[Jeongin]

To know that Felix was no longer the same sweet boy we had grown to love, he seemed so.. well exactly how he used to be before all of this happened. The cold, harsh blonde boy we first met at the beginning of the school year has returned and I think that makes this heartache even worse.

Cause not only did we lose him, we lost the Felix we knew him to be.

And so soon after these events happening, I leave for spring break tomorrow. Being away from Hyunjin, my only form of peace anymore, even for only a week is gonna be hard.

There was a knock from the doorway as I finished packing. Hyunjin, in all his beautiful glory, stood there leaning against the frame as he put his hands in his pockets.

"Hey." He said with a small smile as I zipped my duffel bag.

"Hey. Jungkook wants us all to go to a movie tonight. To try and give us a moment we can forget everything for while. You feel up for it?"

"As long as you are going too." I dropped my bag in the floor as I walked up to him and he straightened up his posture. I looped an arm around his waist and gave him a kiss.

When I pulled away a watched a blush color his cheeks. "I'd be a monster to leave you alone with Jungkook." He chuckled.

"Well, we have hours until the movie and I'm done packing, so what do we do until then?"

"I was gonna paint something, maybe. You can watch if you want." He informed and smiled. I followed him into his room and watched as he set up his area. Easel, paints, brushes, canvas.

I sat on his bed and hugged one of his pillows as he sat down on his stool. His phone buzzed on his bed, showing Heeseung's ID.

"Jinnie, Heeseung texted you."

"Can you answer it for me, tell him I'm painting." He didn't look away from his canvas, he gets so lost when he paints that I'm surprised he heard me.

I unlocked his phone and read the message.

Lil brother
| wish you could come with us, I miss seeing you :(

That's right. They were brothers. I can't believe I had almost forgotten literally the most life changing news Hyunjin had ever received. I bet he misses him just as much. They haven't been around each other since Christmas.

"Hey Jinnie. I'll be right back."

I snatched Hyunjin's phone and tried to not seem suspicious when I left the room, not that i think Hyunjin even paid attention.

Then I pressed call.

It rang twice before Heeseung immediately answered.

"Oh Jeongin. I was expecting.. why are you calling?" He looked confused.

"He's painting, sorry. Uhm.. I know you heard about what happened, with Felix. Hyunjin hasn't been handling it very well." I began and he sighed, nodding.

"I know. That's why I wish he could come. It's sucks that I can't be there for him. For both of you."

"That's actually why I was calling." I admitted. "What time do you leave Seoul?"

"2 am is when our plane leaves. Why?"

"Would you be able to take a train here? Just for a little while today? I can pay for it, and have back by the time you need to check into the airport. I just think he really needs you right now."

"I'd have to ask our mom, but I can try." He said.

"Okay, just let me know and I'll like, Venmo you the money or something."

"Okay. Take my number from Hyunjin's phone and text me that way I have yours. If she says yes, I want this to be a surprise."

We said our goodbyes and hung up. And for the love of God, I really hoped he could. Cause despite knowing I can make him happy. I know for a fact no one can make him happier than his own brother and I want to be able to see him truly smile before I leave.

——

He's been painting the past five hours. Heeseung is already in town. I'm groveling at his mothers feet in my imagination right now. I texted Jisung to see if he could get Chan to agree to pick him up from the station.

Trying to coordinate this whole thing behind his back without seeming to excited about it or seem suspicious was really difficult. Plus the amount of times I've almost spilled the beans to him was too many too count on one hand.

My phone buzzed in my pocket. It was Heeseung.

| Just got on campus.

The urge to jump to my feet and do a little happy dance was almost to great. But instead I just stood and went up behind Hyunjin, rubbing his back.

"Jinnie baby? I know it's bad too stop you in the middle of your creativity mindset, but could you put this on pause and come downstairs.

"Can it wait like two minutes? I swear I'm almost done."

I just kissed him cheek and nodded, it did look nearly complete. Maybe it would make it a better surprise.

I walked downstairs and tried to run to the door before he would knock. I stepped out into the porch as Chan was pulling up to the curb. Talk about perfect timing.

Jisung stepped out of the car with Heeseung and Chan pulled away.

"We've got like 2 minutes. Mind hiding in the kitchen until his comes down?" I asked keeping my hand on the door. He nodded, keeping quiet as we walked into the house. Jisung sat on the couch. Heeseung disappeared and I could hear Hyunjin shuffling upstairs.

So I quickly sat down next to Jisung and began a fake conversation.

"So you excited for break?" I asked him, with a cough from my throat.

"Yea, I suppose. Huening Kai is flying to Hawaii to see his mom, so I won't be able to see him at all. Which sucks. But it's only a week, it'll fly by quickly if I have fun." He shrugged. I didn't think of it like that before. The weeks only seem long because school is so boring and dreadful.

"I guess that's true. I wish I didn't have to leave Hyunjin here along though."

"Changbin and Seungmin are staying. They can keep him company."

"So what's up with those two? Are they together yet?"

He nodded very quickly. "You didn't hear that from me though. They want to keep it quiet for a little bit before telling everyone in our group."

"Oh, okay gotcha." I whispered just as Hyunjin descended the stairs.

"Hey what did you need me down here- oh hey Jisung." He spoke, with that same small half empty smile. We both stood and I cleared my throat.

"So uhm, I did something." I admitted and he looked a little worried for a split second before I raised my hands. "Nothing bad I promise! It was a surpri-"

"Hey big brother." Heeseung came into few of the kitchen threshold and Hyunjin froze, instantly recognizing the voice. He slowly turned around and I've never seen two people get so excited so quickly.

Hyunjin scooped his brother into a hug so quickly it might have given him whiplash. I couldn't help but smile so big.

"So you like the surprise?" I asked rocking on my heels.

Hyunjin turned to me. "Like it? Baby I love it!" He tan over to me and began giving me kisses all over my face until his lips landed on mine. I let out a happy breath. My hand in the back of his neck. He pulled away, that full smile on his face. "Thank you."

"So! What are we doing now?" Heeseung came over and flipped down on the couch, feet up and crossed at the ankles.

"Well we are supposed to see a movie with- Shit! What time is it? The movie starts at 4!" Hyunjin interrupted himself.

"It's barely 3, love. We have an hour until we need to get ready." I reassured him.

"Movie with who?" Heeseung raised a brow.

"Jungkook. My best friend.. from this school at least." Hyunjin informed with a smile.

"Well as long as you still love me the same I don't mind if you call him your best friend, bub." The boy stood and headed towards the kitchen. "Where is everybody? Those twin boys?"

"Oh, they left yesterday and our other roommate left this morning." I spoke as we all followed into the kitchen. He was already searching through the cabinets.

"Ah. Hyunjin, do I at least get to meet this Jungkook friend of yours today?" He said, as he took out a pack of pop tarts and used it to point at the brunette.

"Well you are here aren't you?"

"Fair enough." He shrugged.

I always admired there close friendship, the strong bond they had. Maybe it was because whether they knew or not, they had always deemed themselves as brothers to each other. A friendship like that is definitely worth admiring.

"Felix.. isn't gonna be there, is he?" Heeseung asked, as if our answer was gonna have too different outcomes to his reaction.

"No. He won't." I spoke first.

"Good. It wouldn't be a good thing for me to go to prison before I graduate high school." Heeseung said with a mischievous smile.

I couldn't help but laugh, realizing that Jungkook and Heeseung are almost the exact same person. They will definitely get along very well with each other. I think Hyunjin noticed that too, because he smiled and looked at me as if to ask me 'you thinking what I'm thinking?'

Jisung was silent, fiddling with his fingers. I nudged him unnoticeably to the others and his head shot up. That look had anxious written all over his face.

'You okay?' I mouth to him and he nodded. His eyes flashing to Heeseung before looking back away. Was Heeseung the cause of anxiety? But how neither of them had done anything to...

"Hyunjin, can I talk to you for a second?" I asked and he nodded, his hand brushing down my arm before following me into the living room. "Did you ever tell Heeseung that you and  Ji cleared things up?"

"Yes of course I did. Why?"

"Because Jisung is in there all quiet and detached, he keeps looking at Hee like he will throw something at him any second."

"Oh. Shit it's because Hee has a problems with grudges."Hyunjin sighed. "Trust me he would be the same way with.. never mind, I'll tell him to chill out."

Hyunjin left me in the living room passing by Jisung as Jisung walked out to me. "I guess I'm still bad guy." He nervously chuckled.

"No, you're not." I gave him a sympathetic smile and hugged him. "Come upstairs with me, let's give those two some time to themselves."

He nodded and we jogged upstairs. I looked back down, hearing the two of them laugh and I smiled once again.

This was probably the best last minute decision I've ever made.

——

We had all met Jungkook at the little diner across from the movies. Since we had all shown up early, food seemed like a good option.

Jungkook and Heeseung had already clicked really well. Probably because of their shared love for the link between them, Hyunjin. Jisung was still a little detached, but less so now. I was just sitting back watching the interactions between all of them.

After noticing how Jungkook behaved about Jisung and Hyunjin's rekindled friendships, I could tell that Heeseung calmed down a bit.

"So, what movie are we watching?" I asked, sitting forward in the booth, picking a few fries from Hyunjin's plate.

"The new marvel movie that came out about a week ago." Jungkook answered my question copying me and stealing French fries. Then everyone began to do it.

"Hey, what the fuck?" Hyunjin started swatting at his brothers hand. "These are my damn fries, back off." Heeseung and I shared a laugh as Hyunjin pulled his plate closer and used his arms as a sort of wall around it. Guarding his food.

"So Jungkook, how did you and my big brother became friends?"

"Well, actually we used to be desk partners in our first class. Was stuck with hun for a whole semester so why not right? Not the fucker sits behind me tries to distract me during class." Jungkook began poking at Hyunjin's side, tickling him and pushing him into Heeseung.

"Stop, please stop." Hyunjin was choking out laughs.

"Okay. Fine." Jungkook backed away with a grin.

Hyunjin looked at me from across the table and his eyes sparkled. I had almost thought that light died out after Felix left us. But it was still there, I guess I just didn't realize I could relight it.

His eyes glanced down at my plate, with the unfinished honey bbq chicken. His fingers stealing the fork and stabbing one. I just pushed the plate forward to allow him to finish off the last three pieces.

"Thanks, Innie." He smiled, his eyes glancing down before looking back up with those doe eyes that does things too me and he knows it.

"You're welcome, baby."

"You guys make me feel single." Jungkook pouted and crossed his arms. I smiled with a shrug.

"My bad."

"You won't be for long." Hyunjin teased him. I was unsure of what it was he was talking about but the blush that crept over Jungkook's cheeks and how shy he got. It turned him from intimidating to soft boy in less than two seconds.

"How so?" I asked, watching Jungkook's face.

"His crush is coming to visit him for spring break. Taehyung? The guy I told you about?"

"Ah, so he's coming all the way here to visit one boy?" I asked, a teasing smile fell on my lips as I watched Jungkook grow more and more shy as we talked about it.

"Guys I get it. You can stop now." He was now covering his face with his hands and everyone giggled at him.

"It's time to for the movie anyway." Hyunjin said as he checked the time in his phone. We all left cash on the table, to split and pay for the bill before we walked out.

Jungkook falling behind to match my pace, leaning down ever so slightly. "You did good, Jeongin. He seems a lot less... sad."

"I haven't seen him so happy since that weekend." I said. "I thought Heeseung could make him happier than I can right now."

"You're kidding right? You were the only thing keeping him from losing his mind." He looked at me as if my words had committed a crime. Then he shook his head. "You are his happiness Jeongin, but you still did good." His hand sat upon my shoulder for a second before walking to catch up with Hyunjin and his newfound friend.

I can take as much credit as I want for this, but I should've realized sooner. All I had to do was be there for him. It didn't take the need of anybody else. Only me.

Hyunjin glanced over his shoulder at me and waved me to catch up, holding his hand out with a bright smile. I caught up and took it, squeezing tightly.

"Can we do something together tonight? After the movie and Hee goes home?" He asked.

"Of course, like what." He had that sparkle in his eye again.

"I have a few ideas." He smirked and I instantly caught on. Oh.

I smirked back as we walked up to the snack bar. If that was the idea, then I was gonna enjoy sitting my him in the dark theater.

Heeseung came up behind us. "Jeongin thank you for bringing me out here. I really needed this." He opened an arm for a side hug and I accepted it. Hyunjin smiling at the two of us.

"Anytime." I assured. Because in complete honesty...

I think we all needed this.
