Theo's POV:
I wake up early as always. I'm a morning person. I get up and immediately hop in the shower. Ive always loved a good morning shower. Once I'm done, I go into my closet and get dressed. While leaving my closet, I couldn't help but look over at the second closet in my room. Yes I have two closets. I have two of everything. Ever since I learned of mates, that's all I've ever wanted. So I prepared, I have a bunch of stuff and space. Hell, I even asked my female relatives to teach me about women's periods. I know it seems kinda extensive but I want to be the best mate I could possibly be. I got a lot of things from my dad. Some not so good. Yes I am a loving,fun, goofy guy but if I get pissed off all I see is red. No matter how small of thing. Ive seen it happen to my dad a few times and thank god he has my mom. And if my mate does just half what my dad says my mom does than there's no way I could ever be worthy of her as a mate. Hence why I'm trying to make sure I'm the perfect mate. Anyways, as I make my way downstairs, I happen to hear bits of a conversation between Carter and Sean. It sounds like there might be another bet. Which I will not be participating in. Ive learned my lesson. I decide to intervene before anything can be said. Last thing we need is another grooming appointment.
"Hey guys, Xaviers been wanting to go for a run are you guys in?" They both look shocked at first but quickly recover. Carter just shrugs and goes to get changed. I don't think he's ever passed up a chance to run. Sean however, turns to me with a smug look.
"Hey Theo, how would you like to bet......." I growl immediately cutting him off.
"No bets. It's bad enough that I have pink ears and a pink tail. I don't need anything else done to me. I seriously think you dont play fair with your bets." He just gives me a sly smile.
"Oh ya. I forgot you got groomed. I can't wait to see how Xavier looks all clean and neat." I just roll my eyes.
"Don't start." Just then Carter comes back. We all head out and shift. I noticed that Sean didn't shift at the same time. When I come back out and Sean sees me he immediately drops to the ground laughing. I let out a low growl that he ignores. I decide screw it and just take off running. Leaving him and Carter to do whatever.
Ive been running for about five minutes when I start to smell my mate. I immediately get worried. It's early out and shes alone. She could get hurt. I follow her sent and then finally I'm only a few feet away from her. I stay around for a bit hoping to go unnoticed. Man did that fail. Not even five minutes later, she stops and yells out to see if anyone's out there. I decide maybe that's my chance. I shift back and grab some clothes. And before you ask, yes I have clothes stashed in the woods. It's not weird for us wolves to do that. Especially if we get angry easily. I get dressed and run ahead of her so I can hopefully 'accidentally' bump into her.
Luckily, my plan worked. We started talking a bit and I gotta say when she said friendship it hurt a bit. There's no way I was going to be stuck in the friend zone with her. If she only knew what I wanted to do. After talking a little bit she offers for me to join her on her fun then get breakfast. I couldn't have been happier. I was hoping to ask her but I am perfectly find with her asking me. I have to remember to go at human speed with this. If I dont i could scare her away permanently.
We start running and I couldn't help but notice that when we weren't talking, she would check me out a bit. I was happy she was checking me out because in the end I'm all hers and she's all mine. Even if she doesn't know it yet. We keep running and making small talk. I learn a bunch of stuff about her. Like how she wants to be a vet, her favorite color is a light baby blue, and so much more. We are just about to finish the run and to say I'm sad is the least of it. When we finally reach the coffee shop I had to say its cute. Not a big chain coffee shop, looks like a cute ma and pa's coffee shop.
As we make our way in, I am hit with the aroma of coffee and gourmet pastries. I think I found my new favorite smell. Obviously second to my mate. Nothing can compete with her. As we walk up to the counter, the old man walks around and hugs my mate. It takes every ounce of control not to growl and rip him off of her right there and then. Somehow I manage. We get our coffee and pastries after Alex says her hellos and such. I thought we were going to sit and talk but just as I was about to ask, her phone goes off. She talks to her friend for a bit and then hangs up.
"Hey, I'm so sorry. I lost track of time and I'm supposed to hang out with my friend in an hour. Is it okay if we finish up this conversation another time?" I put up a fake small smile. As much as i would love to say no, I can't. She should hang out with her friend and have fun.
"Of course I hope you have a great time with your friend." I really hope I don't sound too disappointed. I don't want her to think what shes doing is wrong because its not.
"Thank you so much for understanding." She goes to give me a big hug, which I'm more than willing to accept. Just as I think she's about to leave, she turns to me with a slight blush. "By any chance could I get your number? I just realize I never asked." Now I'm full on shocked. I have no clue how I almost forgot to get her number but man am I happy she had the guts to ask me. I would've felt like a complete idiot by the time I got back home if I hadn't asked. Anyways, I give her my phone number and we exchange our goodbyes. I can't wait for the time I don't have to say goodbye to her. With that, I take off into the woods and head home.
