Josh's POV
I got out of the uber and walked around the other side to open the door for Rhiannon. We stepped out onto the sidewalk and looked up at the tall apartment building.
"What floor are we potentially living on?" Rhiannon asked as she turned her attention to me,
"7th floor I think," I said as I looked at the listing on my phone
"I hope there is an elevator" she laughed
"There is, I made sure." I answered.
"Mr. Kiszka?" We heard and turned to see a man walking towards us from the apartment buildings lobby.
"That's me," I said as I stook out my hand to shake his.
"Perfect, lets go take a look at the apartment." He said as he held the door open for us to walk in. We got in the elevator and went to the correct floor. I was trying hard to contain my excitement as the doors opened. Rhiannon gave my hand a squeeze paired with a knowing look, she knew I was trying hard to be still. We stepped out of the elevator and walked towards the apartment door, the manager unlocked it and I quickly entered. The front door opened into a living space, across the room there was a kitchen island and a decent sized kitchen. It was an open floor plan which I liked.
"This place looks huge.." Rhiannon said quietly,
"3 bedroom, 2 bath." The manager said. She turned and looked at me surprised,
"Josh, are we going to be able to afford this?" She asked quietly, "Do we really need 3 bedrooms?"
"One for you, one for me, and one for the little one." I said giving her a smile, "And don't worry about the money."
"Josh I'm not letting you pay for this place by yourself." She said sternly,
"Alright, we can discuss that later babe. Lets just look at the rest of the apartment, shall we?" I said grabbing her hand and walking down the hall. The first bedroom on the right was the master, "This would be your room." I said
"What no, you should get the master." She said as she once again looked at me surprised,
"No, you are getting it because that way you have your own bathroom and have space for all your girly stuff" I said, making her laugh. We walked in the bathroom to see a big walk in shower and tub, The vanity had 2 sinks and lots of counter space.
"Fine." She said as she playfully rolled her eyes, "Theres no point in arguing with you at this point"
"Thats correct." I said as I pecked a quick kiss on her cheek. across the hall from her room was the room I would choose. It was almost as big as the master but it didn't have its own bathroom, which was fine. Next to my door was the second bathroom which was pretty simple with a tub, vanity and toilet. The door across from that was the 3rd bedroom, it was smaller than the first two but still sizeable. Rhiannon walked in and looked around,
"This would be the babies room?" She asked softly, as she looked out of the window that overlooked a small park,
"Mhm," I said as I walked up behind her, wrapping my arms around her, resting my chin on her shoulder. She reached up and gently scratched my scalp as she leaned her head against mine. I could vaguely see her smile through the reflection in the window. "So what do you think?" I whispered, my mouth then resting on her neck as I waited for her answer.
"I love it." She said,
"Do you really?" I asked excitedly as I pulled away and turned her to face me, She nodded with a big smile on her face,
"It's perfect." She said, I quickly picked her up and spun around as she giggled, "Josh!"
"I'm sorry! I'm just so excited!" I said as I put her down, I pulled her into a quick kiss. "So do we sign the lease?"
"Lets do it," she said confidently. I walked back into the kitchen where the manager was waiting and told him that we would take it, thanking him for giving us a chance to see it.
"I just need to know your move in date by tomorrow please." He said to me, I nodded and we headed to our hotel. We got room service and then while Rhiannon was in the shower I decided to call the bands manager. The day of our meeting they had mentioned that they were paying for the movers. I called to see when they were available. Rhiannon stepped out of the bathroom and walked over to the bed, scooting in close to me,
"What did they say about the movers?" she asked as she dried her hair with a towel,
"They said there are 2 possible dates for us to choose from to move." I said, neither were ideal.
"Ok, what are they?" She asked, wondering why I had paused,
"Well, one is Wednesday, and the other date is 2 months from now." I said as I bit the inside of my cheek,
"Wednesday is 2 days from now.." She said concerned,
"I know it's super soon, but if we wait for the later date that means we'd be long distance for a while" I said, feeling my face fall.
"I don't want that.." She said as she scooted closer to me,
"I don't want that either, but do you think we can pull off Wednesday?" I asked
"I mean, I can get someone to let the movers into my apartment in Cali, that way we only have to worry about your stuff in MI" She replied, "We can fly back tomorrow and the movers can come the next day." She shrugged, "I think we can make it work,"
"Are you sure, they need an answer like now if we choose Wednesday." I asked
"It's going to be stressful, but I think we can make it work" she replied,
"Alright, lets do it. I'll let them know." I said, I wanted to excited but I couldn't deny how nervous I was that everything would work out. I made the call and then took a deep breath as I hung up the phone. "This is really happening" I said as I looked to her. She nodded with a smile as she pulled the covers over us,
"Lets get some sleep, the next couple of days are going to be insane." She said as we started to fall asleep. And insane they were. We pulled off getting things packed and the movers had picked up our stuff. It was Thursday morning and me and Rhiannon had flown into Nashville and were sitting in our empty apartment as we waited for the moving trucks to arrive. We heard a knock at the door and we both nearly screamed with excitement as we hurried to open it. We opened the door and the movers started bringing in our furniture. Rhiannon stayed in her room, getting it unpacked and situated. I did the same with my room, occasionally helping the movers carry things. I had gone downstairs to see how much stuff was left to move in and when I got back to the apartment I laughed as I saw Rhiannon directing the movers where to put stuff in the living room.
"What?" She said when she heard me laugh.
"You have great leadership skills," I said smirking as I walked over to her,
"Thats just a nice way to say I'm bossy" She said as she scrunched up her nose, I threw my head back laughing. I placed a kiss on her forehead as I walked to my room to start situating things. I had gotten most of my clothes unpacked when I looked up and saw Rhiannon carrying a box, leaning back slightly, indicating to me that it was heavy,
"Hey, let me get that" I said as I quickly walked over and grabbed it, "You shouldn't be carrying heavy stuff like this."
"I'm fine Josh, it's not that heavy." She huffed as she crossed her arms
"You know babe, you're going to have to stop trying to do everything yourself." I said as I placed the box in the hallway.
"I know, but not yet." She said causing me to grin and shake my head.
"Just try and take it easy, it's been a busy couple of days." I said as I pulled her close and kissed her.
"Fine." she said in a faux annoyed tone. The rest of the day we spent unpacking. I looked out of the window to realize it was dark.
"Love, what would you like to do for dinner?" I asked, I turned the corner to see her sitting on the living room floor going through her records. She had tears in her eyes. "Are you ok?" I asked as I quickly crouched down beside her,
"Yeah," She said as she wiped her tear, it was then that I realized she had a small smile on her face, "This was one of my dad's favorite records."
"Why don't we listen to it?" I asked as she showed it to me, she nodded and remained on the floor as I put it on the record player. I saw her smile grow as the music started filling up the room. "Do you want to dance?" I asked as I put my hand down for her,
"I'm sorry but I really just want to sit down for a while" She said softly as I helped her up,
"Is everything ok?" I asked concerned, she did look exhausted.
"I just feel a little off, but I think I'm just tired, maybe hungry too." She replied as she leaned against me,
"How does ramen sound? It always makes you feel better and I saw a ramen place a couple blocks over." I suggested, "I'm sure they deliver."
"That sounds perfect," She said as she lowered herself to the couch. I nodded and looked in my phone to fine the place and order the food. While we waited for it to be delivered I decided to hook up the tv in the living room so we could watch a movie. Once the food was delivered we ate at the kitchen island.
"Oh, I almost forgot to tell you, I have a doctors appointment tomorrow. You know, in case you want to come" She added with a sly smile.
"For the baby?" I asked with my mouth half full, my eyes getting wide.
"I mean for me and the baby yes" She laughed,
"Will we get to see it?" I asked as I scooted closer to her,
"I think so, we should be able to see it and figure out how far along I am, but I've already done the math from when I took the antibiotics," she said "I'm close to 9 weeks I'd guess."
"So that means your due date will be close to Sloans?" I asked, she nodded. "It's going to be so fun raising our baby with Jake and Sloans little one." I smiled as I bit my bottom lip, I couldn't wait to be a dad. "I can't wait to see the little guy, or girl"
"You're parents were so excited to find out they were getting a grandchild, wait till they find out I'm pregnant too." She laughed,
"My mom is going to lose her mind." I smiled, we ate in silence for a while before Rhiannon spoke again,
"I can't believe this place is ours" She said as she looked around. There was still lots of unpacking to do but she was right, it was ours.
"Oh! That reminds me." I said quickly getting up and running to my suitcase, "I got you this" I said with a smile as I handed her the small bag.
"Josh, you didn't have to get me anything!" She said as she took it from me,
"Just open it" I said back sweetly, I watched her face as she dumped the small charm that was shaped like a key into her hand. A smile grew on her face as she looked to me, "For our first place together"
"Josh, I love it" She said as she leaned forward and kissed me, "Will you put it on for me?" She asked as she rested her foot on my thigh. She wore the anklet all the time, I don't think I had ever seen her take it off. It made me happy that she loved something I had gotten her so much. I watched her smile grow as I clasped it onto the chain next to the other charms. "Thank you babe" She said as she wrapped me in a hug.
"You're so welcome" I said with a smile "You want to watch a movie or are you too tired" I asked as I threw away our trash from dinner
"I think I can handle a movie, no promises I won't fall asleep though." She said, "Let me change into my pajamas first."
"That sounds like a good idea." I said, "Meet back in here in 5?" I said jokingly as she laughed softly before heading into her room. We both changed and then settled on the couch to watch some movie she had picked which wasn't awful. About halfway through the movie she abruptly, got up and walked quickly to the bathroom, I assumed she was probably nauseous.
"Josh!" I heard her yell, the tone of her voice sending a chill down my spine, I knew immediately that something was wrong. I quickly jumped up and ran to the bathroom, I felt my stomach drop as I saw Rhiannon's face, pale with a look of complete fear in her eyes. "We need to go to the hospital," She said in a shaky voice.
"What, why." I asked urgently as I got closer to her,
"I'm bleeding." she choked out as she started to cry,
