Rem stood there in utter shock and disbelief at the information Subaru presented to her. She couldn't believe it, her own sister is going on a date with a knight
"Really Nee-Sama is going on a date with a knight!" Rem said excitedly
"Yup, I have a famous way with words. I was able to convince him to visit the mansion to have dinner with her"
Rem had the brightest smile plastered across her face. She was so happy for Ram. She couldnt believe Subaru actually did that for her own sister. Rem dropped the groceries and hugged Subaru tightly
"Thank you Subaru" Rem said looking up at him
"Your welcome Rem. I am going to go drop by and say hi to the children quickly. Then we need to go back and prepare Ram for her date" Subaru said. Rem nodded her head and let go of Subaru to pick the groceries back up
Subaru walked off to go find the children. He knew that they would be worried about him since he hasn't visited in almost three weeks
Subaru eventually heard familiar childish laughter near the field. He looked in the direction it came from, and found the children playing around as they normally did
One of the children noticed Subaru looking at them and smiled brightly and pointed at him "Subarus back!" he yelled out. All the children turned their heads to the direction he was pointing. They all smiled upon seeing Subaru there waving at them
"Subaru!" Petra yelled out as she ran towards him. The children all followed her
"Where have you been we were so worried" Petra said as she latched onto Subaru and hugged him tightly
"Long story, I had to go back to my home country to visit my parents" Subaru lied as he petted Petra on the head. Subaru knew he could not tell the children where he really was. It was a variety of not wanting to explain it, and fear of the consequences that may follow
"Well we are so glad you're back, we missed you alot!"
"Thank you, I missed you too. As much as I would love to stay longer, I need to go back and prepare for dinner. A very special guest is coming over" Subaru said. The children were sort of disappointed Subaru had to go so soon, but were glad he was back nonetheless
"Who's coming over?" Petra asked curiously. Subaru smiled and stood tall
"A royal knight is coming over" Subaru said. All the children looked at each other in amazement that an actual knight was going to be having dinner with Subaru
Petra then remembered seeing someone who looked like a knight in the village. She remembered his formal clothing, and his red hair
"Does the knight have red hair?" Petra asked curiously
"Yes actually he does, he is currently staying in the village for a week" Subaru said. The children's faces lit up again at the possibility of going to meet a royal knight. Subaru noticed Rem walk up to him, he took that as his indication that he should head back
"Oh look Rems here, I have to go now see you guys later!" Subaru said as he walked towards Rem
"Goodbye Subaru, come back soon. Also hi Rem Rem" Petra shouted out. Rem smiled at Petra and waved
"The children seem happy to have you back" Rem said looking at Subaru
"Yah they can't get enough of me" Subaru said laughing a bit. Rem giggled
"Nobody can get enough of you, Subaru"
Subaru and Rem watched as the children went to enter the village. Probably trying to meet the knight Subaru was talking about
They began to make their way back to the mansion. Neither of them could hold their excitement for Rams date.
"Since its Rams date, that means we will be the ones preparing dinner. What do think we should make for this big occasion?" Subaru asked curiously. Rem didnt answer for a moment she couldn't think of what to make that would really set a romantic mood
"I don't know Subaru. What foods set a romantic mood?" Rem asked
"Hmmm usually pastas are the perfect food for romance if you ask me. I don't know why it just seems right" Subaru said. Rem nodded her head in acknowledgement
They finally arrived back at the mansion. They both entered the kitchen and found Ram preparing lunch. Ram was changed back into her maid uniform
"Took you guys long enough" Ram said as she grabbed the groceries from Rems hands. Ram looked at Subaru and Rem weirdly. She noticed that both of them looked extremely excited
"Nee-Sama Nee-Sama Subaru needs to tell you something. You are going to love it" Rem said. Ram turned to look at Subaru curious and confused at what he had to tell her
"Ram you are going on a date with a knight" Subaru said enthusiastically. Rams facial expression froze. She stood there in utter disbelief of what Subaru said
"A k-knight? Stop lying" Ram said a little annoyed
"I am not lying to you. I landed you a date with a royal knight. He will be coming over for dinner tonight to see you, and only you. I was able to convince him to give you a shot" Subaru said with a smile on his face
Ram didn't know what to say, she was happy to finally have the chance to go on a date with someone. Especially if that someone was a knight. She couldn't believe Subaru actually landed her an actual date. A smile crept across her face
"Thank you Barusu I don't know what to say"
"Ram I promised you that I would help you find that someone, and that's what I did"
"Subaru always makes sure to follow through on his promises" Rem said happily. Subaru then remembered all the times he broke promises to Emilia, but decided not to mention that
"Anyway Ram, for the rest of the day me and Rem will take care of the chorus. You need to prepare for tonight" Subaru said. Ram nodded her head and walked away happily
Subaru and Rem finished preparing lunch and served it to Rosswal. Rosswal got confused when he saw Subaru and Rem hand out the food
"How come you guys decided to prepare lunch this fine afternoon" Rosswal asked in a cherry voice as always
"Ram is going on a date with a knight this evening, so Rem and I decided to take over lunch to let her prepare" Subaru said. Rem nodded her head in agreement
"My oh my, a knight you say. That is quite impressive to say the very least" Rosswal said
"Yup he will be coming over to have one on one dinner with her, If thats ok with you" Subaru responded
"Oh that's no trouble, I am quite curious to see how this plays out. Please send Ram my warm regards"
"Thank you Rosswal really you have been an excellent help so far" Subaru said
"Your more then welcome Subaru. Anyway, are you able to sit and chat about your world I am quite interested to know more about this technology you speak of" Rosswal said as he pointed to the chair next to him
"Of course" Subaru said as he sat down, Rem sat down next to him
"So what was it like, what does your world have to offer?" Rosswal asked curiously
"Subarus world has cities with these huge buildings that almost hit the clouds, they are way taller than any building in the capital" Rem saud as she moved her hand up high to give Rosswal an image
"I see... How tall are we talking here"
"Ummm... Imagine the mansion stacked up on eachother five times" Rem said. Rosswal nodded his head. He couldn't believe a building could even reach that height. He also didn't believe it, it sounded too imaginary to him
"I will believe it when I see it" Rosswal said
"You should come visit some time," Subaru said. A smile came to Rosswals face
"I definitely should one of these days, another thing to add on my to do list" Rosswal responded
"When me and Subaru come to visit. Rem promises to bring you some technology from Subarus' world to show you. Lady Beatrice currently has some communication devices in the forbidden library right now" Rem said
"Oh that would be great, I would love to see them. Anyway I still have work that needs to be done, I will see you all later. If you need anything I will be in my office. Also goodluck to Ram on her date" Rosswal said as he stood up and made his way back to his office
"Bye Rosswal," Subaru said as he also stood up and began to gather the plates with Rem. They brought the plates to the kitchen and began to clean them
Emilia wandered in looking for Subaru. A smile grew to her face when she finally found him. Rem noticed that Emilia had walked in. Rem was still determined to send her message to Emilia, but she didn't know how to convey it
Rem shuffled to get closer to Subaru while the washed dishes. Emilia noticed how close Rem was getting, and got a little frustrated. Subaru was too busy cleaning he didn't even notice how close Rem got
"Ummm hello Subaru '' Emilia said with a slightly annoyed expression on her face, she didn't like Rem getting all close to Subaru. Subaru turned to look at her, and quickly noticed how close he was to Rem
"Oh hello Emilia what brings you here?" Subaru said
"I just wanted to know if you wanted to hangout with me for a little while" Emilia said. Subaru looked over to Rem and she nodded her head in agreement
"Sure Emilia, let me finish the dishes here and I will be right over" Subaru said as he cleaned the last of the dishes
Subaru noticed Emilia didn't go back to her room. She was standing there waiting for Rem and Subaru to finish cleaning. Rem finished the last of her dish pile and looked at Subaru
"Rem will be with Nee-Sama preparing her for her date. Please come see us before her date arrives" Rem said
"You got it," Subaru responded. Rem then leaned in and hugged Subaru tightly before running off. Subaru saw Emilia stare with anger in her eyes. Subaru knew she didn't like Rem being all cuddly with him
After Rem took off Subaru approached Emilia still with a smile on his face, as if nothing had happened
"Are you ready?" Subaru asked. Emilias face softened, and her frown disappeared
"Yes I am ready, let's go out to the garden" Emilia said as she took Subarus hand leading him there
Rem knocked on Rams door "Nee-Sama are you there?"
"Yes you can come in," Ram said on the other side. Rem opened the door, and saw Ram sitting on her bed shaking a little. Rem noticed Ram didnt turn to look at her
"Nee-Sama are you ok?" Rem asked softly, as she approached her sister. She sat down next to her
"I am fine Rem. It's just that.... I am a little nervous that's all" Ram said as she looked out the window still not turning to face her sister
"It's fine Nee-Sama just calm down, Subaru will talk with you before the knight gets here" Rem said
"Rem... Don't you remember what happened last time when I tried to ask someone out" Ram asked with sadness in her voice. Ram has never been more embarrassed then the time she vomited on her lover while she was confessing her love to him
"Nee-Sama that was almost a year ago, you need to let that go" Rem said sympathetically
"I know but... he was a knight also" Ram said sadly
"Just because he was a knight doesn't change that it was a long time ago now. He probably returned to the capital and thought nothing of it. Anyway he's not in the village anymore so you don't have to worry" Rem said putting a arm around her sister
"What if he told all the other knights about me?" Ram said in a very depressed tone. She covered her face as she thought about that day, practically reliving it
"Nee-Sama, I think royal knights have better things to think of then concern themselves with a botched confession. Besides, the knight seemed very forgiving whenever he would talk to the locals, so I don't think you got to worry"
"I guess that's true" Ram said finally lowering her hands from her face
Emilia and Subaru sat in the garden. Subaru was telling Emilia more about the technology in his world. Emilia took in every word her expression in awe. She was still in denial about some of the stuff Subaru had told her. Puck was also there; he laughed hysterically in disbelief at some of Subarus technology. Obviously not believing him one bit. Emilia would pull his ear whenever he would laugh at Subaru
Dusk was approaching. "Alright Emilia, as much as I would want to talk more. I gotta go see Ram" Subaru said
"Why do you need to see Ram?" Emilia asked a little curious. Subaru smiled at her
"I am preparing Ram for her date with a knight," Subaru said. Emilia didn't know what to think, she never thought Ram would find someone like a knight to go out with
"Alright then, tell Ram I wished her luck" Emilia said smiling
"I will," Subaru said as he started running towards the mansion. Puck looked at Emilia with a confused expression on his face
"Why didn't you confess your feelings, you had all that time just you and him" Puck said
"Puck, there is no need to rush me!" Emilia said a little frustrated
At the village Rinehard was sitting around the children. The children were so interested in him being a royal knight. They stood there and asked Rinehard questions all afternoon, about his career. Rinehard answered everyone of their questions to the best of his ability
"Alright children, I have somewhere to be so I best be on my way. Please take care" Reinhard said as he walked off
"Ok, please come back tomorrow I still have some questions to ask" One of the children said
"I will try, I might be busy. Anyway I hope we meet again" Reinhard said as he made his way to the Rosswal mansion. He heard the children say their goodbyes, he turned around and waved at them as he walked down the trail
Reinhard was a tiny bit nervous about his date with Ram. He still missed Felt, and the character she was. But he knew he had to move on at some point
Subaru knocked on Rams door "Ram are you in there" Subaru called out
"You can come in Subaru" Rem said on the other side. Subaru opened the door, and only saw Rem. Ram was nowhere to be seen
"Where's Ram?" Subaru asked
"She is currently getting changed into that dress I gave her. I want her to look her best for her date" Rem said smiling.
"Nice, anyway we should start preparing dinner. The knight will be here anytime now"
"Yes we should start preparing, let's wait for Nee-Sama first"
Rem and Subaru waited for Ram. Eventually she came back dressed up for her date. Rem smiled she was so excited for her sister
"Alright Ram, he will be arriving anytime now. So please join me and Rem in the dining room" Subaru said. Ram nodded her head, and joined Subaru and Rem to the dining room
When they arrived Subaru told Ram to sit down, and wait. An idea formed in Subarus mind. Subaru walked out of the dining room and grabbed two pieces of cloth to use as blindfolds. He was going to take the term blind date literally
"Alright Ram, I am going to blindfold you. You can take it off once your date sits down. It's going to be like a big reveal" Subaru said. Ram was a little confused, but nodded her head in agreement
Subaru put the blindfold over Ram's eyes. He knew Ram was extremely nervous, so he decided to make it easier for her. Rem was in the kitchen preparing to make the food. Subaru then heard a loud knock at the door
"He's here! I am going to go let him in. You guys stay put" Subaru said as he walked out of the dinning hall. Ram was trembling, she never felt this nervous. Rem was also nervous herself she really wanted her sister to succeed this time
Subaru arrived at the door, he opened it and saw Reinhard with a warm smile on his face
"Greetings Subaru" Reinhard said
"Hello Reinhard are you ready for dinner tonight?"
"Yes I am actually. I am quite excited"
"Good to hear, anyway she is waiting for you in the dining room. I will take you there now" Subaru said, Reinhard nodded. The two made their way to the dining room. Before entering Subaru stopped Reinhard
"Alright before you enter the dining room. I am going to blindfold you. So you two don't have an awkward staredown" Subaru said. Reinhard looked at Subaru a little confused at this idea, but agreed nonetheless
Subaru put the blindfold over Reinhard, and opened the door to lead him to his seat that sat across Ram. Ram heard the door open and got nervous, she was actually thankful she had the blindfold on. It gave her time to think on what to say when she finally saw him
Ram heard the chair in front of her move forward. Someone was in front of her. Rams palms were sweating, she could hear her own heart beat. She knew she couldn't be protected by the blindfold forever. It felt like an execution just counting down the seconds until her life was either made, or destroyed
"Alright, you two can take off your blindfolds once you hear me exit the room" Subaru said as started to make his way towards the kitchen door
Subaru entered the kitchen. Both Ram and Reinhard heard the door close, and were in the dining room alone. It was time. Reinhard and Ram slowly untied their blindfolds. They both felt each other's anxiety. They both took their blindfolds off the reveal who was sitting in front of them
Ram's eyes widened when she saw Reinhard in front of her, the same knight she vomited on a year ago. Reinhard was just as shocked, he didn't expect to see her again after that encounter
"Why hello again, I didn't expect to see you here" Reinhard said with a welcoming smile on his face after seeing Ram
Ram was trembling, memories of her confession played again in her head on loop. Ram knew she had to keep composure, and smiled back, but looked down at the table
"Yah I didn't.... Expect to see you here either" Ram said weakly. Reinhard could see that Ram was afraid to even look at him, he knew she felt embarrassed about their last encounter. The truth is Reinhard actually felt sympathy for her after that day. When Reinhard was in the village he would always enjoy Rams company, in fact he even missed it
"You dont... You dont have to be afraid to look at me" Reinhard said sympathetically. Ram looked up at Reinhard nervously. Rinehard still had a welcoming smile on his face trying to ease Rams nerves
"I know the last time we met... It didn't really end well" Ram wanted to cover her face from embarrassment when Rinehard brought up her confession, but she pushed on still looking at Reinhard intently
"I'm so sorry!" Ram squealed out as she shut her eyes tight
"Don't be sorry. It was no trouble. If I were to be honest I missed seeing you everyday when I was in the village" Ram opened her eyes slowly. A light smile came to her face
"R-Really? You really missed me visiting you" Ram asked
"Yes quite a lot actually. They were often the highlight of my visits. Standing there was quite boring, so it was always nice to have someone to talk to" Reinhard said. Ram just stared in astonishment
"You know when you took off. Something was telling me to follow you and calm you down. But I decided to give you your space, and talk to you about it the next day. But you never came back, eventually I had to return to the capital. But you never left my mind, I thought about the day I would finally get to meet you again" Reinhard said happily. Ram couldn't believe Reinhard actually wanted to see her again after her confession
In the kitchen Rem and Subaru were busy preparing their food. Rem was stirring the pot hastily, she was nervous that Ram would lose her composure and run off. The food was eventually ready to be served
"Subaru please take these plates to them" Rem said
"Alright Rem" Subaru responded. He picked up the two plates, and made his way to the dining room. Subaru had to carry the plates on both of his hands. He couldn't lay them on top of each other because it would squish the food
While walking Subaru lost balance on one of the plates, and the plate came crashing to the floor. Food and glass splattered everywhere. Rem jumped at the sound of the plate crashing to the floor
"Whoops" Subaru said regrettably
"Subaru!" Rem yelled out
Ram and Reinhard heard the sound of the plate crashing to the floor. They looked over to the kitchen curious as to what was happening. They heard Rem yell out Subarus name
Ram sighed and face palmed because she knew exactly what just happened
"What happened in that kitchen?" Reinhard said. He turned over to Ram and saw her facepalming
"Barusu is what happened," Ram said. Rinehard chuckled a bit. They noticed the kitchen door open slightly
Subaru poked his head out with an apologetic smile on his face. "Your food will be ready in just a minute!" Subaru yelled out, he was dragged back into the kitchen by Rem
Ram and Reinhard laughed at Subarus incompetence
"Is he always like this" Reinhard asked curiously
Rams face lit up at the chance to tell another person all about Subarus failures "Oh yes all the time. While he worked at the mansion, we had to put up with constant mistakes and slip ups"
"Tell me about it, I am quite curious" Reinhard said, and Ram nodded her head and began to tell Reinhard about every single one of Subarus mistakes. Rinehard laughed constantly, he thought it was the funniest thing in the world that someone would make so many mistakes on simple house chores
In the kitchen Rem and Subaru were rushing to make more food. They heard Rinehard laugh, so both of them knew it was going well. Subaru cleaned up the glass and. He frowned because he could overhear Ram making fun of him
"You should have seen the time Subaru almost burned down the mansion trying to make breakfast" Subaru heard Ram say from the dining room
"WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN!" Subaru yelled out. Rem turned her head to look at Subaru
"Subaru please don't interrupt their date" Rem asked in a serious tone. Subaru facepalmed
"She's out there telling lies about me" Subaru said as he threw the remainder of the glass and food in the garbage. Rem giggled
"Subaru please let Nee-Sama have her fun, at least for tonight" Rem said with a pleading smile on her face
Subaru sighed "Fine" he said reluctantly. They both heard Rinehard and Ram laugh hysterically
Rem eventually finished the food for the second time, but this time she carried one of the plates
"Subaru lets take their food to them" Rem said. Subaru nodded and grabbed the other plate, and followed Rem out to the dining room. Rem almost froze when she saw Reinhard at the table. Rem remembered her previous confession and was surprised to see that Ram had not run off. Reinhard was looking at Subaru with a gigantic smile on his face
"Careful not to drop that," Reinhard said jokingly as Subaru laid down his plate. Subaru let out a defeated sigh
"Ram I have no idea why you're so devoted to letting the whole world know about my mistakes, first my parents now Rinehard" Subaru said as he crossed his arms. Rinehard laughed at Subarus expression
Subaru was suddenly pulled back into the kitchen by Rem. When they entered the kitchen, Rem looked at Subaru with a worried expression
"Subaru, that's the same knight Ram vomited on!" Rem said. Subaru made a confused face
"Wait you didn't mention anything about the guy she confessed to being a knight"
"I... I didn't think it was relevant to the story" Rem said
"Well... She seems to be handling it quite well" Subaru said, Rem heard Ram laugh and her expression softened
"I guess you're right" Rem said
In the dining hall, Rinehard and Ram were enjoying eachothers company
"So how is being a knight, it must be amazing to be looked up to by so many people" Ram asked
"Ummm... Well the truth is it seems fun at first, but then you got to deal with the expectations that come with being the best" Rinehard said
"What do you mean?" Ram asked
"What I mean is when you are the best at something, everybody expects you to live up to that high standard. Any mistake is forbidden, show any sign of weakness and your whole reputation comes crashing down" Rinehard said
Ram understood completely what Rinehard meant. She felt that herself when she still had her horn
"I get what you mean," Ram said sympathetically. Rinehards brow went up, he didn't think anybody else would understand that feeling
"You do?"
"Yes, when I still had my horn I was put on the exact same pedestal. I was very powerful. My poor sister Rem was trapped in my shadow, she was unable to live up to my unbelievably high expectations" Ram said. Rinehard nodded his head
"I'm sorry to hear that, but it feels better to have someone understand how I felt my entire life. When Felt withdrew from the royal election. I was blamed for not being able to convince her to stay. Ultimately making me responsible for prolonging the election process"
"I am sure it wasn't your fault" Ram said
Rinehard smiled slightly "Thank you Ram really. I just hope we find another candidate to take Felts place, I just want this election over and done with" Rinehard said
"How do you find another candidate? I thought the insignia only chooses five" Ram asked
"Well when a royal candidate withdraws, another candidate is chosen by the insignia. This means we need to test all 50 million citizens again to search for a new candidate" Rinehard said. Ram nodded her head
"Anyway this cooking is really good, who made this?" Rinehard asked. Ram smiled
"That would be my sister Rem, she is really good at cooking" Ram said
Emilia opened the door, and revealed herself. He noticed Rinehard and Ram sitting across from each other, and remembered that date Subaru was talking about and got really embarrassed for interrupting
"Oh... Hello Rinehard, and Ram. I'm so sorry for interrupting, but have any of you seen Subaru?" Emilia asked
"He's in the kitchen dropping plates" Rinehard said chuckling slightly
"Ok thank you!" Emilia said. Emilia tried to run into the kitchen, she was extremely embarrassed walking in on such a romantic scene
Emilia tripped on the rug and fell to the floor, her royal insignia falling out of her pocket as she slid across the marble floor
"Miss Emilia are you ok?" Ram asked, concerned. Emilia nodded her head now even more embarrassed
Ram got out of her seat to pick up the item that dropped out of Emilia's pocket
"Here Miss Emilia let me pick that up for you" Ram said as she grabbed her insignia. Ram walked over to Emilia offering it to her, but Rinehard noticed something
The insignia was glowing in Rams hand
