I watched in horror as kent was thrown towards the other side of the arena, his body weak
I could hear her voice echo throughout the arena as she called after him
"Kent!"
She was so focused on that soldier that she didn't even notice the warrior standing right beside her.
I desperately tried to pry my mouth open to make a sound, any sound to let her know of the danger behind her.
Despite my efforts, I was forced to watch as he wrapped his hand around her arm lifting her into the air
"Is this who you brought me here to fight?" he roared
" you should've sent one of the queen's ladies to deal with her" he snickered
He threw lunas body onto the floor leaving her struggling to catch her breath
" This should humble her" the king laughed allowing all his best men to giggle around her
I've sat in this booth many times before
I've watched as this warrior has fought many battles and I have never once batted an eye
Only criminals were allowed to fight and the results of the fight were nothing but a harsh result of their crimes.
That's what they told us.
Only men who betrayed this kingdom, men who didn't care for those around them entered this arena. But I watched as luna tried to crawl to her feet, her injuries slowly keeping her in place.
He took a lap around the arena getting the audience more excited right before he completes his first kill
I lifted my chin, allowing me to look directly at Luna's struggling body.
For the first time, I saw her look helpless
So often I watched as she fought and defended herself but she has never once asked for help.
But today she struggled
Today she looked helpless
Her head turned and suddenly her eyes locked with mine
The world fell silent
It was just her and I
"I want to live" it was almost as if I could hear her voice in my head
She was screaming
She was realizing something for the first time in her life
She wanted to live.
" then fight " I found myself whispering into the air
"What did you say prince kai" the king and all his man had turned towards me
I refused to speak once more
Instead, I looked back down to the arena and the men did the same thing
Shocked to see the defeated girl back up on her feet again
"Hey! Pig! Why did you run away? I thought we were fighting to the death"
I nearly choked at her choice of words
The audience fell quiet waiting for the great warrior's response
He yells some profanities and threats at luna. My heart was practically beating in my ears and I couldn't understand what he was saying
My stomach began to turn on itself in nervous anticipation about what will happen next
But I trusted that she came up with a plan before threatening a killing machine who would take her out without hesitation.
As his body was close enough to her she dropped to the floor while raising the chain she was connected to causing her body to be dragged across the floor, but also allowing him to break her chains
I jumped from the chair, not knowing whether to shout, and this poison prevented me from running in victory.
" that's enough" the king yelled
" The reason she is there is that the princess informed us of her plan"
"What plan," I said
" she plans on killing you just like how she killed all those people in the village. The princess found out the people didn't die from the rebels but from drowning hundreds of feet from any water source."
I scoffed at the nerve of the princess
How dare she reports such a claim to the king without knowing what happened?
" I TOLD YOU SHE SAVED MY LIFE" I yelled,
" The water came from a hundred-foot wall she created to stop the rebels from killing us, father!"
He fell silent
I was sure if it was because I yelled or maybe it was because this was the first time I've called the king father in years.
He and his men stared at me in disbelief probably because this is the most they have ever heard me say.
A familiar scream brought all our eyes back to the arena.
I wanted to jump out into the arena but all I could do was clench the arms of my chair
Luna was being held by the neck by that monster
All my father's friends rushed to the edge of the railing to see her fight for her life
They laughed and yelled obscenities
How many innocent people have we sat here and watched be wrongfully murdered?
I felt suddenly sick thinking about it
I became angry
Angrier than I've ever been before
We are supposed to protect our kingdom but here we are destroying our people and watching as entertainment
I felt heat rise in my body
Sweat began to drip down my face as my temperature rose drastically
I found myself struggling to breathe
It was out of my control
I tried to pace my breath but the heat continued to develop
No one noticed
No one looked back
I was going to die and no one would see me
I could hear the air forcing it way down into my lungs but it became harder with each breath
I felt my vision slowly turning black
And then suddenly I felt a cold presence beside me
I looked up to see a ball of water
I found the strength to reach up and pull the water into my mouth
My body immediately cooled down
My body slowly began to function normally again i quickly caught my breath
I looked down and luna was still in battle
She saved my life as she is fighting for her own
I pushed my body up from my chair and walked towards the ledge to see her
The monster was crouching over holding his face, while the water slowly began to fill the arena
Within seconds a huge wall of water crashed down on him and solidified almost immediately leaving him frozen
A smile made its way onto my face
My body had a bit more strength
I must have dissolved the poison in heat
She ran towards her friend and bent in front of him
She quickly put him in a comfortable position holding his head on her lap.
I felt a bump in my throat but I also felt pain all over my body
I watched as her shoulder slumped in relief
I assumed that he survived
She looked up and was met by silence from the audience
She had to finish the job
She had to kill the monster to get out of there
But for some reason, i knew she wouldn't be able to do it
She would never kill without reason
" I will not"
"I will not kill him"
She made a huge mistake
Taking away the one thing that truly made the king happy
From his body language, I knew he was already fuming
The sound of his voice carried "Guards"
Guards came in from every direction marching through the muddy arena and surrounding luna
She prepared her body ready to fight
But I had enough
" Enough"
My voice boomed across the audience and caught the attention of everyone
Even the king turned his head and looked back at me.
