house of the Lord, knowing damn well I have no way of running away." She narrowed her eyes as she stepped out of the car. Once she shut her door, he locked the car, and they met halfway, in front of his car.

"You could always call an Uber, or I'll call you one if you want to leave." He suggested, placing his hand out for her to take or leave.

She rolled her eyes, which she had been doing a whole lot lately around him these days, "Let's just get this over and done with." Then she took his hand, allowing him to take lead into the church.

The spacing was warm, and so were the ushers who stood randomly in the foyer, welcoming them and wishing them a good service.

"Where do you want to sit?" He asked as they approached the sliding doors that would lead them into the auditorium.

"In the middle. Where do you usually sit?" She clung to his arm, he could literally feel her nerves. He honestly never thought he'd ever meet a person who would be scared of church.

"I usually sit closer to the front, but not in front. I like to have a clear view of the stage."

"Okay." She simply said, and he led her to the middle seats of the auditorium. A lot of people hadn't come yet, so they didn't have to excuse themselves as they moved the center of the row.

"You good?" he asked, as they both took their seats.

"Yeah. You?"

"I am. I've decided to take that week long break by the way, thanks to a very persuasive person." He nudged her arm, trying to move her mind away from her nerves.

"Always knew I could get what I want out of you." She smirked, but kept her eyesight ahead.

"Oh is it now?" He moved closer, speaking into her ear.

"How else would you explain me working in a boys only club H?" She turned her face, meeting eye to eye, but their faces weren't that far apart.

"Maybe I've wanted you in my reach all along?" He dropped his voice, and she rolled her eyes.

"Nah. I just know how to get what I want. So, where are you going?" She smirked, and they both softly chuckled.

"Then maybe, but now, I just realized you were right is all. Don't toot your horn that much."

She was about to open her mouth to speak but then the worship leader started speaking, encouraging everyone that was still in the foyer to move right in because worship would be starting then.

She didn't expect to meet Jesus realistically in that service, but as the worship team kept on singing, her heart was brought to a place of such vulnerability. This particular song itself had touched her in places she'd never been touched before — bringing her to tears.

Are you hurting and broken within?
Overwhelmed by the weight of your sin
Jesus is calling.

Oh come to the altar
The fathers arms are opened wide
Forgiveness, was brought with
The precious blood of Jesus Christ

Leave behind your regrets and mistakes
Come today, there's no reason to wait
Jesus is calling
Bring your sorrows and trade them for joy
From the ashes, a new life is born
Jesus is calling

Oh what a Savior

Isn't He wonderful

Sing Hallelujah, Christ is Risen
