CHAPTER TWENTY
Sehun's POV
I didn't know how long I was holding Paige. When I was able to calm myself down, I noticed that Paige was asleep, more like... she cried herself to sleep. I grimaced as everything that happened flashed in my mind. I saw everything.
I saw how I fought against my brothers, I saw how I nearly killed my own brother and most of all, I saw how much pain I've caused Paige. I had mixed feelings. I was feeling guilty, I felt horrible. How could I even do those things?! I felt frustrated since everyone kept everything from me. I was afraid... I'm afraid of myself.
I released Paige for a moment to observe my surroundings. I can't even believe it, I did this... I did all of this. I could still hear the students' cries for help. I could still hear how Paige cried just to make me stop.
I looked down at Paige and I felt even more horrible. She had cuts and scratches all over her body, her neck had nail marks which is a sign that she was strangled, she also had a cut on her cheek which was still bleeding.
I pulled at my hair in despair. I felt hopeless. Just look at how many lives I've managed to end in just this day!
I closed my eyes and I calmed myself down. I was beginning to feel lightheaded. It was as if I wasn't completely myself. The scent of the different blood of the students plus Paige's blood was really intoxicating. I need to get out of here.
I carried Paige in my arms and I gave one last glance at the auditorium. I had to make sure that there was no trail of either me or Paige left. Once I was sure, I quickly used my teleportation to get out of the school.
I kept walking and teleporting all around since I had no idea where we were. I also had to make sure that no human sees us. Luckily, I was able to find our way home. I quickly barged in the door and I gently placed Paige on the couch at the main hall. I had to get separated from her quickly, I was afraid that I'd lose control of myself again.
"Sehun?!" I couldn't feel any more relieved when I saw Kyungsoo. He looked at me then towards Paige. "What happened?" he asked worriedly. He rushed towards Paige to observe her for a moment.
"I hurt her Kyungsoo... I hurt everyone." I clenched my fists.
Kyungsoo's eyes widened a fraction. "Y-you know?" he asked. I slowly nodded. "Let's talk later. For now, it would be best to call the others and take care of Paige." he said.
He left for a while and I was once again left here with Paige. Everything is just driving me insane. I wanted to kill myself just by looking at how pained Paige looked. She might be asleep but I could tell that she's still in so much pain.
I wanted to hug her just one more time... but I know I can't. I want to embrace her, wake her up gently and apologize once more but what if my other form suddenly appears? I just don't know what to do anymore!
"Kyungsoo! How's Paige?" that was the first question that I heard once the rest of my brothers entered the house.
They stopped for a moment when they saw me with her. Kyungsoo also entered the main hall, he was holding a basin and a towel. "Where did Aleister bring you?" Tao asked.
I took one deep breath before telling them everything. As I was narrating, Kyungsoo was cleaning up Paige's wounds. Among all of us, Kyungsoo has the most self-control when it comes to humans, he and Baekhyun were both good at stuff like that. Their faces all showed surprise, guilt, concern then confusion.
"So you know everything now," Suho said with a tired sigh.
I nodded as I took another glance at Paige. "I was the one that claimed Paige, wasn't I?" I asked them.
"Yes," Baekhyun answered. "We didn't tell you because it's for Paige's safety and Paige herself, didn't want you to find out." he explained.
I was clenching my fists again. How can they hide something like that from me? It's not like I'd hurt Paige if I found out, of course my other form is an exception but still... they couldn't trust me at least?
"We know that you're probably mad at us right now." Chanyeol began.
"Furious," I corrected which caused him to sigh deeply.
"At least hear us out. We did it for your sake, we didn't want you to find out because mother made us promise to protect you at all costs. If you found out about your other form then you wouldn't be the same as you are right now. We thought it would've been better to keep it all from you rather than letting you know." he explained. "You were so scared when you'd accidentally lose control when we were younger, that's probably why you couldn't remember much about those moments too."
"And as for Paige's case, she's the one that didn't want to let you know. That's why she played along when Baekhyun pretended to be her mate. Besides, she trusts Baekhyun the most." Luhan added.
"But aren't Baekhyun's feelings for her real?" I asked.
Everyone seemed to have a change of mood suddenly. "Well do you think it all matters right now, Sehun?" Baekhyun asked me.
All the memories of me hurting him suddenly flooded my thoughts. If there's another one that I should apologize to other than Paige, it would be Baekhyun. "I'm sorry," I told him.
"I don't plan on making history repeat itself. Paige and I talked about it and we both know what's best for all of us. I don't want the two of us to end up like how Aleister and father did." he explained.
I don't know why but I'm suddenly relieved. But I still can't stop myself from being guilty, he chose family over the girl that he loves. I don't even know how he managed to deal with it.
"I'm supposed to be infuriated since you kept all of that from me all these years. No wonder I was treated differently, sometimes I just feel like an outcast in this family. If you would've just told me then I would've understood. You don't know how frustrated I felt all these years." I told them.
"Then Paige arrived and she told me that I have the right to know about everything. I realized that she had a point and so I did try, that's why I became this stubborn. I somewhat owe Paige for that but I didn't know that I hurt her this badly. I know that there were times when she tried to avoid me but she was still nice to me." I looked back at Paige who was still unconscious.
"One of you should have told me and I would've avoided her. Then none of this would've happened."
"Even if you did avoid her, it won't change a thing. This is Aleister's doing, and we can't do anything to go against him, at least none at the moment." Tao said.
"You can't blame us Sehun, we didn't have a choice." Chen added.
I can't blame you. You're my brothers.
I raked my fingers through my hair and I heaved another sigh. "It's not like I am blaming you. Everything already happened and there's nothing we can do to change it." I faced all of them.
"What do we do now? Should I just avoid Paige or should we just send her off to live at a different place?" I asked.
Honestly, Paige is my main concern right now. She hates me, and with what I did a while ago, I'm sure that there's no way that she's ever going to forgive me. If she's away from me, I won't be able to hurt her.
"She's staying here," Kai answered. "If none of us would keep an eye on her, who knows what she'll do? Everything that's happening is bound to take a toll on her and if she's had enough, she might..." He trailed off but it was enough for us to understand what he meant.
"She isn't safe in here." I remarked.
"She isn't safe anywhere, Sehun." I looked at Xiumin in confusion. What does he mean? I'm the only one that's putting Paige in danger right? "Keeping her away from us will only give Aleister and her stepfather a chance to take advantage or hurt her. She needs to stay with us, at least we could protect her." he explained.
"We're meeting father soon and that would be a good time to ask for his help." Suho said.
"Just promise me one thing," they all looked at me. "Protect Paige, even if one of you would have to hurt me, then so be it."
"It's not like we all stand a chance against you. Your strength is far different from ours Sehun." Lay told me.
"Then I'll do my best to avoid switching forms. I will never be able to forgive myself if I end up hurting any of you or Paige again."
"We hope you forgive us for keeping it all from you." Suho began.
"It's a lot to sink in, but you all know that I'll never be able to hold a grudge even if I tried." I replied.
"Thanks Sehun," Baekhyun said with a small smile as he gave me a short pat on the shoulder.
They are my brothers after all... we promised to stick together whatever happens. Even if they did keep secrets from me, it still doesn't change the fact that they did it for my sake as well. I guess I do owe them a lot.
"Paige... are you alright?" our attention was suddenly changed when we heard Kyungsoo. We saw Paige stir and her eyes fluttered open.
She slowly sat up and her eyes scanned the room. She stopped when her eyes landed on me. "Paige," I said.
"Stay away from me," she said with a stern voice, much to my surprise.
"But Paige, I can-"
"Go away! You're a killer!" she yelled. I stepped back, I could see the pain in her eyes. Not just pain, I can see how much fear she has for me.
"Paige, you need to calm yourself down." Kyungsoo was about to place his hand on her shoulder but she abruptly slapped his hand away.
"Don't touch me," she snapped. We could all tell that she's afraid.
She stood up from the sofa quickly only to find herself falling back down again. She placed her hands on the sides of her head and she stood up once again. Her feet were wobbly and she looked really pale.
"Paige, you should stay down. You're not feeling well." Luhan said but she quickly stepped away before he could even come near her.
"Don't go near me, none of you should go near me. Please, just leave me alone!" she said as if she was in a panicked state.
She covered her ears and she began crying. "H-he killed them... they... they're all dead." she said in between sobs. I didn't know what to do... did I really turn her into this? "There was so much blood..." I saw that the rest were about to approach her but she made a gesture for them to stop.
"No! Stay away, you're all the same!" she cried. "You're all monsters!"
It felt like a ton of boulders just fell on me. Not only does she despise me even more, but she's also afraid of my brothers now. "Paige," Baekhyun said calmly as he went near her.
"Don't come near me," Paige stumbled back.
Baekhyun took advantage of this and he immediately knelt in front of her and held her wrists. "Let go! Don't hurt me!" she said as she tried to push him away.
"Paige, I won't hurt you." he said in a gentle voice. "Please, calm down," he pulled her towards him and I noticed Paige calming down for a bit. "I'm not going to hurt you." he repeated.
Baekhyun looked at us and he helped Paige get up. "I'll bring her to her room for a while." he told us before he and Paige left.
"She's afraid of us... all because of me." I stated.
"Just give her time, it's only normal." Xiumin said.
And I did give her time, a week has passed and Paige hasn't even left her room. Not even once. She hasn't been attending night class either. None of us could even talk to her, she wouldn't even allow anyone in her room.
One time I accidentally ended up there once again, she kept yelling at me to leave. It felt like a hopeless case. The only one she allows to go in her room is Baekhyun. I guess they are right that she trusts him the most.
"Baekhyun, call Paige and tell her to change. We're meeting father tonight." I heard Suho.
"You think she'll say yes? She doesn't even want to see us." I interfered.
"I'll do something about it. It will be hard, but she needs to meet father anyway." Baekhyun replied before he went upstairs to call Paige.
Whenever I see him going up to call Paige, I couldn't help but feel a bit irritated. A part of me kept thinking that I should be the one doing it.
That should be me right?
I shook my head at the thought. Impossible. Paige despises me. "Sehun," I turned and I saw Kai and Tao.
"What is it?" I asked them.
"Baekhyun's going to convince Paige, well... we have a plan." Tao said.
"Are you up for it? We asked the others about it and they're willing to do it as long as you do it too." Kai asked.
"If it's a chance for Paige to forgive me, then I'm in."

And another thing... a lot of you really dislike Paige... if you've read my other stories, my OCs aren't always 100% likable because they have flaws. They make bad decisions because I don't want characters that are too perfect. The most important part is that I always give them a realistic character development. Paige has been through shit, the girl is literally scarred for life. Sorry, I love Paige so much because I've been attached to her ever since. I'm here to defend my baby girl. ㅠㅠ
