Daily Bible Verse 1st August 2022
Today, our Bible verse is Proverbs 19:16
Whoever keeps commandments, keeps their life but whoever shows contempt for their ways will die.
God sent us 10 commandments to follow. For those unfamiliar, they are:
1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
2. You shall make no idols.
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
4. Keep the Sabbath day holy.
5. Honor your father and your mother.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10. You shall not covet. (Cover means to crave, desire or to die for)
In this verse, it tells us how important the commandments are and how compulsory it is for us to listen to them and keep them. They are quite literally, a matter of life or death. If we keep these commandments, we will be able to have a life with God so long as we have accepted Him into our lives and believe that Jesus died for our sins. If we do not keep these commandments, we will not be able to live with God forever in Heaven.
