A long time ago, there was a village surrounded by an enormous forest. A village that had been safe from the creatures of Grimm for as long as anyone could remember. It had been so long, that the villagers believe that their forest had been charmed and would keep the monsters at bay, so long as no one entered it.

A boy was now running with his kite at the village until he trips himself from a rock. The boy falls onto the grass as the kite flies away in the sky. He stands up before looking back at his village and runs after his kite.

But as time went on, the people became complacent.

The boy finds his kite, but he gets distracted by a glowing moth and chases after it.
However as the time passed it was starting to get late boy was still chasing after the glowing moth. He hears growling sounds and becomes afraid when he is confronted by a Beowolf, who is about to pounce on him. Suddenly, a black-haired girl shoves the boy aside and slays the Beowolf.
Warrior:"Go home, boy." she said as a warning.
The boy just stares at the warrior, who turns around.
Warrior: "You never saw me. And I never saw you." she said to the boy.
The warrior begins to walk away, before the boy then called her out.
Boy: "Wait! Thank you." he said.
The boy then watches the warrior walk away.

When the boy made it back to his village, he told no one of the warrior who had saved him. But he described the terrible monster he had narrowly escaped. Those who believed him took his safe return as proof that the woods protected them. Everyone continued living exactly as they had. Everyone, except the boy.
It was now the sunset as the boy sharpens his knife with a wood statue resembles the warrior. After he sharpens and examines his knife, he sheathes it. The boy heads to the woods to search for the warrior. The boy hears the growling and confronts a Beowolf before it was slain by the warrior. The warrior sheathes her weapon.
Warrior: "You again?" she asked him.
Boy: "You rememeber me?" he asked her.
Warrior:" I remember everyone I've saved... and everyone I didn't. I told you not to come back."
Boy: "I had to find you. To bring you this."
The boy gives the warrior a baggage.
Warrior: "I'll take it, if it means you'll leave."
Boy: "Thank you."
Warrior: "Next time you enter the woods, you're on your own." she warned him.
The boy watches the warrior walk away once more before he looks down at his knife and sheathes it.

The boy now wielding a machete confronting three Nevermore . The boy manages to cut down two Nevermores but the third Nevermore attacks the boy. The boy holds his wounded shoulder. The Nevermore attempts to attack the boy but it is cut down. The boy realizes as he stands up.
Boy: "I knew you'd still come to my rescue. Thank you." he said with a bright smile
The warrior comes out from the trees.
Warrior: "I told you I wouldn't save you this time. Why do you keep coming back here?" she asked him.
The boy walks toward the tree and picks up a curved sword.
Boy: "I have a question for you."
Warrior: "Go ahead and ask. I don't promise an answer." she said camly.
Boy: "Why? Why do you live in the woods alone? Why do you risk your life to save strangers? Why do you protect the village? Why?" he asked the Warrior
The warrior takes the sword from the boy.
Warrior:" That's five questions. But they all have the same answer. I live here alone because I am alone. And as a general rule, I don't like people. Most of my own people were killed long ago. My family, everyone I've ever known, is dead. And if there are other survivors like me, they're scattered all over ." she said looking down at the floor.
Boy: "Killed by the Grimm?" he asked her.
Warrior: "Murdered by other people." she replied to his question.
Boy: "Oh... But then why do you protect others?"
Warrior: "Because I can. Because no one else will. And because some people are good like you. And that gives me hope." she said as a smile seemed to appear on her face.
The warrior gives the sword back to the boy.
Warrior: "Why do you keep coming back to the woods?" she asked him.
Boy: "You spent all these years looking after us. I thought maybe it would be nice if someone looked after you for a change." he said with asmile as the Warrior sighed before she smiled back at the boy.
Warrior: "Well, don't come back."
The boy smiles back at the warrior.

Of course, he would come back, but not for another year.

The scene transitions to a girl playing with her kite. The girl becomes scared as she encounters three beowolves.

.
The villagers wondered why the monsters had returned. But the boy, now a young man, he knew that they had never left. That until now, the village had been protected by an unseen warrior.

The girl is still afraid until the young man came to protect her and fought the beowolves.
And on the appointed day of his annual visit, he fought tirelessly to find her. Only this time, she was nowhere to be found.

The young man arrives at the abandoned home.
.
.
.
The woods would become too dangerous without their guardian. But the young man was going to do his best to protect the village in her place.
.

The young man picks up the warrior's sword and stares his reflection, before looking down in sadness realizing that he'd lost her.

.
.
And finally tell others of her story. So they would always know who they had to thank for the many years of good days that they'd enjoyed.

The young man hears the Grimm growling and prepares to confront with two swords.
Villager: "Why did you keep going back there, year after year?" he asked the young man.
Young Man: "Because that's what I could do. Because no one else would. Because... I fell for her." he said as he thought about the warrior in the woods the first time she saw her face..
Young Man:" The moment I saw her silver eyes.......
