(Y/N)'s pov

It was early morning when I sprang out of bed just to see Marlene standing before me. It was the big day. My first quidditch game at Hogwarts. Best of all, it was against Slytherin.

"Mornin'," Marlene smiled. "Excited for today?"

"How can I not be?" I smirked, standing out of bed. Classes were canceled for today so everyone can prepare themselves for the game. I had so much serotonin and energy, I could hardly stop moving. I slipped on some clothes and my quidditch sweater in the bathroom. I stared at myself proudly in the mirror. I couldn't wait for the game.

"(Y/n)? You ready?" Marlene asked, knocking on the bathroom door. I opened the door widely.

"Ready."

Marlene and I exited the dorm and walked down to the common room. In the common room we saw Gryffindors rumbling around in house colored clothes and makeup. I spotted James and Sirius in the corner of my eye. James was practically jumping up and down with excitement, explaining to Sirius all of his techniques to win. Sirius laid against the wall, unamusingly listening to James. I caught Sirius's attention and he quickly strided to Marlene and I.

"Morning, ladies." Sirius cooly nodded his head.

"Mornin' Black, mornin' Potter." Marlene nodded her head in the same cool manner as Sirius.

Marlene was very interesting and very cool. Marlene would take health classes taught by Madam Pompfrey whenever she could. She would often tell me how Madam Pompfrey has been her idol since day one and how she wishes to be a healer someday. Marlene was very knowledgeable, but also gifted in quidditch. She was an amazing beater, but she would always say that she doesn't see a future with it. She also has an amazing music taste. Marlene was kind and smart. She was her own person.

"Hey Marlene, hey (y/n)." James said, enthusiastically. He was very hyper and wouldn't stop moving -which made his hair even more messy and his glasses fall to the tip of his nose. "Big game today."

"We know," Sirius rolled his eyes, letting out an exaggerated sigh. "You won't shut up about it."

Sirius was telling the truth. Anytime James had the chance to mention the game, he would. He would also try to use his plans to impress Lily, but that didn't work and perhaps never will.

"Merlin's beard, I'm starving," Sirius whined. "James spent the whole bloody morning talking about quidditch."

"Just wait till I'm captain," James winked.

"Wonderful," I fakely smiled, raising my brows.

"Can we get some breakfast? I'm hungry!" Sirius whined, pulling on James's sleeve.

"Yes, yes," the quidditch geek sighed, patting Sirius's head. "We're gonna head over to the Great Hall, wanna come?" James asked, smiling at Marlene and I.

"I can use some bacon before the match." Marlene shrugged, leaving the Gryffindor common room and leading the rest of us to the Great Hall.

~~~
The Great Hall was filled with students. The Gryffindor and Slytherin tables were filled with house pride while the other houses were prepping for the match. Dahlia and the rest of the team sat all the way down the Gryffindor table, whispering to each other and giving the Slytherin quidditch team a few glares.
Over at the Slytherin table, the Slytherin quidditch team was sitting together and the only people I was able to recognize on the team was Regulus and Evan Rosier. Their team had no girls, unlike ours.
"Hey!" Dahlia shouted, calling the four of us over. James strutted proudly to the rest of the quidditch team while the rest of us strutted along.
"Excited for today's match?" James questioned Dahlia, smirking as he sat down. Sirius sat beside the quidditch geek as Marlene and I sat together closer to the middle of the table, not far from the quidditch team.
"Of course I am," the quidditch captain smiled. "(Y/n)," Dahlia said. "How are you feeling? It's your first game after all."
"It's not the first game I've ever played, y'know?" I smirked, cocking a brow. "I'm prepared, mentally and physically."
"Glad to see you so confident," Kelly, (our team's keeper) beamed.
"I can't lie, the Slytherin team is good." Dahlia whispered, leaning forward so only our team can hear.
"They may be good, but we're better," I replied, cooly.
"Don't get too bold, (y/n)." Janelle (one of the chasers on our team) warned. "Regulus Black, y'know 'em?"
"I know a few things about him..." I answered, hesitantly. "I know he's the seeker for the Slytherin team."
"Well, he's a very talented seeker," Janelle finished.
"Fascinating! I always enjoy a good competition," I smirked as I served myself toast.
After awhile, the team started discussing together, but I was independent with my own thoughts. I was thinking about the game and what techniques I should use.
"Hey," I heard, which interrupted my thoughts. I glanced up to see who it was, but it was easy to recognize the same fiery red hair and emerald green eyes I was so familiar with.
"Hey Lils," I smiled, continuing to eat my breakfast. "Ready for the game?" I smiled at Lily's house pride. Gryffindor colors were across her eye lids and she wore bold, red lipstick. Lily wore Lion earrings and had gold specks across her face.
"Yup, I can't wait to see you play again!" Lily squealed, hugging me from behind before she sat down.
Lily and I started our own conversation about the match and what cheers she was planning to use. Our conversation was just us two, until James "Quidditch Geek" Potter noticed Lily Evans.
"Hello there, Evans." James smirked, placing his chin on the palm of his hand. "Fine morning, isn't it?"
"Lovely," Lily said, plainly and unamused. James had a childish grin as Lily stared blankly at the quidditch geek.
"Someone's thrilled to see me," James teased.
"Of course, because it's always a pleasure to see your face." Lily sighed sarcastically, rolling her eyes.
"Y'know Evans, you didn't have to get all dressed up for me." James couldn't stop grinning at Lily's makeup and her adorable lion earrings. James would grin at Lily no matter what she was wearing, and I think it's the cutest thing in the whole wizarding and no-maj world.
"This is house pride, Potter. It's for the support of my friends -and that's not including you and Black." Lily responded, sourly, crossing her arms. James was unbothered. He kept smiling at her, which bugged Lily.
"I like the way you say my last name. Perhaps it can be yours one day." James said, swiftly.
"Smooth," I chuckled under my breath and I saw Sirius trying to hide his smile. Sirius and I were listening to their very interesting conversation and we both watched the scene unfold.
"I would rather drink unicorn blood," Lily responded within a heart beat.
"Mhm, right," James fakely nodded his head, not believing Lily.
"I'm serious," Lily said, firmly.
"Oh, but you're wrong," James shook his head slowly. "He's Sirius," the quidditch geek pointed jokingly to his best friend beside him. The two boys started to laugh uncontrollably, leaning against each other for support. Lily scoffed at their immaturity.
"Good luck" was the last thing Lily said before she stood up and left the Great Hall.
"Did you see that, (y/n)?" James whispered, excitedly, sliding down the table to face me. "She's growing onto me, I know it." James's cheeks were pink and he had the biggest smile on his face. I laughed at James.
"It just takes time," I smiled.
~~~

It was finally time to get ready for the game, so the team and I started to head over to the quidditch changing room.

"You gotta be careful with the Slytherin beaters." Dahlia told me on our way there.

"Shouldn't I be careful with beaters in general?"

"Yes, but we're talking about Slytherin beaters. They're sneaky and aggressive at the same ti-" Dahlia was trying to say something but stopped herself. She was looking ahead of us and the rest of the team followed her eyes. Ahead of us was the Slytherin quidditch team and they were standing right by the changing rooms. They were already wearing their pretty green jerseys. The Slytherin team must've noticed us because they were now walking in our direction.

"Just great," Marlene scoffed.

"Look at what we got here," one of the Slytherin quidditch boys smirked. The Slytherin team was now right in front of us. There was a boy in front and the rest of the Slytherin team crowded behind him.

'He must be the quidditch captain of the Slytherin team,' I assumed. Dahlia stood before all of us, making the two of them face to face.

"Mulciber," Dahlia said, flavorlessly.

"That's Mulciber." Sirius whispered in my ear, pointing at the same boy in front of Dahlia.

"So I heard," I said with a cocked brow.

Sirius tsked. "He's the captain of the Slytherin team."

"That's a bit obvious, don't you think?"  I questioned Sirius, turning my head to look at him.

"Oh, sod off," he grumbled and put his focus back on the two teams.

I looked back at Mulciber. He was tall and bulky. I have to admit, he was a bit intimidating, but I wouldn't let that show.

"Ready to lose, Walker?" The Slytherin quidditch captain sneered. "We'll go easy, don't worry."

"No way, Mulciber," Dahlia responded. "We're ready to win."

"Right because a bunch of blood traitors will beat us, -a bunch of strong, pureblood men." The Slytherin team whispered and snickered to each other.

"Gender doesn't have anything to do with quidditch," I said, firmly. I took a few steps forward and faced Mulciber. He had dog breath and hell-ish eyes, but I tried not to focus on those things, I had important words to say.

"And blood purity doesn't effect any roles in this game," I continued. "It's about skill and strength. That can be found in anyone." Mulciber was glaring right at me and I glared back.

"Well, well, well," a familiar voice hissed beside Mulciber. I stopped glaring at Mulciber and looked beside him. Standing next to him was Evan Rosier. I turned to face Evan with a blank expression. "Mudblood here thinks she knows what she's talking about."

The word "mudblood" made a few of my teammates scoff and made James and Sirius defensive. There were "oooo's" coming from the other team -as if Evan Rosier was a badass. I'm surprised Sirius didn't jump him like how he did with Snape on my first day.

"I'm terribly hurt by your word choice, Rosier," I acted, sourly. "But I hope you know that you are not as badass as you think you are. Also the fact that hurting me isn't as easy as you think."

"I might not be able to hurt you mentally, (l/n), but that doesn't mean I can't hurt you physically." Evan snapped, about to take a step forward and do who knows what to me, but someone pulled him back.

Regulus held the back of Evan's jersey, pulling him back and away from me. James grabbed my arm and pulled me back with him and Sirius.

"Hey, are you okay?" James asked once I was a few feet away from Evan.

"I'm fine," I shrugged James off and focused on the scene that was unraveling.

"What the bloody hell are you doing?" Evan questioned Regulus. Regulus seemed calm on the outside, but who knew what was going in that boy's mind.

"Save it for the game, Evan. It'll make our win much more pleasant." Regulus said and Rosier huffed, crossing his arms like a child. A minute passed and the two teams were glaring at each other, but I looked over at Regulus.

"Thank you," I mouthed with a small smile. Regulus just nodded his head in response.

"Is there a problem here?" Madam Hooch asked, appearing almost out of nowhere. The two teams stopped their glares and relaxed.

"No, Madam Hooch." Mulciber and Dahlia said in unison.

"We were just about to get ready," Dahlia answered on her own.

"Good," Madam Hooch responded. "You wouldn't want to be late to your own game."
