Episode 18: Sole Power
Sonic's POV
Sonic: What's so awesome that you had to bring me all the way out here?
Apparently Tails wanted to show me something awesome he made out near the canyon as we were sitting in the Tails mobile Tails tells me the awesome thing he wanted to show me
Tails: Check it out. Voice. Activated. Controls. Start engine
The Tails Mobile beeps, turns on, and starts hovering. Pretty cool, I wonder if I can take a crack at this.
Sonic: Uh. Let me try. Give me a chocolate shake.
A compartment on the Tailsmobile's instrument board opens, and out comes a mechanical arm carrying a vanilla shake. Well this is an embarrassment and total fail
Sonic: (Takes the shake) Vanilla? I asked for chocolate. Fail.
Then the mechanical arm brings out chocolate syrup but instead of pouring it on the milkshake it pours it on my head
Tails: (Looks at me in surprise) Still working out the kinks... There's a towel back at the workshop
Guess I'm making a pitstop back to the workshop. I place the milkshake on the mobile and run off making my way towards the workshop.
Tails POV
Tails: (Looks at me in surprise) Still working out the kinks... There's a towel back at the workshop
Then Sonic runs off but then all of a sudden there is a loud deafening noise that shakes the Tails mobile around. I cover my ears as it was so loud and hurting my ears
Tails: Ow!
Then the Tails Mobile beeps and starts flying around. I was unable to control the vehicle as it flew out of the canyon and I couldn't focus because of that noise. The mobile was full on going out of control and i could not control it at all
Tails: Um, voice control? I don't mean to be bossy, but...don't crash!
The Tails mobile is flying through the canyons. The local volcano is shown at the end of the canyons.
Tails: Uh-oh...
Then I hear the noise again and right when I squeal and cover my ears the mobile falls towards the fiery pits of the volcano. But luckily Sonic came as he went down the circular path inside the volcano before jumping into the Tails Mobile, knocking it back on solid ground. Sonic lands next to the Tails Mobile. I would normally be happy that he saved me but that noise...it stopped. It was him! He made the noise!
Sonic: I guess voice-activated rocket thrusters are a bad idea when you're screaming.
Tails: (Takes off seat belt) I wouldn't have been screaming if you weren't making that horrible noise!
Sonic: What noise? I didn't hear any noise
He didn't hear it. That makes no sense...wait
Tails: Wait a minute...
Tails jumps out of the Tails mobile and walks up to Sonic.
Tails: I bet because you're faster than the speed of sound, you don't hear it.
Sonic: I'll prove it wasn't me. When I start running and nothing happens, you are going to feel so dumb.
Then the noise came back again. Yeah not so dumb now Sonic! I screamed loudly in pain as it was so loud and hurting my ears so bad. Then Sonic stopped and the noise was gone.
Sonic: (Stops up) Now, that's just circumstantial evidence.
Then i call Yasemin as this is serious and i would need her help
Tails: (calling Yasemin on his communicator) hey Yasemin meet me at my workshop. It's important
Yasemin's POV
I was waiting outside of Tails's workshop as i was called here and now i'm just waiting for him. I know he went out with Sonic somewhere. What if Sonic got hurt? Wait that's impossible, come on Yasemin this is Sonic we're talking about. He's probably fine, maybe Tails just wants some help cleaning the workshop again. Yeah that sounds right.
Tails: (calling out towards me) Yasemin there you are!
Then i see him with Sonic walking up to me
Yasemin: Hey, so what's up?
Tails: come on i'll explain everything once i have everything set up
Then i go inside and once Tails has everything setted up Sonic was sitting on a table and Tails tells me to hand him his tool box and i hand him his reflex hammer
Yasemin: Ok so what are we doing?
Tails: well we gotta do some tests on Sonic as whenever he runs he makes a noise
Yasemin: strange, is this a normal thing?
Sonic: nope
Tails: ok now let's do these tests!
Then Tails did a knee reflex check which seemed to be normal. Sonic did a sprint test which made that noise and wow, yeah that's not normal. Me and Tails were holding our ears tightly as the noise was so loud. Then we put him on an electric bike which didn't calm down the noise as it was still just as loud. And then he did some Irish dancing but the noise was still heard.
Yasemin: well?
Tails: I just can't figure out what's wrong with you. Until we get to the bottom of this, you better not run.
Sonic: Alright, no problem.
Then he runs out and me and Tails hold our ears again as he clearly didn't understand that he can't run for now until we figure this out. But he came back inside
Sonic: Sorry. Old habit.
Then he slams the door and i look at Tails
Yasemin: He's gonna be ok right?
Tails: oh yeah, don't worry Yasemin he'll be fine
Yasemin: ok, well we should go we have that volleyball match with the team later on today
Tails: oh yeah, come on Yasemin
Then we leave and make our way towards the beach near Sonic's shack and we say hello to everyone and now we were waiting for Sonic as he was supposed to come. Then he came but he didn't have the volleyball as we told him to bring it.
Amy: Sonic! You were supposed to bring the volleyball.
Sonic: Oh, sorry. I'll just zip back home to get it.
Sonic prepares to run. We all covered our ears preparing for the painful noise as me and Tails informed everyone about Sonic's speed making a noise. Sonic notices this and quickly resumes a normal pose.
Sonic: And by zip, I mean walk slowly and deliberately.
Then i see him walk off very slowly and i start to feel sad as i hated seeing him feel so trapped not being able to use his speed
Amy: Yasemin are you ok?
Then i look over at Amy
Yasemin: y-yeah all good here Amy
Then we both turn around seeing Sonic come back with the volleyball but then he drops it as he seems to have found something that caught his eye
Sonic: Guys! Robot attack at six o' clock!
Knuckles: (Ponders) I can't do six o' clock. I have tickets to the opera. No, wait, that's someone else.
Sonic: Behind you!
Crab Bots tries to get the drop on Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Sticks. Then me and Amy start trying to fight one of the crab bots but then Sonic comes in between us and makes the noise again which alarms us as Amy gets irritated and ends up destroying the crab bot by herself. I look at Sonic and give him a look as I know he wants to help us but he has to just sit in the sidelines for this one.
Amy: Sonic, we got this!
Then he sits down and Amy walks off. I go up to him
Yasemin: sorry about that but-
Sonic: yeah i know. Go on i'll just cheer you on
Then i see that Sonic really just wanted some alone time so i go off and help the team
Sonic's POV
I never thought I would be the one sitting in the sidelines cheering the team on. I was sitting down and seeing the team fight on the crab bots. I then see Knuckles doing a good job fighting the crab bots fist by fist.
Sonic: Way to go Knux! A left, then a right, then another left!
Knuckles: Wait! Which one am I on?
Knuckles looks at his fists and gets punched by the Crab Bot until he falls down. Oof maybe i should let him take care of the crab bots himself.
Knuckles: (Groans) How come he gets it and I don't?
Then I see Sticks hiding in the bushes trying to plan her attack. Maybe i have a suggestion for her
Sonic: Sticks! Your best move here is a spin attack!
Sticks: (Pops out of the bushes) That's your move, not mine.
The Crab Bots spot Sticks
Sticks: Uh-oh...
Man i forgot that is my own move. Then i see Amy hammering and destroying all the crab bots and jumping up in the air to dodge their lasers
Sonic: Yeah! Give them a taste of your secret triple backflip move!
Amy tries doing her move, but is grabbed in midair by a Crab Bot and thrown into the ground.
Amy: It's not a secret if you tell everyone!
Then i see Yasemin fighting amazing like always i would give her a suggestion but i i don't wanna see her struggle but maybe she could give a crack at one of those moves she showed me
Sonic: Yasemin, give them all you got with your sweet arial!
Then Yasemin hesitates and as she does it she doesn't stick the landing as she didn't have enough room to do it. And a crab bot throws her towards the ground but she pushes it off her and manages to still destroy it
Yasemin: Sonic not the right time when I don't have enough space or focus to do it!
Sonic: Sorry!
But then Sticks gets mad
Sticks: This ends now...
And when she said that I thought she meant destroying the crab bots, but no, she tied me up to the tree. So uncalled for, I was only trying to help.
Sonic: Hey! I thought you were talking about them!
Then i hear them fighting in the background as i was far away from them
Sonic: Oh, sure. Act like you can do this without...
Then i hear Amy finishing the last crab bot and i notice the team celebrating their victory without me
Sonic: (Disappointed) ...me.
Then i start getting sad but then I see a shadow walking towards me. It was Yasemin. She's probably here to yell at me for messing up her move.
Yasemin: hey...i'm really sorry for getting mad at you earlier
Wow, she's sorry? I thought she would completely come here to rub in the team's victory but I guess not. She really is something else I would have never expected.
Sonic: hey don't be sorry i messed up your move and now look at me-
Eggman: Looks like someone else is sitting on the sidelines
Eggman! Where did he come from? Whatever time to end this
Sonic: Eggman! (Tries to break free)
Oh yeah, I'm stuck.
Sonic: Wait, what do you mean "someone else"?
Eggman: I didn't send out these Crab Bots. (Sits up) Orbot and Cubot were dusting and accidently hit a button in the lair.
Sonic: So, you weren't behind this?
Eggman: (Drags the beach chair closer to Sonic) Looks like you don't need to be a genius to be an evil genius anymore. (Lies down in a beach chair) Makes me feel kinda unneeded.
Then I see Yasemin crossing her arms and she mumbles "so pathetic" so quietly but i could hear it but I didn't say anything. Eggman pulls out some popcorns and starts eating it
Sonic: I guess we have something in common...
Eggman: You eat popcorn when you are depressed too?
Sonic: Eh... no
Yasemin: that's just an odd food choice for being depressed if you ask me
Then I see the team calling out towards Yasemin and she looks at me. I can tell she wants to stay but i shouldn't push her away from the team and have her deal with my misery and betrayal
Sonic: go on Yas, i'll be fine
Then she runs off and i see her run to the team and i then look back at Eggman a bit upset
Sonic: we both can relate to the whole you know, sitting on the sidelines thing?
Eggman: Here, have some popcorn. You'll feel better.
I tried to get the popcorn, but I couldn't break free from the coconut trees. So I open my mouth while Eggman throws popcorn into it.
Eggman: Okay, the doctor is in. Talk to me. Just because I'm your sworn enemy, it doesn't mean we can't be friends.
Then before i speak Sticks steps in
Sticks: Sonic! Eggman's not your friend. If you listen to him, you're gonna end up tied to something.
Sonic: (sarcastically) Yeah, I wouldn't want that to happen
Then Tails comes in
Tails: (Walks up to me) I don't think this is a good idea, Sonic.
Sonic: Well, you couldn't help me! I'm kinda out of options here.
Yasemin: tell him Sonic
Thankfully Yasemin understood that i have no choice here
Sonic: (Sighs) Whenever I run, there's... this weird noise
Yasemin: yeah it's affecting his running and it's pretty bad
Eggman: You know, that happens to Cubot when he gets into the motor oil. Let's go run some tests.
Then Eggman gets up from the beach chair and starts up his Eggmobile. I try to go follow him but again I am stuck so Eggman disintegrates the upper and lower half of the palm tree with his wrist controller. Yasemin, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Sticks look on in worry as i follow the Eggmobile by hopping after it because i'm still stuck in the tree and i can't run so i guess hopping is my only option
(at Eggman's fortress)
I was now running around circles in front of him while the noise was being heard then Eggman understood what was going on
Eggman: I see. A classic case of velocity-to-energy ratio incompatibility
Sonic: But why is it happening now?
Eggman: It comes with age. Like wisdom. Or nose hair. But not to worry. I have what you need right here.
Eggman unlocks a compartment in the wall, revealing a pair of shoes. Not quite like the ones i have on as they were more like custom made
Eggman: These shoes have Power-absorbing Insoles. They'll prevent the sound loop that's causing the noise.
I take one of the shoe and examine it
Eggman: And best of all: they're machine washable
Sonic: (Smells the inside of the shoe) Well, how do I know this isn't another scheme of yours?
Eggman: What, you think I am planning a secret blister attack? If you don't want my help you can always walk out of here. [Takes the shoe back]
Well i got nothing to lose. All i want is to run again. So i put them on and prepare myself before running and giving these a test drive
Sonic: Okay. Here goes nothing.
Sonic runs around the lair with the shoes. No noise appears.
Sonic: Hey! There really was nothing. The noise is gone. Thanks Egghead! (Runs away)
Then I run off and I can't believe it's actually gone. I'm back! I can finally run again and not have anything stopping me
Yasemin's POV
We were playing volleyball as we were waiting for Sonic to come back. I hope Sonic is ok and finds the answer he needs for the weird noise. As I pass the ball to Amy Sonic comes out of nowhere and hits it and plays volleyball by himself and we watch him as he does it. Looks like he's no longer in the dumps that's for sure. But hey, no noise! It's gone!
Sonic: Yeah! Sonic's back baby! (Spins ball on his finger)
I smile at him and snicker at his words. He doesn't know it but mentioning himself in third person is a bit...well
Amy: Don't refer to yourself in a third person. Its creepy.
Knuckles: Yeah. Knuckles hates that.
Creepy that's it!
Tails: Wait! No noise! I guess Eggman figured it out.
Yasemin: and you got a souvenir out of it i see
I look down at his feet seeing these big orange custom made shoes. Not like his normal ones but hey no noise and he seems happy so i'm happy
Sonic: Yeah! (Points to his shoes) Power-absorbing Insoles (Runs around a little) Eggman actually helped me
But then all hope was lost as a giant robot appeared in front of us
Sonic: Or it was a part of a trap.
Sonic runs up to Giant Robot, who starts to sparkle. Sonic tries a spin attack, but Giant Robot blocks it with its shield and makes Sonic step back to his team with its eye laser. Eggman then shows up in the Eggmobile.
Eggman: Sonic, I'll like you to meet Giant Robot. I didn't have time to name him because I was too busy planning this trap.
Yasemin: Why am I not surprised that this is a trap? That whole act was a total sideshow!
Then the team agrees with me but Sonic runs towards the giant robot again. As Sonic runs faster, Giant Robots starts glowing red. Giant Robot blocks Sonic's attacks and strikes a victory pose.
Eggman: My turn.
Giant Robot punches Sonic back, who is caught by Knuckles. Then i run forward with Amy and Sonic follows us as we try to get a hit at this giant robot. But it kept firing lasers at us as i kept ducking and jumping towards the side to avoid getting hit
Tails: (scanning the giant robot) It doesn't have a power source. How is that even possible?
Sonic runs around Giant Robot while dodging lasers and we all kept on trying to attack the robot
Eggman: (Laughs) That's right, Sonic. Run. Run!
Then me and Tails ponder on Eggman's behaviour. Run...run...run!
Yasemin and Tails: Sonic, stop!
Then Sonic stops and looks at us
Tails: Your shoes are powering the robot.
Yasemin: The faster it moves, the stronger it gets!
Sonic shows a dumbfound expression and looks at his shoes.
Eggman: Oh, sneaky. I wish I had thought of that Oh, wait, I did
Sonic: Oh, that's easy to fix.
Sonic tries taking his shoes off, but cannot despite struggling heavily.
Eggman: Oh, did I forget to mention? They don't come off!
Then i gasp and Sonic gets determined as he looks at Eggman
Sonic: Well, we'll see about that, Eggy.
Sonic kicks a coconut tree and a coconut falls down on his head. Sonic stands still for a second.
Sonic: I'm not saying it will be easy...
Then the team and I run towards the robot and try to attack it. I had Knuckles throw my towards the robot and i try to hit it as Amy uses her hammer and then Sticks uses her boomerang but the Robot dodges it and ends up hitting me as i fall back and land back in the ground
Sticks: (Catches her boomerang) If Sonic's not running, why does the robot still have power?
Eggman: Because the shoes store the energy he generates! You see...
Yasemin: (interrupts) no stop
Amy: Are we really gonna do the thing where you explain how you did it?
Then Eggman ignores me and Amy and explains it
Eggman: The hardest part was getting that sound to play whenever Sonic ran. (Grabs a holoprojector)I have actually prepared a brief presentation that explains the whole brilliant scheme.
Eggman releases the holo-projector which hovers through midair and starts projecting a diagram. Amy, however, immediately smashes it with her hammer.
Eggman: (Hovers up to Amy) Did you know how long it took me to create that presentation? Here, I've prepared a brief presentation that explains it step by step.
Yasemin: gonna pass on that too Egghead
Then Eggman growls at me and we see Sonic trying to attack the robot but it just powers up more every time he runs
Eggman: If you could only see yourself right now. I took your greatest strength and made it into a weakness!
Sonic launches various attacks to the robot, only to have them blocked again. After a while, Sonic stands up and looks sadly at his shoes. Defeated. Eggman laughs at him. This is not over though, i run over to him and put my hands on his shoulders
Yasemin: hey look at me
Then he looks at me
Yasemin: don't give up yet i have an idea
Then i tell him my idea and he smiles as he runs around the robot in ultra speed and the giant robot starts glowing red
I walk back and stand with Amy
Amy: what did you tell him?
Yasemin: (giggles) just watch
Sticks: Sonic. This is crazy!
Knuckles: No it isn't. Its stupid.
Sticks: Crazy!
Knuckles: Stupid!
Sticks: Crazy!
Knuckles: Stupid!
While Sticks and Knuckles argue, Sonic runs faster and faster around Giant Robot. As it glows more intensely Giant Robot starts to twitch. I get pumped up as this was all part of my plan
Sticks: Crazy.
Knuckles: Stupid.
Tails: No. It's... brilliant!
Sonic continues to run faster around the twitching Giant Robot.
Eggman: (Taps on his wrist controller) Hey, wait. That's too much. Seriously! Slow down! It's overloading!
Sonic accelerates to top-speed as he runs and Giant Robot's head explodes. Pieces of the robot rain down while its body goes limp. Sonic stops up in front of the beaten Giant Robot. And he looks at all of us
Sonic: Ah, now that we're done warming up, Sonic's gonna go for a run. Yasemin, are you interested in joining?
Then the team looked at me as I was standing there completely still. Ah, what the heck, i mean i do need a good run and by good run i mean...a good run on my hoverboard
Yasemin: (get my hoverboard out) only if you're afraid of losing against me!
Then I raced off high in the sky with Sonic on my trail. We end up going on a nice run across the whole village and through the jungle. I swerve through the trees and end up swooping high in the air feeling the warm breeze blow through my face and I look down seeing Sonic and I smile bright seeing that blue hero speed through the fields and looking at me in the process. He eventually would sometimes get himself caught up as he would lose focus on the race and look at me.
I found it kind of strange but funny seeing the poor guy trip and fall and eventually gaining speed on me again but doing the same thing on repeat. It was quite a sight to see maybe he was going easy on me. I could respect that
Sonic's POV
She's....wow...i have no words. Her skills, smile, competitiveness and her challenging nature had me feeling something. I ended up looking like a fool as i got distracted by her. It's almost like she does this whole act on purpose but I don't mind it as being with her and spending time with her was always such a bliss and joyride. We ended up finishing our race and going towards the canyon she lands the hoverboard and hops off it
Yasemin: What a race!
Sonic: yeah, just so you i-i was planning on beating you but-
Then Yasemin smirks at me and puts her arm around me and gives me a cocky and cheeky grin
Yasemin: sure you were but just admit it i'm equally better than you. I could possibly be gaining on you sooner than later
Then i laugh and remove her arm off me and stare at her giving her a stare and i smile at her
Sonic: not gonna ever admit that Miss Yasemin but i can say this we make a pretty good duo if i do say so myself
Then she walks near me
Yasemin: hmm i agree. We both seem to balance each other out and work well together
Sonic: so...how about another race?
Then Yasemin thinks about it and nods her head
Yasemin: and just for you i'll go more slower grandpa
Then she flies off and I get a burst of speed and run right behind her. She really is something. I don't think I've ever felt this way about any other girl before. I wonder what more meets the eye between her because I'm already hooked.
