"Daksh, please...give me some more time. Mili won't trust me anymore. How am I supposed to lure her here? "Priyamvadha cried out in frustration.
"I don't know, and I don't care. Bring Mili home, or I will expose your crimes, "Daksh threatened over the phone.
"Daksh..".Priyamvadha shouted.
"Don't yell...I know your dirty secret...Don't you dare defy me, or I will let the world know how you bloody murdered your own sister for insurance money, "Daksh laughed.
"No...Daksh...don't...I will do something and bring Mili home soon, "Priyamvadha pleaded.
"That's good, Priyamvadha. Moreover, my boss has made his move and kept Aagney away from Mili. He has created problems in Aagney's Coorg plantations which will keep him busy for at least a week. So use your time wisely, "Daksh gave her an ultimatum before hanging up the phone.
Priyamvadha hung up the phone and closed her eyes in desperation. Soon a wicked smile spread over her lips, and she walked into Raman's room with determination to ruin Mili's life.
Mili's POV
"Let him come back...I will teach him a lesson. He said he would return in two days, and it's almost a week now. Baby...your dad doesn't love your mama, "I complained to my unborn child, caressing my tummy.
Dev had not returned from Coorg because some workers created more trouble, and he had to stay back to settle the issues. I missed him every single second that passed. And there was this growing anxiety inside me after the day I saw Daksh in the traffic. Dev assured me that Daksh wouldn't be seen anywhere near me, and I trusted him. Though Dev calls me every day, I still feared that something terrible would happen. Already I had hidden my pregnancy complications from Dev. I feared his reaction after he found out what I had done.
"Baby...Will he hate me when he knows what I have done to save you? But I'm sure he will be a wonderful dad to you. And tell your dad not to be angry with your mama. Mama loves him a teeny tiny bit more than you...that's why I chose you above me for him. I hope he forgives me for not letting him know of my complications. I wanted to tell him, but I was scared that my Dev would choose me instead of you...It's not because he doesn't love you...it's because he is afraid to lose me. I want you to love your dad more than me, even if I'm not there with you both. Take care of your dad for your mama, Will you?" I talked to my little peanut with tear-filled eyes.
"Dev...Come back soon...I want to spend the little time left with you and our baby, "I looked at Dev's picture on my phone.
I was busy looking at Dev's picture when the phone rang, and I attended it, seeing that it was ACP Gautam.
"Mili...listen to me ...I have got enough evidence. And your suspicions are correct. Your mom's death was not natural ...it was a well-planned murder," he said.
'G-Gautam...Dad...he doesn't know anything. He is just recovering from the accident. How will he bear all this? But I will not leave anyone who killed my mom," I sobbed.
"Mili...Don't worry...we will trap the culprit soon, and your safety is important too. So don't get emotional and do something stupid. Just wait for Dev to come back," He said and talked to me about something important before hanging up the phone.
I walked out to the hall when I saw mom and dad dressed up to go somewhere.
"Mili...the day after tomorrow is Avni's death anniversary. So we are going to our old house to clean it up for the ritual, "Dad told me with tear-filled eyes.
"My A-Avni died in that house, and I-I want the puja to be held there so that at least her soul will be at peace, "Mom sobbed, hugging me.
"Mom...don't cry ...Soon, her culprits will be punished. Dev will punish all of them, "I assured, hugging her back tightly.
"I know...We wanted to take you as well. But you are pregnant, and the house is dusty...We don't want you to be sick. I have made food for you and kept it in the kitchen. Eat on time...And don't forget the fruits and nuts. We will be back in the evening," she caressed my head, and both of them left.
I roamed inside the house to kill my time as it was a Sunday, and there was nothing else for me to do. I had my lunch in the afternoon, and dad and mom called me at least ten times to ensure I was okay. I was overwhelmed to see their love and care for me.
Soon it was around three in the afternoon when I heard my phone ringing. I looked at the caller ID and frowned before answering the call. It was none other than Priyamvadha. I hesitated to pick up the call, and the call was cut off. But again, it started ringing so I decided to answer it this time.
"What do you want?"I sneered at Priyamvadha.
"M-Mili...Raman fell and is unconscious now. There is no one at home now. Aakash is with his grandparents, and Aditi is gone to her friend's house. I don't know what to do. I have called the ambulance, but I'm scared. I know you hate me, but I'm not lying. Wait, I will switch to video call," she said desperately and switched to video call.
I was shocked to see dad on the floor, and he was bleeding. Priyamvadha was crying nonstop, and tears clouded my eyes seeing dad's condition.
"Don't cry ...I will come right now. Meanwhile, do something to stop dad from bleeding, "I told her before hanging up the phone and getting ready to go to dad as soon as possible.
Though I was upset seeing dad's condition, deep down, my mind told me that I could possibly be walking into a trap set by Priyamvadha. I nervously dialed Dev's number, but it was switched off. I tried dad and mom's numbers, but the call didn't go through either. The same happened with Gautam's number too. I couldn't stop myself from going to help my dad when he was in such a condition, so I sat down a while and sent messages to dad, mom, Dev, Gautam, and one more number before I took a cab to my dad's house.
When I reached there, Priyamvadha was at the front of the house, nervously looking outside. She ran towards me crying when she saw me.
"I knew you would come," she cried again.
"Where's dad?"I asked, ignoring her.
"Inside," she said, wiping off her tears which did not affect me.
I walked inside to see dad lying on the floor. I tried to wake him up, but he didn't open his eyes. Whatever happened between us didn't matter at that moment. He was still my dad, and tears filled my eyes again seeing him motionless on the floor. But looking around the room, I sensed something was wrong. I felt someone else's presence in that room.
"When will the ambulance arrive? I have to go back home. Mom and dad will be back soon, "I asked Priyamvadha, hiding my fear.
"What's the big hurry, sweetheart?" Priyamvadha asked me with a sugarcoated smile. Her demeanor changed from desperate to wicked in less than a second.
"You are not going to see your husband or his family anymore. I drugged your dad and threw him on the floor so that I could bring his precious daughter back here. Did you like my welcome party for you?" she taunted me.
"I'm not scared of you. I have informed mom, dad, Dev, and ACP Gautam that I'm coming here. They will find me and won't spare you, Priyamvadha, "I scoffed.
"Well done, Mili. You have become smart, "I heard someone clapping his hand, and soon Daksh appeared from behind the curtain with a sly grin.
"But, sweety...Those messages were not delivered because there was a jammer in your house. Not just in your home but also in Aagney's old house, I managed to block ACP's access to your number.
"Daksh...Dev will murder you if he knows you tried to hurt me, "I yelled at him.
"Dev...Dev...Dev...How will someone dead harm me?" he said, sending a chill down my spine.
"What? How dare you? What did you do, you bloody bastard?" I glared at him as tears rolled down my eyes.
"I had ordered my men in Coorg to murder him. By now, they would have finished him off," he smiled.
"No...My Dev is not dead. He will come for me, and he will not spare any of you, "I screamed.
"Now stop thinking of someone who is dead and start thinking of your new life with my boss," he said, walking towards me. I looked around and tried to run, but Priyamvadjha blocked my way.
"This is the last time you see your dad. Say your goodbye," she said before spraying something on my face. I cursed in my mind for being so weak...I couldn't save anyone...neither my dad nor my Dev. But my mind told me my Dev was safe somewhere and would come and save me. I could feel my body limp and Daksh holding me in his arms before I fell unconscious.
