A tall dark haired boy had walked up to me. Randomly. "Oh thanks." I said, putting the headphones around my neck. "I'm Ponyboy." He said. "I'm Y/n." "Very nice to meet you. If you don't mind, I'd like to sit here with you. You are sitting alone anyway." He said.
"Oh, not at all." I said. He sits in front of me. "Why do I always see you sitting on this table alone?" He asked. "Well I don't know, I like to be alone. I'm not good at making friends anyway." I said. "Well, may I be your friend?"
"Sure." I smiled. I put my headphones back on but leaving one ear uncovered. "What are ya listening to?" He asks. "Uh, Kiss Me More by Doja Cat and SZA." I said. "May I listen?" He said. I handed him the headphones and played the song. He started bopping his head to it. He took it off.
"You've got some good taste." He said. "Thanks." I replied and continued listening to the music while eating. "I'm not bothering you, am I?" "Oh not at all. It's just, barely anyone cool or someone's who's been around here for a long time comes up to this table." I said.
"You think I'm cool?" He asked. "Well you look popular. And cool, I guess." I said. "Well I don't think I am. I'm lame. Those three guys over there are complete jerks. And we're greasers." He said, pointing to where he usually sits.
"Greasers? What's that?" I asked. "Your not from around here are you?" He said. I shook my head. "You're new?" "Well I've been here for the past 3 weeks but I guess you can say that." I said. "Where are ya from then?"
"Alaska." "Whoa, that's far. What are you doing here?" He asked. "Dad's a rich man. A busy one too." I said. "Wow, must be great having a rich father." "Well. Yes and no. Yes because he's rich. No because I don't get to see him often, and all I really want is to spend more time with him." I said.
"Oh I'm sorry. I guess being rich is gonna make you a Soc." He said. " A Soc?"
"Oh right I forgot to explain. So, here in Tulsa, there's such things as Greasers and Socs. Greasers, people think we're the bad guys and that were all like Dallas Winston. We're not so rich like Socs. Socs, they are the rich kids, people consider them the nice ones. When really, they jump us Greasers." He said.
"Good explanation. But who is Dallas Winston? And what do you mean by 'jump'?" I asked. He chuckled. "Dallas Winston is my buddy over there. He's smoking a cigarette. And the term 'jump' is technically attacked." He said.
"You're a fine doll. How about I show you all over Tulsa? It'll be fun." He said. "That'll be great. I really need it." I said.
