5. Attached By Hand

The Mexican night air was cool and calming yet it did nothing to Krislynn's foul mood. She was starting to think that maybe digging her nose into other people's business was not a good idea. That was, after all, how she had gotten herself handcuffed to Chase Evans for the next 24 hours.

Usually, she wasn't the type to start up a conflict. She was surprisingly outgoing and optimistic about unreasonable people and even more so towards unreasonable situations, but if it's one thing that completely sends her off the edge, it's people like Chase. Krislynn couldn't stand people who were arrogant and thought they knew everybody's story for the life of her. What right did they have to be judgemental?

"This is so cruel," she muttered walking out of the police station with Chase right beside her. "Even Jigsaw gave his victims an alternative option."

"Look. If you want a knife, I'll hand you one," Chase offered. "But if I give it to you, I better start seeing some blood---I better see that arm twitching like a dying fish on the floor. You got that?"

Krislynn only glared at him for a split second before kicking her ankle out to trip him. The next scene played out like a movie on the big screen set on slow motion. Chase twisted his body around as he fell, his eyes glaring at his prosecutor, his mouth in a big 'O' as a long, dragged on 'NOOOOOOO' escaped his lips.

Absolutely delighted by the horrified look on his face, Krislynn put her free hand over her stomach and burst into laughter. She was so enthralled by this matter that she had completely forgotten her other hand was attached to his so when Chase tugged his wrist in angry vengeance, she had no idea what hit her until she came tumbling down after him. Her body toppled on top of him as her lips mashed up against his.

They both screamed at the same time as Krislynn peeled her lips away and sat up straddling his hips. A thick burn invaded her lips as her cheeks flushed and before she even realized what was happening, she slapped him across the face---the second time within the hour.

Chase stared up at her with bitter rage. "What the hell was that for?" He screamed. "You slapped me? After you took advantage of me?! What is the world coming to?!"

"I did not take advantage of you," she retorted, her fingers lightly tapping against her swollen lips. "You were the one that pulled me down---you took advantage of me!"

"Why would anyone take advantage of you?" He snorted, wiping his mouth with the side of his arm in disgust. "I mean, seriously! I wouldn't touch you even if you begged me to---even if you paid me too! Now get off of me!"

Krislynn let out a growl before gripping the collar of his shirt and shaking him with it. "Why do you have to be such a jerk?"

"I said get off of me, you twat," he barked. "Now! Or you're going to regret it. Get off now. I mean it!"

Abruptly, Krislynn stopped and let go of his shirt. "What... is that?" She asked, feeling something unidentified touching her below.

"Shit," Chase grumbled, running his hand through his hair. "You should have just gotten off when I told you to. Now, it's sort of late."

Krislynn narrowed her eyes at him, her mouth agape. "So then... what is that?"

Chase raised an eyebrow at her. "What... do you think it is?"

"Ewwwwww..." Quickly, she rolled off of him and the two of them managed to get back on their feet with some minor difficulties. "So much for not wanting to take advantage of me even if I paid you," she sneered.

"Hey," Chase barked. "That has nothing to do with it. Did you realize you were straddling me? That you were grinding your butt against me when you were shaking me?"

"I was not grinding against you, you perv!"

"Yes you were! Your hands were grabbing my collar and your body was sort of moving from my body moving and your butt was sort of sliding up and down-"

"I was not," she screamed.

"Whatever. Just shut it. The point is," he began. "The point is I'm a man and you're..." He stopped briefly and ran his eyes up and down her body for a full check out. "...not a man."

"What?!" She shrieked. "That's all you have to say? That I'm not a man?"

"Therefore," he said while ignoring her. "There're just things that I can't control even if I want to."

Krislynn rolled her eyes and snorted. "Well, good to know that you got aroused by something that's not a man this time Chase Evans. Congratulations."

Chase rolled his hand into a fist and brought it up to her head, watching her squeal and coward before him. "Don't hit me. I'm sorry. I'm sorry." She cried.

Softly, he nudged his fist against the side of her head before bringing his arm back down. "Don't test me," he growled. "I hate this as much as you do."

Krislynn quickly nodded before opening her eyes to study him. He watched the way she looked up at him through her eyelashes---or maybe it was just the way she had to look at him because of her significantly lower height-and was amazed by the clear cerulean of her eyes. Funny how he never noticed it until now.

Shaking the evocative color of her eyes out of his head, he said, "Since we're going to be like this for the next 24 hours, let's try to behave alright? We're probably better off putting up with each other than tearing each other's head off at arm's length."

"That's fine with me," she muttered. "Should we get back to the hotel then? And whose room are we going to be staying at tonight?"

Chase nodded and they started their way toward the resort. "Mine obviously."

"Why?" She yelled, turning her head to glare at him.

Already, Chase could tell they weren't going to make it. This girl was just inclined to challenge everything he says or does. Sighing, he said, "Okay. Know what? Let's just settle this Rock Paper Scissors. Then there's nothing to fight over."

"Okay. Perfect. You ready? Rock. Paper. Scissors."

Rock.

Scissors.

"I win," Chase said and started walking only to be stopped by the chain linked to Krislynn's wrist. "What now?"

"Two out of three," she said.

"Isn't once enough?" He snapped. "Don't be such a sore loser!"

"Why do we have to go to your room," she snarled. "What are you planning to do to me once we're in there?"

"Oh my God! Are you serious? Okay. Fine. Let's do this. I don't want you going around calling me a pervert."

Second round:

Rock.

Scissors.

"Okay, see. I win. Can we go now?"

"No," she whined. "The last one is worth three points."

"Are you-" Running his fingers through his hair, he swallowed his annoyance. "Fine. Fine. Give me all you've got bitch."

Third round:

Rock.

Scissors.

"What the hell," she yelled after they were done. "Why did you use rock for all three turns?"

"Well, I don't know. Why did you use scissors?!"

Krislynn stomped her foot on the ground in anger. "This is so unfair."

"It is fair," he muttered, using their handcuff as a leash and tugging on her to follow. "Now come along princess."

Grunting, she stomped after him. "I just want you to know that I'm not happy," she grumbled.

"And I'm happy to know you think I care."

"Can't you walk slower? You're walking too fast and the handcuffs are digging into my skin."

"No."

"Why can't we stay in my room? Your room probably smells like baby prostitutes."

Chase gritted his teeth and pushed forward down the street.

"Hey Chase?"

"What?" He growled, spinning around. "You're just trying to piss me off now!"

"Am not," she retorted, sticking her lips out in a pout as the wind picked up her auburn hair and pushed it back. "Okay. Maybe I was, but this time, it's serious."

Sighing, Chase nodded. "Fine. What is it?"

Hesitantly, she bit on her lower lip---something Chase noticed she did often. "I have to pee."

"I'm so close to strangling you," he replied before taking a deep breath in and a deep breath out. "Okay. Fine. Do it." With that said, he turned around so his back faced her.

Krislynn blinked. "Why did you just turn around like that?" She asked.

"Why do you think?"
