franziska honestly didn't know what to expect when she arrived at phoenix's apartment to apologize, to admit her wrong-doings was one thing, but admitting that she disgraced her father was something she thought she never had to do
growing up, she was taught to be obedient, to listen to her father, and that her father was always right about everything, to take after him and honour the von-karma name, to be perfect and number one at everything, no matter what
she was there when she saw miles getting abused by her father, she could even hear the screams of pain miles would let out whenever he would hit him too hard and beg for him to stop, she was their when her father found out that miles was gay, and had punished him severely for it, she was their when she had heard miles crying in the middle of the night, begging and wishing just to go home, and to be with his own father, she was their when she saw miles using makeup to hide the bruises so he would go to work without being questioned, she was their when Manfred had humiliated him by calling him worthless right in his face, she was their for everything
she was never hit like miles, but she was abused by him as well, constantly being told to act more like miles, being neglected in favour of miles, hell, he didn't even show up to her first big debut in court, and that crushed her badly, her biggest role model didn't give a single damn about her
for the longest time she was envious of miles, to her, he got all the attention, all the spotlight, everything, while she was in his shadow, constantly cast aside in favour of miles, it caused some animosity between them growing up, she'd remember arguing with miles, saying how lucky he was to always have her father show him all the attention, sometimes after these arguments, he would cry and just walk away, and she would always think she had won those times, she created a whole rivalry in her head, thinking miles was her competition
after manfred was found guilty of killing gregory edgeworth, franziska felt as though her whole life was destroyed, not to mention, not too long after that, miles disappeared for a whole year, she was alone and angry, ...and she wrongfully took her anger out on phoenix wright, the man who destroyed the van karma name and killed miles edgeworth.., she would become better then her father, she would beat phoenix wright
she hit him with her whip multiple times, and blamed everything on him, as if he was the reason for all her problems, it wasn't until she saw the news about the re-trial of AL-9, she realized how wrong she was
the re-trial of AL-9 brought many things into the light for her, she realized that miles and she were abused growing up and that all the things her father did were not normal or okay, and that she was her father's enabler
it took her a long time to reflect on her actions and to realize she was wrong, when she had seen the re-trial, she had called miles, and first, it started off normal, then she started to uncontrollably sob, which made miles freak the fuck out and repeatedly ask what had happened and if she was okay, she then went on and on about how sorry she was for not being there for miles, for supporting manfred for all the times he abused him, and how she enabled the abuse, and how she had whipped phoenix and hurt him in court, and how she blamed everything on him, and just kept on going, to the point where miles, who was also crying, to cut her off mid way and say it was okay and that she was only a child led to believe that it was normal what they had experienced
after both of them calmed down, she asked if it was okay for her to come and apologize to phoenix face-to-face for her wrongdoings, he agreed and give her the address, she had flown all the way from Germany back to japaniflornia, apologized, surprised that he had forgiven her and apologized to her for his wrongdoings
now she was staying in a beautiful apartment with her little brother, phoenix, maya and pearl, and with the occasional visits from larry and gumshoe
franziska never expected phoenix to be so fun to be around, they both had a lot in common, and was incredibly impressed by his love for literature, along with his ability to fluently speak, write and read in 6 languages, along with having musical hobbies, with playing both he gituar and piano, but she had never expected to find pleasant company in his little sister, maya fey
'do you play at a professional level?'
she asked, examining the piano, he nodded
'i self thought myself both at a young age to escape all the abuse, now i professionally play both whenever i feel like it'
maya giggled as she came around the corner
'he can also sing'
Franziska didn't miss the panic rising in his eyes along with the redness on his cheeks starting to show
'n-no i can't!!'
he cried out all flustered, maya, however, shook her head
'he says ie can't but he can!!, I'm telling you he can, he sings me and pearly lullabies whenever we can't sleep'
'maya!!'
he cried out embarrassed, franziska grinned, she saw from the corner of her eyes miles laughing along
'nick!!, stop being so shy about it!!, I'm telling you he's amazing, especially with Christmas songs'
'is that so, perhaps you should sing something for us phoenix wright'
she teased, he glared at her, but the blushing in his cheeks made it very hard for him to be intimidating, he flipped her off before walking off, properly to go cool off his blushing
'you know, sometimes i forget how shy nick can be'
'is that so?'
'nick is pretty introverted and shy, he's the type of guy to just awkwardly stand in the corner of the room'
'funny how you mention that, miles edgeworth is the exact same'
'wha-HEY?!!'
miles cried out, his grinning now turned into a flustered frown, he huffed as he crossed his arms, walking off as well outside of the apartment, leaving the two girls alone to laugh with one-another
during her time at phoenix's apartment, she and may bonded quite a lot, though franziska wasn't a very big fan of the steel samurai show, she continued to watch it for the sake of supporting maya's excitement and to watch her little brother try and not fan-boy over it so much
franziska never expected to like someone like maya, someone so opposite of her, maya was cheerful, youthful, a women-child, reckless, and a bit irresponsible, but she was caring, sweet, optimistic and supportive, she wasn't perfect, but she was extraordinary in Franziska's eyes
while phoenix and maya were out running a few errands together, miles and franzisak stayed behind and enjoyed each other's companies
'so, are you planning on doing anything about this issue?'
he suddenly asked, franziska looked up at him
'what issue would that be exactly?'
'why, your feelings for maya of course'
he smirked as he saw the cheeks radiating on his sister's face, and the expression started to form, a mix of embarrassment, anger and shock all in one
'W-WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!!'
she demanded, crossing her arms, if only she had her whip, miles simply shrug, smirking
'i've seen how you two interact with one another, it's quite obvious'
franziska huffed, crossing her arms, the nerve of him, as if it wasn't painfully obvious that he had the hugest crush on phoenix wright, after he was done teasing, his expression softened a bit
'..their's nothing wrong with having attraction towards the same gender as yourself franziska'
'..i-i know that, ..i-i'm slowly accepting that part of myself, ..i-it's just, ..mrs maya fey is a very opposite to me, ..not to mention, ...i had whipped her brother on occasion, i doubt she was any attraction towards me'
miles simply looked at her
'..you'd be surprised at how willing mrs fey is willing to be at times'
'..i suppose'
she said, both of their heads turned to the sound of the door opening, with phoenix holding grocery bags and maya holding a burger in her hand
'hey, where back!'
she suddenly walked up to Franziska and have her a bag
'..i thought maybe you would like it'
she said with a little smile, blusing a tint of red, fraznsika looked at her for a moment before she took the bag and saw the burger with a side of fries inside, she took it out and unwrapped it, maya gently clancged to two together and took a bite, franziska followed suite
it wasn't something she was used to, she usually made her own meals, never really eating out, but to her surprise, it was quite tasty, maya grinned at her expression
'it's pretty good huh?'
'..it's not something i usually eat, but it is quite tasteful, unhealthy though'
maya scoffed
'it's healthy for the soul, hey nick what are we having for dinner?!'
she said, running up to him, franziska watched, seeing maya getting all excited over tonight's dinner, which was a veggie spicy pasta, made her heart warm up on the inside, ...seeing maya happy, ..made her happy
