Theo was pissed.
Who was he kidding? He was always pissed but today was the day where his patience was tested at every nook and corner, resulting in him almost killing people. However, he had been advised by his therapist to not go on a killing streak if someone pissed you off and he tried his hardest to adhere to it.
Also, his father gave him a friendly talk sometime back regarding the same and that proved to be a good motivating force as well.
Safe to say, the day was exhausting and he sighed in relief when he reached his palace in Styx. Normally, he would walk to his room, which gave him the better chance of coming across his staff and annoying them but today, he teleported straight outside his room.
He kicked the door open and expected to see Adonis cuddled in with their cats but to his surprise, the room was entirely dark.
What the fuck? He thought and frowned.
"Adonis?" He asked but received no response, putting him on alert instantly.
What if Thor came back?
What if he took him away?!
Theo panicked and his thoughts were immediately filled with rage and fear. If that Norse bastard touched even a single hair on his head, Theo would kill him. And he would be sure to make it painful. Consequences be damned!
He swore out loud and prepared to head out when he heard the sound of a switch being turned on. The darkness subsided, allowing him to see clearly and the sight before him stole his breath away.
Standing before him, where once his bed rested, was now an extraordinary fort made up of numerous pillows and blankets, covered with beautiful blue and pink fairy lights, giving it a magical look. The lights glowed softly in the otherwise dark room, giving the pillow fort a warm and cozy look.
And making everything a thousand times better was the figure sitting inside the fort, smiling at Theo with warm loving eyes.
Theo felt his heart flutter inside his chest and all his worries faded away into oblivion.
"Are you gonna keep staring or come inside already?" Adonis asked teasingly, a smirk on his handsome face.
Theo grinned and ran to the fort, despite it being only five feet away as if he needed to be with his lover as fast as possible. As if every second away hurt.
He threw himself on Adonis who wrapped his arms around his prince, and stumbled back due to the impact, laughing while failing on his back.
Theo smiled into his lover's chest and stayed there for a long moment, relishing in the way Adonis's hands petted his hair, delicately and so incredibly gently as if he was impeccably precious.
And Theo sighed in relief because after a long long time of feeling like absolute shit about himself, feeling so broken and worthless, meeting Adonis was like finding the whole damn ocean in an everlasting desert.
He never thought anyone could ever love him. Gods, he didn't love himself, so how could he ever have hope for someone else? But today, right in this moment, feeling his once blackened heart sway to the steady music of Adonis's heartbeat, and feeling those gentle hands caressing him with utmost care, he knew he was a lucky son of a bitch. He found love. He finally did and the realization made him smile.
He lent up from Adonis's chest and looked down at his lover who was gazing up at him with a questioning look. Theo smiled and kissed the latter with a gentleness that took both of them by surprise. They broke apart a few moments later and Adonis blinked, as if returning from a daze.
"Wow. I guess you really liked the fort?" He asked and Theo laughed.
"Oh fuck yeah. I'd be a little pissed thinking about how we are gonna clean this shit up later but considering I am not the one who has to clean up. I am absolutely dandy." He replied smugly and Adonis rolled his eyes.
Now that he was inside the fort, he took time to see all of it properly and it was safe to say that inside, the thing was even more warm and cozy as compared to the exterior.
The fairy lights ran from the front to the interior and covered the walls of the palace, glimmering and decorating the whole place with a soft, beautiful glow. Aiding them in their quest to provide warmth were small different colorful electrical candles that lined up the corners.
In the middle of the fort was a small projector and on Theo's right was a small basket and some bottles of wine.
"This is really pretty. How much time did this take?" Theo asked, his eyes raking his surroundings while Adonis was solely focused on the god.
"I have been planning a date for a long time and gods, is it hard to think of a good one." Adonis complained and Theo smirked in agreement. They did so many things together every single day, from eating to sleeping but when it came to an official date, both of them struggled with date night ideas.
"So I was thinking of something for quite some time when finally yesterday, it finally hit me. Do you like it...?"
"We could literally be drinking our ass off in a dingy parking lot somewhere and I'd still like it." Theo replied confidently and Adonis grimaced, making the latter laugh.
"And why is that?" Adonis asked.
"Because it's you. I don't care where we are or what we are doing. As long as it's you I am with, I couldn't give any less shits." Theo replied with a playful smile but his eyes bled truth and Adonis felt heat creeping up his neck. He cursed his heart for beating so loudly that he was sure Theo could hear it.
"Orrr....it might just have to do something with the fact that you really like drinking and causing trouble." Adonis retorted dryly, still trying to calm his racing heart while Theo laughed loudly.
"Yeah that's part of the reason too, not gonna lie." Theo replied with an innocent smile and kissed Adonis on the cheek, changing his position from sitting on Adonis's chest to sitting by his side now.
"Well, my ever so mischievous god, why don't we start this date with one of your personal favourites, then." Adonis started while reaching for the bottle of wine by his side, making Theo raise his brow in amusement.
He opened the bottle and placed a fancy glass in Theo's hand.
"Here, my lord. The finest of wines for the finest of gods, I hope this is up to your liking. Please, do tell, if it's not, I shall get rid of it for you." Adonis said in an overly exaggerated posh French accent, while pouring the red wine in the glass, bowing right after and Theo felt a laugh bubble in his throat.
He cleared his throat and straightened up his posture, taking a gulp from the glass and wrinkling his nose afterwards, a frown working up his face.
"What? What is it, my lord? Is it not satisfactory?" Adonis asked, still in character and Theo fought hard to not laugh at that ridiculous accent.
"Nah this is fine but I know what will make this even better." Theo replied coyly and Adonis frowned.
"Wh-" before he could finish his enquiry, Theo kissed him hard on the mouth with a ferocious intensity, making Adonis moan out of instinct.
"There. The taste got so much better now." Theo whispered after breaking apart and Adonis blinked.
It took him a moment to register what Theo said and some more to comprehend it. And as soon as he did, he laughed.
He laughed so hard, tears started to prick his eyes and he used his free hand to wipe them away.
"That was so fucking cheesy." Adonis said with a soft smile and playful eyes, while Theo gasped, feigning offense.
"Heyyy, you were supposed to swoon over that and make out with me vigorously, which would lead to fantastic hardcore sex. You ruined it now." The god replied, trying to glare at his lover who was smiling widely, shaking his head.
"Yeah we are not gonna do that...yet." Adonis retorted and Theo brightened up at that, making the latter roll his eyes and flick the god lightly on his forehead.
"We have better things to do right now." He continued while reaching for the basket next to him. He opened it to reveal two very large burgers, giving one to Theo and keeping the other one for himself.
Rummaging further, he took out a large pack of French fries and Theo's favourite spicy Chicken wings. As if answering to the call of his one true love, Theo's stomach rumbled loudly as soon as the wings came into sight, making Adonis chuckle.
"Cut it off! So I am hungry, Fuck off." The God grumbled while averting his eyes, the tip of his ears painted pink and Adonis had to fight off the urge to say awwww out loud. Thank heavens that he did, because as adorable and precious his lover was, there is no doubt about the fact that Theo would punch him in the face if he ever gushed over his cuteness out loud.
So Adonis simply settled for a smile and put all the food in front of them.
"Bon appetitè."
Adonis wished softly, and Theo raided his beloved Chicken wings, before eating anything else, while Adonis munched on his burger, biting back a smile.
"Holy shit, this is so good" the god moaned and Adonis nodded in agreement. He got the food from Theo's favourite restaurant which was all the way in Inferi. But it was so worth it.
"Shouldn't you have cooked some fancy shit for me though? I mean, that seems more fitting for the whole romantic jazz you planned for tonight, right?" Theo asked while dipping some french fries into the sauce, and then to Adonis's utter horror, Theo dipped them into his wine.
"What the actual fuck is wrong with you?" He managed, while shifting away from the god dramatically who rolled his eyes.
"What?"
"Exactly. What possessed you to do that?!"
"It's not a big deal. It tastes surprisingly good. Here, Try it."
"I would rather commit the art of not living than try that." .
"You dramatic little shit." Theo laughed while shaking his head. "Whatever, your loss anyway. And You didn't answer my question, by the way." He continued and Adonis remembered the said question, which he failed to process back then, after his eyes witnessed that monstrosity committed by his boyfriend.
"Um, that was the plan but..." he trailed off and Theo frowned.
"But what?"
"I may have messed up and burnt the whole thing down...along with part of our kitchen."
"..."
Silence was the loudest sound in the room for a whole minute, until Theo's lips tugged upwards, his eyes squinted and his head fell back with the intense force of his loud, howling laughter which filled the whole room and Adonis blushed.
"Hey it wasn't that bad! I only burnt like half of the kitchen! It could be worse." His attempt to defend himself proved to be futile when Theo's roaring laughter increased tenfold at his statement. It was so contagious, Adonis found himself laughing alongside his god.
"It was so embarrassing already but even more, when Yiuwa showed up to talk to you but he found me yelling in the burning kitchen, flailing my arms around trying to save the food. I'd never seen the man look so terrified before." Adonis told, in between fits of laughter, recalling the whole incident and Theo looked like he had trouble breathing. His face was red, his eyes teary and he looked absolutely breathtaking, Adonis concluded.
"Damn, you broke my record. I caused fire almost everywhere other than my own house but you beat me to it." The god announced proudly, as if nothing could please him more than knowing that his boyfriend had almost burnt his entire kitchen.
Adonis rolled his eyes at the weirdness incarnate, that was Theo and the two continued eating, smiling and laughing while exchanging stories. It was pleasant and peaceful, just the two of them in their little tranquil paradise.
After dinner, Adonis put on a Zombie movie much to his distaste, because for some reason, his boyfriend was quite fond of them. So there they laid, cuddled up against each other, watching the morbid movie on screen while making fun of the horrible acting and the terrible graphics.
One movie wasn't enough, so they decided to have a marathon of their favourite classics, including Silence of the Lambs, Phantom of the Opera, Dracula and so many more.
It was about three in the morning, when Adonis realized that Theo's usual commentary was missing. He looked to his side and melted at the sight of his lover sleeping with his mouth slightly opened and his hands clenched in tiny fists, holding on to Adonis's arm.
Theo looked so beautiful, so serene that Adonis took out his phone from his pocket and clicked a picture of him with a smile. He changed his current wallpaper which was a picture of their kittens, bundled up together, sleeping comfortably on a blanket and changed it to the image of his sleeping kitten.
He turned off the movie and switched off the electric candles that were decorating the whole place, leaving only the shining fairy lights.
He laid down comfortably and pulled Theo closer to himself, who laid his head on Adonis's chest sleepily and tried to cuddle even closer, as if they had any distance left between them already, making Adonis smile. He kissed his love on the forehead, then on the nose and finally a little peck on those pouty lips.
"I love you, Theo." He whispered and the latter replied with a soft snore, making Adonis chuckle.
And the two slept, soaking in each other's warmth, underneath the gentle glow of the glimmering lights, feeling safe, protected and cherished.
