hello my loves!! i want to preface this by saying yes i posted about this on my real account but i know not all of you follow me so i wanted to talk about it here as well.
last night i received a message from an amazing reader of mine, telling me to check out Love & Thunder by voidlunaas here on wattpad because it was so similar, almost word for word.
now, i've gotten messages like this before & they end up being just similar with different plots, so i wasn't too worried. but just in case, i do in fact search it up. when i tell you they copied everything they possible could from THIS fanfic, i mean it.
here are some screenshots of some similar points, you'll see now some of it is exactly the same. obviously mine are the good ones & the other persons are the walmart versions.
note: in my version it said "derek asked wanting to know about the sister he had lost" as a typo because they were originally gonna be siblings & i'm too lazy to fix it. in their version they DID fix it, so props to them
so this entire thing we see here continues throughout their entire fic. i didn't even read the entire thing cause it made me physically sick. one because they copied me and two because it's so badly written it's embarrassing.
now what REALLY got me mad was when they took the entire "valet" storyline (sloane valet blah blah blah). now i know it's not the most original storyline but it's one ive has since chapter FIVE of this story and it's literally one of my favorite parts (expect plot twists btw i'm not done with sloane). but they stole it & changed it to SARAH Valet. they couldn't even change the name??
anyways, so i left some comments throughout their entire story, and i was not nice at all. as i shouldn't be because i've worked on starting line for a YEAR & i'm not going to be nice about blatant plagarism.
so this morning the person posted this on their page:
now, here's the thing. i'd love to believe that their friend put them up to this & they thought of tam lot of these & that they only found me a few days ago, but...there's a flaw in that statement.
1: your friend can give you the same ideas from my story, but they're not going to copy my entire dialogue almost word for word, as i've shown above. like, really?
2: they follow six accounts, i happen to be one of them. that's a REALLY weird coincidence. & they say they only found me 3 days ago, but i can see whos followed me recently & i'm sure they wouldn't be there at all.
3: now, like i said, i'd love to believe them, i would. but they said they found me three days ago. that they had no idea about starting line, blah blah blah. however, i found their old account, where the originally posted their fanfic
& i did in fact look back, they started love & thunder on THIS account AUGUST 13th. and i checked my screenshots, starting line was at 63K reads, and i was uploading 3x09 at the time, for reference. & they literally can't say that they didn't know me cause THEY FOLLOW SIX PEOPLE & IM ONE OF THE SIX PEOPLE, & STARTING LINE IS IN THEIR READING LIST ON THEIR OLD ACCOUNT, & IS ON THEIR NEW ACCOUNT!!!
like SERIOUSLY???
anyways, literally as i'm writing this the person took love & thunder off their account, however, you can go and look @voidmars because it has some / most of the same thing. you cant report the story anymore because they took it down, but i'd highly advise to look into their other fanfics, & also check their followings fics just to make sure they're not also copied.
i legitimately have laughed, cried, and gotten physically sick over this. it's just so shocking that people do this. i have spent HOUR writing this story. the reading time is almost 20 hours at the point i'm at writing wise, that's a whole lot of words!! and for someone to rip it off and copy it, it just sucks, to put it lightly.
nonetheless, thank you to -mangop0dz for bringing it to my attention. it truly means a lot to me.
and for everyone else, don't worry, starting line is still going to continue, season 4 will be coming in two weeks, as i've been taking a writing break. i hope you guys are having a WONDERFUL day. remember that you are loved, you are beautiful/handsome/attractive, and that you deserve happiness.
