Chapter 32: Awoken-man

"Make this end-man."
Smart-man plead.
"Just make all this end-man."

Smart-man finally stated his dearest wish.

"You can do-man it, can't you?"
Smart-man's eyes glimmered in the light of hope.

Of course.
If a narrator willed it, it could change their respective worlds.

Usually a narrator is unable to do so. The truth itself won't permit any meddling with the way things are supposed to go.

Smart-man glanced at the newly awoken narrator who was acting as if in a trance, staring into the distance.

Then he looked back at the formless cloud of blueish particles.

"You are different-man though, aren't you?"

Indeed.

I suggest a bargain.

Join the university.
Learn things about the world of men you never even dreamt could be possible, then once you awaken, take place by my side as my narrator.

Become the god of the new world.
Your world.

After you partake in this journey, only then will it end.
By your hand.

The man slowly walked in a circle round and round, not noticing that time was of the essence.

Serenity's castle was crumbling.

Smart-man perked up due to the narrator's words.

"What.. do you mean-man?"
Smart-man asked with a shaky voice.

"Idiot-man."
His thoughts wandered.

After thinking so hard that his face turned red, his tense body grew limp and his arms dangled in front of his arched body. His eyes lost their shimmer.

He decided the path to salvation would be to become the narrator of his world.

A god.

-

Basic-man collapsed to the ground, desperately trying to keep his organs inside his body.

"Coz'..."
He muttered as his blood soaked hands moved about.

With her eyes and mouth agape, the boss monster Serenity watched in horror as she saw a familiar face.

She had lost. This was the worst possible outcome.

"How could this have happened..."
She whimpered.

The headless monster crawled over the floor with all his might.
The wound that idiot-man had inflicted left its mark, and it sure was a big one.

After a few meters, he reached his boss.

With a tug on her robe, she snapped back to reality.

"Give... the order... your majesty... heheh.."
A giggle to lift the tension.

He would have smiled, had he still a head.

Serenity kneeled down to reach for his non-existent head and stroked his neck stump as one would stroke the back of a cat, gently.

"You can rest now...
you've done well... be with your family."

A tear escaped her watery eyes and hit him right in the stump.

"Thank you.."

His body immediately became limp and she laid him on to the floor.

As Serenity lifted herself from her kneeling position she breathed in as much air as she could.

And shouted.

"MY SOLDIERS!!! ENTER THE CASTLE AND VANQUISH THIS FOUL MAN!!!"

Her shout shook the room.
The walls crumbled.
The men were pushed away by the force of her big voice and were shook as well.

This was an order she would come to regret soon enough.

The sandwich cowered behind the boss monster.

It didn't know what was happening this whole time.
Even when its mother was so close to it, it didn't recognize her.

To the sandwich, that corpse was idiot-man no more.

However, a spark was cursing through her, as if something inside her wished to be awoken.

It was then that the monster soldiers stormed in and saw in horror:

The return of THAT man.

"Impossible... how come you are here?"
One of the soldiers asked.

Intelligent man grinned.

"Ah, its you youngling-men. What did I tell you back then, remember-man? I never lied-man, even once-man."
He said as he spread his arms.
"Join-man me and together-man we will reclaim this land-man for the monster-men."

The monsters were silent.
No one knew what to do.

The Intelligent-man became impatient.
"If you won't join-man me, then perish-man!"

He stretched out his arm and a dark cloud shot out of it.

It was slow.
No one knew what that cloud would do once it would have reached any of the soldiers so they just stood there.

"You idiots!!! DODGE!!!!"
Serenity shouted from afar.

Most of the young soldiers snapped back to reality and took a step to avoid getting in contact with the cloud.

But the youngest of them was frozen in fear.

He saw his massacred parents in his mind, from back in the olden times. The massacre that was meant to liberate the monster race.

The purge of the old.

Seeing a face from those olden times, Intelligent-man's face, he found himself frozen in fear.

"Hey man! Come here!"
One of the soldiers that stepped away reached out to grab the young one and pulled him away from the cloud.

He grabbed his arm and it was pulled off.

"...what..."

His arm separated from his body and what remained of the soldier was just a bloody pile of sludge.

A dark fluid traveled through the veins of the arm and burst out towards the soldier that tried to save the young one.

"Aahh!"
The fluid didn't reach far and only managed to come into contact with the arm that grabbed the arm.

"Aahh MY ARM!"
It fell clean off.

A pile of sludge that used to be an arm lies before him.

".... run..."
He realized.

"We have to run!!!"
The soldiers ran away from the cloud and the sludge as far as they could.

"Hahahaha! What's wrong my little child-men? Don't you like playing-man with me anymore?"

Intelligent-man laughed maniacally.

His face looked similar to smart-man's.
His voice was similar too.

Memories of their time together came back to idiot-man's mind as she was lying on the ground, too hurt to move.

It was a few moments before they arrived at that fateful bridge.

"Maybe we should go back-man.. sandwich-man is going to starve-man.."
She said.

"You named-man it sandwich-man so why not just eat-man it?"
He asked.

"What? No!"
She answered and held her sandwich tightly, but not too tight.

"Hahaha.."
He giggled.
"If we don't do-man this, maybe one day, the men will rise up and annihilate the monster-men, just as we did to that village-man."

Idiot-man looked at the ground, ashamed that she forgot why this journey was so important to them.

Smart-man stopped walking and turned around.
"When we get there-man, lets beat those monsters up-man, and save-man them!"

Idiot-man nodded with a smile, inspired by smart-man's words.

"They sure as mankorkratulopopoutalinumonpenkanganhabinbanbunplenplanplunkamin-man are not gonna listen to us if we don't."
He mumbled to himself and sighed, but she heard that anyway and in her mind, agreed.

Those monsters wouldn't listen to just any random man. Only random men that could prove that they can change fate itself.

Idiot-man tried to lift herself up from the rubble she was covered in since the time Serenity slammed her into that wall.

"Oh, a survivor?"
Intelligent-man noticed her, lying at his feet.

She was very close to him this whole time, but the rubble was hiding her presence.

Intelligent-man smiled.

"Oh, I heard-man about you. Smart-man described you in great detail."

Idiot-man looked at him and without a word threw her arm towards him to try and pierce through his body.

Intelligent-man swiftly stepped aside as if this attack was nothing.
An attack that not too long ago took the life of one of the monster generals, the headless one.

He grabbed her by the neck.

What will you do, smart-man?

He was debating with himself if he should just run out to get her, to save her.

Or if he should follow my plan and become the narrator of the new world.

Intelligent-man pierced a whole in her stomach similarly to the one basic-man had, who has now collapsed from blood loss, still hanging on a thin line to life, mumbling the word "coz'" to himself.

Smart-man knew he couldn't let that happen.

This time though, Intelligent-man held his arm inside her body to not let her bleed out just yet.

Smart-man just stood there, mouth agape.

It was at this moment that he knew, he lost all his reasoning.

Without a second thought he ran out of my realm, towards the teleportation tubes.

Meanwhile in a cave.

Smart-man's mother was done healing herself.

"Ugh.. I did as you asked, son-man. I freed-man those basic-men... well.. men unite.. or something-man."

The cave illuminated, in a flash.

She found herself wearing her normal clothes again as the costume disappears every time one teleported back to the university between realities.

She smiles.
The relief of being freed from the tight clothes wouldn't last long.

Her son was running towards her, but he didn't see her.

All he could see was idiot-man's second death.

He knew in his mind that he was about to try and save a corpse. A corpse that attacked him and trapped him in the void not too long ago.

But that didn't matter.

He had to get to her.

Smart-man swiftly rested his back at the glass-like material the teleportation tube is made out of and shouted.

"MEN UNITE!"

His body distorted and became more and more translucent.

This happened within the span of less than 1 second.

This was the normal procedure of teleporting, but it was the first time that his mother saw someone else teleporting using the teleportation tube.

With the costumes, teleporting is somehow instant.

This was because it was easier to no-clip into the university between realities, but harder to no-clip out of it, so it took some time.

No-clipping is the act of traversing the boundaries of dimensions, by the way.

In the span that took less than one second, smart-man's mother reached out to him.

"Son-man!"
It was then that he knew that she was there.

Suddenly they both teleported away, except for her left arm and both her legs, in a flash.
