-Kaden's POV-

Wake up, shower, go to school, rule the world. Yeah right.

More like; sleep for two hours before dragging myself out of bed and climbing into the shower, where I self-reflect for as long as I can get away with before it's time for school.

Give my guards the jobs for the day, plus any extra information they may need to know, before showing up to school late, again.

Try and get through the day without interruptions, which is pretty much impossible. Deal with any little interference that may get in my way, some smaller than others. Praying the day will go quickly and smoothly, before heading back home.

Then it's the mountains of paperwork, letters, messages, any problems the citizens of Galtolga may be having.

And on a quiet day, I may get the time to actually spend some quality time with my friends, how I managed to actually keep friends was beyond me.

Time was constantly running away from me.

Jaxson's followers were nowhere to be seen, which was good for the most part, but not knowing when they may show up again, was a pain that I didn't need.

To top that all off, the energies were off lately, power seeping through a hole in time that I couldn't seem to find.

What am I missing? Something so small, yet so important. Where is it?

The stress was immense, slowing getting out of hand, and it took everything I had not to just lose it.

Keep a calm head, Kaden. People are counting on you. I just have to keep my eyes and ears open, if something were going to happen, we would simply have to wait it out, we were wasting too much time and too many resources looking for something that we had no idea about.

Time would have to be on our side, we just have to wait it out and hope for the best, and when the time finally comes, we will be ready, I will make sure of that.

So, as per usual, I got to school an hour late, and took my time walking to my first class. I had History with Adrian, so it could be worse.

I took a moment to compose myself, hoping for a calm day, before I pushed open the door and stepped into the classroom, my head held high.

However, the teacher that stood at the front of the classroom was not one I recognised; this could be a problem.

"And you are?" He asked, was he a substitute?

"Kaden Hendrix, sir. There's a report on my record explaining my absence," I said, hoping he would just read the report without any questions.

"Okie dokie, I'll read it in just a moment. I'm Tom, your new History teacher, why don't you take a seat, Kaden?"

So, he was one of those easy-going teachers that tried to be friends with his students, I could respect that, and it will certainly make my life a lot easier.

Tom, huh? You want to make sure the teens here don't walk all over you with an attitude like that.

I took my seat next to Adrian who immediately greeted me, in his happy manner. I returned the gesture, silently asking him what the deal with the new teacher was.

"Mr Jenkins finally retired, about time too, I don't think I could take any more of his lectures," Adrian told me through our mind-link.

And now we have Tom, who looks way too happy to be here. He was pretty young, probably mid to late 20's, he stood at about 6 foot, and had short brown hair and grey eyes.

I could already see the girls swooning over him, hoping for that extra second of eye contact, but Tom paid no attention to that.

Even though he was friendly and casual in his approach, he seemed to actually know what he was talking about, I tried to pay attention to the lesson, but I couldn't help but be distracted. I just had so much on my mind as of late.

Adrian sat beside me listening to music as he usually did, he hardly ever paid attention is classes, yet he somehow always managed to pass.

He was tapping away on his desk to the beat as everybody got lost in their classwork, the room was quiet and Tom sat at his desk, reading something on his computer.

When he glanced in my direction, I knew he was reading my record. He looked at me questionably, like he was looking for answers, but he didn't say anything as he turned back to the computer.

Adrian performed a drum beat on his desk, and I couldn't help but watch in amusement as he mimed the words to whatever song he was listening to, he seemed pretty lost in it, clearly enjoying himself.

"Adrian, is it?" Tom asked, his eyes drilling into Adrian, who didn't hear him.

I nudged Adrian as Tom stood up from his desk, watching the two of us. Adrian shot me a questioning look and I quickly used my eyes to point to the teacher, who was still approaching us.

Adrian pulled off his headphones, turning to the teacher with a smile.

"Sir?" He asked, gazing at the man who now stood about 3 feet in front of us.

"Having fun?" Tom asked with an eyebrow raised.

"Yes, sir!" Adrian grinned, clearly not caring if he got into trouble or not, I couldn't help but roll my eyes, some things just never change.

"So, what do you think of the Whisky War?" Tom asked, glancing down at the blank pages that sat on Adrian's desk.

The Whisky War was probably one of the most peaceful and amusing wars in history, a war that has been going on between Denmark and Canada since the 1930's.

The war was still ongoing, it was a fight over ownership of Hans island, located between Greenland and Ellesmere Island.

It originated when Canada travelled to the island and planted their flag, along with a bottle of Canadian Whisky. Denmark responded by travelling to the island themselves, replacing the Canadian flag with the Danish flag, and stealing the Whiskey, replacing it with a bottle of Schnapps.

No blood has been shed during this war, but there had been reports of many drunk sailors. It was definitely an amusing story to tell, but one that not many people knew about.

"Who doesn't love a good Whisky?" Adrian asked, looking sheepish in his response, so this was something he didn't know about then.

"Indeed. The Danish sure enjoyed it, I think you would like this one, Adrian. You should give it a read," Tom said with a smile, before walking back to his desk.

Why was that scarier than him getting angry? Now, I was hesitant to see him angry.

Adrian half paid attention after that, and even did a bit of research on the war, which he couldn't help but laugh at.

"This is awesome, but Whisky is way better than Schnapps," Adrian spoke aloud.

"Have you even had Schnapps?" I asked, it didn't strike me as the kind of thing Adrian would drink.

"Have you ever had Whisky?" Tom asked, it was the type of question that was daring you to tell the truth, just to end up getting you in trouble once you did.

"No, sir. That would be illegal, and I'm a good boy," Adrian grinned, not falling for Tom's trap.

The rest of class was pretty boring after that, and I spaced out for a lot of it, before I knew it, the bell was ringing to end the lesson. I took in about half of the lesson at best, which was pretty good for me honestly, I really had to sort my head out, but I couldn't rest, not yet.

I'd already missed my first class, so it was break already. Everyone rushed out of the classroom, but Adrian and I took our time reaching the door.

"Adrian, Kaden, a word please," Tom stopped us before we could leave the room, and I had to stop myself from sighing aloud.

Adrian was unfazed as he strolled over to the teacher's desk with his hands in his pockets, I joined him, standing next to the desk, while Adrian leant back on one of the nearer desks.

There were three boys sat at the back of the classroom still, and two others walked in to join them, I recognised them from the mall, they had joined us for lunch that one time.

Adrian was slowly getting to know them, as he likes to do with most students. I knew a few of their names, and they appeared harmless, that was all I really needed to know.

"I'm assuming the principal knows about your absence record?" Tom asked, I really wished he would accept it and move on, like every other teacher did.

After all, it's not like I can tell him that sometimes I come in late, and have to leave from time to time because of problems in Galtolga. Not only would he think I was crazy, but it was also against the rules to speak about our world to humans.

"Yes, sir," I simply said and he nodded, more intrigued than anything else.

"I'm also assuming you two are friends, but I would appreciate if you refrained from disturbing my class in the future, Adrian."

Adrian feigned innocence, smiling cheekily as he played with the wire from his headphones that were sitting around his neck.

The door opened again, but this time we were presented with Zach, Gabriel and Cameron, they were probably wondering what was taking us so long.

Not like Zach could bear to be away from his keeper for too long, they would eventually start to crave each other's presence, something I unfortunately couldn't relate to.

"And you are?" Tom asked, raising a brow at the three boys that stood in the doorway.

Adrian grinned at the sight of his keeper and was quick to pull him against his side, his arm reaching to rest around Zach's waist.

"This is the love of my life; Zach, and our friends; Gabe and Cameron, they were probably missing us," Adrian smirked.

"Yeah right," I heard Gabriel grumble from the doorway, his hand firmly interlocked with Cameron's.

"It's nice to meet you, I'm Tom, the new History teacher, maybe I'll be seeing you at some point," Tom greeted, he wasn't a bad guy, anybody could tell that, maybe History would be somewhat enjoyable from now on.

"Cameron and I have History next," Zach said, leaning into Adrian's hold.

"I'll be seeing you next class then, and hopefully you are less disruptive than your boyfriend," he smiled.

Zach turned to Adrian with a raised eyebrow.

"Were you being loud again?" Zach asked, he worded it a lot nicer than I would have.

"You know I can't resist Britney, baby," Adrian grinned sheepishly, so that was what he was listening to.

"Sorry about him, he's excitable," Zach explained to Tom, who already took a liking to Zach, wait until he got to know Cameron, he was always eager to prove himself, and boy was he a hard worker.

"I think we will all become good friends," Tom said, but there was something in the way he said it that sounded ominous.

This was my first lesson with him, but I had become pretty good at reading people over the years.

Every time Tom spoke it was like he knew something we didn't, he held a power that others were aware of, but maybe that was his place as a teacher.

Either way, he knew a lot more than he was letting on, I just hoped my instincts were right and he was a good guy.

We needed a break; we deserved a break after everything that had happened.

With Jaxson turning evil and attacking Adrian's parents, plus many other people in the crossfire, before stealing Adrian's memories.

That hit me hard, Adrian was my best man, my best fighter, and my best friend, and to have that taken away from me, angered me.

And to be told there was nothing I could do about it, made me feel weak. I couldn't be more grateful to have him back by my side, and Zach felt complete once again, I knew it was selfish to mourn with what Zach had gone through, it must have been incredibly painful for him, but I lost my friend that day.

I would never underappreciate him again, that was for sure.

And then there was Cameron showing up out of the blue, looking like he just walked off the set of Teen Wolf. I'd never seen someone look so terrified before, and I instantly wanted to help him.

Now Cameron joined me by my side too, his training was going well, and he was getting stronger with each passing day, soon he would be ready to fight.

And by the looks of things, we're gonna need all the people we can get.

*

Pretty slow to start off with but there was a very important character in this chapter that I needed to introduce.

It's pretty complicated inside Kaden's head, so hopefully you can come to understand some of his thoughts and feelings.

And a lot of foreshadowing. Things are about to get interesting!

Please leave a like if you enjoyed and see you in the next chapter.

Love and light, my friends.
