"Dre, come here. Finish your juice first." I said. I've been a single mom since my baby was born. The father had abandoned me and my son. Gladly, my mother wasn't too mad about me getting pregnant. Besides, she loves Dre.
He takes the juice box from my hands and finishes it. He hands it back to me and continued playing in the playground.
"Hey." A man said, I look back. "Hi."I replied politely. "I just saw you, though I might say hello." He said. "I'm sorry, have we met?"
"Not personally. I'm Keith but everyone calls me Two-Bit." He said, pulling out his hand for me to shake. "Y/n." "We go to the same school. We're in English class together." He said.
I thought about it. "Oh right! Yes I've seen you." I said. "So what brings you here on this beautiful day?" He asks. No one in town really knows I have a son, people think he's my little brother. Mind as well just say that.
"I'm just watching my little brother over there." I pointed to where Dre was playing. "I see you with him everywhere, can't he be with your mom?" "My mom's pretty busy, plus I love to hang out with him. He's very outgoing and usually the only motivation I have." I said. I then pointed at his shirt.
"You like Mickey?" I asked. "Excuse me? I love Mickey. It's my favorite thing in the world, other than my friends and chocolate cake of course." He said, making me laugh. Dre then comes to me.
"Mommy, I'm tired. Can we go home?" He said, I covered his mouth but the word 'mommy' had already slipped out. I winced hearing it, hoping Two won't speak up about it but of course, he did.
"Mommy?" He said. I stood silent. "This is your son?" I nodded. "Why didn't you just say so?"
"I was scared you might spread this to school and it could go all over town. And I didn't want people to think I'm a whore." I said. "Hey, I would never do that. Anyone who'd do that is a douche. A dickhead." He said. I laugh a little bit.
"If you don't mind me asking, who's the father?" "I'd rather not speak of it but all can say is that he left us. He wanted me to get an abortion but I wanted to keep the baby so, he broke up with me." I said. "I'm really sorry." He said.
"Mickey!" Dre shouted slightly at Two's shirt. "Hey little buddy, you like Mickey too?" Dre nodded. "I do too! Who's your favorite character?" "Mickey!" Two playfully gasped. "Me too!"
"Do you mind if I carry him?" Two asked. "Not at all, he seems to like you anyway." Two picked him up. And seeing them bond together made me feel something. It looked right and felt right.
"Why don't I take you 2 home?" He suggests. "Sure, I think Dre might've be sad if you left." I said.
