I propped my gun up on the edge of the building after putting it together. The fading light was all I had to find out where I had to shoot. I'll shoot the men on top of the building last. They're blind if they haven't seen me by now. It's not that dark out here yet. The men on the ground had to go first. No telling when the guys would be ready to raid the place.
To be completely honest, I don't think they could pull off the raid with however many people Zach took. Dean was busy at the new warehouse, so he couldn't come. Dominick was manning the cameras. He wouldn't have wanted to come anyway. Byung-chul is still too young and Ren wouldn't have let him come anyway. It was just us and they didn't even know I was here. It's better to be sneaky than to foil any type of plan they have.
My tranquilizer gun sat on the concrete roof ready to be used. I was still deciding on who to kill and who was going to live. Nathan was great with the tranquilizer serums. I hoped these were going to work as effectively as he said they would. Anyone left standing by the time they finally raided the place wouldn't have much longer to stay conscious. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.
From how far the men were spaced out, I noted that there had to be at least eight men on the ground and three on the roof. Well, I think I want to kill them all. Maybe tranquilize one of them to tell what happened when Ty comes back. I went back to my rifle and looked through the scope. Hmm...
From where I am, there were two ways I could go about this. One, kill everyone leaving the man who rounds the back of the building with a tranquilizer in the back of his neck. Or two, kill everyone. No survivors. No one can tell what happened. I personally loved the second option, but I do need someone to tell stories about how great I am. Get other gangs scared.
Where does my mind go when I'm about to kill someone? I swear it's me who's the psychopath. Not Dominick. He's proven himself crazy, but not this crazy. Anyway, this is probably the only fun I'm going to get in a long time. After defeating Ty and reminding local gangs of greater power, no one's going to want to mess with us for a while.
I looked up over the gun and sighed. The boys were still talking. Or whatever they're doing in the car. The sun wasn't set all the way, so I still had a couple of minutes before I couldn't see clearly anymore. I looked through the scope again and it wasn't long before the three men on the roof were dead. Hopefully they weren't fat and no one heard it. If they had any walkie-talkies, I was done for.
A smile stretched across my face as I took down three more men and switched to my tranquilizer gun. It's better to have two men look crazy than one. They both rounded the building to find their comrades dead at their feet. It was too long of a moment before they tried to run off. The one in the front went down first, tripping up the guy following him. I loaded another dart in a heartbeat and waited for the man who tripped to get up and run again before shooting him.
A satisfying thud reached my ears and I let out a small chuckle. I guess not shooting someone from this height for so many years didn't make me a bad shot. It's about time we got some real game around here. I looked over to the car again to see Zach and the guys getting out. Just the three of them? Oh well. I wish them all the best. My job here is done.

After I'd packed up my gear and headed back down through the abandoned building, I checked the time. It's not too late to get something to eat. Dean said he'd come pick me up when I was finished. Since it's too early to say I actually did anything, I'll get a quick snack. Maybe we'll finally get the cars and drive them to the mansion. This plan sounds nice.
And it would have been nice if Jae hadn't come bounding around the corner like a lost puppy. Her blonde hair was pulled into a tight ponytail and bounced against her back as she ran towards me. I didn't want to drop my guns, but it looked like I had to. No way would she get away again. And without Ian? She had another thing coming. I'm not the scrawny teenager I was six years ago. You're not getting away this time.
As she got closer, I dropped my bags and crouched into wrestler position. I got you now, Jae. You're not going anywhere, you scaredy-cat. She was right up on me when I tackled her and we rolled around like two people scuffling. I'm not going to fight her, but I will get her to come back with me. Scratch that snack. Dean was taking us back to the hotel. I couldn't risk her trying to get away.
"Let me go!" she screeched.
"Shut up!" I yelled back and threw a hand over her mouth. "You're going to get us caught!"
"Tyler is going to murder you."
"Not before I murder him. Be quiet and get up. You're not running away again. Leaving us like that should have made you guilty. I see you've been living the life, haven't you?"
"You know nothing. Let me go, you idiot. You're going to get us both killed."
"Come back with me."
"No."
No...No?! I swear she was going to be the death of me. There's no way I'm about to pass up the chance of bringing her back to Cory. Not unless I do and he's already smitten for Ren again. Who knows how he's feeling right now? What if I bring her back and Cory doesn't want anything to do with her? It's now or never. We'll clear everything up when Cory gets back.
"You're coming back with me one way or another," I growled. "I'm not the same boy you tricked into thinking you died last time."
"...K-Kais?" Jae stopped struggling and finally got a good look at me. I stood up and dusted off my clothes. She looked at me like she was seeing a ghost. I should be the one looking at her like that. "You look...different."
"I would assume so. It's been some time since you've seen me. Not counting last week." I brushed my hair away from my eyes. "Get up."
Jae looked as if she wasn't going to listen to me, but when I reached for my bags, she reluctantly got to her feet. I shouldered both bags and grabbed her arm.
"No talking. Just run. No telling who saw you leave and who knows where you're staying."
"...They know where I'm staying. It's not safe to go back to the hotel."
"The hotel?"
"Yes. I'm roomed underneath you guys. If it wasn't for Dean, I'd gladly go back to the hotel with you." Jae took her arm back. "I can't."
"It wasn't a choice, Jae." I grabbed her arm again. "We're. Going."
"Kais..."
"It's not your choice, Jae! You messed up when you faked your death. Do you know it's a federal crime to do that? Not only did you plan it yourself, but you hurt people in the process. Aren't you at least a little guilty about what you did to Cory?"
"Of course I felt guilty. I wouldn't be human if I didn't!"
"Then why did you leave! Why did you not send us any signal that you were alive and needed a break? Why did you have us all believe you were dead to mourn two people we dearly missed? How could you?!"
Jae looked at me as if I'd told her to go die for real. I might as well have, because she was making this situation harder than it actually was. If she hadn't run off like she was scared of being a part of our gang, I don't think I'd be yelling at her right now. I'm not the bad guy. I'm the victim. She shouldn't have left us in the first place without any closure.
"That's why I left. You all cared more about Cory and Ian. I was never in the equation."
"That's not true." I dropped her arm.
"It is and you know it. If I hadn't left and Ian was the only one missing, you all would be looking for him continuously. Talking about how you miss him so much and coddling Cory like he's a child. NOBODY CARED ABOUT HOW I WAS FEELING!"

So...what do you know? I'm back with a different p.o.v and Kais gave to Jae. Who's right? Jae or Kais? We'll find out in the next chapter.
