Nandini looked down at Manik in her arms and smiled dropping a kiss on his head.
They had lay down after a while of him breaking down and he fell asleep being tired.
Nandini noticed the position they were laying and blushed. Manik had his arms around her as he rested his head on her chest just below her chin.
She kept running her hand through his hair as she thought over everything he said.
A tear rolled down her eyes as she thought of her idol being no more. Throughout these years she have kept a hope for her being there somewhere and to meet her.
She looks down at Manik and kissed his head again thinking about the struggles he faced in his life from such a young age and still keeps on fighting.
He witnessed his mother, his only support system die and give up infront of him. She can't imagine the trauma he went through. All this while she kept crying over her past life and a bad relationship, sure it was difficult growing up without her parents around but she had her relatives for some years no matter how badly they treated her they were still family and here he had been dealing with so much worse but kept supporting her without a word.
She couldn't help but thank the heavens for sending him in her life.
"I love you.",She whispered and took a deep breath as she realised what she just said before a smile came up on her face as the realization hits her . The first time she had confessed her love on her birthday she thought it was more of a spur of the moment and when Manik didn't say anything she went along with it but now she knows it was her sub conscious that already knew about her being in love with him and she is realising it just now.
A shy smile comes up on her face as she kissed his head again and kept her chin there holding him close.
She didn't want to confess like last time abruptly. She was going to take her time and give him some space before confessing her love to him. This time she wants him to actually say it back when she confesses.
Nandini closed her eyes after a while with a smile on her face.
Manik kept his breathing still for a while before opening his eyes slowly not to disturb her.
He felt her hands caress his hair lightly as he recalled the words she whispered some time back. Before he was sure to brush it up as not being serious but he knew now she was definitely in love with him.
He felt warm spread in his heart as he realised how heavy those three words are. Unknowingly a small smile formed on his lips and he couldn't help but think of his answer.
He shifted a little and Nandini was quick to look down at him. She smiled when they made eye contact and he knew what his answer was.
"Hey",Nandini whispered moving her hand down his cheeks caressing them. His eyes closed as he relaxed under her touch.
"Hey",Manik said opening his eyes looking at her with a smile before pecking her lips.
Her eyes widen at his gesture and he smiled laying down on her side and pulling her above him.
"Thank you.",Manik whispered and she nodded staring at him.
"What is the time?",Manik asked her and she looked at her phone.
"4:15. Do you want to go freshen up? We can go out and watch the sunset. Have some food and look around.",Nandini asked him softly and he nodded.
" Where are others?",He asked curiously.
" They are nearby looking around at the small stores and shopping. We can join them.",Nandini said him and he nodded as they sat up.
"You go first.",Nandini said to him and he looked at her first to confirm before nodding.
"I feel like we should have just shared the same room.",Manik said as he got down from the bed and she looked at him surprised.
"You will be fine with it?",She asked and he smiled putting his palms on her either side as he leaned down closer to her.
"What do you think? You sleep with me in my room. I come to shower in yours. We are together the rest of the time. Isn't it more convenient that way.",Manik said staring at her in the eye and she bite her lips looking down making him smile.
Manik leaned closer brushing his nose with her. She looked up and was met with a pair of lips on hers. Her eyes widen more in surprise before she closed them and let him kiss her.
He put his knee on the bed as he moved closer and put his palm on the back of her head to hold her in place.
He felt her breathless and smiled pulling back.
"Just think of how much fun it would have been.",He whispered as he dropped kisses down her jaw making her gasp in surprise seeing him flirt.
"I will go take a shower first.",He said pulling back completely as he walked to the washroom and Nandini sighed as she put her palm against her fast beating heart to calm it down.
Her phone rings and she picks it up shaking a little thinking about what just happened.
"He..llo...Hello",She said clearing her throat to compose herself.
"Is it a good time?",Cabir asked her and she nodded thinking about the message she dropped him earlier to not disturb them.
"Yeah. It is. We were thinking to join you guys in some time.",Nandini said relaxing a little.
"Okay nice. We were looking around and got to know of a festival going on nearby at a village. It looked cool and we were thinking to check it out. Meet us by 6 near the sunset point. We will leave from there.",Cabir told her and she nodded thinking about it.
"Okay will see you there.",Nandini said excited a little as she walked to the washroom and knocked.
"Manik",Nandini called for him and heard the shower close.
"It's open.",He said and she blushed red thinking about it.
"Wh..What?",She asked shuttering.
"If you want to come inside. It's open.",He said with a smirk and she goes more red if possible.
"Wha..What do you even me..mean? Shut up.",Nandini said blushing as she put her palms over her cheek.
Manik chuckles thinking about her reaction.
"Get ready fast. Cabir called. We are going somewhere. I will prepare some light food till you are done.",She said composing herself and left immediately after hearing a yes from him.
Nandini looked at the groceries in the fridge and thought of what to cook.
She decides to go for pasta and garlic bread and smiled to herself as she got started with the vegetables.
She worked on making the pasta first and then started with the garlic bread.
She was spreading the butter mixture on the bread when she felt a hand snake around her and gasped as she gets enclosed in a hug.
"Your hands are cold.",She murmured as she continued with her work trying to not show how much she was affected by his actions.
He smiled as he put his head on her shoulders.
"And your hair is wet.",She said feeling the droplets of water on her neck.
He made her turn in his arms and she looked up at him wondering the sudden change in his mood. He has been behaving different since he woke up after his breakdown.
" I will finish things here. Go get ready.",Manik said pushing her hair behind her ear and she looked up at him still wondering what changed.
"Okay.",She said with a small smile and Manik nodded moving forward dropping a kiss on her cheeks.
"I picked your dress. ",Manik said pulling back and she nodded as she walked in the direction of her room.
She looked at the dress he picked and smiled seeing it was a black high waisted jeans with a grey turtle neck knitted sweater.
She quickly got freshened up and changed picking up her purse and shoes as she walked down the stairs. She could smell the garlic and rushed down only to clutch her stomach as she reached the dining table.
"You okay?",Manik asked as he heard her groan.
"Fine fine.",She muttered taking a seat on the dining table as she put one hand on her stomach.
Manik dropped a heat bag on her side as he took her right hand in his and pressed some pressure points on her palm.
"Do you want to stay back?",Manik asked her and she nods in No.
"It's fine. Give me 5 minutes. It's just bad for a couple of minutes and then I am good like it never happened.",Nandini said as she put the heat bag on her stomach.
Manik nodded before serving food on two plates as he forwarded her to eat from his hands.
She smiled opening her mouth and appreciated her own cooking.
He chuckled before taking a bite himself and nodded.
They ate silently and Manik put the plates on the sink before turning to her.
" You ready to go?",He asked and she nodded.
He picked up their coats and helped her wear it as they walked out.
The driver opened the door for them and they got in as Nandini told him the address.
Manik was typing something in his phone and Nandini watched his forehead stressed.
She moved closer to his side and raised her eyebrows.
"Don't worry. It's fine.",He said wrapping one hand around her.
"Tell me.",She asked suspicious.
"I have a team of people who handles everything that comes up about her. It's been a while and it has still not come down. It's blowing up.",Manik said her his worries as he put his phone down.
Nandini looked at him a little guilty.
" I am sorry. I am responsible for this. If I hadn't said her name then it wouldn't have happened.",Nandini apologized and he nodded in no holding her closer.
" It's fine. It's not your fault. I will handle this. I will ask Ishaan to help if I can't. His PR team is better than mine and he have connections with media.",Manik assured her and she looked at him a little worried.
" Ishaan knows?",She asked surprised.
" He doesn't know about her being my mother but it's almost known to everyone that I was adopted by Malhotra groups. People don't talk openly about it anymore but with a few internet search you can know everything. Nobody knows about my past family or her being my mother except a few.",Manik said her and she nodded processing the new information.
" You okay to tell them about it?",Nandini asked a little worried.
" It's fine. I won't explain much. They must be wondering about it and I can't keep lying and hiding. Now that you know I feel much relaxed about it. Don't worry.",Manik said kissing her head and she nodded trusting him.
They reached the sunset point and shared a smile at the view walking closer till the edge.

They heard voices and turned around to hear a click and see their friends with Cabir holding the camera.
They joined them and the six of them watched the sunset with a smile.
"Where are we going?",Manik asked them and Cabir smiled.
"It's a small drive. Let's go.",Cabir said playing with his key as they walked to the car.
The car was small for six people and they all shared a look as they didn't want to get another car.
"You drive. Navya can sit on my lap.",Cabir suggested as he raised the keys to throw at him.
"It's fine. Drive yourself.",Manik said looking at Nandini who raised her eyebrows at him.
Others hide a smile as they got inside the car.
Manik got in first after them and Nandini looked at him wondering where to sit.
He forwarded one hand to her and patted his lap making her eyes widen as she looked at her friends who were pretending not to see their interaction.
"We are getting late. Get in.",Manik said holding her hand and she sighed getting in as he closed the door and adjusted her on his legs.
She leaned on the door facing others and rested her head on his shoulder as he wrapped his hand around her.
Cabir let out a whistle before starting the car.
Nandini stared at Manik wondering what's different and what changed suddenly before sighing and putting her mind at rest.
"I was thinking we have two more days till we go back so why don't we go somewhere tomorrow. I heard there's snow a little further from here. We can go and spend some time there. ",Nandini suggested and Mukti grinned wide hearing her and snow.
" Or we can stay here and leave tomorrow late, stay the night at the place and explore around before leaving home from there only. ",Ishaan suggested and they all thought over it and nodded.
" Okay it's decided then. Nandini have you thought about what I suggested. If you agree I can get the papers ready and we can help you with sorting out the things you have here that you need or is to be donated and can leave for the nearby place when we are done tomorrow.",Cabir said looking at her from the rearview mirror.
Everyone looked at her curious.
"I didn't get to think about it. Will tell you by tonight. But you guys can help with packing the things anyway tomorrow.",Nandini said to him to which he nodded.
"What are you guys talking about?",Navya asked narrowing her eyes at Cabir.
Nandini felt Manik's eyes on her including Ishaan and Mukti.
"I offered her a proposal for her house if she's willing to sell.",Cabir said looking at Nandini who gave him a small smile.
"Wait wait. If that's the case. I have a better proposal than him. I loved the house. It's beautiful. I will take very good care of it. Between the two of us. I am sure you will choose me. I know I am your favorite. ",Ishaan said with a big smile turning to Nandini who just smiled at him.
" Shut up. ",Manik said slapping his head and he glared at him back.
"I don't want her to actually sell it to me. Honestly I want her to keep the house. She have problem taking care of the house and it being empty. So I offered her to rent it to me for our new project we are planning.",Cabir explained and Manik thought about it.
"The BnB one?",Manik asked and Cabir nodded.
"Ohh if that's the case then I won't mind if you choose him for this. I have heard of the plan. It's a great idea and you won't have to worry about anything.",Ishaan said to her and she nodded leaning to Manik who kisses her head in return.
"Okay fine. She said she will think about it. Now stop pressuring her. Navya put on some music. If they continue talking about business for one more second. I am going to read my new book out loud and I don't think any of you would appreciate it.",Mukti warned them making them chuckle as Navya started the music.
They reached the village and got out looking around.
The place was lit up with lights and had a small river flowing with a bridge connecting the two sides. There was a fireplace with people gathered around and small food stalls around.
"It looks beautiful.", Mukti said rubbing her arms as she looked around.
Navya nodded snuggling to Cabir's side as they started walking closer in pairs.
Mukti watched the two couple and smiled to herself.
Ishaan looked at her rubbing her palms and smiled grabbing her hand in his.
She looked up at him surprised.
He blew in her hands before putting it inside his pocket holding it in place with his.
"You need to stop wearing so light when you are cold so easily.",Ishaan said shaking his head as he walked looking ahead.
Mukti stared at her hand in his inside his pocket and a small blush graze her cheeks as they walked ahead.
They stopped at some of the stalls looking at the items displayed before walking closer to the fireplace where the locals where gathered singing folk songs.
Cabir took some pictures as they all interacted with them before joining in dancing around the fire. They ate some food from the stalls and the girls brought a few things displayed.
"Look what I got.",Ishaan said showing three lamps to them.
"I heard they light up these lamps together and make wishes writing on them. We could join them.",Ishaan said excited giving them the lamps.
They took turns writing their wishes on the lamp and saw everyone doing the same around them.
"Let's leave it from the bridge.",Manik said holding the lamp in one hand and Nandini's in other as he lead the group.
They stood in pairs holding the lamp in middle as they lit the candle.
Slowly they left the lamp along with others and it flew in the sky.
They had their arms around each other as they smiled looking at the hundreds of lamps in the sky.
"It's beautiful.",Nandini murmured and others nodded.
Mukti shivered pulling the jacket closer as the temperature drops further.
" Can we get inside the car please?",She said looking at everyone and they nodded chuckling at how cute she looked.
Nandini went forward hugging her along with Navya as the girls walk ahead with the boys following them.
" You okay?",Cabir asked him as Ishaan gave them some space.
Manik nodded before glancing at Ishaan.
" Ishaan", Manik said and Ishaan looked up surprised.
" I need some help pulling down some articles.",Manik said and Cabir looked at him surprised this time.
" Sure. Are they trolling you and Nandini again? I will alert the team.",Ishaan asked curious.
" No it's personal. I need help with removing articles on Annie Kapoor.",Manik said with a gulp as he looked ahead at Nandini laughing at something Navya said.
" The fashion designer? Nandini's Idol?",Ishaan asked confused as he pulled out his phone.
Cabir pat Manik's shoulder supporting him as he cleared his throat.
"Yes.",Manik said and Ishaan nodded sending a message to his team.
"I have asked them to get started on it but can I ask why or is it too personal?", Ishaan asked him carefully studying him.
" It's fine. I guess you deserve to know after knowing so many things about me. She is my mother. I hope you can connect the rest of the dots.",Manik said kicking a small rock looking down.
Ishaan didn't let his surprise show and just nodded.
" Don't worry. I will see it personally and make sure the articles and trending are off the list.",Ishaan said giving a supportive smile and Manik nodded grateful.
Cabir was grateful to Ishaan too and nodded turning to Manik.
" So you actually took up my advice.", Cabir teased a little and Manik shakes his head ignoring him.
"So when are you going to take my other advice and tell her how you feel about her.",Cabir asked teasing him bumping his shoulder a little.
Ishaan looked at him surprised.
"Wait Wait. You are together and you still haven't told her how you feel about her.",Ishaan asked Manik who rolled his eyes at the two of them.
"What are you waiting for?",Cabir asked not understanding his reason.
"I am not waiting for anything. It's just I can't find a right time. She was busy with the competition and now with the house and everything. I want to do it right this time make it special for her.",Manik said looking ahead at her smiling.
" If you keep looking for the right time. It's never gonna come. I waited for 7 years finding the right time only to realize that it wasn't. Just go ahead and say it. The time will become right and special the moment you say it.",Ishaan said with a lost look giving them a smile.
Manik and Cabir raised an eyebrow at him and he narrowed his eyes at them.
" Too cheesy at the end?",He asked and they nodded.
" I have been reading way too many books. Just ignore it. You get what I am trying to say. Right?",Ishaan asked him sneaking a glance at Mukti.
Manik smirked at Cabir who moved to the other side of Ishaan.
" Yeah we are totally getting it.",Cabir said wrapping a hand on Ishaan's shoulder.
" Looks like someone is spending a lot of time with Mukti.",Manik teased wrapping his hand on his shoulder too in flow.
Ishaan's eyes widen as he stared at Cabir who was as surprised as him but gave him a smile and they kept quiet.
"After finishing her first book she gave me the list of all of her books she wrote to read. The books are good and very well written but I don't think I can handle any more reading about how Harry likes to be called Daddy and Cassie is an innocent virgin who don't even know what is Sex? Like Seriously? We are in 21st century for god's sake.",Ishaan said frustrated running a hand down his face.
Manik and Cabir laughed at his state.
" Why don't you just tell her that you don't want to read it anymore?",Manik asked with a smirk.
"Are you being Serious? She has just started to be friendly, she will kill me if I tell her that.",Ishaan said his eyes widen at the thought of it.
"Don't worry. I will help you out.",Cabir said turning to the girls walking ahead of them.
"Mukti",Cabir yelled and Mukti turned along with the girls.
Manik was laughing while Ishaan was frozen with Cabir amused.
"Ishaan wanted to say something to you.",Cabir said earning a elbow to his side.
Mukti turned to Ishaan curious ignoring the boys laughing.
Manik pushed Ishaan and he stumbled in his steps and glared at Manik.
"Uhh..huh. It's nothing really.",Ishaan said clearing his throat looking away from her curious eyes.
"Don't be afraid Ishaan. You were telling us just now how her books..",Cabir started speaking but Ishaan cut him off in the middle.
".. are amazing and I would love to read more.",Ishaan finished giving a big smile to her and Mukti's frown turned into a smile again.
"Okay I will send you the rest of the books too. Tell me how you like it.",Mukti said with a grin as she turned back to the girls who were shaking their head at their boyfriends laughing.
Ishaan groaned and glared at the boys who hi-fied chuckling.
Ishaan was walking looking down and Manik sighed wrapping his arms around his shoulder again.
"Now stop sulking. I will share you the summary I have of all her books. You won't have to read the complete book. Cabir did the same.",Manik said him and he nodded with a grin grateful.
"You owe us.",Cabir said putting his hand around him too.
"I don't owe you shit.",Ishaan said glaring at Cabir.
"Oh c'mon don't be like this. Here I was thinking we would watch the new disney movie together. The reviews look good.",Cabir said with a pout teasing him and Ishaan pushed him around as they joked and laughed.
The girls watched the boys having fun leaning on the car.
"Manik seems different. He looks happy.",Mukti said with a soft smile on her face and Navya nodded.
Nandini looked at them and realized it's just not her who thought something was different about him.
"Who's driving?",Cabir asked playing with the keys as he looked at the boys.
"I will drive. Come on Nandini.",Manik said as he opened the passenger door for her and the back door for the girls.
He shut the door and got in the driver's seat and glanced at everyone once.
Navya was snuggled on Cabir's lap with Mukti in middle and Ishaan on the other side.
He turned to Nandini and saw her seat belt undone and her lost in thoughts.
He leaned closer to her side and pulled the seat belt. She looked at him surprised making him smile.
"Where are you lost?",Manik asked pecking her lips as he locked the belt and moved back to his seat.
Nandini touched her lips lightly not believing it as she glanced at him to see him smirking as he reversed the car.
He took her hand resting on her knees and entwined them playing with her fingers as he drove.
"Can we stop and get some ice cream for home?",Mukti asked Manik and he looked at her from the mirror and nodded.
"Okay. Anything else?",Manik asked and they shake their head in no.
Manik made a stop and bought the ice cream before driving back home. He glanced at everyone and saw everyone sleeping at the back.
He turned to Nandini and she gave him a soft smile.
They reached home soon and Manik opened the door for her.
"Go inside. I will wake others up.",Manik gestured her and she nodded taking the ice cream.
Soon everyone got in half sleepy and went to their rooms wishing good night.
Manik looked at Nandini as they walked upstairs together.
"I will get changed and come to your room.",Manik said and she shakes her head in no.
"I will be in your room.",Nandini said and he nodded kissing her head.
Manik changed into his night pants as he freshened up and heard a knock.
He opened the door and smiled at Nandini wearing one of her usual night dresses. Her eyes were on his bare chest and he smiled pulling her in and shutting the door.
"Are you sleepy?",Manik asked her getting comfortable in the bed.
"A little.",She answered getting in beside him and he nodded wrapping his hand around her pulling her close to him.
"Did you tell Ishaan?",Nandini asked him softly.
"I did. He respected my privacy and didn't question further.", Manik said and Nandini smiled.
"I told you he is a good person.",Nandini said and Manik nodded.
"I thought if I am okay to trust him with that maybe I will be fine being close to him.",Manik said and Nandini lifted her head to look up at him.
"And were you?",She asked hopefully.
"I was. Maybe the doctor is right and the sessions are working along with talking and trusting people. ",Manik said with a small smile and she kissed his neck.
" I am proud of you. ",Nandini said cuddling closer to him.
" Thank you. ",Manik said laying her down and getting above her.
" For what? ",Nandini asked running her palm softly caressing his cheeks and face.
" For everything. ",Manik said looking her in the eye as he removed her hair from her face.
She gave him a smile and he paused, his eyes focused on her smile moving up to her eyes that were twinkling. He had so much to tell her. The words were on the tip of his mouth but he couldn't tell her instead he leaned down and kissed her.
She gasped surprised before closing her eyes, moving her hand to his neck and another running through his hair.
He took his time kissing her trying to tell her everything he wants to with the kiss before running his tongue over her bottom lip and she opened her mouth to let him tucking his hairs pulling him closer.
He smiled pressing his body down to her as he devoured her mouth passionately leaning more closer. His hands ran down her body to her leg as she curled it against his leg making him smile.
He tapped his fingers on her thighs teasing her, moving them up to the hem of her shirt as he traced his fingers on her waist making her arc closer to him. He moved his hand on her back and pulled her closer to him breaking the kiss and moving down to her neck.
"Manik",She breathed his name as he grazed his teeth on her skin.
He kept nibbling over her skin meeting her neck sucking it as he moved up and left butterfly kisses behind her earlobe making her shiver.
She ran her hand through his hair messing it up as her toes traced his leg curled around hers.
He rubbed his beard chin on her neck and she giggled holding his shoulders.
"It's ticklish.",Nandini said giggling more as Manik rubbed them over her neck, kissing on the spot he was earlier with a mischievous smile.
"You are going to leave a mark.",Nandini said as she tried to look down at him.
"Too late for that.",Manik said dropping a last kiss as he looked up at her.
"You seem different.",Nandini said the words on her mind aloud running her fingers through his chin playing with his beard.
"Good different?",Manik asks kissing her palms moving her hair back as he stared down at her.
Nandini nodded in yes as she chined up pulling him a little down to peck his lips.
"Yes. You are Happy, more relaxed, flirty even and dare I say a bit romantic too. ",Nandini said teasing him a little and he chuckled.
" Wasn't I romantic before?",Manik asked in a whisper as he traced his hand on her back making her gasp.
"Hm.. hmm you were but not so obvious then. Tell me what changed? ",Nandini asked running a hand down his chest and he stared at her, his adam's apple moving as he felt her touch down his chest teasing him.
"I just realized something.",Manik said her honestly and she looked up at him curious for his answer.
"Realised what?",Nandini asked him.
"That you are the one.",Manik said with a smile as he kissed her forehead.
She had her mouth a little open with her eyes widen as she heard him.
"That you are the one I can trust, the one who will be here for me, the one who will take care of me and worry over me even if it annoys the hell out of me, that you are the one who gives me hope and you are the one who is going to be my family, my home.",Manik said honestly looking her in the eye as he confessed.
She had tears in her eyes and no words to say.
" Are you proposing me Manik? ",Nandini asked with a chuckle still in disbelief.
" I can if you are ready and want me to. I even have a ring from the last time we planned to marry. ",Manik joined her on her joke as he kissed the side of her head as she laughed out loud with a tear rolling down her cheek.
" Are you really being serious right now? ",Nandini asked getting serious and Manik nodded as he lay down beside her pulling her above him with one of his hands still tucked under her shirt tracing her back slowly.
" Earlier I realized the fears I had were the fears of a 13 year old kid who watched his mother die infront of his own eyes, who saw the people his mother trusted with her life betray her. The kid who not only lost his mother but the only person who he trusted, the one who was his family, his home. The only person who gave him hope that life gets better, Never give up. ",Manik said looking up at the ceiling and Nandini hugged him kissing his chest.
" But I realized I am no more that fucking 13 year old who didn't have anyone. It's been 15 years and I have people now that I can trust. I have you. I was wrong to think that to be your strong pillar I can't be weak infront of you. You realize someone is strong only when you hear the struggles he went through and the battles he had to face to be the person he is today. ",Manik said with a soft smile turning to look at Nandini.
"It's good you have realised that I am the one because I am not going anywhere. You are stuck with me for a lifetime. ",Nandini said moving up to kiss him properly.
"Lifetime?",Manik asked thinking about it breaking the kiss and Nandini nodded leaning to kiss again.
"How about we try for a few years and then think about lifetime? I have a feeling it's just the start and you are going to get more annoying later.",Manik teased her running his thumb over her lips.
"You should have thought of that when you bumped into me at the theater and said yes to being my model. Now our fates are connected and we are stuck together for a lifetime. Take my advice and keep your girlfriend happy or she is really going to get more annoying. ",Nandini replied biting his thumb lightly as she kissed his jaw line moving to his neck.
" And how do I keep my girlfriend happy? ",Manik asked moving his hand up lifting her top along the way.
" You talk less and kiss more. ",Nandini said kissing his mouth and he immediately responded kissing her back with more force as he pulled her completely above him.
