Kai's Pov
Who built this castle?
I thought to myself shaking the stones and people from a bad shot one of my soldiers made
I didn't even have to open my mouth before the soldier dropped the arrows and began to run around the training grounds.
I've had the soldiers out training since sunrise. I couldn't sleep last night. Especially with her sleeping in my bed a few meters away from me. I don't know what it was but my body just remained focused on the breaths she was taking or the way her silver hair caused the moonlight in just the right way.
she rolled her body towards me allowing Me to watch the sheets rise and fall with every breath she took
her braid was messily displayed all over my pillow causing the moonlight to reflect on her uniquely colored hair.
"You are kai, prince kai" her words echoed through my head.
my father and the kingdom took pride in the name I had earned from my many battles
at first that title brought me shame. people feared me and I was no longer seen as a man but a weapon of war.
but I now understand that is what I am
I am a killer who used my fire for destruction
the sooner that she sees that the better off we will both be.
Eventually, after hours of trying to rest and read reports, I had to meet the soldiers on the training grounds with no sleep. Training usually is something that relieved stress and eventually calmed me, but all day I found myself comparing them to luna.
Her form and accuracy when fighting even unusual strength.
Something that was meant to be a 2-hour training turned into a 6-hour punishment for the soldiers. 10 men have been taken to the medic and 6 have passed out from exhaustion.
Alright, men move to hand-to-hand combat. Everyone grab a staff" I yelled over their huffing and puffing
They placed their arrows back on the appropriate shelves and moved toward the combat matt
"Prince Kai!" I found myself cringing when I heard that voice
"Prince Kai!" I heard princess Lulia yell from behind me
I looked to see her in a grand lime green dress and a lovely hat
"Kai you missed our picnic this morning because of training so I decided it would be fun to come to join you"
"Join me" I nearly laughed
Lulia doesn't do violence. She's hated it since we were younger, when she found out I was heading to war she nearly cried for a week straight. She cants even handle passive violence like sparring
What does she really want?
"Prince kai I am a princess you know! I should know how to defend my kingdom as well."
Just then she reached behind her and untied the back of her dress. I quickly turned around in the direction of my men to find them all staring wide-eyed as well. I glared at them quickly, forcing them all to reluctantly turn around as well.
"Prince kai I'm not stripping my body is covered"
she said I turned to find her in a black training suit that we give to recruits. Her hair was pulled into a low neat bun and she was blushing intensely at the thought of me thinking about her naked.
"Well stop gawking and let's get started" her voice wavered towards the end as she looked over at the mat. I knew she was uncomfortable with the idea of fighting. I couldn't stand to watch her fidget with her shirt hem any longer
" Alright, men let's move back to target practice once more. It looks like you guys needed it" I said pointing at all the terrible shot targets against the castle wall.
Lulia's eyes were instantly relieved she practically skipped over to the archery section leaving her ladies in waiting all alone.
The men started to shoot once more, doing slightly better than before. Maybe the presence of a woman is enough encouragement for them. I walked around correcting their stance as well as giving advice and correction trying to keep my profanities at a low.
Lulia was strained in archery from the age of five but each time I looked in her direction she seemed that she forgot how to hold the bow.
" Prince Kai I need you to help please"
Sighing I walked over ignoring the glances from my men. Everyone knew I was supposed to marry her before I publicly declined years ago, but the thought of our marriage still hangs over my head each day.
"How do I position my hands again kai?"
"It's Prince kai and why are you pretending that you don't know how to shoot an arrow"
I know it sounds harsh but one should never weaken themselves for the attention of others, especially Lulia. she is often seen for her beauty rather than her wit. she used to hate it too. Lulia has always loved dresses and art but she also loved astronomy and studying war strategy.
after the rejection, she has now focused on other silly little things trying to gain my affection but I know that's not who she is.
I walked away to help some more of the other men looking back to see lulia huff and then shoot a bullseye.
I smiled slightly before getting back to training
The sounds of gasping and murmuring could be heard by the men
I quickly looked up to see a familiar body falling from a window of the castle. her body fell limply through the window she grasped the staff she had stolen in her hand.
Why the hell is she falling from a window?
I quickly started to run toward her
"Ceasefire, Ceasefire"
I ran towards the target wall but she seemed to be falling faster than I could run
" Dear gods please give me the strength to save her" I prayed out loud pushing myself toward her
I cannot believe I am praying to a God I didn't believe in
I opened my hands
The feeling of her falling into my arms is a huge relief, but it also caused me to fall to the ground,
As my body hit the floor my men came rushing to see who had fallen from the castle
" prince kai are you alright" the sound of Lulia's panicked voice filled my ears
I didn't even lookup in her direction. Kept my eyes focused on luna.
" what the hell luna why are you falling from windows"
She slowly opened her eyes registering that she was still alive and then she looked at me registering that I caught her.
Within a second she fully registered what I said too quickly getting an attitude.
"I was running from YOUR guard's kai, that's why I fell from the window"
" so you couldn't take the stairwell or stay in my room"
" I am not a criminal why do I have to stay in your room kai"
" so you wouldn't have to jump out of windows"
She soon started to laugh at my last statement. The sound of her laughter was so contagious I found myself laughing beside her as well
" you are so annoying," I said pushing her off me
She gasped at the feeling of her body hitting the floor
I paused and looked at the audience we had around us. I nearly had forgotten they were there.
Their faces were a mix of amusement as well as shock. Lulia had an unreadable expression on her face
" Get her!"
At the entrance to the castle, a unit of guards marched out charging toward Luna. She quickly panicked. Snatching a bow and arrow from one of my men ready to shoot. But it was too late. The guards had already sent a storm of arrows in our direction.
These arrows would not only hit and kill luna but some of my men as well.
I saw Princess Lulia running in my direction but I also stood in the path of the arrows
I ran towards her trying to stop her from getting in the way of the arrows. Once I reached her I quickly tackled her body to the ground to make sure she wouldn't be hit.
" Stay here" I whispered in her ear I turned back to my men to find they were surrounded by an ice shield. Their faces were mixed with shock and awe.
I ran towards luna burning arrows shooting towards her with my fire to make sure she remained safe.
I reached luna and grabbed her face to see if she was okay. She had cuts on her face from some arrows grazing her. She was shaking her body seemed strained.
"Luna what's wrong" I question in the midst of burning the arrows as they approach us
" Nothing" she whispered as if holding her strength
I then realize not only did she make this ice shield she was holding up the massive weight as

" ceasefire" I suddenly remembered I was the prince. The guards stopped running toward us and shooting when they heard my voice
" but the king sai-"
" And I am your future king" I grabbed luna's hand
" and she is MY guest, treat her as such"
And with that, I heated up the ice shield causing it to melt instantly. This caused luna to fall forward into me.
The guards stood back careful not to make me any angrier but they were cautious of this stranger in my hands. they were also all in awe, luna had not revealed her powers and now it's another issue I will have to deal with.
I turned towards one of my men and handed luna to him
" Take her to haikem. If she doesn't make it there I promise you will be engulfed by an unquenchable fire" I raise my index finger allowing a flame to dance upon it.
he seemed visibly disturbed by the whole day and he ran off without question.
The Men headed to the resting quarters
I need to have a conversation with the king.
