"Look what we got here."

Evan and Angie both turned their heads in the direction the voice came from. It was one of the last people they'd like to meet in their town. Michael Saunders was a wolf from their pack. He was two years older than them, and one of the pack members who truly enjoyed staying with the pack. He was a werewolf heart and soul and was even training to become one of the guardians of the pack. No wonder they didn't get along. And since he didn't get along with him, Angie did neither. A true bond of friendship.

"Michael," he said through clenched teeth and hoped he'd get the hint. Just his name sounded like an insult in Evan's head.

"Evan, so nice to see you. Not that we do that often since someone doesn't like to participate in pack business," Michael sniggered at him. His expression oozed confidence and Evan thought of a million ways to wipe that smirk off his face.

"Fuck off, Michael," Angie didn't hold back. Evan chuckled. Goddess, Evan really loved her at the moment. Michael, on the other hand, didn't find it funny.

"Angela, snotty as always." He tried to look like it didn't bother him, but all of them knew the truth. And so did his frowning eyebrows.

For the longest time, Evan made fun of Angie, telling her that his whole act was just because he was secretly in love with her. He stopped when she reminded me that she was not the one he was always addressing first. Well, she also added that he shouldn't forget he was already 18 and mateless, so he probably jerked off after each of their arguments 'cause he found them hot. Gross.

"Don't you have friends to bother?" Evan asked him, hoping he would leave before their friends' arrival. He knew Michael would find a way to blackmail him with that information even when it wasn't anything huge. He would probably tell everyone that he sneaked out to meet some city skanks or something, and he certainly didn't need that.

"I'm pretty sure I have more friends than you do. I just like spending time with you two." Michael smiled obnoxiously.

Yuck, Evan didn't like imagining why he could possibly like that.

"If I wanted to do charity, I would be babysitting for free. Seeing you, fuckface, is the opposite of the vacation for me. Can you finally fuck off?" With every other word Angie said, Michael's scowl got worse. In the end, Evan wasn't sure if he was more angry or irked. Both seemed like good options to Evan.

"Bye, bitch." Evan waved at him with a sweet smile. Just in time, since he saw the right bus approaching them and stand up, grabbing Angie in the process.

"I have better things to do anyway, scrubs." Fortunately, Michael finally took the hint and went the opposite way. Evan sighed mentally in relief. He didn't need Michael to have blackmail material on him.

"One day, I'll slap him so hard, he'll lose his eyesight," Angie said in a low tone, probably hoping he wouldn't hear her and come back.

"Right. Before or after you help him with his little problem?" Evan remarked with a smirk. She looked at him with a disbelieving look, giving him the last chance to run. Not that it would stop him from cackling.

"Fuck off!" Angie pushed me with little too much strength, and since he was too busy laughing, he ended up on the ground.

"Snotty as always," he repeated Michael's words on purpose, still sitting on the cold hard ground. She went to hit him again but eventually did not since the bus stopped right behind her back.

"I have no idea how the hell you two survived so long being friends with each other," was the first thing Lola said when she got off the bus. The others followed right behind her.

"For real, we saw you, beating his ass from miles away," Josh added. Evan wasn't paying him much attention cause right after him, Kieran got off. His blue-eyed dream.

"Hey," Evan greeted him and finally stood up. If he wasn't so carried away by him, he might have made a joke about how his beauty swept him away, so he ended up on the ground.

"Hey," Kieran smiled at him and came closer. As always, he looked handsome as hell.

His hair was a little messy today, with a few wispy hairs resting close to his eyes. It drew attention to his ocean eyes even more than usual. And so did the dark grey T-shirt he was wearing. Evan was sure he knew exactly what he was doing to him.

"Yeah, sorry to interrupt your little date, but we're here too."

"Aiden, hey, didn't notice you," Evan remarked sarcastically, and his friend just rolled his eyes. It was obviously a sign that they were spending too much time together.

"Right, since we established Evan's asshole, can we just move away from the station?" Lola intervened. Evan gave her a puppy dog look to let her know how deeply her words hurt him. But she was more interested in Angie's next words.

"Wanna grab some coffee?" Angie asked, and everyone seemed content with the idea.

They left the station together, Evan walking a little too close to Kieran, but he couldn't care less. He guessed he really liked to live on the edge sometimes. He just hoped he wouldn't end up like every movie character who fell for the deep blue eyes before. With a broken heart, a pile of letters, and an unhealthy addiction to imagining scenarios that will never happen. Well, except for Magnus Bane.

"You okay?" Kieran asked him. Their hands brushed, and Evan looked up.

"Fine," he answered honestly, letting his eyes slip to his lips, "well, more than fine, actually." He just couldn't help himself. The only time his lips could press against his was when no one was around and that didn't happen often. He was in serious deficit.

"Can you two already kiss? I think I'm losing brain cells every time I hear you two flirt." Josh interrupted their small moment. This got other's attention as they stopped and looked at the couple.

"20 bucks says that they are secretly screwing," Angie proclaimed. That bitch, Evan thought to himself. She knew they weren't. He was pathetically (or rather hypocritically) saving his virginity for his mate, and she knew that.

"I'm not losing my money on something obvious." Lola glanced at her as if she was crazy.

"We're not," Evan said, his words full of irritancy. He still felt guilty about how he had handled their relationship with Kieran and comments like this made him feel even worse.

"Well, you should. You're too uptight." He glared at Josh. Evan felt Kieran slightly touching his hand and squeezing it for a short while. Evan felt his level of annoyance slowly decrease.

"Guys, can't you just mind your own business?" Kieran stepped in. If they weren't in North Hallson right now, Evan would definitely kiss him. His knight in shining armour. A little smile occurred on his lips.

"Can we at least get a kiss? Do it for your squad," Lola teased them with a grin on her face.

"Not here," Evan briskly dismissed her idea. She looked startled, and she wasn't the only one. Everyone, except for Angie, was looking at him as if he grew another head. Those two short words could have multiple meanings and he hoped none of his friends had such a bad image of him that they thought he was ashamed of Kieran.

"His parents might be homophobic," Angie quickly said in his defence. Partly, he was glad, but at the same time, he knew it wasn't exactly the right thing to say. His parents weren't homophobes, just oblivious to the fact his mate was a guy. If it was possible, they were more of humanphobes. Not that they hated humans, they just didn't think that having a relationship with them was a good choice.

"Fuck, I'm sorry. I didn't know," Lola apologized, her eyes filled with remorse.

"That sucks, bro, but we are always here for you, alright?" Aiden said and even put his hand on Evan's shoulder. Evan felt touched. It was at moments like these that he hated having to hide such a big secret from his friends. They were amazing, and Evan was more than grateful to have them. Without them, his life would be a mess.

"Alright, alright, just stop with the sentiment." Despite his words, Lola leaned towards him and took him in a tight hug. From the other side, he felt Josh pat his shoulder supportively.

Has he mentioned before how much he loved these guys? His parents used to tell him that there wasn't a bond that was even slightly as strong as the pack one, but with every moment like this, Evan highly doubted that. His friends were his secret little pack, and he loved that with his whole heart.
