Sweet Pea POV:
"Look what we found" Toni smirked as herself and Joaquin walked outside to where Fangs and I were sitting on the stairs.
"Unless it's porn, I really don't care" I said as I held my cigarette to my lips.
My girlfriend hates that I smoke and made me promise that I'd try to quit. But hey, she isn't here and hopefully she won't find out.
"We found a list of names of who's coming here for the week" Joaquin spoke and I raised an eyebrow.
Riverdale and South Side High, my school, are doing some program thing where we swap students with each other for a week. It's supposed to help each of the schools learn how to be and do better for their students. I think it's completely pointless. This school is a total dump. They need buildings that aren't falling apart, reliable internet and teachers who actually know what they're doing and show up to class. But South Side High is way past adjustments. This school will never be good.
"Do you have pictures?" I asked. They both shook their head.
"Then what use is that?" I said as Fangs took the cigarette from between my index and middle finger.
I turned to him as I rolled my eyes and stuck my middle finger up at him. He grinned as he winked at me.
"You're a seriously annoying piece of shit" Toni said frustratedly as she pulled the cigarette out of Fangs' hand and pressed it to her lips.
"I have every right to be when I can't finish a fucking cigarette" I said as I rolled my eyes.
Joaquin rolled his eyes at the three of us. The conversation soon changed to the Serpents. As they spoke about how I'm going to deal with the constant threats of the Ghoulies, I heard my phone go off.
"hey baby" my girlfriend messaged, instantly bringing a smile to my face.
"Hey bubs, how are you?" I messaged her back.
Betty is my girlfriend, my weakness. We've been together for about three months but we've kept our relationship quiet for a number of reasons. But the main two being that Betty's parents completely oppose the South Side and the Serpents. They would probably die of shock if they found out their daughter was dating the Serpent King. The second reason is because my life isn't the safest, the Ghoulies plus a whole range of other people are out to get me. If they find out, she'll be in a lot of danger that I may not be able to protect her from.
"Gooood. You free tonight? I wanna tell you something" she said. "You gonna wine and dine me before you break up with me?" I texted her sarcastically. "Damn, you figured out my plan" she said making me smirk.
"Why you smiling so much? You're making me feel uncomfortable" Toni said and Joaquin nodded his head.
"None of your business pixie fairy" I grinned as I looked back to my phone.
"Elizabeth, you're breaking my heart" I sent. "You have one???" she messaged me.
Has this girl forgotten she's talking to the King of a gang? She has guts.
"Do people tell you how funny you are?" I sent back and I could practically see the smirk that was forming on her face.
"Very often actually" she said. "Sure. Pops at 7?" I messaged her as my friends began trying to actually figure out who I was messaging. "Sounds great, see you later ❤️."
I pushed my phone into my pocket as I stood up. I looked to the three of them, watching my every move.
"You guys are annoying and I'm going home" I said and Joaquin chuckled.
"You made it to 10 am, that's a personal record for you" he said.
"Aren't you literally 20 years old and still go to school?" I said as I raised an eyebrow.
"Aren't you an orphan?" He said to me and we all looked to him in shock.
"Ruthless out here" Fangs said.
"Joaquin, I'm not a very nice person and I'm not afraid to completely ruin your life. Say one more thing, I dare you" I warned him with a fake smile.
He pretended to zip his lips and threw away the keys.
"Just as I thought" I smirked as I began walking to my bike.
I got onto my bike and headed home to my trailer. I had a decent 9 hour wait until Betty and I had our date so I spent that 9 hours laying in bed, scrolling through practically all my social media's.
When it reached a couple minutes past sick I got up and looked through my wardrobe. I picked out a white tank top and black jeans. I contemplated wearing a turtle neck because Betty is obsessed when I do, but it's too hot for that.
Anyway, I put on a gold chain and a couple rings. Again, Betty loves them.
I soon headed to Pops and saw Betty sitting in the booth where we had our first date.
I took a seat opposite her and she looked to me with a smile as she put down her phone.
"Hey beautiful" I smirked as we connected our hands over the table.
"Hi handsome" she said making me blush.
What can I say? Underneath my tough exterior is a guy who can't help but blush when his girlfriend compliments him.
"So, what's your exciting news?" I asked her. She smiled excitedly.
"Well" she started with the most adorable smile.
"You know that program our schools are running?" She said and I instantly frowned.
"Please do not tell me you're coming to my school" I said and she frowned.
"What's wrong with me being there?" She asked confusedly.
"Betty, do you not understand why we keep our relationship private? You being at my school is opening yourself up to danger I don't have the time to deal with" I said frustratedly.
Betty knows my reasons for wanting to keep our relationship private, because of the Ghoulies. They're extremely dangerous and people who play dirty.
"No but Sweet Pea" she started but I cut her off.
"No Betty, you're not doing this" I told her sternly. She gave me an annoyed look.
"Sweet Pea can you please let me explain?" She said but I shook my head in disbelief.
"Fucking hell, now I've got to figure out a way to keep you safe and them off my ass" I said angrily.
How could she be so stupid? She knows how dangerous they are and she knows that they're enemies of the Serpent. It's like she wants to get herself killed.
"If you" she said but I got up.
"Unless you're going to tell me I'm not going to see you at school tomorrow, I really don't want to hear it" I warned her as I walked out of the diner.
I was honestly so angry because I've always expressed how dangerous the other half of the South Side is. The Ghoulies only care about themselves and getting their way, no matter what they have to do.
I drove back to my trailer as I couldn't get rid of those angry emotions I was feeling. If I walked into my trailer I think I may have teared the whole place apart.
Instead, I walked to the trailer next to mine and knocked on Fangs' door. He's the only person who won't give me shit and will actually be helpful. Only reason I tolerate Joaquin and Toni is because Fangs likes them.
Fangs opened his trailer door with nothing but a pair of joggers on. I raised an eyebrow as he chuckled, stepping aside to let me in.
"Can't judge me on what I wear in my own trailer" he said as he closed the door behind me.
We both took a seat on his couch and he turned off the tv as he turned to face me.
"What's up?" He asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"Everything is a mess" I groaned out and he gave me a confused look.
"Be specific" he said.
He sounds like my English teacher when he marks my essay on a book I didn't read.
"My girlfriend has done something I think is completely stupid and she isn't seeing it from my point of view" I said and he just looked to me in shock.
"Girlfriend?" He started.
"Surprise" I managed to smirk.
"Tell me everything about her" he said excitedly as he punched my shoulder.
"Fangs, in the middle of a crisis" I said and he nodded his head.
"What can't she see from your point of view?" He asked me softly.
"We've been together for three months" I started but he interrupted me.
"Three months?" He said as he raised his voice in shock.
"Fangs" I said warningly.
"Sorry, sorry" he mumbled.
"We've kept our relationship private because her parents would never approve and the Ghoulies. As soon as they find out, it's going to put a large target on her back" I said and he nodded his head.
"She decided it was a good idea to do that stupid program that our schools are doing" I said.
"Well you can't blame her for wanting to spend time with you" he answered and I nodded my head.
"But it's so incredibly dangerous for her. I would never forgive myself if anything happened to her" I said seriously and he nodded his head.
"Did you give her a chance to explain why she agreed to do this program? I'm sure if she's doing something her parents aren't going to approve of, this isn't just about you" he said and I raised an eyebrow.
"What other reasons may she have?" I asked him and he shrugged his shoulders.
"Maybe she has some connections here. I mean in some way or another we both have connections to the North Side" he said and I nodded my head.
Both Fangs and I have step siblings who live on the North Side. They're rich bitches who are entitled and want nothing to do with us since we live on the South Side. We don't care anyway, we don't need some preppy wannabes in our life.
"I don't know what to do" I said.
"Call her" he told me.
"I don't think she's going to be too happy to hear from me" I told him honestly.
"It's either you try or you lose her" he said and I nodded my head.
I sat on his couch as I tried calling her three times but each time she rejected my calls. I let out a sigh.
"She's ignoring me" I told him.
"You'll have the rest of the week to talk to her" he said and I groaned.
"You'll be fine Sweet Pea. You always know how to sort things out" he told me as he stood up and walked into the kitchen.
"You better be right" I said as he pulled out two beers from the fridge.
He walked back into the lounge and passed me a beer. I popped off the cap and took a long drink from it.

Fangs and I walked into school on time. He and I have never came before 9 am so the fact that we're here at 7:30 am is amazing.
"So, give me a name and description" he smirked up at me.
"Betty, the most gorgeous looking girl you've ever seen and she'll most definitely stand out compared to everyone else" I said making us chuckle.
We were walking towards our lockers when Fangs stopped walking.
"Is that Betty?" He asked as he peered into one of the classroom's.
I turned to look into the room and I saw Betty, who was sitting on a table next to James. James is a cocky bastard in the year above us. Opposite the two of them was one of the teachers here, Mr. Cooper.
I guess that's Betty's connection to the South Side. Either he's her dad in some weird turn of events, or her uncle. Most likely her uncle. James' last name is also Cooper, so I guess her cousin.
Betty caught Fangs and I looking at her and she gave me an annoyed look as she turned her attention away from me.
"She definitely is like no one else I've ever seen" He chuckled out and I raised an eyebrow.
"You better not be calling her hot" I warned him.
"Dude chill" he said as he rolled his eyes.
Fangs and I walked to our lockers as I tried to figure out what I was going to do.
"So, I hear you're a pretty big dick" James said just as Fangs had headed off to his class.
"What do you want?" I asked him as I raised an eyebrow.
"I want you to not treat Betty like shit if you want a future with her" he told me sternly.
"Yeah and I don't need some random telling me how to look after my girlfriend" I told him sternly as I slammed my locker.
"Yeah, not really a random" he chuckled with a smirk.
"What? Her no body cousin?" I laughed at him.
"Her brother" he smirked as he walked off, meeting up with one of his friends.
"Fuck" I yelled out as I punched the locker below me.
I stormed down the hall and walked to Fangs' class. I saw a kid sitting besides him so I gave him a glare. He instantly got up and moved away.
"Sweet Pea" he sighed as I took a seat next to him.
"You know I love you, a lot. But I do have other friends than you. This doesn't mean I don't care about you or love you any less, this just means that I can't spend all my time with you" he told me softly as he rested his hand over one of mine.
"Shut up you idiot" I said as I rolled my eyes.
"Denial babe, I understand" he told me softly as he nodded his head.
"James is Betty's brother" I said and watched as he tried not to laugh.
"Fangs this isn't funny" I said and he got rid of his grin.
"Well now that you've learnt that, work on fixing things" he said and I sighed.
"How?" I asked him as the teacher walked into the class.
"Sweet Pea, out of my class" the teacher spoke. I rolled my eyes as I pulled out my gun.
"Do not fuck with me" I warned him sternly as I pointed the gun. He instantly shut up and looked away from me.
"Talk to Betty when you see her later. If you fix things with her, you can work things out with him. But for now, please don't go talking to her uncle" he told me and I nodded my head.
"Now, shut up. This teacher is low key the love of my life and him and I will fuck by the end of the year" he smirked.
"Jesus" I said with disgust.
"You like North Siders and I like older men, simple" he said.
I sat there bored for the whole lesson as I had no other option but to listen to the old man speak. I tried speaking to Fangs but he punched me in the dick every time I spoke. Bloody bastard.
When the bell rang, I practically ran out of the classroom and left Fangs to flirt with his teacher. I'm conflicted on whether to stop this nonsense or to see whether he can actually get a teacher to sleep with him.
As I walked down the hall I saw Betty. I quickly ran up to her and pulled her into an empty room.
"Leave me alone" she said angrily as she pulled her arm out of my grip.
"You know my life doesn't revolve around you right?" She said angrily as she made some distance between us.
"I know, I'm sorry I treated you terribly last night" I said and she shook her head.
"Than you go and treat my brother like shit. Who the fuck do you think you are? Do you want to be a dick to my uncle too?" She asked angrily.
"Betty I promise I'll fix things with your brother and I won't cause any trouble with your uncle. I just really wanted to apologise to you" I said seriously as I looked into her eyes.
"Well maybe I don't want to hear it" she said and my face dropped.
This definitely wasn't apart of the plan. I knew she'd be angry but I really didn't expect her not to hear me out.
"Betts" I said as I furrowed my eyebrows.
"It's not fair the way you wouldn't even let me explain myself to you. Not that I should really have to explain myself to you at all. I decided to do this program because yes, I did want to spend time with you. But because this is one of the only ways I could see my brother and uncle" she said as she sat on one of the desks, looking away from me.
"I'm sorry" I said as I sat opposite her on the teachers desk.
"I can't see us working out, honestly" she said as she let out a sigh and walked away from me.
"Betts please, no" I said as stood up and stood in front of her.
I picked up her hands and pulled them into mine. She let out a sigh as she looked up to me.
"I love you Betty and I promise I will make up for the way I treated you" I said and she gave me a shocked look.
"what?" I asked her confusedly.
"Why would you say I love you when I'm mad at you? You've just ruined the first time we said I love you" she huffed out as she furrowed her eyebrows.
"That implies that you love me babe" I smirked and she raised an eyebrow.
"Don't start getting cocky with me" she warned me and I quickly nodded my head.
"I do love you Pea, but yesterday you treated me like I meant absolutely nothing to you. And it was all over me wanting to spend more time with you" she frowned.
"I was just scared that something would happen to you and it would be my fault" I said as I let go of her hands and took a seat by her side.
"We're going to have to cross this road at some point Pea. You're always going to be the King and I'm always, still questioning actually, going to be your girlfriend. And Malachai is always going to be a problem" she said and I let out a sigh.
"I just don't want to see you hurt" I said to her as she rested her head on my shoulder.
"Bubba, it's either we stop hiding our relationship or we're done" she said.
"Then of course we stop hiding" I said and she smiled as she wrapped her arms around me.
"I'm actually going to throw up" James said as he walked into the room.
"Wanna watch us kiss?" I smirked as he took a seat opposite us.
"Do you want a girlfriend?" He asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"Are you guys going to keep arguing?" Betty asked with a huff.
"Depends" James said so I turned to face him.
"I'm sorry about earlier" I told him.
That was the most horrible thing I've ever had to do. I hope I never have to do that again.
"Have you apologised to her?" He asked me and I nodded my head.
"Fine, treat her right and we're not going to have a problem" he told me.
Betty smiled as she snuggled her head into my neck and pressed a kiss to me.
"No seriously, I'm actually going to hurl" James said as he got up and ran out of the room.
Betty chuckled as she shook her head. I looked at her as I couldn't help the smile that formed on my lips.
"I love you" I said as I looked into her eyes.
"I love you too" she smiled. I pressed a kiss to her lips as I looked to her, feeling more happier than ever.
