Betty POV:
I woke up to an odd weight over my hip. I slowly opened my eyes and gently rolled over.
I rubbed my eyes as I realised what the weight was.
I was in bed with Sweet Pea, he was fast asleep with his arm resting over my waist.
Betty: shit. I whispered to myself.
Last night I had an extremely rough night. The build up of my mother constantly telling me how much of a disappointment I am. How much she wishes she never had me, it got too much.
Veronica told me to blow off some steam so that's exactly what I did. We went to a party and well, that's how I ended up in bed with Sweet Pea.
I carefully removed his arm from around me and began trying to find my clothes that were scattered all over his bedroom floor.
I managed to find everything and quickly put it all on. I then headed towards his door.
Sweet Pea: you forgetting something Princess? I heard him suddenly speak, making me jump. He let out a chuckle.
He was holding my phone in his hand.
I approached him as I went to get my phone out of his hand. As I reached to get my phone, he pulled it away.
Sweet Pea: I wasn't talking about the phone, where's my kiss baby? He said with a smirk.
Betty: this was a one time thing Sweet Pea. We're not a thing. He raised an eyebrow at me.
Sweet Pea: yes, yes we are. He said.
Betty: no we're not, now give me my phone. I said.
Sweet Pea: have breakfast with me and I'll give it to you. He said.
Betty: I don't eat breakfast, give me my phone. I said.
Sweet Pea: well babe, you of all people should know it's the most important meal of the day. So, come eat with me. He said as he got up.
He was thankfully in his boxers, not naked as I had expected he may be.
Betty: you want to put some pants on? I asked as I raised an eyebrow.
Sweet Pea: not really. He smirked as he walked past me.
I followed behind him as he lead us to the kitchen.
Sweet Pea: sit. He said softly.
I did as he told me to and I took a seat at the table.
Betty: can I please have my phone back? I asked.
Sweet Pea: sure, but don't try running. He said as he placed the phone in my hand.
Betty: thanks. I mumbled.
Sweet Pea: always welcome Princess. He said. I rolled my eyes.
Betty: stop calling me nicknames. I groaned out.
A big detail about Sweet Pea that I may have left out, he's the Serpent king. In other words, he is the leader of a very dangerous and very criminal gang.
Sweet Pea: why? He asked like a child.
Betty: nicknames are for friends or couples, which we are neither. I told him.
Sweet Pea: since when were we never friends? He asked in shock. I raised an eyebrow.
Betty: the first time we spoke was last night and you were the one who initiated the conversation. I said.
Sweet Pea: well, that's when we became friends. He said as he placed some toast in front of me.
Betty: not interested in a relationship. I said as I picked at my food.
He took a seat opposite me as he let out a groan.
Sweet Pea: why are you playing so hard to get? He said as he took a bite of his toast.
Betty: why haven't you taken the hint that I'm not interested in you. We had a one night stand. We're done. I told him.
Sweet Pea: you're just scared of the world you'd be entering. He said.
Betty: exactly what the Serpents would want, a north sider dating their king. I said as I raised an eyebrow.
Sweet Pea: you underestimate how much control I have. He said.
I finished breakfast and I was thankfully able to leave.
Sweet Pea: see you tonight Princess. He said.
Betty: sure. I said sarcastically.
I got into my car and drove home, where I had a very angry mother waiting for me.
She yelled at me, called me a disappointment, told me how I was probably going to end up like Polly. Pregnant, no one to rely on and all alone.
Betty: why can't you ever shut up? I yelled at her.
This was my breaking point. I couldn't continue taking all of her crap. This has been going on since I was a child.
How can a mother abuse her child? How sick do you have to be?
Alice: what did you say to me? She yelled as she walked closer to me.
Betty: all you do is bitch and moan. Can you please just shut the fuck up! I yelled at her. She slapped me across the face.
Alice: you better leave before I do a lot worse. She threatened me.
I stormed out of the house and got into my car. I couldn't be here. I needed to get away.
After driving for however long, I arrived at some lake. I sat on the dunes as I contemplated life.
Betty: that mother fucker. I laughed to myself.
After everything that had gone on with my mum, all I wanted to do was talk to Sweet Pea.
I mean all I want to do right now is go to his apartment, make him hold me and offer to kill my mum.
I wish this wasn't the way my life had turned out. I mean, what did I do to deserve such a horrible mum?
I had been there for about half an hour I'm guessing, just sitting there, evaluating my life.
I looked to the calm water, taking a deep breath out.
Sweet Pea: why you all alone Betts? I heard his voice, instantly making me jump.
I turned to face Sweet Pea, so much confusion on my face.
Betty: what are you doing here? How did you know I was here? I asked as he took a seat next to me.
Sweet Pea: added my number into your contacts and then wanted to see you so I checked your location. He said. I couldn't help but chuckle.
Betty: why did you want to see me? I asked him.
Sweet Pea: to apologise for this morning, I'm sorry for being a jerk. He said. I smiled as I rested my head in his lap.
Betty: you were only a little annoying. I told him.
Sweet Pea: well now I'm more confused then ever. He said making me chuckle.
Sweet Pea: talk to me B, what's up? I looked up at him as I let out a sigh.
I decided to stay quiet, I didn't really know what to say. I can't really just come out with my mother is abusive and I hate her so much.
Sweet Pea: school? He asked.
Betty: no. I said.
Sweet Pea: friends? I shook my head no.
Sweet Pea: family? I nodded my head.
Sweet Pea: I'm not surprised, she's not a tolerable lady to be around. He said.
My mum is definitely not someone who is liked around town. Everyone knows how much of a bitch she is, how she only cares about herself. They just don't know what I go through everyday. They don't know that she has no problem hitting me. They don't know just how truly terrible she is.
Betty: I hate her. I said.
I looked up at him as I analysed his face, giving me a sympathetic look.
Sweet Pea: want me to kill her for you? He asked.
Betty: I would say yes but people would notice if the town bitch was gone. I said making him chuckle.
Sweet Pea: anything I can do to make you feel better? He asked me.
Betty: hug? I asked. He smiled as I sat up.
He pulled me into his lap and wrapped his arms around me. He rested his head on my shoulder as he looked up to me.
Sweet Pea: the right side of your face is a bit red. He said as he furrowed his eyebrows and caressed my cheek. I remained silent.
Sweet Pea: did she do- he stopped himself as he watched me nod my head.
Sweet Pea: Betty, that isn't okay, at all. He said sternly.
Betty: Sweet Pea there is nothing I can do. I told him.
Sweet Pea: you're staying with me then. He said. I sighed.
Sweet Pea: no ifs no buts. I am not letting you stay with that abusive bitch Betty. He told me.
I just wrapped my arms around him tighter and rested my head on his shoulder.
Betty: I like you. I said.
When someone cares for you and looks after you the way Sweet Pea has for me, especially after dealing with my mum, you can't help but like them and admire them.
Sweet Pea: it's amazing what a couple hours apart can do. He said making me chuckle.
Sweet Pea: But, I like you too Princess. He said as he kissed my cheek.
Sweet Pea: let me look after you. He said softly.
Betty: we barely know each other, I can't just infiltrate your life. I chuckled out.
Sweet Pea: I mean I'm already attached to you, so I don't see why not. He said. I raised an eyebrow at him.
Sweet Pea: I get attached real quick Princess. He said making me chuckle.
We sat in silence for about half an hour. The moment was quite beautiful.
Eventually he spoke up and told me he wanted me to stay at his, so I did that night. And that night turned into months.
He looked after me and made sure that I knew he loved me. He would do anything to make me happy, to look after me.
He truly is the love of my life.
