An hour after the tiresome conversation we had, Kakashi and I decided it was time to start training the young genin.
"Are you sure you should be walking around?" I whispered in Kakashi's right ear and he turned and gave me a closed eye smile.
"Ya, don't worry." He said now moving forward on his crutches.
'How did you convince me to let you come?' I thought and had a brief flashback and blushed.
"Alright, training starts now." Kakashi announced and I walked over and stood next to him.
"Right!" Naruto shouted
"First, we will begin with a review of chakra, a ninja's main source of power. Understanding chakra is essential." Kakashi stated
"We know that already." Sasuke replied and sighed
"Yeah! he's right, A looong time ago we learned about...cattra!" Naruto pointed out
"Naruto, I think you mean Cha k ra." I said and pronounce each syllable.
"mmm, no I think it's cattra." Naruto said confidently and I sighed. 'I don't get paid enough for this.' I menatily cried.
"All right listen up Naruto. I'll explain is simply so you can understand." Sakura said and started explaining chakra, which was a very long and boring conversation and I ended up zoning out.
'hmmm, I'm kinda hungry, I wonder what we are going to eat later...' I thought
"Right. Iruka-sensei really did have some excellent students. Kakashi said and I then rejoined the conversation.
"Hey! what's with the long explanations?! The whole point is to learn a new jutsu, isn't it?" Naruto asked
"Naruto's right for once. We are already using chakra energy in our jutsu." Sasuke said with his hands in his pockets.
"Sorry, Sasuke, but, that's where you are wrong. You haven't quite mastered your chakra yet. More like you just tried a new drink and took a sip and you're trying to figure out if you like it or not." I said trying to come up with a metaphor or something.
"That made no sense." Sasuke replied and I hunched over. Kakashi then patted my back and sighed.
"Let me put it this way, like Sakura said to use chakra, use have to draw out both physical and spiritual energies and combine them within yourself. But...how do you do that? Each jutsu requires different types of chakra in different portions. you must select and combine the in exactly the right way. Up till now, you all have been just guessing the proportions, hoping they would come out right. Even if you produce a lot of chakra, unless you can balance and control it, it's ends up being useless. You then become a joke and waste all of your chakra during a fight." Kakashi stated
"So, uuh how do we change that?" Naruto asked. Kakashi and I looked at eachother and smirked.
"Tree climbing." Kakashi and I both said
"Climb a tree?!" everyone else said and I walked over to a tree.
"Yep, and there's one rule, you have to climb the tree only using you feet." I said
"You're kidding?" Sakura said and looked over at Kakashi who shook his head.
"No, she's right." Kakashi replied and everyone sighed. Kakashi then wobbled over to the tree directly next to mine and nodded. I sent chakra to the bottoms of my feet and began walking up the tree.
"Woah!" everyone said.
"Anyway, you get the idea." Kakashi said while standing upside down.
"Focus, you're chakra at the bottoms of your feet and use it to connect to the tree." I replied
"Ok, great, even if we can climb trees, how is that going to help us in the fight against Zabuza?" Sakura shouted.
"It's the only way you can fight him, Sakura. This is the goal of this exercise. By learning how to send a concentrated about of chakra to parts of your body you are able to combine physical and spiritual energy. Anyway, if you can master this you will be able to master any jutsu. Well, theoretically." Kakashi replied.
"The second point is to learn to maintain your chakra levels. when a ninja is focused in battle, it's even harder to maintain and control his/her chakra levels. If you don't learn this, you will ultimately put yourself and your teammates in danger." I replied and then saw Kakashi launched three kunai at the genin.
"Use these kunai to mark the tree at the highest you can climb without using your hands Then repeat this process over and over again, until you can maintain your chakra." Kakashi said
"Alright, that's enough talking, why don't you start?" I yelled down
"I'm, so ready for this! This will be no sweat at all! Dattebayo!" Naruto shouted
'I have a bad feeling about this.' I thought as I watched the genin begin to gather there chakra. I then noticed the ground.
'Hmmm, it looks like Sasuke, used too little chakra, Naruto, used way too much, and Sakura, heh, she's got this.' I thought. My suspicion then came true both Sasuke and Naruto didn't make it up the tree.
"Way to go Sakura." I smiled and she sat next to me.
"Thanks, Y/n-sensei." She smiled.
"Hmm, I'm not surprised, Sakura, who knows the most about chakra can also maintain it. hmm, who said they were going to become Hokage again? And as for the Uchiha clan, maybe they're not so great after all." Kakashi taunted. I then looked over at Kakashi and shook my head.
'I know he wants to motivate them but...' I thought
"Shut up, Kakashi-sensei! You talk too much!" Sakura yelled and pouted.
I then nodge Sakura shoulder and she looked at me in surprise.
"Sakura, don't worry about things so much. Just, focus on yourself." I replied and she nodded.
"But, Sasuke-kun's gonna hate me now." she replied and I looked at her confused.
"I'm not sure what your talking about, you didn't do anything wrong. You should be proud of yourself. You were the first one to complete this 'exam' and you shouldn't let anyone make you feel otherwise." I said and she looked up at me in shocked. I then began to mentally sweat.'I'm not good with this whole talking thing...Did I say something wrong?' I thought.
"Uh, thanks, Sensei that means a lot." Sakura said and patted my shoulder. Sakura then jumps down and Naruto walks over to her. I hop across to the next tree and jump down next to Sasuke.
"Hmm, you're doing pretty well." I said looking up at the markings on the tree.
"Tsk, Well, not good enough!" Sasuke said angrily and I sighed. I then pulled him aside and began talking to him.
"Listen, Otōto, you need to calm down and focus. You can't start getting angry over someone else's progression." I said and Sasuke interrupted me.
"I'm not!" He replied and I looked at him in disbelief.
"Sure, sure. Whatever you say." I look over my shoulder and notice Naruto walking back to his tree, and begins focusing his chakra. he climbs the tree once more and reaches past his mark.
"Wah, how did?" Sasuke said and I flicked his headband.
"Listen, why don't you go ask Naruto for help?" I said
"and why would I do that?" Sasuke tsked and I glared.
"because I said so." I said in a low menacing voice
"F-fine." Sasuke gulped and walked over to Naruto.
'Alright, here we go.' I thought and then sighed noticing Naruto being stubborn and not telling Sasuke, what Sakura told him.
"Geez, Really?" I said out loud
"Yo." Kakashi said behind me and I jumped.
"You have to stop doing that!" I said and lightly punched him.
"I have no idea what your talking about." Kakashi said teasingly and began walking away.
