"What did you want to talk about?" You asked Rosé as you sipped on the drink she picked up for you on her way here to your house.
Her visit was expected but sudden.
She texted late last night saying she needed to come by this morning and talk with you about something important coming up and you couldn't help but be curious about what it might be.
"I want to ask you something." She said as she put her drink down on the table before brushing her painted black nails against her lap, wondering if you'd notice they were sweating slightly from her nerves.
"Okay. I'm listening."
She couldn't help but crack a small smile at your response.
It never fails to melt her heart when you say things like that, as you're one of the only people she truly trusts and knows you're always there to listen when she needs to talk.
"My family is having a banquet tomorrow and I want you to come... as my date."
"Oh." You chuckled nervously, setting your drink down on the table. "Rosie, that's so nice to ask but I don't know-"
"Please?" She scooted closer and placed her hand on your thigh, unaware that she was making your heart race at her touch. "Everyone that's coming has someone. My family adores you and I don't want to go without you."
Your heart continued to pound against your chest as she brushed her fingertips across your skin.
"Please be my date? It would mean so much to me."
"I'll think about it. Okay?"
She lowered her head a little, nodding wordlessly.
"I should be going. I have to help my parents set everything up." She sighed as she checked the time on her phone.
She stood up and grabbed her drink as she walked to the door, feeling your eyes on her every step of the way.
Before she walked out, she turned back to look at you. Biting at her lip, with a hopeful look in her eyes, she asked you, "You'll be there, right?"
"Probably." You said and she nodded before walking out the door.
You sighed and tangled your fingers in your hair before reaching for your phone to text your friends, asking them their opinions.
Although you know Rosie's parents love you, the rest of her family intimidates you a little.
They're all very rich and well-known and when you're around them, sometimes you feel as though you don't quite fit in.
That's the only thing holding you back from saying yes to the girl that you love.
After much consideration and talking with your friends, you decided you'd go.
Seeing that there wasn't much time left in the day, since it's nearing the evening because you've spent most of the day in your head, you got up and headed out to the store to try and find something to wear that would impress Rosie, spending the rest of the day going from shop to shop in search of the perfect thing to wear.
Before you knew it, the morning had arrived. You awoke with a text from Rosé.
"If you're going to come, it starts at five. I really hope to see you there."
You locked your phone with a sigh before getting out of bed to grab some breakfast and get ready for the day.
While you spent the last couple of hours getting ready before it began, Rosie showed up early.
She left her house early in the morning and finished helping her parents set everything up, wanting it to be as perfect as possible.
She was bored as soon as it began.
She felt lonely and spent some time on her phone, scrolling through her socials here and there.
Her time was mostly spent watching to see if you'd text her back. She spent some time staring at the message she'd sent you earlier that day, waiting to see if the text bubbles would appear if you were texting her back.
But she never saw them.
She watched the time. She watched it turn from five o'clock to five-thirty, and then to six.
She was about to text you when she suddenly heard the music overhead begin to play, some slow romantic song that she couldn't care less about now that she didn't get to dance to it with you.
"Hey, Rosie." Someone in her family said as they walked up to her, extending their hand out for her to take. "Can I have this dance?"
She went to take their hand before she pulled away, shaking her head.
"I'm sorry. I don't feel like dancing."
"Well, if you change your mind, slow songs will be going on for a while. We all feel bad that you're sitting here alone. If you want to dance, tell someone."
She just nodded her head wordlessly before reaching for the alcohol in the glass in front of her.
People kept coming up to her, wanting to take her by her hand and lead her out onto the dance floor to dance with her. But she just kept rejecting the offers.
Because as much as she wanted to dance with someone, the someone she wanted to dance with hadn't shown.
Or, at least, that's what she thought.
Because another person came up to her right after the last one left.
She didn't see their face right away, since she was busy drinking and wallowing in her sadness.
But the voice was familiar, immediately cheering her up.
"Can I have this dance?"
She lifted her head instantly over the sound of your voice. Her eyes lit up when they locked with yours, the biggest grin tugging at her kissable lips.
"I'm sorry I'm late. It took me a little longer to get ready and get here than I thought it would and I was a little nervous."
"It's okay!" She giggled as she stood up. "You made it. That's all that matters."
"C'mon then, pretty girl. Let's go dance."
She nodded happily and wrapped her fingers around yours as you walked onto the dance floor together, hand in hand.
"You look breathtaking." She said as you started to slowly sway together.
"Do you like it? When I went out yesterday, I tried to find something to impress you. But I didn't like any of the dresses. None of them was my style. So, I bought this suit instead."
"Impress me?" She chuckled. "Now why would you need to do that?" She asked as she kept her hands on your sides.
"I just really like you."
You know she feels the same. You've just never said the words, just as she hasn't.
It was obvious to everyone around you that you're crazy for each other.
You've known each other for so long now and your feelings for each other have been evident from the very first moment.
But, for some reason, confessing them to each other was a little more challenging.
She didn't say anything to you.
She just put her lips on yours to pull you in for your very first kiss together and the sweetest one you've ever shared before as you continued to sway to the romantic song playing.
"I'm crazy about you." She whispered, her sparling eyes locked with yours before she put her lips back on yours for another kiss. "And, by the way, I love this suit. You look hot, darling."
Your heart fluttered and the cutest giggle that Rosie ever heard fell from your lips as she kept you close, never wanting these moments to ever end as she swears that she's never been happier in all of her life.
