No words needed to be exchanged when Jessica got off the train and ran into her brothers arms. The two older siblings held onto each other tightly and it felt as though the Miller siblings were the only people in the large crowd. Jacob Miller held onto his sister like never before, worried that if he let go, she'd disappear into thin air. He had made it his mission, his job, after their parents had died that he would keep her safe and when he had to watch her fight for her life in the arena, he felt as though he had failed her. But seeing her standing there in front of him, he knew she didn't need his protection anymore, she was more than capable. Though, he was still her rock and would still be there every step of the way, he would be whatever she needed him to be, whether she needed a shoulder to lean or cry on, or a person to talk to, he'd be there.
She could feel a pair of smaller arms wrapped around her waist, the head of the small person resting against her thigh. She pulled away from her older brother as he watched her, with a smile on his face, and she crouched down next to the young boy.
"Hey little man, how was your birthday?"
"It was okay, Jakie tried to make cookies but he burnt them," the little boy grins childishly.
"Dude! You totally ratted me out. I will get you back for that, you watch out," Jacob jokes, mocking offence.
She had missed this. The games had taught her just how important the little things like their sibling banter were. She would do anything for the two boys bickering one front of her as well as the boy approaching from behind, though she didn't know it yet.
"You two must be the brothers we've heard so much about!" Elaine exclaims.
She stands up, taking Kylo's hand in hers as Jacobs wraps an arm round her shoulders like he always had, "Jake, Kylo, these are my friends, and team: Elaine, as you know, Mags and Finnick, my mentors, and Brayden and Valeria, the ones who make me look presentable at 7 in the morning," she jokes, "guys, these are my brothers Jacob and Kylo."
Kylo grins widely at them, not quite having a full understanding of them but knowing they helped make it possible for his sister to be there with him. Her team smile politely and fondly at her family and Jacob gives them all a grateful smile, he will always be grateful to them as they brought his best friend back to him. They exchanged quick greetings and small talk before Elaine spoke up.
"It was a pleasure to meet you both but we must be going, we'll be back in a month to collect you for the tour," she passes the keys to Finnick, "show them their new house in the Victors Village. You're gonna love it. And don't worry, it's been furnished and all your belongings have been transferred. See you soon." And with a smile, Elaine turns and leaves, heading back to the train.
She hugs Valeria goodbye before hugging Brayden, "see you soon girlie, enjoy your break whilst you can okay?" The brunette nods at her designer before they too leave.
"Ladies first," Finnick acts like a gentlemen as Jessica rolled her eyes and walked off, her younger brother still holding onto her like she was the air in which he needed to breathe.
Her older brother Jacob, who had been watching the two interact, smiled to himself. It seems he knows his sister better than she knows herself.
He walked besides Mags as they talked about the pair silently, through sign language. It seemed she had also noticed the interactions shared between the two teens.
When they got to the house, she passed the key to Jacob. As the two boys went inside, Jessica turned to face Finnick.
"I'll let you settle in, see you around, Princess."
She rolls her eyes at him, "goodbye Fishface." She send Mags a smile, "bye Mags."
Finnick left to walk Mags home before going back to his house as Jessica went inside, walking around her new home.
The walls were all beige with white crown mouldings, there were paintings here and there decorating the walls as well as the photo frames from their old house, filled with family pictures. The house was clean with new furniture, expressing the riches of a Victor.
Her room was an en-suite and had the same beige walls with white mouldings and a large king sized bed, with far too many pillows and soft blankets. There was a soft white rug on the wooden floor panels and her bathroom was pristine white with the exception of the mirror (which had a beige edge and was lined with lights) and the beige tiles, with a matching white bathroom rug.
She went downstairs and baked the cookies with her brother, just like she promised she would.
AN: I think there will be two more chapters in District 4, one where Finnick will make an appearance and he and Jessica will have a cute moment, then a visit from our 'fave' guy snow
