I watched the women around me adorned in their finest jewels and perfumes dancing all around the dance floor.
some looked at me longingly while others' eyes were filled with sadness looking for another royal family member to seduce in my place
I tried to focus on other things but my eyes continuously searched the crowd for her

he looked nervous

I looked down at him my eyes full of confusion
"T-They have been driving out all the rats and keeping the city pure like you've commanded sir" his already nervous body seemed to tremble underneath my glare
I stepped past him and moved towards the king
he was surrounded by his friends, who continuously showered him with compliments and followed him wherever he went
I moved through the crowd and sent straight to my father
he spoke for a while but his now nervous friends forced him to talk to me
" Prince Kai, are you enjoying your engagement celebration?"
he smile and extended his hand to this extravagant party
hundreds of people danced and swayed to the music
hundreds of servers walked around with platers of the most expensive wines and elaborate snacks
I slowly brought my eyes back to my father
"Speaking of this beautiful party where's that fiancé of yours" he questioned
the party had been in full swing for hours and she was nowhere to be seen
I felt a bit of worry rise up in me
maybe she ran
haikem might have gotten through to her
I shook those thoughts from my head to focus on the matter at hand
" did you send a message to the eaters front in my name?" I questioned
his eyes darkened
with one hand raise his friends scattered leaving him and me alone

"It prince Kai, and I am the army general, do not make commands in my name"
"I am the king I do what I want" his voice boomed through the crowd
all their heads turned in my directions staring in silence
they quickly continues doing what there were doing leaving me alone with the kings once again
" those rats walked through my kingdom liked they own it"
" they have been thrown out by the rebels they had nowhere else to stay" I questioned
" that's not our problem" he snapped
" We have the resources"
"it's not our responsibility"
"It's not your problem, this is something for me to deal with"
His eyes darkened as he took a step toward me
" ever since that rat had come here you've been bold prince kai"
his voice was covered in venom and content. he wanted her gone and I knew it
she killed his number one killer and for the first time I pose a threat to his power
a marriage with a being far more powerful than any of us could imagine
and she was also my biggest weakness and he knew it
I couldn't let him know I was scared
she isn't my biggest weakness but my biggest asset
" my fiancé isn't something your should fear, she a leader in your army and the future queen of your kingdom, your fate will be in her hands so I suggest you watch your mouth king"
I don't know what came over me, but no one will speak about her in that tone
within seconds I was surrounded by my father's soldiers and I felt cold fingers around my neck
"I would suggest that you watch your mouth"
I could feel fire rising in my fingertips but I would be executed if I tried to harm or kill the current king
"Stop Stop" a familiar voice filled my ears
I looked up and saw my mother running towards us
She wore a beautiful navy blue dress and her hair had been pulled up into a tight bun
She ran into one of his guards
"Let my son go!" she yelled pounding on the backs of one of his guards
"Please !" I listened to her pleas as his grip tightened around my neck
"Someone needs to teach this boy a lesson," he said reaching into his pocket with his free hand
He pulls out a blade and raises it to my face
" how about we add a scar to the bloody prince's collection
He slowly brought the blade against my cheek and pressed it into my flesh
I winced at the pain
I waited for my father to go farther
But nothing happed
When I finally willed myself to open my eyes my father's head was turned to his guard's whose bodies were frozen in odd positions as well
Eventually, I heard groans from these men
I reached up and pulled my father's hands from my neck and his skin was cold to the touch
Oddly frozen
I turned and touched one of the other guards and it was the same things
Their body temperatures had dropped so drastically that the sweat that was once on their bodies had become frozen
The queen had a hand covering her mouth hiding a gasp or maybe it was a smirk
Suddenly the sound of the royal trumpet sounded off
Everyone's eyes moved towards the entrance of the field adorned in beautiful white roses and pink ribbons
There she was
Dressed in a floor-length red gown. Her silver hair that was usually covered in cloth or pulled tight in a braid was now out surrounding her face in beautiful curls.
She moved towards me
I was on the other side of the field in the royal section
She didn't make eye contact with anyone else as they all stares at her in disbelief
Maybe amazed at her beauty or afraid of the power they heard she had
The closer she got the more beautiful I realized she looked all her scars were covered in gold paint that made her dark skin almost look like it was glowing
As she finally made her way up to the guards simply with her touch they fell to the floor
They were gasping their now dark and black fingers
I looked down at them and realized their skin had been frost-bitten.
She had given these men frostbite
One by one each man fell to the floor screaming and cradling their hands
Although I had been released from the king's grip I have frozen my eyes following her every move
As the last guard fell revealing the king's position
The crowd gasped at what luna had done
Her eyes fell on mine and I had realized what had happened
Her eyes glowed silver like they had when I had just met her
She was angry
She took her eyes off me and walked towards the king
I found myself moving out of her way but she reached out and grabbed my hand
She was shaking
She was scared
While holding my hand she turned towards the king
"I watched you smile as you sent a man who had murdered hundreds to kill me and friends but now you tremble with fear as I come near"
The king did nothing but look into her glowing eyes
"I know the law and I can not kill or harm you if I wish to live past today, but if you lay another finger on Kai you will see how little I truly care for my own life"
Her voice was dark and scary
She suddenly stopped shaking
The king fell to the floor and gripped his hand
But his flesh was not dark
She had avoided harming the king somehow
She turned towards me and I took in her presence as she took in mine
She raised her hand and wiped the blood from my cheek
The next thing you know she was hugging me
And I hugged her back
"Ladies and gentlemen I hope you enjoyed the performance" the queen voice suddenly filled our ears
"May I introduce your future Princess Luna!" the queen walked overtaking her hand and pulling her to the front of the royal area
Loud upbeat music began to play and people took to the dance floor showing their best moves to the princess
I took out a piece of cloth and quickly wiped the blood from my face
I looked to where my father lay, but he was gone
I looked up and in the distance, i saw him being carried away to the medical wing to check his injuries
I then felt a hand on my back
It was the queen
" Prince kai I need you to be careful"
"I know father has quite a temper and this matter will be dealt with soon mother"
"No not of your father"
"What"
" She loves you, and she will do whatever it takes to keep you safe"
I looked back at luna
She smiled with her friend heather as they watched the people dance and sing along to the music being played
"She would even lose her life for you Prince"
We stood together in silence for a bit
I realized I need to create a plan to keep her safe before it is too late
My enemies are all getting close
And so are the rebels
But worst of all
The king is angry
