The banquet hall that the ball was held at was beautiful and was full of elegance with their chandeliers and the fancy paintings hung up in the hallways. Which was far as fuck. It was as if I'm finding a stairway to find Heaven.

That waitress lied to me I swear. She told me it was by the south-west exit from the ball room and it would be a short walk down to the right.

...Okay my ass short walk...

Whatever I hadn't really wanted to go to the washroom anyways, I just want to be anywhere but near Nick. I took a step out into the yard where there was a trail to a huge water fountain that was the centrepiece of the garden.

The grass was green as ever, despite how dark it was. If you walk further down the fountain there will be a gazebo where wedding ceremonies are normally held.

The first time I've been to this banquet was in elementary when Aunt Julie was getting married. Second time was the year after for Aunt Julie's second wedding. I think that was her longest marriage.

Because four years after when I got to first year of middle school, we were invited to her third wedding. I think she just gave up now, those invitations stopped mailing to our house, instead we received postcards from her.

I guess its a good idea to not get married. After seeing how many times she got married, divorce, married again and have this cycle play a dozen times, I would give up.

Life was so much more simpler as kids. When did things like love, marriage, divorces, break ups et cetra become the most vital things to us? When did we arrive to la la land?

The whole cycle of love is complete bullshit to me. Good for you Aunt Julie to not come back to our world of madness. Single life is the bomb.

Creek.

I turn around from the squeak sound from the door. I turned away from him and gave my attention to the garden.

"What do you want? Don't you have a girlfriend to get back to?" I asked, keeping a distance from him.

He leans on the fence, gazing out to the garden like me, "Girlfriend? She's only my business partner and I take her to these events just to socialize."

I jerked my head from the garden and looked at him, "Not according to Demi."

"Demi's gotten prettier," Joe comments with a smile, turning to me, "Looks like somebody still got a crush on me."

"If she did, I'd pity her." I lied, because I knew Demi would not reject Joe, she is more vulnerable than me.

A breeze of summer wind blew past us, having the tree branches dancing with its pace. I shivered a little, and a-a-achoo.

"Looks like I'm going to pity you more," Joe chuckles, and goes to open the door, "Let's get inside, the party is almost over."

I nodded, and followed him in. We walked back the long ass hallway in silence, and entered the lit up ballroom. Most of the elderlies sat down and chatted as businessman, lawyers and others were standing around to socialize. As for people in my age group were either dancing, or sneaked out.

I was about to walk away to find Demi, until Joe grabbed onto my elbow.

"May I ask you for a dance?" He pulled his hand out, just in time, as if, one of my ultimate favourite song played, "C'mon Falling Slowly is playing, and we all knew this was your favourite song in high school."

I chuckled, followed him to the dance floor as many other people are also dancing in pairs. The only thing I feel bad about is if Demi would be hurt seeing us dance.

But I'll explain it to her.

But she understands, she knew that as far as Joe and I can get are friends. We are just like siblings back then and nothing will change.

As we got to the dance floor, Joe held me by the waist with one hand and the other held my hand. Other couples came up after, my sister and Adam danced next to us. I'm surprised they didn't have to watch their kids.

I glanced at our table and saw the kids playing with the Wilbert's children.

Joe tilts his head over and covers my view making a silly face, I couldn't help but giggle.

"What are you doing?" I laughed.

"Stop looking around and dance in peace will you," he teases, holding my chin and turning my face to him.

"Sorry I never took ball room dancing," I joked back, slight bit amused.

He gives an enthusiastic gapsp, "Well my lady let me teach you how to daunce."

I laughed at his failed British accent, suddenly spins me out to twirl and brings me back in.

"Looks like you know how to ball room dance," I complimented.

"Well you know.." he says with a cheeky smile, and surprised me again with a dip.

I screeched, grabbing his shoulders for my life, "Don't do that!" I laughed again, then returning to our original position.

He laughed too this time and stared off into the distance. I did the same and tried to enjoy the music.

From a far I see his business partner, Blanda, I think that was her name... She was dancing sweetly with a handsome young man with a tint of blond hair and hazy brown eyes. They laughed and kissed a bit. I admired that love, although I proudly said I'd be happy single.

But at least Joe wasn't lying. So I'm going to assume he is still single...

I looked a little further and see Nick dancing with Olivia, hate to say it but they looked cute too. Olivia was wearing a very beautiful sky blue gown with a lot of sparkles and jewels on it.

Well, I guess it makes sense. She was Miss Universe.

I rolled my eyes and was about to turn away. Until I notice Nick's expression, he looked a bit preoccupied. And as they turned around I see what or who kept him preoccupied.
