(Y/N)'s pov

"What did you mean?" I asked Regulus, rapidly.

It was the Sunday after Sirius's birthday and the Sunday before the Slytherin vs. Gryffindor quidditch match. Regulus and I had just entered the cottage together and the whole "You're like sirius," thing has been on my mind for the past week. It was stuck in my head no matter what. Listening to music? The thought is still there. Studying for future O.W.L.s? The thought is still there. Practicing quidditch? The thought was still there. I was eager to know what Regulus meant -if he did mean anything.

"Pardon?" He said, walking further in the cottage. I stood by the closed door.

"'You're like sirius,'" I requoted, and Regulus froze, his back facing me. "What did you mean?" I asked again.

"I...I don't know," Regulus whispered and turned around. His eyes looking at every little thing, but me. "It sort of just...slipped out. I-I meant to call you beautiful, and it's true, but...I dunno. Sirius is the brightest star in our night sky, you know that, but I just think you're very um...bright." Regulus answered, mumbling over his words. He made no sense, and he knew he didn't. He didn't understand himself either. Regulus let out a heavy sigh.

"You know when you look up in the night sky, and the first thing you notice is sirius." Regulus started, staring at the floor. I didn't respond, and he continued. "When someone walks into a room...the first thing that they would notice is...you." Regulus didn't look at anything else but the floor. He didn't want to look up. He didn't want me to see his rogue pink cheeks. Regulus was flustered. I could feel my heart swell.

"You remind me of the moon." I whispered a minute after Regulus finished. "Very subtle, but always changing. You may not see it all the time...but it's there." I paused for a moment, thinking of what I should say next.

"Usually..." I said, faintly. "When I look up at the night sky, the first thing I notice is the moon. The moon isn't always there, but when it is, it's hard not to notice it."

It made sense.

In a way.

Regulus wasn't always there. Regulus wasn't always with me. That's when he kept hidden. Nobody notices, but he's there. Regulus isn't the kind to shine. But when we're together...
things are different. He doesn't have to hide. He can be his true self. He can be his full moon.

"Thank you," Regulus whispered, shyly.

"The moon's beautiful too, y'know?"

"Yeah..." Regulus sighed. Silence descended over us."I have to use the loo," Regulus said, quickly. So quick, it sounded like a single word.

"Alright," I responded.

"Alright," Regulus sniffed, rushing to the loo.

Regulus's pov

I leaned against a wall in the small restroom as I played with my ring. I needed privacy to think properly.

'The moon's beautiful too? I remind
(y/n) of the moon? What does that mean?' I questioned internally. This is probably the thoughts (y/n) had when I told her she was like sirius. I sighed and slowly unlocked the restroom door, trying not to make a noise. I opened the door slightly, just enough to peep my head out. (Y/n) sat in her usual spot on the window seat, reading peacefully. I thought about it. 'Was (y/n) just a star? Specifically, sirius?'

No, she wasn't. (Y/n) had something. She was positive, warm, and comforting. (Y/n) was noticeable and bold. What was she?

I shook my head, making the thoughts disappear and deciding to leave the loo. I open the door widely and stepped out. I sat across (y/n), but she didn't look away from her book. I looked outside the window, noticing all of the wildflowers and trees. The sky was a pretty shade of gray-blue and there were more clouds than usual. The weather was getting much cooler as it got closer to December. The clouds covered sections of the sun, making the outside seem a bit dim.

"Pretty, isn't it?" (Y/n) said, suddenly. I looked to the side, seeing a closed book in (y/n)'s lap, and (y/n) looking out the window.

"Yeah, pretty," I smiled as (y/n) looked back at me.

"So," she said, acting cool. "Excited for Friday?"

Friday. Slytherin vs. Gryffindor. I can't believe it was already here.

"Ooh, very," I smirked, I felt my competitive nature blooming. "Nervous? I know it's your first game, and I'm pretty good." I said, trying to scare her.

"Not at all," she crossed her arms. "I'm on a team with James -the quidditch geek according to your brother- and we have been preparing for this game for awhile now. You may be pretty good, Reg, but I know I'm good, and I know I'm better."

"So that's what you think-"

"That's what I know." (Y/n) cut me off. I noticed that (y/n) was much more competitive than I was, and her confident mindset was too strong to break down.

"I know I'm good too."

"Oh, I'm sure you are, Reggie, but that's why I said I was better." I began to get a little scared myself. (Y/n) gave me a raised brow and her face was very strict a d challenging at the moment.

"We'll see about that." I said -which made (y/n)'s eyebrow relax and she grew the Gryffindor smirk on her face.

"Sure. We'll see," (y/n) shrugged. We proceeded to stare each other down, but not for long. "What's the adventure for today?" (Y/n) asked, setting her book on the floor.

"I don't know. You usually have an idea."

"Hmm..." She hummed, taking a minute to think. "How about a walk?" (Y/n) suggested. I looked out the window. The sky was covered with more clouds and the sun barely shined. It was oddly comforting and the outside looked calm and beautiful.

"Sure," I smiled. We stood up and started to head out the door. We walked outside and took a moment to soak in the view. The weather was fresh and the pollen of nearby trees smelled clean. We started to walk near the cottage, but (y/n) being (y/n), we started to walk deeper into the forest.

"Reg, over here!" (Y/n) yelled. It was a path created by mushrooms. The path was narrow, just enough room for two people to walk beside each other. The mushrooms were large, brown, and covered in dirt. I didn't think much of it.

"Cool?" I said with confusion.

"Really? You see a beautiful path in a beautiful forest and all you say is "cool"?" (Y/n) questioned, unamused and cocking a brow.

"Well, what do you want me to say?"

(Y/n) rolled her eyes as she sighed. "Let's just follow the path." (Y/n) grabbed my hand, leading me to path. We would usually grab each other's hand -and it was a big difference from holding hands. It was more of a way to drag each other around than anything else. But (y/n) didn't let go. We had our hands close, palm to palm. I didn't know how to react, so I slipped my hand away, looking the other direction as I did -just to avoid any form of awkwardness. (Y/n) brought her hand back to herself, playing with her fingers. I felt guilty.

'I should've never let go.' I thought, and because of my regret, I walked closer beside (y/n). I reached out my hand from my side, grabbing (y/n)'s, and locking our pinkies. I didn't look at her. I didn't want her to see me with pink cheeks and I didn't want to see her proud Gryffindor smirk. I knew my face was red, I felt it burning, so I turned my head to the complete opposite way of (y/n).

The mushroom path became more wide as we continued to walk and the mushrooms started to look tidy -not as much dirt. The path was more visible as the trees began to separate and the bushes disappeared. Trees were scattered and were surrounded by fields of rich, purple flowers that were shaped like bells.

"They're gorgeous," (y/n) whispered breathlessly, letting go of my pinky and walking towards the small flowers.

"Do you know what kind they are?" I asked, looking at the flowers from the opposite side of (y/n).

"No," she answered, disappointingly. "I've been wanting a book about flowers, but I cant find any." I walked to (y/n) as I listened and stood beside her. She looked up at me and smiled. "Come on, let's keep moving."

(Y/n) and I proceeded to follow the path of mushrooms and purple flowers. It was quiet between the two of us. It was always quiet with (y/n) on outdoor walks. She would spend her time observing the plants, trees, or even the weather, to keep her thoughts moving. I was used to the quiet so I didn't mind. I'd listen to the slight wind or the rustling leaves on trees. We were different.

(Y/n) is a good listener, but she would observe others feelings, trying to find the best way to understand them. I was a good listener, but that's all I would do. I'd listen, say a few things, and I would continue to listen. I believe (y/n) is the first person to actually listen to me, and the first person that took time out of their day to understand how I'm feeling. Her and Kreacher. But no matter how different we are, we would always go back to the same subject.

Each other.

No matter what's happening, we would look back at each other. I could be in the Great Hall, casually eating, but then I'll think of (y/n). Then, I have a sudden urge to look at her, and once I do, she would look at me. A millisecond after, we would look away. Pretending nothing happened.

There was the thought again -and the urge to look at (y/n). I looked at her, her eyes meeting mine. But this time, we didn't look away. We didn't have to. We were alone with no one around. We didn't have to hide our friendship. We started to walk slower as we gazed into each other's eyes. It wasn't the first time this has happened either. The moment when our eyes meet and we can't look away. Well, we can look away, but we choose not to. Every now and then, I'd get the same fuzzy feeling I had when I was with (y/n) at the Midnight Ball. Like the feeling I have now.

"Where do you think this path leads to?" (Y/n) asked, her eyes still connected with mine.

"I think..." I broke away from (y/n)'s eyes to look around. "There," I pointed ahead of us. We've been walking for a while but it was definitely worth it. Ahead was a Victorian gazebo with old vines covering the roof and down the sides.

"How big is this place?" (Y/n) questioned, referring to Hogwarts. Her jaw fell once she saw the gazebo.

"Well let's see." I shrugged, striding to the gazebo. It wasn't super dirty and the vines and branches surrounding it made the scenery look complete. It was a simple spot with a large field of the purple flowers ahead of it. The area was peaceful and perfect. It was like a dream.

"Reggie, look!" (Y/n) exclaimed, pointing to a wooden porch swing.
(Y/n) ran towards the swing and carefully sat down. "This place is amazing!"

"Yeah..." I sighed, sitting beside (y/n), dumbfounded. I've been going to Hogwarts much longer than (y/n) and she discovered so many things that only a few people know about. I usually went out at night, just to the Astronomy Tower. (Y/n) goes out anywhere, anytime. She strives for adventures. I'm happy she started to drag me into them. I wouldn't know who I am without (y/n).

"Reggie," (y/n) whispered. I looked at her and saw that she was staring at the large range of purple, bell flowers. "Don't you ever wonder who discovered this place first?" (Y/n) asked, finally looking back at me.

"No. I never really thought about it."

"Do you think it was Sunshine and Moonlight?"

Sunshine and Moonlight were the ones who used to go to the cottage.
(Y/n) would read their letters that were from each other -she thought it was romantic. The letters were romantic, they held all sorts of words. Some were lyrics from muggle songs that (y/n) was able to recognize. Others were poems and the rest were just a mix. We had no idea who the couple was, but (y/n) would often tell me how she loved their relationship and how she wants to find love like how they found each other. I would usually nod my head when she told me that. Unlike (y/n), I never knew the true feeling of love.

"No," I answered, looking out to the view. "This was built long before them. Someone we don't know about."

"I guess so." (Y/n) said, placing her head on my shoulder. "The view's beautiful, don't you think?"

"Yeah," I whispered, leaning my head against her head.

"Reg."

"Yes?"

"What was your life at Hogwarts like before you met me?" (Y/n) questioned, not moving her head.

I thought about it solemnly.

'What was my life at Hogwarts like before I met (y/n)? I repeated (y/n)'s question in my head. 'Well...'

"I didn't do much and I would spend most of my free time reading. I would talk to Evan and a few other Slytherins. I would play quidditch, of course. I remember envying the Marauders and missing Sirius. Honestly, my life without you was hardly even a life. You're the one who drags me around -doing something new almost every weekend. It was boring without you. You really lightened up my life with your kind words and your friendship. Everything seemed dim without you."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"I was expecting a more detailed answer about Hogwarts but that's a nice ego boost," (y/n) shrugged.

"Oh my," I laughed and (y/n) laughed along. "What about you?" I asked after we cooled down. "What was your life like at Ilvermorny?"

"Well if we're being honest, I have to say that things are different with you.
You're an amazing person, Reg, and I can't believe I spent fifteen years without you. I like having you around, that's why you're my best friend. At Ilvermorny, I was pretty well-known and I had a few friends. I would play quidditch too, of course. I didn't really change, I still went on adventures and I would sneak out every time I had the chance. I would often read, especially in a big, blue, velvet chair that was in the library. It was right next to a window so when I got bored, I would look outside." (Y/n) answered,
"I do the same things I do now."

"Like what?" I questioned.

"Like...being one of the best seekers there is," I felt (y/n) smile, so I had no choice but to smile too.

"Back to that conversation?" I asked, still smiling as I rolled my eyes.

"I can't help it," she laughed. "I'm excited for the game!"

"You and me both." I chuckled as I slowly started to lock my pinky with (y/n)'s.

A/N: Hello lovelies, missed me again?? The ending...eh.

I always liked writing Regulus's pov because I think his thoughts are interesting :)).

The game should be fun...except I don't know what to write. I'm trying to figure some things out for the next chapter but I just...don't know. Wish me luck on that 😗✌🏼.

I love all of you and I'm sorry for slow updates, but sometimes my mind just goes blank. I hope you enjoyed this chapter because I literally just...wrote.

I also had no idea what to title this so just...ignore it.

The ending could've been better, but I just wanted to post so I can go on to the next chapter.

I think pinky locking is cute.

ANYWAYS I'm don't want to say anything too soon but I'm sorry. You'll understand some other day (future chapters <3).

I might divide this fic in two parts. This is the first half :)).

Thanks for reading, I love you, and stay safe :)).

<3
