All humans and humanoids
Dream POV:
I walked through the small town. It was a cozy little place with quite a few people. I spotted a poster of a missing person near me. Poor guy. His name was Blue. He's been gone for a couple of weeks now. I saw another ad next to it that someone was making a search team to look for the missing people. A lot of others have gone missing and their bodies had been recovered. All drained of blood. All except Blue. The young, loveable, little guy with big dreams was known all throughout the town. I decided to join it. I wrote my name down and began walking away. I'd known Blue. He was one of my good friends. I was pretty upset when he went missing. I needed to get home right now though. My brother was probably wondering where I was.
I arrived back home and saw Nightmare waiting in the living room.
"Hello!" I said as I walked over. He waved. "I joined a search team looking for Blue." I told him as I sat down. Night looked a bit worried.
"What if whatever took Blue takes you? Or worse." I hugged him.
"I'll be super careful. Okay? I just really miss him. If I get a chance to get him back, I'll take it." Nightmare still looked a bit worried.
"Okay. If you see anything suspicious though, you better get out of there." He said. "Now let's get some food before your meeting. I'm hungry." I giggled and followed Night into the kitchen.
~The Next Day~
I met up with the others in the agreed spot. We all went over everything like the safety measures and set off. As we entered the forest, I got a bit uneasy. This was a tall forest. So many things could be hiding in here.
"We're going to be walking by the river, as that was where Blue was last seen heading." Just the mention of my friend made me a bit sad.
It was quite cold this morning. I'd forgotten to put on a heavy jacket, so I just wrapped my cape around me. I looked around with the others as we looked for any sign of Blue. Maybe I shouldn't have come. No. I'm not going to give up on my friend.
"What about the legend of the vampire that haunts these woods?" Some lady asked.
"Pfft. No way it's real." Someone else said.
"Could that be why the dead people have no blood? He drank it all? What if he took Blue?!" Okay I knew there was a legend about a vampire, but I didn't think of that.
"I heard he brutally murders the person before he drinks all their blood." I clutched my cape tighter. I was getting a bit scared.
"Maybe he lives in the old abandoned castle somewhere in these woods." Another person said. There's an abandoned castle out here?
We walked around for hours and hours with one lunch break and a few others. No one had seen anything of Blue. I was beginning to lose hope. I began lagging behind the main group. I heard a whimpering nearby. I was about to leave it when I thought 'What if it's Blue?' I walked in the direction I heard it come from. It slowly got louder as I walked farther. I came to a bush. I pried it open and saw a bunny. Oh. It was just a bunny. Killer would love this. I picked up the bunny and placed it outside the bush. It hopped away. I looked around. I then realized I didn't know where I was. 'Which way did I come in?!' I thought worriedly. I forgot which way I walked in. 'Oh no! What if the vampire...comes...' I watched a snowflake land on my nose. A snowflake? Oh no it's snowing. And I'm lost! I began walking in a random direction. More snow began falling and I kept going. I yelled into the woods. No one replied.
Cold. The sun had now set and the ground was beginning to slowly turn white and I was still lost. I noticed a worn down path ahead of me. I hopped onto the snowy path and began walking on it. I really hope it takes me to some sort of civilization. My cape was beginning to get soaked. I was shivering a lot now. 'Just don't focus on it, Dream.' I began listening to my feet crunching the snow beneath me. I need to get somewhere. Soon. I looked around at the rapidly falling snow. I saw something big in the distance, in a big clearing all by itself. Was that the abandoned castle? It didn't look very 'abandoned.' I began running towards it, as my body was tiring out and I needed to get somewhere fast. My legs were threatening to give out every step and my body was about to pass out. I arrived at the large wooden doors light-headed and woozy. I fell down onto my legs. I reached up and began knocking. 'Please don't be abandoned. Oh please don't be abandoned.' I pleaded in my mind as I kept weakly knocking. I felt one of the doors open. I looked up and saw a blurry person.
"C-c-can I st-stay f-f-for the n-n-" my teeth were chattering too badly to talk. I gave in and fell face first on the snow, my legs felt like they're frozen solid, and passing out.
??? POV:
I stared at the unconscious person before me. I scooped them up and ran them over to the living room where the fireplace was burning strong. But he was in here too. I put the person in front of the fire place and took their soaking wet cape off.
"What're you doing?" I heard his voice ask me.
"I found this person on your doorstep, sir. I didn't want to let them freeze." I had a little secret about this person. I knew who they were. They were my friend.
"Is this that friend you've mentioned before?" He asked me. I nodded. No use lying. "Then take as much care of them as you'd like. I need a different mortal who isn't a friend of yours." He then muttered something I didn't catch. I watched him walk away.
I turned back to our visitor. I sat beside him. 'I hope you wake up soon, Dream.' I thought.
Dream POV:
I rolled over without opening my eyes. I blinked them open and almost gasped. Blue was sitting beside me. Blue. I sat up and my legs hurt. Blue crawled over to me and helped me.
"Why're you here?" I asked him. "Also isn't this place supposed to be abandoned?"
"Well uh, it isn't. And I kind of work for someone now." Blue said. I was very confused. "Don't worry. I like it." I looked at his arms. He had those same marks on the dead people on them, but he wasn't dead. I kept asking Blue questions and he answered happily.
Then I heard stomping. Soon another person entered the room. He didn't look happy. I noticed a little splotch of ink on his pale right cheek. He also had two different color eyes.
"Welcome in." He said. "If your a friend of Blue, you're welcome anytime." He looked at the other door in the room. "Are you good on food?" He asked Blue
"I've got enough to last a few more days." The newcomer nodded.
"I'm Ink by the way." He said. "You?"
"Dream. Thanks for letting me stay for a bit." He nodded again. "Also, are you the one who keeps killing people?"
"They come into my land and act like a jerk? They get what they deserve." Ink then walked off into the other room.
"That's Ink for you. He's a bit grumpy now but he's usually pretty nice." Blue said. "Also he is a vampire. That's why these are here." Blue held out his arms and showed me all the bites. "He's grumpy now because he needs some blood. And no one's around."
"Huh."
"Blue!" We heard Ink's voice call as he stormed back in. "Can you make food for you and Dream?" He asked, a bit nicer than before. Blue nodded and ran off, leaving me and Ink alone.
He walked up to me. I slowly stood up, my legs were doing better now. He walked a bit closer.
"Dream. I know we just met, but I need to ask you a favor." He grabbed my shoulders and made us touch foreheads. "Can I take some blood? I'm getting more and more thirsty by the second." He seemed to stare right through me.
"I...uh..." I looked away from his gaze. He pulled his head back a bit. He pulled me back onto the ground.
"Please?" He asked. I had admit, he looked pretty adorable.
"I-okay." I lifted my head up to give him some room. He came right up next to me and nuzzled into my neck.
Then he bit. It stung and felt so weird. I clutched into his shoulders. I felt the blood being sucked out of me. He kept going and going. After about a minute, I needed Ink to stop.
"Ink." I whined. "Please stop." He slowed and pulled away.
A bit of blood dropped down my exposed neck. Ink grabbed a nearby blanket and wrapped it around me. I started feeling weak again. I fell onto Ink. He began whispering sweet nothings into my ear, I liked that.
Ink POV:
Dream was relaxing against me. He did so well. Most people barely last 15 seconds before freaking out. Not only did Dream not freak out, he lasted a full minute. Blue returned with a bowl of noodles. I started feeding the tired little mortal. He gratefully accepted it. He was oddly adorable. After he'd finished, he fell asleep against me. I stood up and placed him in the couch. Then I realized something. I'd have to keep him here too.
~A Few Days Later~
Dream had mostly recovered by this point and I started understanding why him and Blue were friends. They were both quite excitable. I walked into the living room where Blue and Dream were talking.
"Hi Ink!" Dream said as I entered. I waved. "Do you think I'm well enough to go home soon?" He asked. It hit me straight in the non-existent soul.
"Well..." I started. Dream's expression fell. "You can't. Since I bit you, people are gonna question the marks and pressure the story out of you. If I'm found, I'll surely be hunted." I looked at the floor. "I barely escaped the last place I lived." I slowly looked back up at them. Dream looked shocked.
"B-but my brother! I promised him I'd come back!" He said. He was about to continue when I cut him off.
"If he's trustworthy, I could tell him when I head into town tonight." Dream looked away.
"I'm worried he would probably attack you after you tell him. Just give him a letter but don't explain where I am." He said. "I can handle this." I saw tears form in his eyes. I started feeling very bad. I'd grown a bit attached to the kind soul over the days he's been here.
I walked over and sat beside him. I then pulled him close and hugged him. He leaned down onto my chest. I looked over to Blue. He seemed to understand and walked away. I pulled Dream away and looked at him. 'Maybe this'll help.' I leaned closer and kissed him. He gave in and kissed back after a second. I swear I was in heaven for a moment. This was better than his blood, so much better. I let go after a minute or so. We looked into each other's eyes.
"I really am sorry. I just really don't want to leave. This castle is the nicest place I've ever lived." I explained a bit. Dream hugged me.
"It's okay. I think I get it. I'll write the letter to my brother in a few minutes." I didn't like that idea.
"No. We're cuddling for a while." I hugged Dream closer to me. He giggled.
"Okay. Thanks for the kiss. You're a really nice vampire." He commented. "I guess legends can be wrong."
"Depends on which one." I replied. "Love you."
"I love you too." Dream replied.
That was all I needed to hear right now.
