"Okay, today's the day, only have one chance to get this right," I mutter to myself while taking in the school in front of me. I come here every weekday, why does it suddenly look so intimidating now?
This isn't a special day, there isn't a celebration or festival going on, but it is important. My legs felt like jelly as I walked up the front stairs. Why was I so nervous? Oh yeah, because Lila's first appearance is today. Better known as Lie-la thanks to the Miraculous Ladybug fandom. And how I convince Marinette to deal with Lie-la, also has a major impact on the future of my life. Like, having Lie-la join Hawkmoth and needing to be aware of the secret spy in my mist.
As I walked up the stairs, I hear story after story about Lie-la. Like how she has a bunch of connections in Hollywood, or how famous singers have written songs for her. Or how she is friends with royalty and other bull.
My nervousness slowly fades as I roll my eyes at every single piece of news I hear while walking up the stairs. By the time I passed the doors, I was more annoyed and in disbelief than nervous.
I walk up to Alya and great her with a dead-pan face. "Morning."
"Hey, girl-! Why so gloomy today?" Asked Alya.
"Oh you know, had to stay up last night to finish the homework Miss Mendeleiev gave. What about you? Why so pumped up today?" Not like I already know everything.
"Okay, you're not going to believe this but, wait for it..." She quickly tapped her phone a few times before shoving it into my face. And I thought we were already over that. "Look! I got an exclusive interview for the Miraculous Blog with Lila this morning cause Paris' superheroes saved saved her life once! Watch!"

"Uh, she's just laughing. Are you sure you got an interview, and not a demonstration on how to laugh 101 from Lila?" I am genuinely confused here.
"Lila?" Asked Marinette, hurrying over to us.
"Yeah," answered Alya. "She just started at our school! She even gave me an exclusive interview for my blog. Ladybug, Chat Noir and Silver Moonrise saved her life before, how cool is that? You came right on time, I was just showing Yin the video!"
Alya re-played the video and showed it to Marinette.
"Who is this girl, and what kind of hypnotizing power does she have?" Exclaimed Marinette.
She then saw Lie-la dragging Adrien into the library and turned to me. "Look, she's trying to steal Adrien away from Yin! Yin, we have to go stop them!"
I will have to admit, seeing Adrien and Lie-la together, gave me this...weird feeling in my chest. I don't know what it is, but I don't like it. I don't like how there's a little voice in the back of my head telling that it's jealousy that I'm feeling either.
"Marinette, you're over reacting! Lila isn't 'stealing' Adrien away from me, he's not even mine. I don't have control over who Adrien falls in love with. If he likes Lila, then he likes Lila, it's his feelings," I said, shaking my head at Marinette and ignoring the little jab of pain I felt in my chest as I said so.
"Yeah, Marinette," agreed Alya. "You need to chill out. Yin's not even mad, why are you so worked up? My Miraculous Blog has the highest number of hits after that Lila interview!" Alya walked off and headed to class.
"Wait, what interview?" Marinette asked, turning to me. Guess she didn't hear all of Alya's jabbering. Lucky.
I looked at Marinette's confused face and sighed. "Don't get mad, but it's about how Ladybug saved her life."
"WHAT?" Shouted Marinette, making the students around us turn their heads.
"I believe you were specifically told not to get mad?" I asked Marinette with the same dead-pan face I gave Alya before.
Marinette, ignoring what I said, said, "That girl's a liar!"
"You wouldn't be a little jealous, would you Marinette?" Asked Tikki, poking out of her purse.
"What? Me? Jealous of Lila because she got so popular just by lying? No!" She said, before dragging me into the library to spy on Adrien and Lie-la.
Marinette pulled me down behind a bookcase and poked her head out from the side. Leaning beside her on the bookshelf I asked her, "Why am I here again?"
Before Marinette could answer me, Tikki suddenly flew out. "Girls, that book! I need to get a closer look at it!"
"Why are you so concerned about his book? Hide, Tikki!" Whisper-shouted Marinette, opening her jacket.
"What book are you talking about, Tikki?" I asked, pretending like I haven't been practicing how to get it all night.
"That book Adrien just took out!" Tikki pointed at the brown and gold book in Adrien's hands.
"Will do," I said. Unfortunately, Lie-la just happened to come back at that moment. Oh well, I thought. An entire night's planning gone to waste.
"Now we can get going on our history homework! It's so much more fun doing it together, don't you think?" Asked Lie-la in a sickeningly sweet voice, getting way to close for comfort to Adrien.
Oh, please. As if doing homework together with a friend ever made it easier.
"U-uh-" Stuttered Adrien.
Lie-la's eyes fell to Adrien's book and she swiped it over. Swiper, no swiping, said Dora's voice in my head.
"Ooh, what's this?" Asked Lie-la, flipping through the book. Something that you shouldn't touch.
"Uh, could you give it back to me? It's my father's," said Adrien tugging at the book.
My eyebrows lifted a bit when I heard him say that. Guess what he told me in the TV station was true, he does stick up for himself more than he did in the past. Pretty sure he just let Lie-la have the book in the show. For some reason, I feel like a proud mother bird after seeing her babies fly for the first time. Good for you Adrien.
But this doesn't stop Lie-la from holding onto the book. "What's it about?" She asks.
Adrien sighs but reply's. "A book about superheroes."
"Oh, I love superheroes!" Said Lie-la excitedly.
"Oh, no!" Whispered Marinette. "It's already too late!" She bends down and bumps into a book rack, sending a few centimeters away.
From behind the bookshelf, I hear Lie-la gasp. "Ladybug?"
"Yeah, I think Chat Noir's on the next page!" Said Adrien. I smile a little at how he's excited to see his miraculous in the book.
"Well, what do you think about Ladybug?" Asked Lie-la, tracing her finger on Adrien's shoulder.
Ew. Just ew. No, why would you do that to someone you just met? I thought, cringing internally.
"Um..." Adrien said, clearly uncomfortable with Lie-la's actions. "She's pretty amazing, you know, being a superhero and all."
Lie-la didn't seem to like his answer. "You know," she said, moving her chair next to Adrien's. "A girl doesn't need a costume to be amazing."
"Well, of course I do!" Adrien says immediately.
"Don't worry, it's okay if you've got a soft spot for the bug," said Lie-la in a comforting tone. Girl, what? He just said no. I really hate to say this but, bruh.
"You know, I actually happen to be really close friends with Ladybug," said Lie-la.
"Really?" Asked Adrien suspiciously. Apparently, Lie-la doesn't know that Ladybug is really secretive about herself and doesn't really trust anyone.
She doesn't even trust the not-so-new-anymore hero Silver Moonrise, like can you believe her? I've been fight akumas with her for how long now? A week?
"Yeah!" Sai Lie-la, mistaking Adrien's tone for curiosity instead of suspicion. "We can chat about it if you want! Not here though.
"Why don't we meet in the park after school and I'll tell yo everything?"
Marinette, extremely worked up by all of Lie-la's lies, accidentally sent the book cart she had moved before flying to the opposite side of the room.
Adrien and Lie-la looked toward the fallen cart in confusion. Marinette had hid under the table they were sitting at so neither of them saw her. Poor things, they're gonna think this place is haunted now.
Suddenly, Adrien's phone started ringing. He picked it up and a panicked look took over his face.
"I gotta go!" He said, hurriedly putting his things inside his bag. "I've got a lesson it..." He took a peek at his phone screen. "56 seconds!"
When Adrien was about to sling his bag on his shoulder, Lie-la startled him, making him drop his bag on the ground.
"So...?" Said Lie-la, using her left foot to slide Adrien's book out of his bag. "Park?"
"Uh, sure!" Replied Adrien as Lie-la handed him his bag, completely oblivious to what just happened.
After Adrien had ran out of the library, Lie-la picked up the book and flipped it open.
"Hmm..." She said. "A vixen superheroine, how interesting..." And then she walked off.
Part One of Operation: Stop Lie-la, failed.
